When ever the phone is in standby for a few minutes or so, it refuses to power back on when I press the power button. The only way to bring the phone back is a soft reset. While it is frozen in standby mode it does not receive phones calls, emails or texts. Im running lvsw 03-26. I noticed it didn’t happen with lvsw 3-20…but it was happening with both versions of xda live. I did a few hard resets to see if that will get rid of it…but nothing. I tried searching high and low on the site and even read wiki for answers but no one seems to know what is going on. I saw a few people post up the same issue but still no help….so I decided to open a new thread. Can anyone help?
It happens. Do you have a Storage Card in? If so, take it out for a while and see what happens. What 3rd party apps are you using too. I know Wisbar Advance causes this issue. Can you list what you're running and maybe I can see if you're having the same problem I was.
I've had the same problem with most WM6 roms. Having upgraded to BlackEd2.0 the problem seems to have gone though...
are you running a today plugin off storage card perhaps?
none of the roms i've tried had power on problems
Sometimes you can have that problem with having a cluttered SD Card or having a program that is accessing online in the background.
I have a 512 storage card. I’m not running much 3rd party apps…I have Mundu IM, Microsoft live search, Google maps, WM black commander, macromedia flash player active x…and that’s it. I Had mundu, live search and Google maps installed to my storage card. After reading rabanJR’s post, I uninstalled them from the card and installed them to the phone. I then went back to the card and deleted all program folders and files….I also did a general clean up of the card. Lets see what happens now.
Also to swampy…im not running much of anything on my today screen….just the messages, calendar and the com manager plug in that came with the rom. That’s all. Lets hope for the best.

funny thing, that just happened to me today. greed led was flashing, but i couldn't get out of standby mode without soft resetting. maybe some kinda software issue? Its the first time it's happened to me since going to wm6. i did notice it before however.

What Radio Rom?
Have you flashed a new radio lately? If not, what radio ROM version do you have? I had an issue with my TyTN that was definitely a radio issue. Flashed to 1.38.0.11 and haven't had a single issue with freezing since.
Just an idea, of course.

yes sir...i tried many hard resets. A radio upgrade is one of the things i tried...i saw a few people trying it. i went to 1.34 though. im going to flash to 1.38 riiight now! im desperate right now. i'll let you know how it goes.
I had the same problem until I upgraded to black 2.0. I had the radio 1.38.0.11 from the time I upgraded to wm6 and my 8525 was freezing until upgrading to black 2.0 solved my problem.
well i have good news. i upgraded to LVSW(2007/04/08) last night...and so far so good. didnt freeze once today. hope the issue is gone for good. thanks all for the help.
same exact issue here running LVSW 03-26 (goes unresponsive while in standby, green blinking LED, soft reset to recover). 2gb card installed...i'll try removing it to see if freezes go away.

will do...one more note...i updated to 1.38.11 i think it was. what funny is right after i updated the radio the phone froze on the first standby. while i was coming back to post i saw the new rom update for lvsw.
This has a been a long reported problem on WM6 ROMs. 'wont wake from sleep' is the common phrase. Radio and bacground app using net I think was the problem, but no real solution if I remember correctly. On LVSW 3 26 I have gone weeks without this though. In the beginning LVSW 3 26 still did the freeze but after a week it stopped and works pretty good now. Sounds like MS is behind it since it makes no sense at all. LOL.

Wow, I thought I was crazy becasue nobody mentioned this issue before. I had this problem from day 1.
However, i recently noticed that the 1.38 Radio was eating up my battery life and downgraded to 1.34. This combined with installing Black2.0 seems to have taken care of this problem. I just came back from a weekend away from my phone (which i know is a crime since it is so much fun to use) and it woke up right away.
What Radio do you have?
How long are your phones in standby when it happens?
well....bad news again. even after the new rom update it is still freezing. do you guys think this is hardware? I never froze on wm5...i can't see it being a hardware issue. im almost tempted to call cingular and have them send another one, but i dont know how to go back to wm5. for me, the phone will be in standby for 30 minutes or so....then wont turn back on. any more suggestions?
try disabling everything completely.
1 events and notifications
2 beam auto receive
3 bluetooth
4 wifi
5 put device into flight mode
6 all startup items (including those in rom) move to a temp for now
7 disable activesync
8 disable push email
9 disable all today items
1. disable error reporting customer experience
11 remove anything that reads the sd card
12 remove sd card entirely
13 remove sim card
literally disable everything that runs automatically or otherwise.
power down ur phone by pressing power button for 3 secs. shutdown. leave it for 20secs.
power it back up. then test it now.
if u have a problem now then it could be scary bear notifications fix only. u could have a notification queu problem that is causing ur device to contradicory items simultaneously.
this could be caused activesync so no matter which rom u use it comes back via activesync of calendar or tasks.
if at this stage its fixed then bring things back systematically with the most important first like the sim card. turn off flight mode
c how u go. sometimes pda just gets confused and doesnt wake up from a sleep to well (bit like me in the morning... sometimes bed and sleep is just way to good compared to work/life)...

First and foremost I should note that I tried searching the forums but I was not entirely sure what to search for. I tried a few different queries and they yielded negligible results for my issue. Now, onto my issue:
8525 with wm6 black 3.01
I have my 8525/hermes/tytn/etc/ set to turn the device off after 3 minutes of inactivity in order to preserve battery life. Sometimes, this poses no issues and I can just hit the power button to turn it back on when I need to. Other times however, and perhaps more frequent, I press the power button and nothing happens. Try as I might and regardless of how many times I press the damned button, it will not turn on. I have to use my stylus to do a soft reset in order to have my phone back in operation. Needless to say, this has gotten very annoying. I have since turned that feature off but now my battery drains far too quickly.
Is this a known issue or has anyone experienced similar issues? If so, is there a fix for this? If not, would ATT accept my phone for a warranty exchange with this greymarket software on it? If not, can I just flash it with an official ATT image and then send it in? Thanks.
It's called Sleep of Death... SOD... I had it and I flashed the official AT&T rom and havent had it since.

How many apps do you have running. Where are they installed also. I currently run Black Majik, and NEVER have the SoD, or soft reset, so I think it's the stuff you put in your device that may be causing this. Flashing a new ROM wont always solve this, since you and I have the same phone, I think it's what you put in that may cause this.

running? usually just whatever program I have opened since I have it set up to completely escape the program when I X out. As far as where things are installed, everything is installed on my device sans iGo.. However, this issue arised prior to iGo being put on my SD card.
Try this. After a hard reset, load one app to your device, let it sit, test it, and then do another. take your time. See if something you load is causing this. I did a HR on mine cause I had tons of crap on there, loaded stuff slowly and noticed the ButtonFlo CAB is what screwed my ROM from working good, so got rid of it. Since then, its awesome.
Leave the Black and go with JJ's Majik. Is the only ROM to date that hasn't SOD'ed me ... and I run the same apps, the same way, on all the ROM's.

I read a lot of threads regarding the problem, i tried AT&T and same problem, others had it with black, now i am having it with latest LVSW, may be a software problem, i had it using SPB WEATHER and SPB TIME, i hard reset install all but them, worked fine for two days, installed TWEAK2K2, problem came back, now trying without TWEAK2K2, but i doubt problem can be solved
My Opinion
been running through threads all over, just found out that there is no solution, because when a program pushes the unit to wake up from standby it freezes, this program can be weather, alarm, mail, active sync, and even a CALL can cause this, so it's a permanent bug in wm6 and PPC :-(
it happen to me several times as i finish a phone call and go back to the Today screen but on the left top corner still display the title "phone".and i cant press it to open the start menu when im at the Today screen not even the start key works.try hold down the power button to shut down but no luck.but everything still works at the Today screen (weather,music plug-in etc)
had to soft reset it.anyone have this problem as well?or is it a radio problem?

I use this rom with 1.51 radio till the rom is issued. I never had to soft reset because the rom crashed. The only really annoying issue i had is the bluetooth's one (Time to time, it is impossible to reactivate bluetooth without SR. This is why i do not desactivate it anymore ). We can always argue on choices, taste and colors but this rom is quite stable and fast enough for what i do.
EDIT: BTW check also which applications you have loaded. Did you reinstall a backup done with SPB after coming from another rom? I experienced many problems with that. Even if not pretty, i always reinstall now all my applications after installing a new rom (and i use pimbackup for calendar, contacts,... infos)

I don't agree with that the ROM issue after call. Your deveice may be has some problem. What about bluetooth yes, there is some interesting moment that you select open bluetooth, it doesn't open, as soon as you mark to open you should restart your deveice, then it starts with opened bluetooth. BUt when you are going to turn the bluetooth off there is no problem.
I'm sure, Schap as a great moderator will solve this problems in next generation of his ROMs. The variation 3.60a (has posted), may be 3.60b, then 3.60c may be. Or he will post something interesting like Iphone platform.(I want him to do it)

I have the same problem too, what I have discover is that during the call and the screen is off (either it off automatically after a time or you press the power button) then anytime you power on the screen again in between the call or after the call in a short time the problem tiggered.
the only way you can 'fix' it is to wait until call end then off and on your screen once then the 'start menu' back or wait for an amount of time until the phone lock tigger (that one with number pad)
I said 'fix' (with quote) because this definitely a temporary solution to deal with this problem
hope schaps can get more idea in how to trigger the problem and can fix this soon

To the OP,
If you are using a Hermes I suggest you reflash from scratch ie Schaps ver 3.6 rom, then use radio rom version 1.47.10..
Install ALL your applications from scratch, manually. DO NOT restore from a previous backup using, say SPB Backup; that will screw your installation. Make sure all your apps are the latest versions, capable of running under WM6.
Preferably install one app at a time, as you would anyway, then test the phone and make sure it is working before installing another app, and so on.
Don't install a theme changer or other similar software until you are absolutely sure your installation works. Leave the performance parameter settings as they are, ie at default.
If all else fails use the ROM combination in my signature below. Rock solid installation, no problems or crashes.

I didnt have the bluetooth turn on just using it normally.and all application i install is fresh onto the phone memory.never install any program on the SD card.about the dialer skin i use Schen Kaiser 3G dialer.
Anyone got fix yet?

I've had this same issue for weeks now, ever since the newer ROMs have come out for the official releases (i'll have to track back the build numbers). I had it with Sleuth's last release, the vp3G 3.0 release, and now Schap's 3.60. I've done what other posters have said and hard reset, not loaded any apps, and still have the issue.
I believe I have tracked it down to do with X-button, as that's one of the few apps that is installed without customizations in both Sleuth and vp3G (and I run it in Schap 3.60a). My next step is to run vp3G 3.60 lite, without X-button, and see if that really solves my problem.

As a follow-up, I went to VP3G 3.60.1 install, ran the base install with nothing else installed and still had the problem. Still, the workaround suggested by others (putting the phone in standby and coming out) fixes the issue for me.

I have installed CRCs r10.04 dated fifth May and WiFi seems to be auto enabled on boot with no appreciable power problems
As soon as I start using the phone, everything starts to go wrong at once: It will make a call but then not receive any at all. And it wont easily turn on or off. Taking out the battery resets the unit, - obviously. otherwise the unit starts heating up and the screen acts sluggish freezes often after I have made a call. I dont remember the last time it actually received a call!
The only program which starts on boot is iFonz. Whatever else is wrong with it, it clearly needs reflashing though I dont really know with which ROM. Is there some incompatibility between iFonz and the Hermes? Or is this a clear case of flash with a Cingular ROM and then with whatever ROM you want? (BTW this is actually the first Rom I have flashed to this unit after unlocking)

I am also using an AT&T 8525 and use the ifonz program and have no difficulty using it - now, I do not have it starting on boot, so that may be an issue with your device. Could also be the ROM? I have used several ROMs and use the ifoz program on all of them and have no problems.

Hate to sound lke a newbie but I was hoping I wouldnt receive a message like yours telling me that iFonz works with lots of ROMs. I suppose i should reflash another ROM anyway (MaRaHox seems to be flavour of the month at the moment and I tend to stay with successful flashes) and wonder how I can isolate the problem?
Even worse, mine is a direct flash from Cingular (meaning there is unlikely to be interim corruption which could be cured by reflashing the manufacturer's ROM) so I cant really reflash the Manuf and hope the problem will go away
I would go for CRC 11.2 myself, Thats what MaRaHox's is based on, well, no I think his last rom was based on 12.3 (?)
I use CRC's 12.4 and find it very fast and stable (bar glitch between HTC button (yuck) and the themes)
Ok guys, I need some help here. I've been using multiple roms for a long time now but I have a problem with a very strange lockup.
When I change the alarm clock time under 'clocks & alarms', using the analog clock, and I press OK to accept the new time the interface locks up. I've to soft reset to get it active again. But I can also hold the power button to do a cold reset, which actually gives me the Warning pupup asking me to continue, which is strange as the interface seems to have locked up completely.
Something which happens occasionally is that when I press OK to accept the new alarm time all the background processes pop up really quick, like alt tabbing really quick, before a lockup.
This happens randomly, but ususally once my TyTN has had some uptime.
I always flash the official TyTN ROM (without radio) before flasing a new custom rom and I prefer not to use any RBS roms.

I've had these problems with almost all WM6.1 roms and am currently running CRCs Release 13.0 - Stable Thread (Build 20270) and I will keep this one for now.
I've also seen this behavior with:
All pervious CRCs roms (development and stable), all PDACornerPro roms up to V22, some pdaviet roms (I've not tried all) and some other roms.
Thats odd, I cant reproduce it (On CRCv13), do you have anything else installed that might be causing any kinda conflict?
Not that I can think off right now, the only item that comes close is HomeScreen PlusPlus.

I think the place to start is hard reset and see if you get the same error without installing anything.
Then work though, one program at a time, and find out what seems to be doing it.
Has this only started happing post getting the new phone? It would surprise me if it was a hardware issue though.
Nah, this also happened with my old TyTN. I was thinking about a hard reset and then letting it run for a while as you just suggested, so I'll do that now.
