Now this is a new issue...Once started, on portrait mode, the slingplayer screen takes half the screnn of the HD.Also it is impossible to change channels as the buttons seem pressed there.
On Landscape mode the screen is filled up almost to the 90% capacity of the HD , thus making it very very comfortable to watch.
Does anyone have any idea how to fix the portrait mode???
Thanks
slingplayer impossible to use (touchscreen version)

its just about usable although slow to use the menus for remote control functions but the streaming and PQ are excellent so its worth having!
I have it working.
I cannot however hand out the version I am using.
So, please wait. a version that does work perfectly with HD is on its way. I can also state SlingMobile version coming out soon works perfectly on Omnia and on the X1.
Sorry I can't hand this out, and please do not ask, as refusal may offend.
Ah... wonderful news indeed as this is one of my favorite apps.
awesome, figured out I can get the current version usable with Sky plus by using the favourites buttons to set the most common remote control functions but it would be good to have a version that works with WVGA properly!! Any idea on timelines for the newer version?
Any News?

Hey guys,
Installed SCUMMVM onto my Touch HD and set in the options to go fullscreen 2x.
The problem now is the screen is left justified whereas the device thinks it's central. The upshot is that the stylus needs to be touched about quarter of an inch to the right of the deisngated area.
Anyone know how to solve this...
Thanks in advance
Hi
You have to use WVGAFIX3
where i can find SCUMMVM and the WVGAFIX3?
thx!

The solution is to rotate the screen 180 degrees while a game is running (5th icon below the screen). Then the input is not shifted anymore.

Edit the file <scummvm.ini> and add this line:
landscape=2
This will make ScummVM start with the correct orientation. That way you wont have to rotate the screen manually everytime you're in a game
Regards,
Rolf
Hope, SCUMM will be full WVGA compatible soon.
No need to apply the fix. Just tap twice on the monkey icon and everything will be ok (corresponds exactly to the landscape = 2 manipulation described here above). Even if you do it manually, ScummVM will be remember that setting for next time - you can configure that setting for every Scumm game and for ScummVM itself. With landscape = 1, the touch response does not work correctly. With landscape = 2, the touch response works properly. No way to centralize the screen though.
Regarding WVGA compatibility, from what I understand there will be no such compatibility. This does not have to do with ScummVM but rather with the games which run on the Scumm engine. In particular the older ones run on non-wide screen resolutions. Consequently, any WVGA scaling would result in stretching the images, unless you wanted to get rid of the ScummVM menu bar during the game. That would require reprogramming the interface with context menus to replace that menu bar.

I think the guy just wanted the game to be showed at the center of the screen, and not on the left.

Hi there,
Is there a really simple FREE low memory program that will allow you to assign a hardware button to toggle the device/key lock on & off?
i.e. pressing & holding the end call softkey rather than hitting the today screen plugin.
Thx,
GW
No-one have a solution for this?
If topic alady covered, apologies. Please direct to post if one is present
Hi Gulioth,
I've tested two solutions for your problem
1. is slide to unlock, also known as SU2
You can start his app by pressing a predefined key.
2. Install the htc home customizer plus htc home. On the tap apps, you can define a shortcut to lock your device. it is the simple WM lock.
For me the last solution appeared to be the best, although you have hit the screen.
If you can't find the apps, post again and I'll try to find the links
Thanks for feedback & suggestions.
I cannot use the htc home customizer plus htc home as it's causes the phone to lag & crash frequently.
Just looked at S2U2 & I think it would do the job however which version would work well with the Artemis/XDA Orbit?
Are there other alternatives?
Anyone help us out here? Just want to know if S2U2 would be the best solution for my query, and if so, which version would work best for this handset? Also any alternative recommended programs out there?
Cheers
hey,
I use S2U2 as screen locking. Currently have the latest version and works fine with the artemis, although sometimes when unlocking, the screen gets locked immediately again.
there are some other apps like throttle lock, but I don't know those can be hooked to a key like you say (i.e. pressing the red button two seconds or so)
such a key-hook would be great!
unfortunately I don't know about programming for WM

Ok thanks I'll give it a go.
One last thing - is it best to install the QVGA or VGA version for the Artemis??!
since the artemis screen is 320x240 which is a quarter of VGA (640x480), QVGA would be the choice

LOL I figured it out cheers
At the risk of being a smarta$$ - wouldn't a quarter of 640x480 be 160x120??!!
640 x 480 = 307 200 pxl
320 x 240 = 76 800 pxl
307 200 / 76 800 = 4
Here is the quarter

Thats not correct because somewhere here on the forum I have seen a gameboy emulator software for the Touch HD with Multitouch support and all people says there that it works perfect!
If I´ve time I´ll look for a link to this thread later!

There are some pseudo multi-touch apps out there that mimic the effect of multi-touch:
basically if you pressed both edges of the screen windows records a keypress somewhere in the middle
so if you had a four way d-pad arrangement with a couple of fire buttons you can 'sort of' emulate multi-touch by capturing a press that registers inbetween say the up and fire button.
see here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=489147
i have even managed to reproduce this simple behaviour in a .net test app.
i also read an article where the hardware of the G1 (yes i know that not a touch HD) was multi-touch capable but the device driver for the screen was not and some clever chappy was attempting to write a driver that would give the point pressed and a radius allowing the 'pinch' style zoom gesture of the fruitPhone.
and if you google for that there are several other even more successful attempts at bringing multi-touch to the G1.
it seems that with that phone the initial limiting factor was actually the OS not supporting multi-touch
winMo also does not support multi-touch....
so this begs the question is the HD hardware capable with a little device driver / OS hacking ???????
anyone????
The game emulator only simulates multi-touch by averaging the point between your two touches. So touching the left side of the screen and the right side of the screen registers as touching in the middle of the screen.
This works for the game emulator (Morphgear is the one they've done this with) because you can make virtual game pads that have hidden buttons. So touching on the virtual up button and touching the virtual A button registers as touching in between them allowing you to have a hidden virtual button at that spot that does the up+jump action.
It's not real mutli-touch, but very well done and handy for that specific purpose.
edit: Beat me by seconds, purec0de
silf there is the search function anyway eh
I know that it is kinda possible, but you've all said "emulates" & "simulates". Thus it not true multi touch like the iphone.
Please remember this is the same guy asking if we can install OSX on the touch HD.
So far, the answer is a simple "no" (e.g.: ditto to jake_tenfloors)
Remember that the HD has a resistive screen whereas the iPhone has a capacitive screen.
There are rumours of companies developing drivers and software packages to get a true multi-touch for resistive screens, however, Windows Mobile 6 (including 6.1, 6.5) doesn't have support for multi-touch.
So unfortunately for us HD users (or Diamond or devices without hardware buttons), we'll have to make do without.
why would you want to install osx on the hd. would you not just buy an iphone or as so perfectly described in a previous post, fruitPhone.

No, however I made proof of concept software which emulates some multitouch features on any single touch screen. You can zoom in/out by pinching as well as rotate objects. It can also recognize whether you are touching with just one finger or two. So for example you can pan picture around with one finger and skip to next picture if you drag it with two fingers. This is not hw specific and works on ANY single touch device, including touchpad on your laptop and various touch screen computers.

any chance of posting this for us to play with??
+1 I too would like to have such a thing, even if its only for album.
hi mate i agree with purec0de...is there a chance of posting this simply because it sounds like a very nice piece of software and we would be very grateful if you choose to share it.
thx in advance if u plan to post
I too wrote a limited multitouch (MT) demo but the problem was how to map it into existing programs... there are no standard event handlers for MT in current WiMo... this changes with WiMo 7.0 next year. Bottom line you can write a custom application that does a pretty good job of acting like its MT but it is a stand-alone application (read: does not integrate with HTC Album etc)
Please post this multitouch Demos... it would be realy nice to test it
Good day, dear people!
I am very much interested in buying the HD Mini. But I still have a few residual doubts. The sturdiness of the thing is one such qualm, but the main question mark is the screen resolution.
Dabbling with freeware is one of my hobbies (and the reason for sticking to Windows Mobile for a bit longer). I have loads of apps installed on my current phone (being a humble HTC Touch of the first generation) Examples being (in no particular order):
Paint Now, VNC, Total Commander, MyNote, Nitrogen, Made, Space Time, PocketGravity, PocketSand, Swirly, Mobile Fractals, MobiPocket, GoDAft, TempoPerfect, ToneBox, BlueHoo, WiFiFofum, DeluxeMoon, PocketXPDF, MobileMonger, AdvancedConfig, BatteryStatus, and VSPainter.
All these apps run perfectly well on the Touch's 240x320 screen.
Is there anybody out there who can tell me how they fare on the HD Mini?
Much obliged!
Regards,
wim
Hi,
Nitrogen runs without problems.
Total Commander runs, but there R problems with the lower button row.
The other apps I dont know...
Thanks Peppo.
I was going to propose to make a list. But while I was doing so, I noticed something: most apps people mention in other threads seem to be working just fine.
Maybe the resolution is not such a big deal after all.

For the overlapping problems of Total Commanders bottom row there is a beta available, that solves this problem - which seems to be a common problem of 6.5 devices.
so, where is this TC beta to be found?
Obviously by the designer:
http://www.ghisler.com/pocketpc.htm
That's where I looked, but the most recent version of TC pocket edititon dates back to 2008. Can't imagine this solving any problems on the HD mini.
But maybe I'm looking at it the wrong way...
Edit: Okay, forget about that. I didn't scroll all the way down. (Who expects the most recent release at the bottom of the page?!)
Thanks!
Yep. Works fine.
Okay, so I did buy the HD mini without waiting for the feedback I asked for in the first post of this thread.
Here's what I encoutered so far as far as freeware is concerned:
DeluxeMoon: when run, it appears as a small stamp in the top left corner of the screen, which makes it unusable.
Paint Now: seems to work okay.
MyNote: works fine.
PocketSand: buttons don't work, screen doesn't fit (too small).
Swirly: doesn't fit the screen.
GoDaft: works fine.
WifiFofum: works, but the screen is stretched vertically.
MobileMonger: works fine.
Haven't tried the rest yet.
Has anyone tried any of the configuration tools that are out there, such as Advanced Configuration, PocketToolman, HTC Customizer, and - especially - BatteryStatus?
Very curious whether these stil work!
i use this mini well
i don't advise anyone to buy hd mini
i have baught it and its a bad experiance , it is slim and hd screen and colors ,
but now after one month use , while i move it you thing the phone in moving in side the cover.
second it does not have double camra and you can not do a video call
useless 3G
I Think HTC is only making people fool by daily bringing new model with no change
just name and alittle bit change in shape
no new technologies
