ok, long story short; learning linux (beginner) and i have android on ppc however its a very limited shell. heard about debian adapted to android on gphone so i tried. androidfanatic.com/cms/community-forums.html?func=view&catid=9&id=251#251
now the first step is to flash root to your card. he says this wont replace android but gphone comeswith android installed right? so i would have to (flash ?) android over wm6.1. now i have root over android? is this supposed to work and could i even have android over wm? i think its more of an addon right? hey, if i can get some devs on this ive got everything backed up as long as i can get wm6.1 dl'd again ill whipe my os and try android as prime os. just let me know whats up.

Hi there.
I have an LG G3 (D855) on Android 5.0. But its a good phone bogged down by slow updates by LG.
I want to enjoy & experience 5.1 like the G4 but i'm not an expert in rooting or flashing ROMs. And i heard you can only update using a Windows computer and not Mac. is this true?
Please help. Thanks.
Actually, you can use a mac to do this.
You will need to install windows on virtual box, vmware, etc..
If you have other question, don't hesitate.
Why would you need to have windows? Do you use a flashtool for this rom?
I've always flashed with mac, I don't like flashtools... Just flash a custom recovery with fastboot and you're good to go?
Many thanks.
Well looking to flash my old phone to make it able to run newer app i dont really care if it die anyways.
But being looking for guide but all of them dont work... Or explain just half the installation.
Anyone can help me ?
It a canadian samsung nexus i9250
Thank you
tried kingo root and fail but it do show in my phone trying
I got it
Tried with the laptop on windows 7 and it worked.
Now i need to understand how to install android 5.1 or maybe 6.0
I use to Root Androids when it was Android 2.3 days and I just stop for a long time. Now I wanting to get back into Rooting and installing custom ROMs on phone. I had this HTC for 1 year and it's running Android 6.0, HTC Sense version 7.0, and build number 3.37.605.7 CL669662. I use to Root Samsungs but I wanna to try HTC and I've never rooted an HTC phone.
I wanna know what is the safest root, install custom recovery, and what is the best custom ROM I wanna look like stock Android 7.0, now I know it's not safe to do all that but I said that so I know what's all that really work that you can recommend, I would really like to do it without a computer but if I have to my main computer is running Linux (Manjaro) and I also got a computer I can try that runs Windows 10.
The reason why I want to install a custom ROM is because I'm using a Straight Talk Sim inside this Verzion phone so I can't get any new Android updates from Verizon and I wanna be able to be up-to-date.
I haven't done this in a long time never on a Linux machine so please go noob mode on me.
Thank You!
I just want to root my Android devices to update something on the phone, could you help me if you know how you do that. Thanks in advance.
Root Guide: How to Root Android Device with Root Genius
What is Rooting on Android and Why We Want to Root?
Most Android users are annoyed by these system default applications, which are not really being used but can not be deleted because, if so, the Android operating system will not run smoothly and may cause an interruption. Rooting is a process that allows users to access the main software code of the device's operating system and allows you to modify or change something based on what you want, and how you want the phone application to work for you. Safe to say that this is Android corresponding to Apple jailbreak. After rooted, you can no freely install apps that you think will enhance your mobile experience. After all, that is what we all wanted, to get the most of what we have.

Hi guys,
I hope somebody can help me rooting my smartphone. Right now it's running with the stock Android 6.0, but I would like to install the lineageos 15.1. The problem is, I do not manage to root it!
I tried with no success the:
- purpledrake script (PurpleDrake-Lite_R03.tar.gz) (by the way, my desktop PC is running with a linux ubuntu 18.04 OS and I have a virtualbox environment as guest with WIN7 32 bit).
- towelroot apk
- LG one click root 1.3.0.0
If it's not possible to root the 6.0 Android version, can maybe anybody guide me through a solution for installing a free ROM such as lineageOS? Please go easy with the explanations, I am not very android skilled already read about "first downgrade", but if this is the only possibility I don't really understand how to do it without ending up with a brick.
Thanks in advance for any guideline
Kingroot worked for me initially, and also Towelroot at a later time (which I see you've tried), only thing is it took several attempts (10+) before either app could finally obtain root ......maybe just keep trying with either of those
