I am looking to just get ROOT without any changes in the stock kernel.
I don't want the weird name sounding ROM's or any of that.
Just some way to get root so I can load Titanium Backup and FREEZE the AT&T bloatware
I just go the OTA today (11/14/14) when I turned my phone on. It's the AT&T SGH-I317
and now say
Android 4.4.2
Build Number
KOT49H.I317UCUCNJ1
Device Status
Official
So is there a quick and easy way to do this?
I use a iMac BUT I can boot into Windows 7 Ultimate also (which from rooting phones before I usually always go that route).
Any help/directions would be appreciated.
Also this, who comes up with those weird names for different ROM's that NEVER really explain, in plain old English, what they do?
I can't (or don't want to) learn the syntax lingo used to find a working ROM that does just a simple thing, give you ROOT, even after reboots/yank battery/etc.
Maybe a one-click solution?
thanks :fingers-crossed:

You should try CF Autoroot
any confirmation that CF root works on 4.4.2 with NJ1 OTA update/
as soon as someone gets a root to stick
and I mean just standard, stock adding su to the mix
post the steps as to how you did it
a one click root would of course be the best......
but at least tell us how you did it, and screen shots to show would help too.
thanks

I haven't gotten root with Odin yet. No brick in and everything shows custom but US throws an error
Hello
Specifically, I would like to know if someone has N750 device and successfully rooted his device! The reason I'm doing this thread is because when I had 4.3 android versions, I tried that CF auto root via Odin program and it bricked my phone. Fortunately, I was able to get my original firmware again from a specific site for samsung devices. [Egypt version, because obviously, I live in Egypt]. Now, My device has been updated to 4.4.2 and I have currently the kitkat version without any problems BUT, I want to root my phone in order to use Xpose Framework;
I want the best advice to follow for my device because I do not have the heart to take another chance since I'm not a professional programmer nor a professional developer to deal with such bricks. It was a lucky chance when I had my OS back, but I do not know what would happen in the future.
I tested many one click root softwares on PC and most of them either stuck or tell me 'successfully' without any **** in my phone. Just rebooting like an idiot and nothing happened.
Sorry for my annoying thread. It's my first post here and I hope you guys understand my English well since it's not my Native Language. Apologize another time.
Peace, Ahmed.

If you flash cf auto root for 4.4.2 base on 4.3, your device is bricked. If you make rooted. Find compatible os and model cf auto root files.
Hello everybody!
I have come here in an attempt to see if someone knows a better way to upgrade me to Lollipop. First of all, I am on stock rooted Android 4.4.4 with TWRP. The reason I went stock rooted, was because I wanted to wait for CM12 to mature and iron out all of the bugs. Well, that is taking longer than I expected, and now I just want to have stock Lollipop at the least. Here is what I am having problems with.
I currently do not own a windows, mac, or linux pc device. I exclusively use Chrome OS in my home and I don't plan on changing that. I have thought about dual booting with linux/ubuntu, but I really don't feel like doing that until I feel that I am ready. Secondly, I have TWRP, which means I cannot accept the OTA Lollipop. I thought about installing the stock recovery, but it appears that I need to have ODIN to flash it, and well, ODIN doesn't run on Chrome OS and mobileODIN is not supported for the GN4. All the Lollipop ROMs that I have read, require stock Lollipop to run smoothly without any issues.
Since I do not have any of the options available, am I just screwed...or does somebody know some black market magic that they can offer? Well, thank you in advance for reading and responding. I appreciate all the help I can get.

Load all the stuff you need on a stick and do it at work. Only take about 20 minutes. Load the Stock ROM, HTC Drivers/sync, and then Odin on a stick.
The easiest idea that I believe is an option for you is to take your phone to Best Buy Samsung Experience store or Sprint store with tech support. Either will update it; no questions asked.
How did you root to start with? Then there's that again.
Look into Mobile Odin by Chain Fire in Google Play; it may be just what you need. Anyone find that useful and willing to share your experience?

Mobile odin does not work on note 4.
I tired taking it to the Samsung Experience at Best Buy and they told me I need to unroot first. Maybe I'll just borrow a friends computer
You might be able to uses flashify from the market and flash the stock recovery. Then try to unroot and take ota.
Hi there.
I have an LG G3 (D855) on Android 5.0. But its a good phone bogged down by slow updates by LG.
I want to enjoy & experience 5.1 like the G4 but i'm not an expert in rooting or flashing ROMs. And i heard you can only update using a Windows computer and not Mac. is this true?
Please help. Thanks.
Actually, you can use a mac to do this.
You will need to install windows on virtual box, vmware, etc..
If you have other question, don't hesitate.
Why would you need to have windows? Do you use a flashtool for this rom?
I've always flashed with mac, I don't like flashtools... Just flash a custom recovery with fastboot and you're good to go?
Many thanks.
Hi, i'm searching and cant find easy way how to root Nexus 7 on MMB290.
After update to MMB290 my wife's tablet get very laggy.
Has any one idea how to revert back ?
What android is suggested to this tablet ?
Sorry for such questions, but you know. If i don't find solution to my wife problems she will be very unhappy
Use this: https://autoroot.chainfire.eu/#fastboot
Find flo version, if u have wifi model. Otherwise use deb for LTE model. Go into fastboot, make sure ur device is unlocked, and just click "root-windows". After root is flashed, ur device will reboot a few times, so don't be scared that it is in boot loop, because it is not. That's it.
I've just flashed [ROM] [FLO] Bad Boyz Nexus 7 Stock Rooted | MMB29O | 6.0.1 | Updated 1.5.16

Works like a charm. All the work done for you, all you do is flash the ZIP in TWRP.

The suggestion I made flashes Marshmallow 6.0.1 already rooted with SuperSU 2.66 with BusyBox installed.
Doesn't wipe data. Easy.
This might help with your driver / cant find device issue. Once you have fastboot configured follow the instructions in post 2 and you will be good to go.
