Missing features in Windows Live Mobile <> Window Live Messenger alternatives?
Hi,
Why isn't Windows Mobile Live Messenger not the same as Windows Live Messenger?
A capability of video conferencing would be nice (like webcam or videoconference in Windows Live) or the other usual features (send pictures/voiceclips) but most easy is the direct envelope button to get in your hotmail via a cookie.
What's the latest version by the way and isn't there any official link to a cab or something?
If you know an alternative messenger with the above possibilities let us know!
I tested palringo, with this one I could send pictures and voiceclips...
Thanks,
Innovator

it's different because the device is massively lower spec than a home or office PC and streaming video calls over the mobile network could work out very expensive for the novice users who arent expecting it...plus most devices dont have a front-facing camera yet.
you can set up a favourite in internet explorer for your hotmail to automatically login if you want
alternatively, if you've got a decent data-plan you could set it up to sync "as items arrive" which will automatically update your mobile's hotmail account with your live hotmail account ... so theres no need to log in at all
i dont think you CAN download it separately, it tends to be cooked into the roms and so isnt user-upgradeable....but you might get lucky and find a link if you use the search on this site

isn't there any other program/tool for video conferencing then?
We can always turn our P3300 and look into the cam and turn back to the front screen, better then nothing...

ateksoft's webcam plaus will turn your phone's camera into a webcam, but doesnt have any conference facilities or anything. It will just let your desktop PC use your phone as a webcam (when connected)
dont know of any program to do what you want, but someone else here might

HELP! Info wanted on Pocket MSN

I have just upgraded my T-Mobile Mda Compact II for a Compact IV and although I knew it would no longer have the Pocket MSN application on, I was convinced that I could buy it from Microsoft still.
Unfortunately, that 'page can no longer be found' and although I have found a link from another site it specifies that it is for Windows Mobile 5.
Basically what this application does is allow you to use Messenger and Hotmail accounts without opening a browser window, Ie, Hotmail is just another account in your phone, along with Outlook and the SMS/MMS account, and it would seem I can't live without it!
Can anyone tell me if they know why it has been discontinued, if there is a newer version or if there is something else to replace it?
Thank you

application to send pics. from phone to internet?

does anyone know if there is a program out there that will send my pictures on my phone onto an internet picture hosting website? ie: iflickr, photobucket, etc. i remember when i had an iphone, there was a program for iflickr, where i could send pics. from my phone directly into my iflickr account. is there such a similar program out there for the xperia? TIA!
There's a good few; though there are 2 that I've had experience with, and can recommend solidly, depending on what you want.
Dashwire is the one that SE have promoted, by releasing a panel. The panel is crap, but the application works wonders. It runs in the background from the moment you turn your phone on, and synchronises your phone with its own online service, allowing you to synchronise contacts, missed calls, messages (message sync is buggy though), mobile bookmarks, as well as photos and videos. It doesnt synchronise with services like facebook of flikr, but you have your own profile page, which you can choose via the online private dashboard to make your pictures public.
My favourite though is Shozu. Shozu you CAN send to all your favourite internet services, and more. it has the ability also to interact with the services you use via feeds, for example on facebook, you can get your friends' status updates. Via shozus interface, you can choose the services you wish to incorporate with your phone, including secondary relay services if you choose (meaning one snap can send to both facebook AND flikr), and then when you take your photo, you are prompted "do you want to send...". within moments, your photo is on facebook!
I would well reccomend either, although based on what i've told you above, each has alot of differentiation, for example dashwire sends ALL photos, shozu asks for permission. Dashwire hosts on its own service, shozu syncs with popular ones. Shozu is limited to what it synchronises, dashwire sync's your PIM.
Its your own call, but those are the ones id recommend.

For all Windows Live E-Mail User with Problems !

For all those problems, the e-mail with Windows Live (no longer in the standby display off) Live come in here the better solution:
Get the inside scoop gmail account, which is indeed free. Thus Live Push Mail works with ActiveSync!

Windows Phone... IS IT?

I just don't get it...
Microsoft has the next:
Windows
Windows Mobile
Hotmail
Windows Live Services
Windows Phone
My phone
MS Exchange
IE Mobile
and still.... you cannot power on your windows phone... do the magic... and have all your live/hotmail data on it.... i just don't get it...
i know... you cand have emails and contacts.... BUT what about the rest...
- no more than 50 emails at once... no option to download the hole message...
- the sent mail are not saved on the phone (with the settings done right)
- adding a contact on the phone will stay only on the phone... if you would like it on live contacts... you have to do it manually... on the stock rom this ended in a error... i don't know with newer versions... but still...
- no photo contacts
- NO CALENDAR sync
- no upload to live services from the album.... HOW's THAT MS?... you have youtube, facebook... but not your own service?...
- no acces to skydrive... you cand do it for photos... but with a too simple interface.... facebook has much better integration with photos...
- MS My phone does it all regarding to syncing.... and that's it... why not interacting with the live corespondents?...
and others that i cannot remember...
BUT....
GMAIL can do Exchange
Facebook can do photo share
Youtube can do video share
Opera works way better than IE
and now... WHY DO THEY CALL IT WINDOWS PHONE???? it should be ANYBODY'S PHONE
all the MS competitors have much better integration on a MS platform than MS themselves
So... is there a chance will get this in the future?
This seems a bit of a rant, but it also seems something that Microsoft are certainly addressing with Windows Phone 7.
One minor note about Exchange though, is that there are no devices that implement the full and complete set of Exchange Activesync tricks, apart from Windows Phone. It is the best experience, when on a WP, and you get stuff like SMS syncing.

Sync Gmail and windows mobile 6.5 mail - Nobody?

I have this problem since I start using windows mobile about 2 years ago, I asked many times, Google groups, forums, etc; nobody answered about this. Am I the only one having this problem?
In Gmail you have stars to mark messages for fallow up, on windows mobile (Outlook) you have red flags.
Why don't these two sync properly? When I star a message in Gmail I expect a flag to appear on mobile device, and the other way around too.
The only email that did this was FlexMail, but this one doesn't have finger-friendly scroll (HTC HD1).
Anyone ?
That's where the 'mobile' in WM comes in. It basically means down'watered down'.
On your phone when looking at your Gmail account, click Menu>Tools>Manage Folders. From there it should have a folder called "Starred" with a box next to it. Click the box to enable that folder. And then sync Send/Recieve on your phone and now all the messages you have Starred on your Gmail account should show up in that folder on your phone.
And if you want to mark an email from your phone as Starred, just click on the email and go to Menu>Move, and then select the Starred folder.
Hope this helps
Yes, that works, but I hoped there is a more natural way. From local device I can also move it to starred in order to place a star on remote message but doesn't seem natural or usable I don't think windows mobile 7 works different eider.
I find it frustrating that for windows mobile there is no:
- Gmail dedicated application
- Skype
- Yahoo messenger
These are all popular services/apps and all of them are available for android and iPhone.
I don't know why Microsoft doesn't care about things like these, these are things that make you switch to another system. Microsoft should make popular applications available if there are none.
I agree, there are a lot of things that Windows Mobile should have that it doesn't. This is why it is dying and Android is taking over (which will be my next phone). If people like(d) WM then they should try the new Windows Phone 7, but in my opinion I don't think it comes close to being as good as Android.
BTW, there is a Skype app for Windows Mobile, I used to have it back when I used Skype but I don't have it anymore. The only downside to it that it is no longer in development. I'm not sure where I got it from but I'm sure it can be found by doing a google search. The last version released is 3.0, I believe.
Yes, there was* a Skype for windows mobile but they said they will discontinue it and as I remember it already doesn't work anymore.
It's like they all joined forces against windows mobile /microsoft.
I refuse to believe that Skype doesn't have the technical possibilities to keep a window mobile app available. It must be some marketing thing.
the Skype application is still running....
and easy to find for download if you need it
OK, I will test it again, last time it would not connect and I know when they took it offline they said it will only work to the end of 2010.
there was some "Skype Lite" version which no longer works, but I don't know that Lite Version at all, my normal Skype version is still working.
Maybe you check your connection settings in skype once again, make sure skype is allowed to use the mobil net as well (setting ActiveSync/WLAN/Mobil)
I have a normal Skype app on my WM phone.
There is no standalone application for yahoo messenger, but there are plenty of 'all-in-one' apps too.
And my Gmail works fine, I have it synced through Microsoft Exchange as well as regular mail. I have had no issues with it. Don't seem to know why you are..
The possibilities: I have the i920 and you have i8000 or b7610???
Also, I run build 23569 (COM 5/ 6.5.5) and it's quite fine for my every day use.
AND lastly, Android is progressing the way it is, because of 'open development' and WM/WP just has a bad rep from the past, and have a lot of catching up to do. They haven't yet hit their sweet spot. I could go on, but I'll stop here.
@nickmo20 can you sync local flags with remote stars from Gmail? That was my main issue. Other sync works fine.
i don't see a problem, i have 3 accounts of gmail, 2 of hotmail, yahoo, 1 of my work... all of them work very well... for other hand skype app works fine! exist a voip program for wm, its amazing... for chat i use palringo, (msn, yahoo, gtalk, aim, gg, ichat, aol, xmpp, facebook) i can send picture, send tag voice, send file, etc...i dont have problem, just run fine
Does the flag/stars sync work?
