WM6 and Tytn not really compatible!

Hello folks !
I wonder if anyone form the german useres here in this forum is happy with his wm6 german and hermes 200?
I tested till now each german rom I found so far (shaps all versions for example) and now got stuck with the official german form htc.
Not a single rom (incl. htc rom) works flawlessly! Sometimes the phone won´t wake up from locked mode and no alarm rings or tel call comes in. Sometimes the HW button "Accept call" wont work till you click the windows hw button. Or the bluetooth stack is a horror itself. The original !! car kit "Parrot 3200 LS" sometimes work and sometimes it rings but you heare nothin ?! or just wont connect at all.
I mean this is my business phone ? What the hell is this all about ? IT must be stable and reliable and not buggy.
Does anybody know a WM6 rom in german that WORKS perfectly ?? Or is WM5 the only way out ? And what radio is best for Austria Mobilkom ??
I am thankful for any kind of advise.
Cheers
firefoxy
Agreed, it is simply embarrasing for WM6 developing team at Microsoft, how they can deliver an os that isn't even capable of beeing used as a reliable alarmclock.....
Say hello to iPhone next time...
Never had this problem with a Symbian based phone either.

iPhone? No MMS? Outlook Sync Nightmare? No Stereo Bluetooth?
I'll better stick to wm5 until the iPhone gets grown up.
iPhone:
no mms, no umts, no flash, no java, no making video with the cam, no stereo bluetooth, battery not changable by users, no word writer, no excel writer.
What a kind of joke is that?

Disagreed!!
I had a Sony Ericsson P910i before, its Symbian based and I had some problems too.
It is possible to use it as an alarmclock - if you use enAlarm or any other app. I had to buy apps for my P910i to use it in that way I needed it, so for me its ok to buy some apps for WM to make it work.
Concerning iphone: well...... Its simlocked, you can't change the battery, its slow, its bull****. No sorry, its not bull****, its just a hype
And yes, I'm very happy with WM6. Currently I'm using Edhass superlite and its the perfect Rom for my needs. I never had missed calls or not announced alarms or sleeps of death. Wlan is working, Skype is working, all my other programs are also working. Its faster than WM5, its more reliable and its more responsive. But its not a german rom, its an English one.
IMHO Radio 1.48.00 was running very good in Austria, at least for ONE. I guess V 1.54 is also perfect for European users but as I'm not in Europe currently I can not test it.
Symbian VS Windows.. the battle will always continue..
Any day symbian is better than windows mobile becoz symbian is meant for mobile phone..i can say a million good things about symbian OS...
But its major limitation is the high security environment around it that prevents third party to modify the OS and make applications...
WIndows mobile has many many problems but its a very open OS compared to Symbian and so good...
For me third party applications are very important and so i my tynt is the best phone for me...
WM phones are more of PDA than a phone buy symbian is more of Phone than PDA...
P910i is the best handset ever released( smartphone i mean)
its sucessors have not kept the name.. that s why i shifted to windows mobile...

Iphone applications on HD

Well, i had the opportunity to use the Iphone for two months.
After that i sold it and bought as firstly intentioned HTC Touch HD, and i'm simply in love with it.
I must admit that Iphone has a couple of good applications.
I'm referring to the vWallpapers application that allows you to put short .mpg4 film as a wallpaper or to put it to play when having a incoming call.
I've searched the threads here but i couldn't find anything on that subject or I just didn't search well enafe
So, is it possible to put that application somehow on my HD or is there a similar Windows based application?
No.
iPhone applications are for thr iPhone, they're written to run on it's Mobile OSX operating system, not on WinMo.
i supposed that would be the answer...
but is there maybe some similar application designed for the WinMo platform?
The only app I can think of which can do animated wallpaper is that one, but it is meant to be used while your blackstone is charging in a cradle..
Thanks...
That's going in a good direction, and it maybe developes in a good app, but is not totally what i wanted.
I wanted something that would be integrated with the TouchFlo.
But thanks for the help anyway...

e-mail application

Hello every body,
i love my touch HD but i've got a real problem : i hate the e-mail soft of WM
is ther an application finger friendly with html picture reading ?
don't answer me fleximail or proximail, i've tried both and i'm really desappointed
thanks at all
NB : is there finger friendly OS ? i think about all parameters windows where there are a lot of small icons or places where write (editing a contact - change time...)
and once again, sorry for my english
There is none except Profimail which is a great emailprogram but not very fingerfriendly. I've been looking for it too.
Isn't it strange that no one have made a better emai client during all years win mobile has been on the market??
I also own the iPhone and I really must say that the interface of the email client on the iPhone is really great, nice looking, fast and fingerfriendly.
But expect that... what is iPhone compared to the Touch Hd with dutty rom
If I knew how to make apps, I would make a new email-app for win mobile and make many people happy... but I don't, so maybe there is someone else who knw how to port the iPhone app to windows mobile?

windows vs android

i just have to say even though i am living with my desire and android if you think windows was worse with all its faults it wasnt, i so fed up with how poor android is that i have to come and say android is **** as **** as windows ever was so ram a sock in it ahh feel better.
Seems like you wouldnt get along with ANY operating system... maybe even iOS is too hard to handle for you.
Solution: Get a Dynatac 8000 by Motorola. It was the first of all MobilePhones and should totally cover your needs
Seriously, learn to give some arguments when you already decided to post some bul*s#@t
Greets Mate
Windows better!
I assume you are talking about your windows double glazing of your home, if that is the case Andriod is useless in comparison and I agree!
If you are talking about Windows Pocket PC in comparison then I can only assume you have not turned your Desire on yet!

Off topic.
I'm loving that Motorola
Just imagine the hardware they could fit in that if someone had the balls to make a phone that big today?
I have a Dynatac 8000 on my mantle peice .
The one on there dynatec 8000 is perfect.
Could we please get some pertinent, on-topic comments here? I am also interested in a realistic comparison between these two OS, cause I am about to switch from WM to Android and I'm not sure I will have the same functionality...
Thanks in advance.
Conrad
Well, I switched from WinMo 6.1 on an HTC Touch Cruise. It had a nice custom ROM and worked very well.
The Desire is just fabulous to hold and play with, but it doesn't do any more than the Win phone. Desire screen is beautiful and so much more responsive than the old one. Internet surfing is much better.
Having flashed the old phone's ROM many times, you might think that I'd jump in to doing the same with the Desire, particularly as it only has 2.1 not Froyo yet.
But, I'm nervous about it ..... all this talk of rooting drives me up the wall!
And, I have to buy sat nav all over again - Middle east, Europe and South Africa - there goes 200 Euros! (no, Google directions don't work here).
Sorry to ramble on.
HTH.
Right. I miss my Pocket PC. I miss how ActiveSync would lose the partnership every so often. And how I had duplicates everywhere in Outlook after I re-created the partnership.
Are you for real? Android wins over WinMo 6.5 anytime. I have used a WinMo device for over 2 years and Android is a hell lot better then WinMo, and no, it is not even as unstable as WinMo.
I love android but i find it so unstable, unrooted stock. Killed the original sd card, my new sd card is partly corrupt. Stupid apps issue no space (i know u can root but u shouldnt have to).
Otherwise android has loads of pros against winmo and id choose android any day.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
(taking about stock android, not htc stuff on top of it)
Missing loads of stuff from good winmo. Also missing customer support (non existent for android).
Missing a proper bluetooth stack.
Missing a robust email client
Missing a sync that doesn't pixelate pictures
Missing a functional gallery
Missing the birthday and anniversary field
Missing a call recording app
Missing proper gsm/wav support
Missing a real install to sdcard function
Missing a real integration with Office
Missing the fact that however limited, winmo worked out of the box, android is a permanently beta product, needing hacks or waiting for updates
Missing a stylus (hehe)
Missing a properly moderated forum and a more mature audience
But I agree that htc sense on top of android is miles ahead of manila on top of winmo, especially since you are comparing winmo devices quite older than desire & co.
You can't compare the two. It's like comparing an amiga 2000 to a pentium powered PC
Sent from videotext, using the remote
what have you got against the Amiga 2000 !! >:d
I went with android because I believe Google is slightly less evil than Microsoft.
As far as the os is concerned they both have pros and cons, its down to personal preference in the end.

Yes, there was an email address and a phone number.android has forum support, which is non existent
Missing a proper bluetooth stack. - no its not get your facts straight
Android bluetooth stack is really poor and unstable
Missing a robust email client - yet again no its not lol
Gmail client has only recently fixed some major bugs about quotation and links. Stock email client is lacking a lot of functions
Missing a sync that doesn't pixelate pictures - oh no thats a deal breaker lol

Missing a functional gallery - erm ok if ya say so pal
3D android gallery is slow, dodgy and has an awful crop function for contacts
Missing the birthday and anniversary field - no its not duh
Stock android contacts don't have those fields
Missing a call recording app - only a perv needs to record calls lol
I won't even comment that
Missing proper gsm/wav support - yes just what we all need a hasbeen audio codec lol

Missing a real install to sdcard function - nand chips are big enough these days this isnt needed....
Funny you have a desire with 120 MB for applications...
Missing a real integration with Office - it neva guna happen end of the day use your head
Use what ? Have you ever worked in a professional environment?

I forsee in the future an new all encompassing OS called WinDroid mwuahahahaaa *cough*
I've used both, WinMo 6.5 on a hd2, and Android 2.2 on a Desire. The Desire I found is brilliant and really shows how much both Android devices and the Android operating system have come on since the initial release (my first android was a htc Hero running cupcake).
WinMo is good, i just find Android does better, the things I require from a mobile device. I guess its the apps that are streets ahead on Android, and the amount of free ones available. Windows mobile app development has pretty much come to a grinding holt, and even the apps that are available for both platforms, they seem so much better on Android (facebook app is a good example).
Also its interesting using the touch screen on WinMo 6.5 on the hd2 and also using it on Android on the hd2 also. Its like your using a different handset? The screen is so much more responsive using Android its unreal.
I really like the hd2 but after using the desire aswell, the Desire running 2.2 is my weapon of choice.
Of course the desire has my preference at the moment, of course it's also one generation ahead of my old touch hd.
My post was to point out some aspect of the immaturity and - at times - non-professional aspects of android.
It isn't out yet, but give me wp7 over the same desire hardware and I'm not so 100% sure which I will choose between htc sense and wp7. Give me stock android vs wp7 and I will choose wp7 blindly. Give me winmo 6.5.3 vs stock android and I will choose stock android very reluctantly.
I don't give so much importance if android has 20000 games, 30000 cool apps, etc. I only need 10-20 well made programs.

Is Video enabled skype coming to WM 6.1?

Does anyone know if this new video enabled version of Skype is being ported to Windows Mobile (6.1) devices like the Touch Pro? Any timeframe.
Thanks,
Joe
Skype for Windows Mobile is not supported anymore ...
certainly not.
why?
because winmo 6.1 is purely and simply dead.
because winmo 6.5 is also in the graveyard with his little brother.
because skype has made already an end to this both plateform.
hahah hardly
wm6.x is hardly dead. is much more versatile than i-app-phone or goo-OS app crap...
Skype is losing revenue because there will be many that wont switch to limited os app based garbage.
cell phones in general are becoming dead in the beginnings of losing like landlines were 10 years ago... and there are other voip alternatives. you just have to look for them.
Salt at all, someone can tell me if there is a link to download a version of Skype running on a Samsung i900 Omnia with windows mobile 6.1 pro.
thank you for your interest.
Hi yann73 , in yahoo or in google search for "skype windows mobile" , look for the link that says "Skype Windows Mobile ... v3.0.0.256" , download file from a trustworthy site.
There are two types of files out there, one is a cab, another is exe, same version. Get the "exe" version.
Connect your Windows Mobile phone with your windows (pc/desktop/laptop) computer thru ActiVeSync type of sync software.
then run/execute the 'exe' version installer, it will install necessary stuff in ur computer first, then rightaway it will start to transfer+install inside ur Phone.
In my experience, i wasnt able to make the cab version worked on Phone, but the exe version when installed in Phone sync connection then it worked, ur experience may vary.
If audio doesnt work properly then you will also need the "WM Audio Redirector.zip" or AudioRoute, a free soft, search here in xda-dev.
As below phones are similar to mine, it should work on all of them : HTC Touch Diamond, Touch Diamond2, Touch HD, Touch HD2, Touch 3G, Mogul/Titan 6800, Kaiser / TyTN II , P4550 & Samsung Omnia i900.
That will allow to use Audio & Text chat . No Video chat support on that version of skype , unless some1 makes a VideoRoute software for it, like AudioRoute.
