WM6 Vanilla question

I just upgraded to WM6 Vanilla on my 8525. I now no longer have access to the internet through the 3G data service.. Also the keyboard is messed up.. I could careless for WM5.. this phone was seriously pissin me off with WM5.. it was so slow and froze up all the time.. etc. Things seem a lot faster with the WM6 Vanilla.. but I'd like to have more features..
I'd appreciate some help.. I read and searched as much as possible but most of these threads have 30+ pages
PS. Wireless doesn't work either.. the Wifi won't turn on.
I really want to keep WM6.. I just want the full features of WM5 along with it..

Perhaps you should do some more reading then. If you look at the thread with a title something like XDA Live issues (its in consolidated sticky), you'll find a fix for your keyboard - I'm assuming you're running an 8525 or whatever you US guys call it?
I don't know why you flashed Vanilla as well, you'd have been better off with XDA Live.
Your internet problem is due to not having the settings for your provider now. You might find the answer in a thread, there might be an ExtROM cab you can run to get the settings, or you might have to find them on the providers website and manually enter them.

I would like to keep PTT.

I just tried XDA... not appealing to me. I like Vanilla.. just not so damn plain.. wish it was full feature.

dont you get it...its not meant to have any extras just plain "vanilla", if you want extras just add them as most stuff wotrks if you install it, ive got vannila with only what i need, tomtom and my provider settings, and works perfect for me

I'm an F'n newb to this stuff.. so no I don't get it .. lol.
I just put vanilla back on...
So now the question is, how do I find out what cingulars 3G (EDGE) information is so I can get that working again.. and also how can I get Wifi working.. currently it will not even enable(turn on) the wifi...

Sorry to tell you, neither WM6 Rom supports PTT.
Actually Vanilla can't support it (need to swap some important system files and it can't be done with a cab file) whereas there are a couple of people working on getting it to work with WMXL (WM XDA Live)...

Txt & Talk

Ok So Am I the only Asshole That txts and Talks at the same time ? Seems Like Every other ROM I Choose to Upload seem to Not Capitalize on this FIX. Really GREAT, FAST & STABLE Roms Seem to Just Look the Other Way Like this doesn't Bother them or Don't really care. I mean Not sure how many other People Multi-Task on There TyTn but I"m on IE,Writing an Email, WHile Recieving Txt message And on the Phone RELIGIOUSLY ! I can't see how this isn't Bothering Other Users or Basically not a Must in Some of the Great Roms. I've gone To Great Lengths To Annoy The **** out of Rom Cookers lol Constantly Reminding them or At least Post in there threads that This Bug does Occur in the ROM. Updates are released Yet there its Still Not Fixed ??
I mean Am I the only ONE ? I love to Test New Roms when They Come out. I"m on a new ROM every other Week And Usually the only Thing that Keeps me from Testing them More than a Week for Two is the "In Call Fixed Keyboard"
I really Wish this was an Easy Cab Fix But Unfortunately With Numerous Post in Different Threads And talking to Different Cooks it appears to be Something You have to Cook into the ROM(Something to have to do with the Keyboard.dll File)
This Is Just An Inquiry into How many People this Really bothers and/or effects Not to Mention a Desperate Hope to Make this Fix a Standard in Every Rom. I mean Seriouly How many Roms do you See that you Still have to Use the PTT Fix ? Not Many So Why This Problem Still ? ? ?
When I cook My Own From Using "mattk_r" Kithcen I Don't have this Problem ?
So I'd like other members to post about this ? Just Curious about what other people think Or am I Just knit picking ?

I just tried this and have the problem also. While I don't normally txt while on the phone I'm sure it will happen at some point.
So yes I would like to see this fix cooked in also..

It is something that cooks often "forget" to fix..and some just don't know how the heck to fix it. Also, if you decide to fix the keyboard issue, you cannot map hot voice to button 5. Somebody will always be complaining. It is one of those things that when you patch a hole, another hole appears. Things just get overlooked sometimes, and it takes a few revisions to get the Rom to a stable stage. Regardless all my Roms have the keyboard fix - you can text with HW k/b and call at the same time.

Very True.... I've heard of the double Edge Sword as far as people not being able to Fix them ? how did you ? or you mean Fixing this without th Double Sided Problem of "Hot Voice" ?

i usually end up back with vp3G's last rom because of this. I've been trying others, but it's just too much of a pain to not have the keyboard while in a call. I usually try a new rom for a while then need to use the keyboard while in a call and end up re-loading vp3G's rom.

Like I said, you either have to pick the keyboard fix, or hotvoice mappable to button 5. Unfortunately there isn't a way to have both working. I thought I nailed it at one point but apparently I didn't, so I decided to stick with the keyboard fix as I do occasionally surf and talk at the same time. If the bug was not reported to the cook, it could be overlooked.

I have the same issue. I am always on the phone and texting and I have to tell the person to call me back so I can finish the txt. I would loooove to se a fix to this.

There is no Patch or Quick cab Fix for this. The Keyboard.dll Needs to be Cooked into the ROM. However if you use one of the Roms I"ve Stated Above or Build ur own you won't have this Issue.

HTCActivityLogExe.exe keeps using all my memory...

It started with NRG's rom redone by ricky & stylez... Thought maybe it was ROM specific... so I switched to NRG Latest version (not modded by rick & stylez)... and the same thing has started happening.
Whenever I try to open anything (messaging, celetask, commanager, etc)... I get a low/insufficient memory error)... sometimes the phone freezes up at this point, and I have to unplug the battery to restart it.
Sometimes if I get this error, i can still get into celetask, and end the "htcactivitylogexe.exe" and it frees up nearly ALL of my memory.

I searched the thread for "HTCACTIVITYLOGEXE.EXE", no results... and I searched for registry, and none of the posts referred to this problem? Could you post a shortcut?

I cant find much on the subject either... i am running the stock 6.5 rom and getting the error.... My google search on it brought me here... Would love a fix for it...

You can disable it via the registry by changing the Dword Value of course or your delete WeatherApp.exe, WeatherUpdateService.exe

TMOUS Keyboard Fix

I can't find anyone that has posted one yet, but I have made one for all you that have one and have the screwed alt key! The registry file is attached! It is not a hack at all. Just a registry export that worked!

edit2//Also, just an FYI for everyone, the TMO keyboard has the GBP and Euro symbols on the hardware keyboard, it just wasn't put on the key itself. It is the same keys as the HTC version for them. alt+e = euro and alt+r = pound symbol.
edit3//Make sure HLKM\Software\Tegic\eT9\Ime\KeyboardLayouFiles shows et9.rhodium.wwe.txt. Otherwise, the layout will still be messed up.

To be fair though, you get some of the credit. Your suggestion in that other thread is what made me do it. It took me about 1 hour of poking around.

Can any onecab this up for easy install? That would rock, changing values to match though reg editor does not work!

Just use Task Manager to import it. It worked for me.

Wow, I posted about this problem today and now their is a fix to it. You guys work fast and I didn't even get a chance to get use to the ctrl key that sub for the alt key.

so what exactly is the problem with the tmobile us alt key anyway? i just got my tp2 yesterday and haven't really noticed a problem with it?

This is only an issue for people with cooked roms.

Well my Rom is stock but I'll be sure to remember this if I flash a new one.

This fixes the alt key, for sure. But what about the shortcuts on the arrows? Those are still incorrect, for me. Is this a separate problem? I assumed it should be related, due to the fact that the shortcuts on the unlocked devices are different than the T-Mobile shortcuts.

As noted by the thread title, this ONLY applies to the TMO (T-Mobile) US branded TP2. It applies to NO other branded or unbranded TP2 devices. It fixes the keyboard layout changes that were implemented on the TMOUS TP2. The Alt, ctrl, and a few other keys had some changes.
To fix your keyboard, flash back to the original rom, export the same reg key that is in the first post, and then apply that to the newly flashed rom.

Help with BSB latest Rom (6.5.1A/S)..Putting it out the the masses to help out!

You change the repeat rate from registry
\HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd\RepeatRate default 8->4 (or less)
Had no probl. w. double tap to zoom in Opera. You can check the Opera setup with about:config from your browser

I've tried another keyboard 2! 'fingerkeyboard' which is really nice and looks great, but it does the same thing!! last build (6.5q) worked fine and the same way as my original 6.1 rom.
Also with opera, I had alook at the config options, but could not see an option to enable double tap to zoom! I dont suppose you know a registry tweak for that aswel do ya??

Can any1 help??! is no-one else that upgraded to Bsb 6.5.1 A/S finding that texting is slower??! its not just the keyboard tho...I notice even when I'm scrolling in Opera or through my list of programmes, I flick my finger quite fast (Like I used to on the other roms) yet the screen does not keep up like it used to!! It gives me the vibration feedback on every finger stroke, but only scrolls if I move my finger abit slower!! someone who upgraded must have the same problem??! plz help..there must be a registry tweek out there sumwhere to increase the reaction speed of the screen..??

Like I said before, I think your Roms are really great and I love this new version so much that I dont even want to revert back to the un-finger friendly versions, so I think I will just wait for your diamond to get fixed and for a new update to come out!! I think I can handle it until then!! Have they said your diamond can be fixed then??? your not upgrading and abandoning your precious diamond quite yet??!
Anyways, cant wait to see what new tricks you have up your sleave! keep up the good work and thanks again for your reply and putting my mind at ease!!

i dunno they just took it at the shop and said that they would send it to SAT.. ofc if they find out that im using custom roms they wont fix it but my diamond was really DEAD (i hope )

Well, for your sake, I hope they cant so u can get the upgrade! I love the feeling of a fresh new gadget to mess around with!! for all of us who rely on and love our diamonds to bits, I hope u get it back so u can carry on making that great rom!
in the meanwhile, can u suggest a version of your rom that doesnt have the screen problem I mentioned, yet still have those nice finger friendly menu's? or maybe another rom by another developer that u can suggest?? I would really appreciate ur advise...u seem like u kno what ur talkin about! lol
