Hi everyone!
Using tools found in Buzzdev's site, I tried to change the splashscreen on my Uni, but something failed. I tried it 3-4 times with correct images (480x640 bitmap 24bit converted in rsb) but after telling me that the update is made, it makes a soft reset and the image that appears is completely messed up!
Also, before making this thing, it remained in the blank initial screen for 1-2 seconds, now it stays there for 15 seconds!!! Everytime I make a SR I fear that it's bricked!!!
Any help is very appreciated...

Good luck,
Take a look over here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=399403&highlight=bootscreen
I read everything in those 3ds but nothing helped me.
I tried 2 more times to change the splashscreen and I obtained another messed up image, but now the blank screen has a normal behavior: it appears for 2 seconds.
Even if I haven't received error messages I tried to install rapi.cab and SdkCerts.cab, but nothing changed. Trying to install htc_certs it says that it has to unistall the previous customization tools. Have I to continue uninstalling?
Another question: I didn't entered in bootloader mode, was I supposed to?
In edit:
@orb3000: oh yeah, I voted long time ago for our great Uni!
I add another thing: when Uni boots the image is totally messed up, but when I try to flash another image the backup is correct!
I tried to install htc_certs, but nothing changed, except that now it takes more time to boot...
Ok, here are the news:
I found this post that took me to this one.
According to Tomal's instructions, I tried to remove the first 28 byte from the .rsb header, but no program could open it, due to missing header.
I tried to change the initial offset from the batch file (without editing the .rsb file) but nothing changed, same messed up image on boot.
So question is: what am I supposed to do now? Install a rom with a different splashscreen, edit qhat I want and then revert to Tomal's rom? Seems too long to do!

As far as I know you donĀ“t have to reflash a ROM to have a new splash screen.
When I change mine just made a hard reset and voila! my new splash was there with the same ROM I was using
Good luck,
Nope.
That didn't work for me...
Any other idea?
Ok, half fixed everything.
I tried to flash my Uni with a Rom without flash disk and with a new splash screen. I used this one.
Obviously, flashing went wrong and my uni was stuck in the boot screen with a brand new splash screen! Now, I got a new splash screen with a bricked Uni...
Uff...
So I tried to enter boot loader. It did. Tried to install Tomal's 8.5, but again I obtained a bricked Uni.
I used mtty to format DOC and everything worked.
Then I installed again Tomal's 8.2 and my Uni is now working again.
But formatting DOC erased also splash screen!
So I don't have a splash screen at all.
Now, looking back I suppose that next time my ego will try to tell me that a wonderful brand new splash screen would bring my Uni to another level of power, I'll take one finger of mine and close it in the first door I find... That would solve everything.

Tomal, you're great!
My idea was to use the splashscreen attached, but I was also wondering what is necessary to do for install it into a nk.nbf file.
You said that the header (the first 28 byte) has to be removed, then the .rsb file has to be inserted on the address 0x3f00000, but this is the (absolute?) address on the Uni memory, I don't know how it is managed on the .nbf file...
So, if I convert to .bin (or something like it) the .nbf file and with an hex editor I insert on the correct address the image everything should be fine?
My next question is: how the upgrade utility decides to update or not the splashscreen? Seems that something other has to be changed...
That's one of my screens, it's ready for flashing as you can see here:

Infact I took it from yours!
But, as specified in the other posts, with Tomal's rom seems impossible to use the standard procedure...
Perhaps the only way is to insert the splash screen directly in the rom and flash everything at once.

Nope, don't be upset. I have another way. But you need to consider a HR, so do a backup before start.
Attached you'll find the splash and flashing tools. nk.nbf only contains the splash so your rom will be untouched.
Burn the splash in the regular way...
Once again, nothing good...
I used your last method, flashed the splashscreen, only soft-reset the device, the splashscreen appeared correctly, but it didn't boot.
So, I flashed your 8.5 standard (the special one has rltoday, but I don't like it so much...) and correctly finished the procedure. Once again, device didn't boot.
Used mty, format DOC, flashed again and now it works... Without splashscreen!
So, according to me the only way to restore a splashscreen on my device is to flash another rom which doesn't use flashdisk, change bootscreen and flash back to yours (for me is the best).
Too hard for me: flashing device contains a little danger every time you do it. It's time to leave my Uni with a rom for more than 3 days!!!
Tomal, once again, thank you for your support!!!!!!

The thing is I tried to unlock and upgrade the software for my Universal (by the way a corporative one, so I'll be in big problem if I can't restore it). When it was done I tried to boot it, and it stopped in the QTEK boot screen. Now I need to restore it, to get it working again. Maybe the good news is that, actually, many employees around have Universal, so it'll be easy for me to get one of them to copy the original software. The thing is that I don't want to jeopardize or end up killing my mate's Universal, with mine was enough. It will be cool to know how to do it, cuz then I'd be able to post here the software for SPANISH ORANGE/AMENA Universals. Any help will be highly appreciated.
Thanks to all.
If you are stuck in the bootloader screen (dark screen with serial or USB on it), it is relatively easy to recover from this. Look for this via search
If you are stuck on the bootsplash screen (the first screens the universal shows when you boot it up) then you have killed the disc-on-chip and the unit needs to be turned in for repair. Look foor MTTY to download a software that, when istalled, can be used to confirm this (task 28 gives errors).

Usually just a re-flash with a different ROM sorts this out. You need to put the device into bootloader and don't worry if windows complains and *****es about not recognising the device, it will update so long as the DOC isn't lost.
try this thread.... it will be helpful

Sorry to open a new thread, but I want to ask is there any method to fix this problem apart from using Mitty?
I tried flashing LVSW 3-26 firmware using SPL 1.06 or the 1.1x, both gave me the end results of white screen.
I am newbie to Mitty and worry of bricking my device with Mitty.
Can anyone suggest what I could do to cast the white screen away?
Desperately in need of help.
Thanks
I see by the sorry for a new thread you have read
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299644
I am with you. Right now I would go to a different version. The previous LSVW or another build. I am trying the mtty thing but I am running vista and cannot get NBHextract to work.
If you do not want to risk it maybe holding off a day and checking back for an update. These guys are fast. Also like I said go to a different version. I flashed the revious LSVW os only and it worked 3 times in a row perfect
When you say white screen what do you mean?? You get a white screen and the device doesnt boot?? or the device has a white today screen?
people
for black 1.3 i will release two versions
one with SPL and OS (with RUU 3.6)
and
one with only OS using standard RUU (assuming you already have HardSPL)
this will give u an option

The White Screen for me is i can see the HTC Flash screen, but the Windows Mobile screen becomes white without me even seeing it and the Today screen is also white also.
Also, i was wondering if using Hard-SPL might help?
Thanks
nope i am using hard spl and tried it still white screen
Me too....
I also got the white screen of death. lol.
i used the version that was posed on the main page. After the update and initial boot the white screen comes on.
I was able to bypass this after several resets. Then it will start the customisation process. After which it will restart and go to a white today screen with no icons. I do have the task bars at top and bottom but no dialer.
My fix. I went and dl RUU_HER_6.20.100.0_0.00.00.00_XDA_WWE_XBOW_Custom. I installed it and works like it did before.
I will wait till there is a fix for this...
BTW I have a cingular 8525

After hours and sleepless night, and so many flashes i think the NAND in my dopod was hot enough to fry a breaky for me, i've come to the comclusion, i have 100%, no issue success with all ROMS, using 1.01MFG and MTTY flashing each part seperatly. Not one time has a white screen appeared, with ANY rom, and i've tested all the current WM6 roms.
I d/l'd and tried the latest LVSW rom (26/3) and have exactly the same issue when using the packaged RUU to install it. However, when i use MTTY, its perfect every time.
I would suggest the following steps
1. Load into the bootloader mode (HOLD POWER/OK buttons and press soft reset)
2. Flash SPL-1.01MFG onto your device (Read wiki info and file links here)
3. Once flashed, reboot and do step one again to get back into boot mode. You should now see your boot as 1.01MFG
4. Use NBHextract to extract 06_OS.nb file from RUU_signed.nbh file found in downloaded rom package.
5. Load up MTTY, follow steps in the wiki for the 1.01MFG on how to flash OS.nb (OS.nb is the 06_OS.nb file renamed to make it easier)
6. Once flash is complete, the latest rom is installed and you won't have a white screen
7. Now flash Hard SPL v4 onto your devic for safety reasons.
And this fix is EASY to do, 100% works every time.
Click to collapse
It worked 100% for me first time.
Just for the record I used ROMbaker to get the 06_os.nb then just rename it to os.nb.
Also if you are not sure and feel nervous about bricking it, then just wait for a proper fix.
Finally I got the white screen a few times and everytime I flashed the previous LSVW os only the device worked perfect. From my reading Olipro may have found the problem haveing to do with bad blocks. Nothing major but I believe they are working on it currently.
If you follow these directions and install 1.01MFG, you can BRICK YOUR DEVICE with ANY mistake!
We're not talking about a brick that can be fixed either. You precious phone will become a paper-weight forever more! Really.
I DON'T CARE WHAT THE N00BS ON HERE SAY; FLASHING 1.01MFG IS **NOT** A RECOMMENDED WAY TO FIX THIS PROBLEM! DO NOT INSTALL 1.01MFG UNLESS YOU ARE OK WITH THE CHANCE THAT YOUR PHONE WILL BE BROKEN FOREVER!!

Just a quick question off the cuff, what was the last(est) version (can you provide a link) that i can flash to now .. (not mucking around seperating stuff etc) that wont give me the white screen issue.
I am currently sitting on LSVW 25/3 1.38.10 radio and 1.13oli

mmm you mean u flashed da original splash screen instead of HTC and then it worked fine?
If you have hard spl (looks like you have) then try flashing from the SD card. (If nothing else has worked - read all the guides/threads)
Just save the nbh as HERMIMG.nbh (make sure you have not created HERMIMG.nbh.nbh) in the root directory of your SD card, and then hold the power and OK buttons on each side of the phone, whilst pushing the stylus in the reset slot.
Hold it in for a mo.
Sometimes take a few goes.
It should come up with a loading grey screen.
It will give details of the nbh it has found (ie mine only said OS), and says something like push the power button to update.
Thank God for Hard spl.
Did this for the first time yesterday after apparently badly cooking a rom. Got stuck on HTC screen not bootloader, but this sorted me out.
Big relief.
ooohh , big relief man that was hectic moments i ended up flashing shcaps 3.57a ROM because his 3.54b ROM doesn't have spalsh screen included. but there is one question remains unsolved for me and that is why i got error during flashing only splash screen??? could it be splash screen file was corrupt?
im happy my baby is alive again
I'd more like to know how to make a musicial start tone with the splash screen. example HTC's offical rom has a nice animated splash with a musical tone. I've looked at the templates and examples and there's plenty of easy to understand aspects of a still splashscreen but can't seem to find anything that shows how to craete an animated with music splash screen like HTC's
any idea's?
As per title says, can anyone provide the original screen? like upon start up, ever since installing Diamond Project V2, i get the "Diamond Project" on starting up. I would like to send my device for warranty purposes and installing original rom doesnt change it.
I did do a search and found ways to CHANGE the splash screen, but no files regarding for the original splash screen.
Any help would be deeply appreciated

Sorry to interrupt. You can get it at http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=101004&stc=1&d=1216742608 and just run the executable file by:
1. Make sure your device is HardSPLed (Of course you do)
2. Goto bootloader by pressing both the volume down key and reset key. You can release the reset key but not the volume down key until you see the tri-colour screen.
3. Connect the USB cable
4. Run the executable file (inside the archive) when you see USB is written on the device screen.

got it from this post which just shows Touch Diamond

I used the Diamond Custom Ruu by the diamond project team. Got rid of first splash screen.
It worked for me...
But there is a way of getting rid of the "Nice to see you" screen?
Go to here to get orginal htc animation on post 4
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=407881&highlight=splash
copy animation on to internal memory. Use Total commander to copy and paste animation onto /windows on your phone. It should paste over the 'nice to see you' animation. Reboot
if it dont work try below and redirect your registry to use the new animation.

Then I downloaded Energy 23544 with MaxManila Mar 09. Sync'ed with WMDC, Ran Custom RUU, It says it flashed ok. Now it just sits at the "Toch Pro2" startup screen. Can anyone tell me what I missed and if there is anyway to fix it?

Need more info like who is your carrier...the problem you are describing sounds like you flashed a gsm rom (t-mobile and at&t) to a cdma phone (sprint and verizon). If that is the case you need to flash back to stock rom then grab the energy rom from here for the CDMA phone
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=86489
hopefully you did not brick your phone...good luck
Seems like you've done everything right. Just note that first time flashes usually take a while to load on the first boot before customization procedures.
If the phone doesn't budge, try a hard reset. To Hard reset your phone, Turn it completely off (remove and reinsert battery if needed), then hold down the Send and End and the power button. It should load the SPL and then ask you if you want to Hard Reset, press the Volume Up key to accept.
If the Hard Reset doesn't work, download a stock ROM, and flash that via the bootloader. If the stock ROM works, try to flash the Energy ROM again.
To enter the bootloader, Hold down the Volume Down key while turning on your phone. or hold it down and while pressing the reset button.
Hopefully you can get this sorted.

That could be the case, but he sucessfully flashed a HardSPL, so he could just enter the bootloader and flash his stock ROM to continue operation of the phone.
When he responds about who his carrier is and which TP2 he has, we'll go from there.

Yes, with HardSPL you can flash the nbh file from the microSD card, but I recommend you flash using your PC via USB. It would save you the hassle of trying to find and extract the NBH.
Well it wouldn't update via the PC because it wouldn't connect. I did find and rename the nbh file and put it on another sd card. It is updating now with the stock ROM. Then its back to the drawing board if this works.
Thank - I'll update and give other noob idiots my story when all is good. (still having fingers crossed)

Hmm... HardSPL usually enters USB mode when the bootloader is run and a USB cord is connected, but I'm glad you got your phone flashing either way. Good luck.
My problem was definitely the wrong ROM version.
For anyone else as dumb as me, this is what my problem was...
Everything seemed to flash ok originally (the program said it was successful). Then it restarted and the phone would not go past the "Touch Pro2) screen. There was nothing else on the screen.
and here is what I did to fix it...
Got another SD card and formated to fat32.
Extracted the proper original ROM.exe file using winrar.
Placed the .ngh file in the root of the card with the name rhodimg.nbh
Insert the sd card in the phone and restart into the bootloader screen
When it asked if I wanted to load the ROM, I of course did what it said
When it finished I removed the sd card and pressed the reset button
It took a while but everything loaded ok.
Then I started over with the ROM I wanted (this time using the correct CDMA version). Again everything seemed to go ok. This time when it rebooted, on the "touch pro2" boot screen there was additional text at the bottom indicating the cooked ROM I installed.
Thank you to everyone who helped me understand what I did wrong and I hope noone else is as dumb as me, but if you are there is hope.
Thanks
Steve

No biggie, you're very welcome. We all are noobs at some point of our existance and we all make mistakes. I'm just glad you were able to learn from yours and recover, in addition to pointing out to others what went wrong. Have fun with your new ROM.

Actually as paperweight's go, it's a damn sexy one
But I would prefer a working phone any day
I do have to say that I am drooling at the possibilities of this phone. Just have to take things a little slower.
I did the same thing basically. I tried a gsm rom on my us cellular phone. didnt know that they conflict at that point.
what rom do i need to flash to get my phone back?
Here is a good place to start...

I am very happy with the Energy Rom's, but that is a whole different discussion.
Or you can go back to the stock ROM which you can get at ppcgeeks also.

Well I just flashed my first ROM and thought I followed everything to the letter. I ran HardSPL, it completed, and I verified that it was done in the bootloader screen.
Thanks

hit the red reset button on the right. mine did that also, and that is what I did, and it came back up without a problem.
STOCK ROM
FYI, the stock ROM, original ship ROM can be found here at the htc mobile phone product support page. It comes as an *.exe and you double click once in the bootloader screen and it works
I had a problem where I flashed with a new rom, and it went to the white screen. I had to flash with the original ROM and it came back to life! yay.
