Latest version of SmartDialing with support of different languages and possibility to install on devices without SmartDialing preinstalled is here
Russian T9 for Phone Pad Input v1.0 build 21215 (IntelliPad), also add possibility to enter ukrainian letters (not T9)
This is result of some kind team-work of me (ValeraVi), and mamaich 8). After installing PhonePadT9Rus_v...cab you will be able to write russian words in Phone Pad Input by using T9. Also this adds support of writing russian and ukrainian words (when russian database is selected in options of Phone Pad). Ukrainian letters is not fit on virtual buttons but it is on buttons with similar russian letters. English letters is also exist - it can be entered only if you select english database in options on Phone Pad.
Tested on HTC Blue Angel with clean WM5 ROM Tuma v1.3, but it must work on any device with version of Phone Pad specified above (HTC Wizard for ex.).

Russain, Ukrainian, English contacts search in Smart Dialing v2.2 build 21176 (IntelliDial)
After installing V_SmartDialRusUkrEng_v....cab you will be able to search contacts written not only in English, but also on Russian, Ukrainian and also with spaces and "+" symbol 8) ... If you want to and support of other languages / symbols - read readme.txt for attached archive.
This is same as i made early:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=44723
but keyboard layout is changed to be the same as keyboard layout of Phone Pad.
Tested on HTC Blue Angel with clean WM5 ROM Tuma v1.3, but it must work on any device with version of Smart Dialing specified above (HTC Wizard for ex.).
NOTE that for displaying english letters below buttons i changed the standard background of Phone application and assigned it as new skin. Therefore, if you already use some skin, then its background will be changed to my. If you do not want this - open .cab file and delete all registry changes in it (and, also you may delete all picture files in it).
Updated: all dll's and cab's is signed by dummy signature. Redownload archives if cabs cannot be installed early. You will see warning about untrusted something - just ignore this and continue...

Absolutly great idea!!! Couple of questions though, I installed both. T9 works but only in English, there is no Russian in the options. Smart dialing works only in English too, no Russian labels. I have an I-mate with english rom. Am I doing something wrong? Do I need Russian rom for this? For smart dialing, my version is 2.2 (build 22554).
2 dima237
what i-mate you have? pda2k with wm5, k-jam or other?
As i mentioned above i tested only on versions of Phone Pad Input and Smart Dialing that i have. Your versions is diffenrent, but you may try - if not work - just uninstall all. Redownload archives, please, may be you do not see any differences because early dll's and cab's was not signed.
Russian rom is not needed...
Hi Valera,
Thanks for your reply. I installed and unstalled both versions (the one that was posted before and the one in this thread). I see no change whatsoever. I have a K-jam. Maybe I can post my dll's here, as I'm a complete newb in this. Spasibo.
early in this thread i posted not signed cab's, but when i post my previous message i reupload new, signed cab's - if you use it and its not work, then ok.
Yes, give me your \Windows\smartdialing.dll, i try to look at it ...
and about Phone Pad Input ... what version is installed on your k-jam?
You were right about the signed files. I installed them again (the new ones) and now the phone pad t9 in russian with russian keys works great. BUT smart dialing stopped working. It won't let me into the options and it does not show up when i type the numbers. And the phone keypad itself looks like this:
Ok, phode pad works - this is good ..
About smatrdiall - you have other version, therefore it not work. Give me your \Windows\smartdialing.dll i try to look at it... :?
Here you go. Thank you

Here is your dll patched for yours languages... But this is only dll's - i think your know how to copy it to your devices ... After you copy this dll to your devices you can press dialpad buttons and you can search contacts in your languages, but this dlls is not replace english letters on diapad buttons. Letters is replaced by editing tapres.dll and saving it with name tapres.dll.0409.mui - for my device its work, but for wizard seems not ... may be you have other tapres.dll, but it not easy to copy it from your devices ... Who not not want to playing with copying of dlls , and want your letters on dialpad buttons may wait when we resolve problems with changing letters on dialpad on wizard (i do not have wizard, therefore may be some one can help ? )...
I tried to install too but it didn't work. I've K-JAM with ROM 2.17 WWE, that is my dll.
SmartDialing is 2.2 build 22424, T9 is 1.0 build 22364

Pocket RAR 3.50 beta 5 CAB
Thanks a lot. I cannot install 22554 because it's locked by another process. What is the right way to replace that dll?
Valera, you are the man. It works as you described. It looks up in both Russian and English, but key are only in English. And yes I tried several methods to copy the dll you are talking about, but it's in ROM and none of my file explorers seem to copy it. Any ideas on what exactly can be done about it? Because once this is done and I replace the physical keypad with a russian one, it would be the perfect compromise between not having a fully localized russian device (I dont like menus and interface in Russia) and being able to do all the daily task working with Russian!! "The ultimate Wizzard for a Russian ex-pat " so to speak
2 vishny
ok, leave this dll and use .cab ... Search .cab in first message of this topic for Smart Dialing v2.2 (build 22554) and try to install to your device - if it will not work i try to patch your dll...
2 dima237
install .cab from first post of this topic for your version of smard diailing. After this, russian letters must be below buttons ... i think it is a most universal solution
Hey Valera, did I tell you that you are DA MAN!!! Works perfectly. Thanks alot for your time.
One thing left - buy a russian keyboard for 500 rubbles and install it. After that it's complete!!!
ok, good luck with installing new keyboard
The new ROMs of both Tom and Meschle contain the new Touch Keyboard / Keypad with xT9 predictive input. It's a good input panel which can be operated by fingers. But only for those writing in English or a few other languages (German, French, etc.) Those belonging to other, smaller nations (like me: Hungarian) usually also have WWE rom, but in case of xT9 we just envy the users of the most common languages...
I've made an extensive search and found a very similar system, also made by 'Tegic' for HTC Vox smartphone. It's downloadable from the Modaco forum and I did it. Looking inside the cab file I saw that the system it creates, including the reg settings, is like the one we already have in the new ROMs. It's very similar but certainly cannot be identical, because smartphones don't have virtual keyboard.
So, my idea would be to use the proper files and the required additional reg settings from the Vox cab and create cabs for each language it has. The Vox cab supports:
Turkish
Spanish
Slovak
Romanian
Portuguese
Polish
Italian
Hungarian
Greek
German
French
English
Dutch
Czech
All together 14 languages and each is supported by predictive dictionary too!
I think it's worth to try to make use of it! But I'm not a developer... So I make an appeal to our admired forum-mates, mainly Tom and Meschle, who successfuly integrated the Touch keyboard into their roms, to make an effort and create CABs for the additional languages if possible. You would make a lot of people happy - first of all: me )
I tried but cannot upload the Vox cab file from my computer in my work, sorry. The link:

As I understood those CABs are for smartphone too.
So, I'm afraid it's not automatically applicable for our Artemises - Cobra 2's failure shows it.
T9 is not the same as xT9. Languages in the link above can be a good base to create xT9 bases.

That's what I also said. I have and day by day use the HTC's 2 years old PhonePad app with T9HungarianLdb.dll, that is better than have nothing, but xT9 is more advanced since it makes possible the predictive input.
So, my appeal is still valid.
Cheers,

Yes, the problem is that the Xt9 system of Vox and Excalibur stores the different dictionaries in .dll files, while the PPC WM6 Xt9 uses .ldb files.
I've tried to hack the system, extracting the Hungarian dll from the Vox cab, copying it to Windows, simply renaming it to ldb and adding Hungarian values to the registry but without any success. :-(
Someone with more knowlegde and experience is needed, since I still believe that it's somehow possible!

hmm that may make it difficult or impossible - shame
I have a good news and a bad one.
The good news is that someone extracted the Touch keyboard's Xt9 files for 14 languages from a new rom!
Download link:
http://rapidshare.com/files/68813010/DualOEMKeyBoard.rar.html
So, sooner or later we will have it in cab file, I'm sure. (The best would be to create different CABs: English + one more language.)
The bad news is that some smaller European languages are NOT SUPPORTED, e.g. Danish, and - unfortunately - Hungarian. :-((
I tried to send an e-mail to Tegic's website but it leads to http://www.nuance.com/t9/xt9/
and it's practically impossible to reach the developer by e-mail... (you can check it if you want)
So my last hope it that the Smartphone system can somehow be 'ported' to our Artemises with the help of a real developer, member of our community.
would love a cab file

But as far as i understand these are oem files, therefore they can be used in creating a rom?!
Who could help us out and make a cab for standalone instalation?
thanks in advance,

Can, is simple enough copy all files from archive in a folder windows? meschle, prompt, please - all to you will be grateful!!!) whether it is possible to add or expand languages of the keyboard??!!! In advance many thanks!

Thx

Pressing Alt, Space will allow you to select The "Abc" entry over XT9 as your default entry mode. The JogBar Disabler (I forget its name offhand) also changes this in the registry.
THANKS great

27/04/09 - A new "Hebrew support only" file:
This file is for Hebrew support only - SMS, Emails, Websites etc etc...
It works for me on every WM 6.1 / 6.5 ROM I ever flashed.
Please read this:
1) If the Hebrew on your device works good for you, don't upgrade.
2) You must mark Hebrew in the "regional settings" of your device/OS.
3) There is absolutely no Hebrew translations in this file - except dates in calendar (אפריל instead April for example).
4) This file doesn't fix the Opera mirrored Hebrew,
for the fix - go to post 17.
5) this files doesn't works with IE6 yet (so you can't access Hebrew sites with Internet Explorer, use Opera for now...).

1) Mirrored Hebrew in opera browser:
Fixed - see post 17.
2) Question marks instead Hebrew fonts in the Manila new Contact SMS tab:
Problem solved in the latest Topaz manila from the shiped ROM, there is no solution for old Topaz manila versions.
3) Internet Explorer 6 doesn't work with Hebrew website - we still work on it...
4) Which keyboard should I use?
For a free Hebrew keyboard, I recommended you the great FingerKeyboard2.1:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=501122
PLEASE READ THE THREAD BEFORE ASKING A NEW QUESTIONS!
PLEASE READ THE INSTALL INSTRUCTION CAREFULLY!
Enjoy
How to install:
1) Install the Heb support only.cab
2) Install the Heb MUI - OS and Manila.cab
Very important: don't install the second file before you installing the Heb support only.cab !!!
finally you posted it
but you forgot to warn everyone:
Guys, if you already have Hebrew support on your device you probably will need to do a HR before you install this support.
if you only using the free Hebrew support (polaris proect) on your phone - install only the second file and it should work (but you will probably see some arabic numbers on your screen from time to time )
If I just want the ability to see and enter Hebrew text, but no Hebrew interface, could I use this?

Yes, you need to install only the first cab ("Heb support only.cab").
But with the new ROMs you can't use Hebrew on the HTC "official" keyboard, so you need to Install FingerKeyboard2:

it works great with Hebrew.
thanx!!!!!!!!!!!!
thank you very much.

Because a lot of people asked me to, I decide to upload a cab with only the new Manila translation, in case you prefer to use your phone with the English MUI but still want the TF3D in Hebrew
does this version allow u to write sms with right alignment?
so that the hebrew comes out ok, and you can select the text nicely?
It would be nice, if in sms screen we can select the GO (global Oriention) for henrew or english

calender days

Hi Guys.......I'm a newbee
First of all thanks for all your work.
I just received my new Blackstone (T8282) and i have a few questions:
1. What is Manila? & What is Manila V3
2. I'm only interested in Hebrew Support so i understand that i only need to install "Heb support only.cab " , but will it work on any ROM (i still have original HTC) or only the ROM with Manila V3 on it? (are the Hebrew cabs dependant on which Manila version i have or which ROM version i have installed)??
Would appreciate anyones help,.......i'm just starting to load programs (-can someone also direct me to the link for IGO8 installation for Blackstone)
Thank you for your great work!
Just wanted to confirm it works fantastic (I use the English UI with Hebrew support). The only issue is the Opera which displays Hebrew in a wrong direction. Could you please tell me if there is an Opera build that displays RTL languages correctly? Thank you again.

2) The "Heb support only.cab" is for Hebrew support only... and it's not connected to the Manila version at all. and it works on any Blackstone ROM I ever had (and I had a lot! )

Thankyou avimak & off-course the "Dude", the Hebrew Support cab seems to be working well, both in Word Documents & in Opera (Opera is in the ROM??). I i see that others have complained that the Opera Hebrew is in the wrong direction, maybe its because they also installed the MUI cab??, i also had this issue on my Trinity, solved it the same way you stated.
The HTTP sites do seem to take a long time to load, can you suggest anything here?
Can you tell me where in the PPC directory i can load/copy known links for Opera & IE?
Again thanks for all the help & efforts.
I've been playing around with my new HTC S620 for the past few days. Since I ordered it from Hong Kong I didn't have Hebrew on the device. Finally, after some work I managed to make the device read and write Hebrew correctly
The attached .cab file which I made works with the WM 6.5 * 3VOLUTION SERIES * ROM. The only thing you should be aware of is that in order to write in Hebrew you have to choose "Greek" from the language menu. It's not really Greek, it'll write in Hebrew. I made the keyboard layout file like a standard PC Hebrew keyboard with one difference: the letter "ף" is on the "W" key. You can change the layout by editing eT9.Excalibur.0408.kmap.txt in the Windows directory (notice! the 0408 file, not the 0409).
Please be aware! Anything that happens to your device is at your own risk. I take no responsibility!
Setup:
1 ) Install the attached .cab file.
2) Go to the device Settings and in Regional Settings change the Locale to Hebrew.
You're all set! Enjoy!

Update:
This is an updated .CAB. Added support for the latest 3VO ROM, Version 3.

ive installed the cab. and now i can read heb text but at the time bar it shows the only 2 digits.
any suggestion?
thx
ok changed to 12h and works fine
thank you I've been searching for this!
Ummm, I can't find Hebrew in my regional settings & I my font's been enlarged after I've installed the cab, how do I sort this? I'm using Kavana's 6.1
so in which rom we can use it
Works with kavana's 6.1, made the font anoyyingly large & I still haven't managed to write in Hebrew
work great for read
it work for just fine for reading, but i was unable to write
what doyou mean by language menu ?
i have only english at the regional settings language menu menu...
Writing in Hebrew
Shalom y'all:
To open the keyboard language menu you have to pess Alt+Space (or FN+Space) in a writing space. There you go to Language and choose "Greek". You will be able to type in Hebrew.
As for the Kavana 6.1 ROM I don't know. I only tested this .cab on my WM 6.5 * 3VOLUTION SERIES * ROM. I edited the .cab file to work with that ROM with the way the ROM's registry is built.
As for the 24h clock not showing both numbers it's because of the font.
I have the same problem but it doesn't bother me at the moment. In order to fix it you have to play with the theme file's config file which is a .cpr type file in your windows directory. Mine is "Titanium_320x240.cpr" and there are some setting in the file for the clock that you can edit and maybe fix the problem. I will post a solution once I figure it out.
The reason the system's font looks big is because I had to change the font to Tahoma so you'll be able to read and write in Hebrew. In order to change the size of the font for the Start Menu, the pop-up Menus, the Programs window and so you have to change the following registry keys:
HKLM\System\GDI\SYSFNT (System Font)
HKLM\System\GWE\Menu\BarFnt (Start Menu Bar Font)
HKLM\System\GWE\Menu\PopFnt (Pop-Up Menus Font)
HKLM\System\GWE\OOMFnt (Out-Of-Memory Font)
For each of these you will find the same keys. The only two you have to change in order to change the font size are "Ht" and "Wt" keys. "Ht" will change the size of the font and "Wt" will change the boldness of it.
You will notice that in most of them the "Ht" will be 4294967280. What you have to change is only the last number of the value. 0 being the largest and 9 being the smallest in the range of these two numbers. So for the smallest font size for example you change the value to 4294967289.
As for the "Wt" value you will notice most of them are "400". 400 is the standard font weight. If you change it to 700 it'll be bold. With this one you'll just have to play to find the boldness that suits you. You can change it to 400, 500, 600, 700.
If anyone wants a different Hebrew font than Tahoma for the system, let me know!
Thanks for posting feedback! If you have further questions, feel free to ask!
24h Clock Fix
I managed to fix the clock problem. You have to edit the theme's .cpr file.
Open "Titanium_320x240.cpr" (Windows folder) in Notepad. Search for Layer ID="ClockExpanded". Look down a little and look for "<!-- Time -->". in the line below it you have to find where it says FontSize=xx (mine was set to 27).
I changed it to FontSize=24. The clock shows all numbers now!
Good work !

Thanks for letting me know, I actually still don't use the phone because I just got it so I didn't get the chance to try the contact list. Seems like there isn't an option to change the typing language when searching for contacts. I will look into it and see if it's possible to do it somehow. Maybe using an alternative software that supports that feature is a possible solution.

I don't have this problem. When you press the Alt+Space (Fn+Space) to open the language menu make sure you also click the XT9 button. That turns on the auto-complete words mode. It's off in the ABC mode.

( file is read only )
thanks again my phone is amazing now
hagay
How do I uninstall this (doesnt work from settings)?
I accidentally installed this onto my HTC Ozone, and now my keyboard doesnt work when I try to text!
Great News!
I updated the .CAB file to work with the latest 3VO ROM, Version 3! (Go back to the first post to download the updated file)
Better install the .CAB after a clean install of the new 3VO ROM. Backup the pim.vol file located in the root directory before flashing the new ROM to backup your contacts and schedule.
Don't forget to change the Locale to Hebrew after install.
For those of you interested in a way to search contacts in Hebrew I use an alternative contact list software that supports language switching:
iContact Burt Edition 6.4.5.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=402724
works great!
I'm using it on 6.5 3d, and it works great!
I also installed 96dpi, and together the "big font problem" is solved.
Till now, they seem to work well together!
I have one question: the mac has what is called a qwerty hebrew keyboard, where the keys correspond approximately to the sound or the shape of the letter.

Is it possible to change the keyboard to this layout? What file do I need to edit? It makes entering the letters much easier, since I don't remember the layout, and my phone has no hebrew letters on it...
Thanks!
