pocket fallout is only qvga!
sadly, there are only a few games that work at full wvga resolution....I've seen one RPG which is called onris(just forgot the name), it seems quite a nice game, but the resolution is only for vga i guess, and most rpg games running at Java platform are also unsuitable for touch hd...is there any tool that can resize java game's resolution?
I've also installed morphgear which is an emulator for NES, gb, gba..etc., but the fps of gba's rpg games that running at morphgear is quite low, especially, when you turn the sound on, you will find the quality is extremely poor..

Thanks for telling me that, I've already got it, and it works for me but as this tool resize the resolution, half of my screen is blank while gaming, that's looks a little bit wierd to me
lynne can you give me a link to this RPG game (onris or something you was saying as you forgot the name lol)..
Also this morphgear Emulator ... does this work with the g-sensor then? or you need the D-Pad program thing

sure, the rpg that I mentioned is: Orions: Legend of Wizards v1.20
you can have it from here: http://pocketmoregames.com/orions.htm
but this is not freeware so u gotta either try it or buy it for full version gaming play
btw, before u try this game, u'd better have wvga fix pre-installed, cos u need change your resolution to vga through it, otherwise u will encounter display problem
on the other hand, regarding to the emulator - Morphgear
it's has modules below:
1, SNES9x MorphModule
Emulates the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES).
2, HuGo MorphModule
Emulates the TurboGrafx-16 / PC-Engine.
3, Generator MorphModule
Emulates the SEGA Genesis.
4, Marat Fayzullin MorphModule Package:
Includes MasterGear, VGB, VGBA, iNES (SEGA MasterSystem, GameBoy Color, GameBoy Advance, NES).
you can find it here:
http://www.spicypixel.com/web/page/morphgear/Download.aspx
installation order:
1, morphgear
2, rest of its modules
and also, you need pay for it in order to unlock those modules after the application is installed. (you don't have to install third party application to run game at morphgear)
and this tool allows you to change screen size of your game and many other useful options, but as i said, it's kinda low fps especially when you turned sounds on (gba rpg game - final fantasy 6 tested)
if you ask me how to get most from it, there are many 'suggestions' around the net, that's the only thing that i can say haha

hey, maybe u can try wvga fix, and set the resolution to vga and see if there is any difference?
yeah i tried it and actually works when vga is set, however, you need the stylus to play and besides the very poor english text there are some textured texts in russian no go for me at the moment.
it WORKS anyway.
actually, there are bunches of good RPG games out there if Morphgear is working fine for me, but since the low fps that I've encounterred, I finally gave it up...but I'm just wondering if there is anyone else got the same problem?

Im seeing Quake III arena every where-- on DELL Axims, IPHONE, IPOD, and now even NOKIA!!!!!
In my opinion If NOKIA N95 can run quake 3 arena then our devices can run QUAKE 3 arena even better!!!
BASICALLY WE NEED TO GET QUAKE RUNNING ON HTC TOUCH HD!!!!
WE NEED DEVELOPERS, PROGRAMMERS, EVERYONE WHO UNDERSTANDS SOMETHING FROM PPC AND PROGRAMMING!!!

UPDATES
New zip file!!! -- just unzip it to your storage card and read the readme from point 4
LINK: http://rapidshare.com/files/231085739/Q3A.rar.html Link works!!! thanks to edge540T
(the zip has the same files as described in the readme below- and the controls are set to- volume buttons: run forward, shoot--call pickup: jump -- back: previous weapon)
with the zip file you can play quake 3 arena in fullscreen (6-8 fps, some people report 13 fpswith dutty's 3.3--heavilly depends on graphic drivers-- remember to enable gfxboost- then its smooth as it would bee with 20 fps)!!!
To get higher fps use WVGAFIX and set your screen resolution to 640x480. (but its completely playable with 800x480 resolution)
README <-- folow this or read the one included in zip file (this one is easier)
1) extract the zip to your storage card
2) download http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?dehydeoshab --AND-- http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?egy8ht7p2ov and extract to your PC
3) copy the file pak0.pk3 from baseq3 folder on your PC, to baseq3 folder on your PPC's storage card
4) Launch the game (if you get an out of memory error try again, if not working then disable TF3D and try again)
4.1) go to game controls and set one of the volume keys to move forward, the other to shoot
4.2)to get 2 or more fps more in WVGAFIX set resolution to 640x480
4.3) to quit the game- hold "call pickup" button(while playing) and you will se the ingame menu, or in main menu press exit(if not working then soft reset- to quit the game)
4.4) you can map volume up and down, pickup, back, hang buttons. DONT USE HOME BUTTON - starts to conflict with today screen
4.5)when playing - to get to main menu - hold "call pickup" button (may not work- I dont know why, when new rom comes out ill start testing)
4.6) dont know if this helps but I got gfxboost 1.1 enabled and the game is very playable (only a little lag) gfxboost here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=509704
4.6) if your game hangs a lot then disable Touchflo3D in setings/today/items
4.7) if you cant run the game because of some certificate message download libgles_cl.dll file (it can be found in #31 post of this thread in GPUdrivers.zip or go to the graphic development thread mentioned in 1st post and download and install the latest drivers!!!
4.8) sometimes the buttons dont work as mentioned in this readme, its because of the rom- on some roms they work, but on some they dont, Ill do some experiments and see if I can get them to work!!
5)Have Fun & post your fps (when you start the game in first (tutorial) level, without moving)
Readme is being updated without any notification at random times so check it out and see if theres a solution to something
the zip file--> http://rapidshare.com/files/230341334/q3ce-1.1b-release-aximx50v-ppc2003.zip.html (thanks to "edge540T" for a link which wont expire)
I didnt made any of the files I just tested a freakin lot of versions and finally found a working one!!!
Oh and btw, this version should work with all other htc phones too, youll get increased fps with or without gfxboost(more than 5 fps on Touch Diamond
Guess I dont have any help with this....
up this thread!
Im BUMPing this the last time
would be very cool to have this working, but it seems there is nobody to help
i had this on my n82 now i have upgraded to touch hd and cant get it :O

Erm, haven't tried running the game yet, but i'm presuming that the slow framerate is due to the touch trying to laod it at 800x480 resolution. Have you tried using WVGAfix to set the screen resolution to a lower one, and seeing if the framerate increases?

No I havent but I think the framerate in vga would be the same as in diamond (5-7fps)
my pc grabbed a virus a month ago and I lost all my files - including quke 3 arena -- but if someone else will start working on this then Ill start over with the files and see what I can think of!!!
resurecting this!!!! Im getting back on this with some new video drivers!!
Just though of thing:
the quake 3 uses ligles_cm.dll as a graphic driver for HD, If we take a libgles_cm.dll file from something else and merge it together with quake's libgles_cm file, into one Libgles_cm file then possibly quake could run better!!!
take the other libgles_cm from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3725656&postcount=906
Could someone please merge those 2 files-- i really dont have all the necessary programs and stuff

But the N95 has a pretty good 3D accelerator, a low resolution display and an FPU. What makes you think a Touch HD should be able to to do any better? Just the higher clock speed?
Rest assured, it's still not very enjoyable with the controls, although it's a nice demo
The N95 is a great little device (I have an N95 and a Touch HD, as well as a variety of other WinMo phones). I'd love to see a camera even approaching it on an HTC device.

I wonder if the HTC touch HD has the power to handle games like Electopia.
That would be great, as most current games are low in resolution especially compared to the Iphone.
nope, the graphic cards on our hd arent very good. it doesnt even support opengl es 1.1 and there is no hardware acceleration either (because of missing drivers) so the answer is no.

Thank you for your reply. Do you mean the HD is only leaking the software to run the graphic acceleration? Perhaps I wrong, but I thought the HD does have 2D/3D hardware acceleration, but HTC didn't included the drivers to run it. Also some apps/games (i.e. Xtrakt) do used the acceleration of the graphic card.
So I wonder if we are able to find the correct driver. Could the HD be able to handle high resolution games like these? I love my HD, but I quite disappointed in resolution of the available WVGA games, especially when comparing to the Iphone.
Sorry if asking something stupid, I still a newbie in the mobile world
Looking at the complexity of the scene and the objects I'd say that this is possible. There has been some improvement with 3d drivers. Check this thread for an installer (at your own risk ). You can try the test app found in my sig to see some 3d stuff!
i think htc hd will run it easily as its graphics is like the graphics in the xtract game (not so petter) and our hd has hardware acceleration for graphics acceleration
Xtract works like charm and spireman game is also cool . A lot of games run very smooth.
Does both devices runs on the same graphic hardware? I wonder if the 1Ghz on the Toshiba TG01 will make any difference. But considering the Iphone running on almost the same speed, these games on the HD should be able to run smoothly.
There is something I still don't understand. Why does the Iphone (and even the Nokia N95) is able to run games (such as Quake III) which are hardly playable on the HD. I thought the hardware of the HD is superior to the Nokia N95. Is this because of the heavy memory load of windows mobile?

its because qualcomm didnt provide our HTCs with all the needed drivers!! -- If we would have all the correct drivers on our HD then we would be able to play the same games as Iphone!!! blame HTC for their #@!#ing policy about drivers!!! HD would be a real Iphone killer with all the correct drivers!!
This game is from qualcomm or what ? I can't find info about it
That's not the main reason for us, i wouldnt say. The iphone is running a 320x480. Were using 480x800. We have as many pixels to render on the screens shortest side as the iphone has to render on it longest side! Great for web browsing, not so great when you want smooth, 3d apps.

my PC monitor has 1680x1080 (or something like that) and I sometimes play games at lower resolution like 800x600 ---- so why wouldnt we be able to play the game at two times lower resolution than our Touch HD screen has , just loosing a bit sharpnes!!!
I dont think the iPhone games look any better than the best looking games that run full screen on the HD, good drivers or not. There just seems to be a lack of people actually developing them. Sure the iPhone has the power fully utilised but it doesn't really translate into much if you ask me.
i think if you want a good gaming device, u should wait for the htc devices in the future which will have nvida tegra apx graphic cards. With correct drivers, that card can play quake 3 at 35 fps!!! so ima cross my fingers and wait

I think that we cant run it on Blackstone and TP2 also, because its meant for snapdragon cpu, BUT I installed the game and extracted QualComm.ini file(from program files/qualcomm folder on PPC) to the desktop of my PC and opened with wordpad - there are some settings for graphic performance, maybe someone who is working on Blackstone Graphic drivers, may take a look and edit the file a bit so the game can run on Blackstone?!

I think (it's only an assumption) that you can do that because your computer's screen supports many different resolutions, on the contrary, the HD's screen may only support 800*480, so if we want to play on a qmaller resolution, we won't be using the whole screen.

damn!!! I didnt knew the screens needed to support multiple resolutions, I always thought that the GPU or something else is responsible for that!!

Xtrakt!
HG proton and Touch the music works on my tp2
i have:
collapse chaos
dragonball (similar to zuma)
need for speed undercover
Xtrakt
fruity
touchbreak
scrobble
tripyzee
uno
towers of glennoi
i've just tried:

Go to Windows Marketplace n get Zenonia
I bought this for £6 when I would usually rather leech n test first.
The reviews and screenies for this adventure persuaded me otherwise.
I must say Zenonia is the BEST game I have ever played as a Native Windows mobile App.
If you ever got on with Zelda on SNES - this is the way forward. I have not had emotional attachment like this to a top down RPG bash the baddies game since......1992!
I would suggest everyone buys it - then hopefully the dev - Gamevil - will release more magic.

This might be a stupid question, but how did you get an iphone app installed on a winmo phone? I would definitely pay for it if I could figure out how to get it.

I have a Touch Diamond 2 so touch only. Can you play this game touch only?
Is there any version of Tetris or Kevtris that works with the tp2? If so is there a virtual d-pad that you have to install also?
Duke Nukem 3D using the spvDuke3d port works quite well. It supports WVGA, but not by default, you have to edit the CFG file.
I use the following settings:
[Screen Setup]
ScreenMode = 1
ScreenWidth = 400
ScreenHeight = 240
Shadows = 0
Password = ""
Detail = 1
Tilt = 0
Messages = 1
Out = 0
ScreenSize = 15
ScreenGamma = 16
(I'm not sure why the width and height are set to half, but that's what gets it to work. Setting it to 800x480 ends up with it going off screen and only a quarter of the image showing up. Perhaps changing screen size would change that?)
Info here on how to set it up for full audio:

thanks drdrbuzz. i'll try it.

warcraft 2
jackpot casino
dupewars
bejewled 2
I have the following games and they work fine:
Prince of Persia
Spiderman Toxic City
Assassins Creed

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone had managed to get any of the "classic" 3d FPS games to work on the Rhodium/Touch Pro 2. What I'm talking about is stuff like Wallenstein 3D, Quake, Doom, Duke Nukem 3d etc. These have all been ported to windows mobile, but not all seem to work on the Touch Pro2
(By the way, I own the originals of all these games)
I've had limited success. Here are some that I've tried:
Duke Nukem 3d: After some tweaking I got the graphics and sound to work great - full screen, landscape. However, despite a lot of attempts and different configurations I still can't get the keyboard mapping to work properly. Anyone have better luck? If so, I'd love to see your configuration file.
It can be downloaded here:hxxp://forum.ppcgeeks. c0m/showthread.php?t=28704
Wolfenstein 3d: There are at least two versions of this game for windows mobile
hxxp://pocketinsanity. 0rg/web/pocketinsanity/Projects/Wolf3D_for_PocketPC/
hxxp://wolf.pocketmatrix. c0m/
I've tried both and both work to one degree or another, but don't function correctly in landscape mode and have problems with button mapping. They are not full WVGA complaint and thus have the annoying habit of taking up only part of the screen and being improperly aligned.
Any tweaks that could overcome this? It would be very appreciated.
Quake I: hxxp://quake.pocketmatrix. c0m/ Same deal - screen and button mapping problems
Doom: Haven't really tried yet, but I know there are ports out there
Hexen: Installed one of the ports a while ago and had the same problems as quake. Doesn't function correctly for landscape/wvga
Id like to know this as well. Im struggling with the keyboard mapping for duke3d.
How did you get duke 3d to run fullscreen in landscape?
Iva managed to run it fullscreen in portrait(looks awful)
And i managed to run it in landscape when using wvga fix 640*480
It's been a very long time since I've done any work on Quake 1, 2 or Wolf2D. I do have a TP2 now, so maybe I'll dust off the sources and tweak them a bit to address compatibility issues.
Dan East
That would be great!
I figured out how to bind qwerty keys on my tp2.
If you go into the .cfg file for duke and check wich landscape mode your running.
Pro "2" is best on the tp2. Then scroll down in file and check keybindings
for landscape 2, there you can assaign keys. Worked for me. Just that
I dont know what all my keys are called though.
And for people who don't have a tp2 that might not be much help.
To run the game in hvga or stretched landscape would be a dream.

That would be great!
I figured out how to bind qwerty keys on my tp2.
If you go into the .cfg file for duke and check wich landscape mode your running.
Pro "2" is best on the tp2. Then scroll down in file and check keybindings

If that dont work try turning off et9
Go to your reg and make this edit:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Layouts\e0010409]
"Layout Text"="COMP IME"
"Ime File"="compime.dll"
Make sure u write down how it looks before cuz i dont know
I've updated the video mode / blitting code of Pocket Quake, so it now supports the aspect ratio of the TP2, etc. I tried rendering WVGA natively at 800x480, but the device just doesn't have enough horsepower to push that many pixels. FPS was single digit (although it sure looked nice). So Quake is rendering at 400x240, and I'm doubling pixels while blitting to the display buffer. That's yielding 11.3 FPS doing a timedemo of demo1.
I've got to address some input issues to allow mapping to all hardware keys, and I'm going to add a variety of video modes to dynamically support pretty much any display resolution, so I'll have a universal binary for all the various WM devices out there.
I might have something available in the next couple days. I'll post here when I put it online.
I first released PocketQuake over 9 years ago, so it's been quite a while since I've worked with this code. Brings back some memories...
I'll update PocketQuake2 next.

Good adivice, forgot to mention that my key bindings didnt work untill
I disabled t9.
The game runs ok for me now. Fullscreen would be great though.
But the thing that bothers me most right now is that i can't quit the game
properly. When i ran it on my Touch Cruise nativley at 320*240 There was a X icon
in the corner that you could press with stylus and it would open a special menu where you could exit the game. Now with a wvga screen that icon is too small to
even be pressed with a stylus. This means I cant exit the game, the only thing i can do is reboot the phone.
In the games .cfg file there is a key binding named:
Alt_EscapeKey =
Now I would guess this works as a escape key to go into menus and exit the game.
It is not placed among the ordinary keybindings.
Ive assigned keys to it that I know works if i would assaign to any of the normal
key bindings but it doesnt work.
Any ideas?

Not saying your work isn't appreciated but how about Duke instead?
You mentioned that the hardware didn't have enough horsepower to run
the game engine smoothly in wvga. What do you think about duke
wich uses a more basic engine, its not even real 3d if i understand correctly.
Could it run wvga natively smoothly (ca 30fps)?
And one more thing about duke
Has anyone figured out why some people seem to be able to play it in portrait fullscreen(stretched) on wvga phones but NOT in landscape?
I would be completeley satisfied to play it stretched in stead of natively.
One thing i tried was go in and alter the .cfg file
where it says
[Screen Setup]
ScreenMode = 0
ScreenWidth =
ScreenHeight =
I entered 800 and 480 values on width and height and booted the game in
landscape with keyboard out. It runs but looks distorted and interlaced.
The reason I'm working with Quake 1, 2 and Wolfenstein 3D now is because I ported those games to the platform in the first place.
As far as Duke, it should run very well, just as Doom does (which is the closest "3D" engine to it). I don't know if the source code is available to the previous Pocket PC ports, but that would certainly be a starting point to tweak it to support newer hardware.
Subscribed. Would be great to play these games on my tilt2.
I'd love to see this too. Preferably something that allows you a load various WAD files.
you can play these games now, not just in fullscreen in landscape.
You can play them i vga resolution

How? People are experiencing problems. Could you post a link?
OK here is my issue, I have a Sprint Touch Pro 2 and I just upgraded to the new windows mobile 6.5 rom. I am trying to get Pocket GBA to run in Full screen or....even half scree....hell any size screen would work.
I have a feeling there is no fully complatible GBA emulator for windows mobile 6.5 out right now.
I downloaded the newest version off
http://www.sunbug.net/board_contents/view/250/PocketGBA-GameBoy-Advance-Emulator-for-PocketPC
the cab wont install and however the .zip file will work just fine.
Any ideas or are there any 3rd party patches or is there a better emulator for GBA for wm 6.5 anywhere?
I can see there is no answer, possibly because there is no fully working emulator for 6.5?

nope not really. i've done some browsing for answers and it seems all emulators have some sort of issues with our phones (TP2/Tilt 2) in particular. they will run some games...but framerate, screen size, sound..or something or the other will be missing.
i would love to get GBA working on my phone and of course a playstation emulator to have some of the Final Fantasy games

That would be amazing if they were playable on the phone. the controller would obviously have to me emulated though the keyboard. btw, asiancuta, do you have a ff9 game?

used to own it, but unfortunately not in many years now lol. but i'd hunt for one on ebay, if i know for sure we can have an emulator that works and FF can run on it at 50-60 fps. i've been an FF fan since the NES first one.
FPSece is a PSX emulator that works very well on our phone, it can run somegames a full speed without sound.
http://www.fpsece.net/downloads.htm
Makes me sad when I see a PSX emu running this fast and I cant even get a SNES/GB/GBA emulator running a full speed with sound. We need these emulators to be updated with some better faster code. I know it possible with the hardware in our phone just no one with the skill willing to take the time to do it. Not like I blame them I am sure they have better things to do then make emulators for us.
Awesome to see there there is still some old school FF fans. For the last few months, I've been building a Tetra Master game for WVGA. its at v0.60 "missing the AI still". If your skilled at the game, you could be a beta tester for me. if you know C#, then i would love some help on how to add mp3s into the program.
the game has everything the PS game has, plus more features that SHOULD be included "buying/ selling cards and a non-cryptic tutorial"
Just if people are searching, as far as you're looking to play GB or GBC, I think the registered version of SmartGear is great. Game running, screen orientation and key mapping are ideal.
