Hello guys just got new Dash HELPZ - HTC Excalibur

Well hey guys, im new to forums and just got the dash 3 days ago. I like it, but the lack of memory is not cool. 2GB maximum. When i first bought the phone, i put my old nokia 512mb MicroSd card in the phone to listen to songs and stuff, and put a movie. Then i needed more space so i went to buy a 8Gb for 24$, that didn't work, then i bought a 4GB that didn't work. Then i found out 2Gb is max. So i bought 2GB that also didn't work, this is pissing me off so much. I can only use my 512mb. And the 2GB is not enough either. Is thier any way to use 8GB? PLease HElp

Yeah, install one of the ROMs located in this forum. Thats the only reliable way to use higher capacity sd cards. There is a SDHC cab floating around that will allow you to use a 4gb card in the stock Dash ROM but its not very reliable, sometimes it reads the card sometimes it does not. Best advice is to flash that Dash and open up the world of WM 6.1

yup, tahts what i did and now im happy using my 4 gig

I went to the t-mobile sight, and added the new update or something for my dash, it went throught a blue, green, red screen. I think it was a new rom. It says windows standard 6. Is that the newest 1? Did t-mobile even cmoe out with 6.1?

Not Tmo USA, you updated to wm6, which you probably already had. You can get 6.1 here, I recommend Rickwatt's V24 with Opera.

Memory card capacity?

Hi just wanted to knw if anyone knew the max storage card u can take on the mda compact 3 coz im thinking of getting a 2gb card but not sure if it can take it.
i certainly hope it does, because i just ordered one this afternoon.
and im sure ppl in this forum are using one.
Been using a 2gb sandisk for three weeks now and it works - aside from the problems outlined in this thread (which seem to manifest on all different sizes of cards).

HTC S620 with Windows Mobile 6 supports SDHC

Leaving all other messages for what they are, I can hereby CONFIRM that the HTC S620 IS SDHC compatible.
I've tried several units, all loaded with the official Windows Mobile 6 ROM upgrade (Two Dutch and three WWE).
The Sandisk 4 and 6 GB cards are working, the memory is visible and the entire volume of the cards is available.
Since the S620's were upgraded with Windows Mobile 6 already, I am not sure if the same thing goes for S620's loaded with Windows Mobile 5.0.
Need to see if 8 GB is supported too, I didn't receive a sample of that card yet.
sweet, i'm gonna get a 4gb then
NICE! But can you post any pictures to confirm this? I don't want to go all out on couple of 4GB+, since they aren't cheap neither, and then realize you pulled a fast one on me.
Cool!! thanks for the info mate!

I'm sorry, but the S620 samples are back on their way already.
I'm now awaiting a Windows Mobile 5.0 model to see if that works as well.
Trust me, at least up to 6 GB is supported with the HTC Windows Mobile 6 Standard ROM.
Anyone else able to clarify that is does work with 6GB?
Is this just the HTC Mobile 6 ROM or do you think a T Mobile Mobile 6 ROM will work too? I was getting ready to pick up a couple 2 gig cards for my Dash but if I can go buy a single 4-6 gig card then that would be much more convenient.
6GB cards do not exist. A shame, nice story otherwise.
EDIT:
sorry, they do…
T-Mobiles WM6 ROM for the Dash doesn't support cards higher than 2GB. Someone tested over at HoFo.
yes they do make 6gig but they are sdhc compatible.. check out

"sorry didnt see that yes they do edit"..
So a Class 2 SDHC would work huh?
Again, it WORKS with the genuine HTC Windows Mobile 6 ROM for the HTC S620.
I don't know about the compatibility with other branded Excalibur's or ROM's.
thanks for the info.. but i was asking about the sd cards, i guess sdhc have different classes? do you remember which class you used? 2,4,6? thanks!
Well I was wandering down Tottenham Court road this morning and couldn't resist it ... so ended up buying a 4GB SDHC Card .... works perfectly in my S620 running Mobile 6
great ... but SDHC what means
what it means?

4 gig sdhc card
Anything above 2GB is SDHC.
sandisk 4gb card working in t-mobile dash after i updated to the rogers wm 6 rom, wasnt working with tmo wm 6 rom this is awesome
Has anyone grabbed pictures as proof yet? And for that matter has anyone managed to get the SDHC working on Tmobile WM6?
Com'n.....someone prove it with pictures!

Phone Lock Up Situation Solved

I've been using a 4gb Sd Card for awhile and notice it takes awhile to load my files from it on my phone. I've been Experiencing alot of lock ups to where I can't do anything but remove the battery and reboot the phone. Lock ups happend most when the phone wasn't busy. So Reading upon Tmobile Dash and memory cards I decided to change the card and switch out my 4gb with a 1gb and now my phone is flying. Definetely a huge change in speed entering menus and browsing. No More Lock Up's. So what's the deal with wanting to use a larger SD card without getting the lock up's and running smooth.

Are you running 6.1 or are you still on wm6?
I'm running on 6.1 which enables the access of reading up to 4gb cards without version 6.1 there is no 4gb access no matter what format the card is in.

1. Actually you can run a 4gb card in a stock t-mobile dash if you install the SDHC support .cab file
2. Your lock up problem, and speed problem sounds like a defective card. I run a 16gb card with little speed decrease compared to a 4 or 8 gb card. Generic cards have problems, I stick with sandisk and never have a trouble.. they are worth the couple extra bucks for stability reasons alone
That's Exactly the card im using is a SanDisk and its 4gb. I dont use any other brand but Sandisk. Only $40 at Radio Shack. I Decided to go back to Wm6 tmobile's Version seems more stable on my phone. Haven't had a lock up since I went back to Wm6. Thanks for the replies. I'm gonna look into the SDHC Support and see if the cab file does any wonders for this version of 6.0 instead of 6.1.

Ok let me get this correct your first post was a question? Your second post was a quote, your third post was ignoring any help given and reverting to a ROM that doesn't accept SDHC without the SDHC support .cab
No lockup no SDHC card could it be a coincidence??? So my finding are you have no findings and a WM6 phone

Inspire 4G Internal 4GB?!?!

Hey guys, I just got a new Inspire 4G AT&T Branded and Debranded it and flashed ARHD6.1.1 and everything is super smooth and good.. I got one question. what is the meaning of 4GB internal memory if u only get 1.1GB after flashing a software? I have googled a bit and couldnt find a good answer. even 4EXT recovery doesnt show 4GB in system.... is it a scam? plz i need help
4G total, but system uses most, so that's why only 1.1 available to use. I for one wish they would just state what is usable. I don't care about the amount I can't use.
the Internal 4gb that AT&T refers to is actually the 4gb class 4 micro sd that comes pre installed in the phone when you purchase it..... the phone itself is the same as your run of the mill Desire HD's (including the telus ones) but with a different audio codec, and the housing has an at&t symbol on the back rather than "HTC".
in actuality, its only 1.5gb of space on the phone which is all the system apps to be installed on, and other apps you install off the market. (That 1.1gb you see is the data partition on that 1.5gb of solid state space)
Thanks guys for the info, but it came with 8GB card and i believe it has a second microphone close to the Camera, which i didnt have on my DHD. Also some people says the other 3GBs are used by system for speed purpose like L2/L3 cache, but its just a theory and i m not good at these stuff, thx anyway

Preorder 32/64 GB

The Note II is certainly the (if not) best Android phone of 2012. I'm just wondering, does anyone know when the 32/64 GB versions of the Note II will be available. Currently there's only the 16GB version. Also, do you think the Note II will get a 2GHz stable overclock? I I'd like to think so. Thanks

Honestly why do you need that much space/speed ? Just stick a 32gb card in it. If you try to overclock it you'll just fry it and kill the battery and any warranty.

Because I choose to buy a 64GB version. I didn't ask which one I should get, I asked where I could find those versions. Anyway most high end Android phones can all be overclocked. Like One X or S III. People run them at 1.8GHz without issues.

Your storage space issue is for me the easiest to answer. I am an extensive user of audio books. The teaching company series, Will Durant's seminal 12 volume series, podcasts, science fiction audio... Asimov, Huxley, Clarke, current fiction, "Why the West Rules for Now" (i highly recommend by the way) is how i keep sane on morning and evening commutes. I have a 16gb g-note and a 64gb SD card and i use all of this storage. Samsung's release of a new 128gb SD card will be none to soon, and if it cannot be utilized on my current note, it will most likely spur me to buy the note 2 with 2 GB ram and 64 GB SD internal. I also can access and stream from my collection on my home server but my at&t "unlimited" isn't, so i use WiFi whenever possible. This means that i use the phones memory as a cache buffer to limit my telecoms' leverage. Concerning speed. I am currently testing an incredible voice control app called Utter. Extremely flexible, configurable and powerful. Coupled with Ivona voice the results are simply stunning. I am also running a custom JellyBean rom called slimbean that is half the size of ice cream, is overclocked at 1.8 ghz and is as smooth as a baby's butt. I've been overclocking and flashing roms since i joined xda, its why i joined xda. I understand your credulity, we do still call these devices phones after all. i am also aware that my setup and usage is not typical, yet it is just this flexibility of android and current Samsung products that make them so attractive people like us with such differing needs and views.
..........................................................................
To the Op, i am keeping my eye out for the larger 32/64 internal storage versions and will let you know if i stumble on a release date reference. Thanks for starting this thread

Every time someone responds to a person who asks about when a model with a larger storage will be out with the "you don't need that much" line, or something like that, they should get an infraction.

3 strike policy, and you're out of XDA, haha
First time i heard the "you don't need that much.... " line was when i opted for a 10MB hard drive for my then new spanking hot PC AT. It had a 16bit processor and 512kb of ram...my buddy had the
commodore 64 (64 KB of ram and a cassette based memory). Despite his lack of technical sense, we remain friends to this day. Unsurprisingly, he favors that other phone ecosystem....the glass jewelry ones with those little screens. He still freaks out when he sees my note. His first words? Yeah, you guessed it; " you don't need that much..." I notice his wife checking it out though... So maybe there is some justice in this life

You only get to see the true value of a decision if you get to live with it.
I had friends that laughed at me s3 about its size. Now one of thes ( a .... girl! ) got one for free
Her first reaction was "un#@#$ing believable... i was blind and now i saw!"
Same thing with 2nd battery. People give 500+$ for a phone and they don't get an extra battery and a charger.
If i borrow them mine for a few days they get to "see the light"
Same thing with sd cards. From 16 to 32 and from there to 64gb they were telling me what you will do with all that space for ?
Guess what? Its usually full.
So i ll be waiting for the 32gb at least , i dont believe we will see a 64gb version sadly
We might need to wait for a month or so to get it
64gb + 64gb
I have about 80GB of mp3 files which I want to carry around with me. I have several GB more of pictures I have a Galaxy S3 with 32GB internal and a 64GB card, and it's getting crowded. And I'll keep adding more files. Maybe one day I'll be comfortable with keeping this in "the cloud", or streaming it from HDs in my house, but right now I want it all on my phone.
Right now Samsung's web page only mentions a 16GB version for US carriers. I definitely won't buy that.
I agree with the philosophy of not questioning why someone wants the storage they want.
It is already available for pre-order on some sites (handyshop.de) by an exorbitant price of 899 eur and a delivery date at the end of October...

I was wondering the same as well. I just ordered my Note 2, but am wondering about the storage. I have a 16GB Nexus 7 and have found that with no music/videos/picutres stored, I cannot download all of my apps without getting a low storage warning.
Anyone have issues with downloading around 200 apps on a 16GB Note 2? I know you can add an SD Card, but that doesnt help with app storage, correct? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
