HELP ME!! Stylus end is stuck!

:? Boy do I feel dumb.
I've been using a 3-1 stylus (from Proporta) on my M2K and today the plastic "tip" got stuck in the unit's slot! Peering down the slot using a desk-lamp I can see the tip and it's off-centre to the actual axis of the hole. It looks like the hole for the stylus is NOT a tube - but is instead merely an opening into the unit. (thinking about it - I'd noticed that the stylus tip was "awkward" to fit into the slot a couple of times - obviously it had been getting caught in the body-work).
Stupidly I've further compounded my troubles by attempting to fineagle (technical term.. ) the tip out by using a biro refill - and the tip of the biro refill got stuck in the stylus tip!!! AAARGH!
Looks like I'll need to dismantle the entire bloody unit to get this thing out - so... how do I do it, what do I need, and where can I obtain the tools??
DOH!!!!
Damm, your having one of those day's
Just as a side note.
Don’t buy or use 3 in 1 stylus, they will break the clamp in the device holding the stylus in place so the stylus gets so loose that it will slide out and in without any resistance
Check your warranty before taking your unit apart!
You'll need a T6x60 and maybe a T7x60 drive. Then search for a thread on this forum that will guide you through the dismantling process.
good luck!

somehow I doubt Orange will be terribly impressed with what's hapened!!!
Anyone know how much it would cost to have the unit dismantled by a repair workshop (and thus maintain the warranty)? And is there such a place in central London?
Why not try the finest tad (more technical phraseology) of super glue on the end of your 3 in 1, push in hole, wait 1 minute and pull out. It might just work and surely would have done without that biro bit. Got to be worth a try - but be frugal with the glue !
By the way, I've used a 3 in 1 form Proporta for 3 months now and the old stylus fits and is retained just the same as its always has done (just tried it).
Stylus.
Hmmm I dont remember where i bought mine, but this is the second time i need to get the 9090 to service.
There is no resistense at all, it just slide in and out by it self
They are going right to the trashbin now.
Do you have a link to where you got yours??
Bottom stylus is the original.
Much more soft in the area where the clamp goes in
Mine came from here;
http://www.proporta.com/F02/PPF02P05.php?t_id=933&t_mode=des
But having looked at your photograph, and had a good look at my stylii, the 'shoulder' is different on my original stylus and that from Proporta - just as your picky shows. Still haven't had a problem though - YET.
Don't like it that you have to take of the tip to use the pen as reset tool
The ones i got are working very good, but I just cant use them any more since they destroy the clamp.
Here's one more pic.
I don't. I just use the tip of the stylus for re-set.
If you pull out the stylus and look into the hole in the BA, does it look like white plastic clamps in your BA.
I can se 2 white plastic clamps in mine.
Yes - just the same !
Since we both have plastic clamps, my stylus clamp shoulders must be the reason for the defect in the BA.
Well then I can only say to anybody reading this thread, don't buy 3 in 1 stylus that look like the ones in the pictures :!: :!:
TIP: Use a software to reset the PPC. I use CLaunch on normal reset. During lockups, I have to use the stylus. But that's only 1out of 10 resets.

nomadman - sir, sorry this is out of the topic.... i just noticed your ROM version... where did you get the ROM update for our XDA IIs?
Thanks!
YAY! Fixed it last night.
1 T6 driver and 1 small flat bladed screwdriver were all the tools necessary.
Just removed the 2 silver screws, and 3 of the black ones (the "Void" sticker was untouched) and the rear cover was loose enough to allow the very flat blade of the screwdriver in just far enough to dislodge the "item" and it just dropped out.
reassembly was easy and the only shock I got was when I turned the unit back on the emergency battery was nearly dead!! I'd only had the main battery off the unit for 5 minutes!!!! Not terribly impressed by that I have to say.

Xda IIs Stylus holder is LOOSE after USE and ABUSE!

Hi guys, just wondering if any users out there are having the same problems as me. ive had my Blue Angel now for a good 6 months and im very happy with it appart from it doesnt ring which is very very annoying  anyone know a fix for this?
But main reason for this post is; has anyone got the same problem that the holder for the stylus has become used and now doesnt hold the stylus in place anymore? i remember there being a click when pushing the stylus in. but now it just falls out when i tip the PDA upside down.
Anyone whos opened up a BA can you give any details on how the holder works? can it be modded so that it grips the stylus again? im one for opening up electrinics and playing with them but since i use this for alot of my work i cant risk it.
many thanks for any replies.

I have the same issues. I tried to take mine apart but could not seem to separate the back side of the case. I removed 3 screws from behind the battery, and one from either side of the device. I too would like any input.
It totally blows... cos i always end up taking the phone out of my pocket and sometimes i dont hear the stylus drop. ive already lost two like this... it might end up being more expensive to just keep buying stylus than to open the BA and screw it up... All in all my ones been opened already
i dropped it on concrete and somehow the touchscreen stopped working although the screen was intact. O2 replaced it with a brand new one for diddly sqwat!! FANTASTIC!!!
i might just take it appart next weekend and have a little look inside see if there is a way to access this comparment and maybe doing a little DIY style modding!
if i come up with any conclusions ill post them with some pics of course!

a friend of mine took his apart and there does not appear to be a way to tighten the stylus. He said it was just a small plastic protusion that held it in place. Once it wears, you are out of luck. Have not seen this myself, but thats what he tells me..
Regards
chris
that's correct, it's just a plastic clip protruding to grab the gap on the stylus. if it's broken, you may just have to put a tape or sticker around the stylus to make it tighter.
there are 4 screws (one under the void sticker) where the battery goes. i just took mine apart to tighten slider. it's back to sliding smoothly & tight, however, there's still a noticeable gap (between the screen plate & keyboard plate).
anyone knows how to eliminate this gap (about 2mm)?
Try this solution: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=15120&highlight=loose+stylus
Cheers

I use 1 layer of tape around the stylus. spanning the groove in the stylus. This seems to make it a good bit tighter, but does not fix the problem entirely. Hope that helps..
Regards
Chris
i dont like the idea of having tape on my stylus... looks well tacky going into a metting with clients!!
so i took some black insulation tape and made small squares with an art blade and stuck them to the inner edge of the holder... now it sits there nice and tight like a school girl
S O R T E D!!!!
cheers for the help guys/gals.... if any....
An idiot friend of mine put a blade of grass in the stylus holder and now it wont come out. How do I fish it out? The good thing is, my stylus doesn't slide out so easily anymore.
I have also encountered this problem(i got my BA 6 months till now), however it is not that loose as what ur described. at lease it never drop out when i was outside. (after reading this i become worry about it)
I used to own a IPAQ 5550, when i got my BA, i thought the quality of the stylus is better than ipaq's plastic stylus(should have some heavy stuff insde..), i like the BA's metalic stylus.
Now i found that the IPAQ plastic stylus + the spring-like system inside the whole is much better...i want to have one BA + the metalic stylus + the spring-like system to hold the stylus....
if some day i am that unlucky to lost my BA's stylus i will try to use the 3-in-one PDA pen... once it lost one, i may lost another... i wont use normal stylus if it happened.

You have to use that "invisable" tape and only the keyboard and buttons if its a Director or above!

Loose stylus - Stylus falls out
This has worked for me. It's been 5 months, and it still works.
-Back up your data.
-Remove the cover you will find a small tab in the stylus channel intended to engage the notch cut into the stylus. Gently push the tab back into the stylus channel so that it will engage the stylus notch once again. Be careful if you push it too far it will break.
-Slide the stylus into the channel to verify that the tab again engages the stylus notch.
-Remove the stylus again.
-Apply a small dab silicone sealant (available at any hardware store) behind the stylus retention tab. This is the "V" shaped area between the tab and the case. Be sure to fill this entire area. When the silicone has cured it will become a spring with much better position memory then the original plastic tab had on its own.
-Reassemble your BA.
-Allow 24 hours for the silicone to cure before inserting the stylus into the channel.
I believe this is more then a repair, it is an upgrade.
Good Luck,

Yet again we're having to come up with dodgy (although well thought out) solutions to HTC's shoddy design flaws. My BA is about 3 - 4 months old and its up to this already. I keep finding my stylus on the floor.
Thing is, all these solutions void the warranty and I have to take mine back soon (See the Xray thread ) and am hoping for a replacement on insurance.
The P800 and XDA2 had this problem as well, but surprisingly I have NEVER lost a single stylus in my life! I always just happen to find them again. One time I found my P800 stylus 2 days later in the street between my college and my flat :S

Any Kentucky Fried Chícken fans out there?
After losing 5 styli - not only because they were loose in the holder (one went on the motorcycle after I missed the holder hole and then let it go) I came up with this junky solution.
The KFC corn cob holders are a good diameter (had to add a thin layer of tape) and just long enough to be modifiable to add a knureld part at upper end. At at least one of their restaurants I found them outside of the front counter and was able to obtain a few cheap spare emergency styli
Oh well.
  HAHAHAHAHA You are grade man .....
Lost another one from the new phone in the few hours since I posted the KFC thing.
Uuuups - time to go out for a buckt of the Colonels finest.

Stylus falling out

I'm OK with taking things apart and putting them back together. Are there screen shots of someone taking the Blue Angel apart and fixing the stylus clip?
Please post
or even a video clip?
DIY Blueangle fix
Hi,
I had been using HTC BlueAngle for almost 2 years and very happy with it.
When I first got it, I dropped it the next day. The stylus holding clip was broken off. At first I tried to put tapes around the stylus to hold it in place.
It didn't work out at the end and I opened it up and put a piece of foam in the stylus tube to add fiction and avoid it fall out. I worked nicely.
I still love my BA even I am using HTC Universal most of the time.
Cheers
I have the same problem. Nice tip, thanks, I'll consider it too.
u dont have to do all that, the main reason it becomes loose is the bit of plastic that is attached to the frame gets weak... just open the back with the specialist screwdrivers which can be bought off ebay for nomore than £5 and either superglue it back into the correct place or just rest something like paper to make the plastic bit stick out a bit more so that the stylus gets a tighter fit....
go for the quick fix...just stick a 3mm width masking tape on the top part of the stylus and it is good to go. adjust the width of the tape according to how tight you want your stylus to be in place. HTH

Help, stuck pen/wand

HI there all,
Anyone got advise on removing a broken off wand tip stuck in my O2 Orbit, tried the four screws on the back put no real movement.
Thanks
Jez
I have heard that once you have the 4 screws out it just takes a little more bravery until the case comes apart...
Another option if the hollow portion of the stylus is viewable from the bottom is to stick an appropriate sized scew in there twist a little clock-wise and pull it out.

The sensor is magnetic that 'senses' whether or not the keyboard is open.
iFixIt.com is a great site to help with teardowns/troubleshooting.
thank you , that joged my memory. well at least i hope i can get it fixed or the wife will kill me....
I also need to replace my case, the silver colored edge has cracked in a few places. Might I ask where you got your replacement case from? Any tips you can give from your experience replacing it?
for the replacement of the silver case can you find at http://www.amazon.com/Silver-Housing-HTC-Repair-Replacement/dp/B0052QW60Y
and at http://shop.brando.com/htc-touch-pro-2-replacement-back-cover-silver_p04432c1050d039.html
i got mine off e-bay http://www.ebay.com/itm/370526944677?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
had all the parts i needed, everything worked well. only trouble i had was the the magnet for the screen rotation. remounting the brass screw inserts was fun, what i did was use one the longer screws same size. and heated the brass up and screwed the brass insert in.
other little tips. there will be little plastic parts and need re-secured. i just heated up a end of a T25 to melt the little tabs.
have fun it took me about 2 hours and , had to take part the phone a few times to make sure i got it all right.
