It's beta why not wait till official release then update to 7, god how long it took for Vista to be a stable OS, there have been some more posts about this and the answer tends to be install WMDC again, good luck.

the sad part is that with 7 being in beta, it out preforms vista a million to 1...
I should of wrote it.. yes i know 7 is still a beta, but when 99% of other programs work and better at that then vista. i see it as some other problem.

I was no way saying that Vista is in anyway good and have no computers with Vista on it my point is your not the only one with 7 issues and it's beta and will only run on your system till August 1, so why not just wait and use a stable OS XP Pro.
Here's some reading you may find help in one of the threadz http://www.google.com/cse?cx=000825...ssues&sa=Search&cof=FORID:0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8
Have you gone to USB to PC to see if turning off advanced network functionality if off.
Run Wndows update with the phone connected.

ive been using win7 for about 3 months now...WMDC 6.1 runs fine (on 3 different builds of win7) and my phone syncs just fine. as the wacky brit said, screw with the usb option
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/synchronize/device-center.mspx
thats the one im using...

i'm actually thinking about installing windows7 live at work. i currently have vista (i like it personally. especially on my laptop at home) and am using windows 7 on a virtual machine.

im using it on both my laptops, my desktop and my work desktop. have been running it for a few months (since 6801) and love it...no major issues that have been show stoppers, but it is beta.

to make WMDC install on 7 beta, use this:
Click the Start button , click All Programs, and then click Accessories.
Right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator. In the User Account Control window, verify that Program name is Windows Command Processor, and then click Yes.
In the Administrator: Command Prompt window, type or paste the following text at the prompt:
reg delete HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SQMClient\Windows\DisabledSessions /va /f
Press Enter to install the solution.
If The operation completed successfully displays, close the Administrator: Command Prompt window to complete this procedure. If "ERROR: Access is denied" displays, repeat this procedure from the top, making sure you clicked Run as administrator in step two.

Yep...the infamous Windows 7 Installer bug.
After you delete that key ALLL of your programs that use the Windows Installer will install fine. WMDC x64 installed fine and now my HTC Touch syncs up beautifully with Windows 7. Windows update even found some new update 'Windows Mobile-based support' or something like that

i have re-install the driver and point the location to "C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync\Drivers" and still no luck
and this kind of screen show up :
Please can some-one help me, i'm so desprate
You can try uninstalling the driver, then uninstalling ActiveSync (as the driver is included with the ActiveSync installation). Reboot. Then re-download a fresh copy of ActiveSync 4.5 and install. Reboot again and then connect your phone and see if you can activate Internet Sharing successfully.
Give that a try and report back.
thanks for the reply,
ive :
- uninstall the driver,
- uninstall the active sync,
- reboot
- download new microsoft active sync
- reboot
- and intall active sync again
- tap on internet sharing icon
nope its still show the same error. any other solution?
what's with downloading another copy of activ sync, anyway?
did someone here know, where is the driver file located, when the hardware install?
Activesync drivers
I've never had this problem before, but I've attached a screen shot of the activesync device drivers. I'm not sure if it will help.
Did activesync used to work OK before and now it doesn't? Have you installed anything else since then? Maybe there is a conflict with another driver.

microsoft active sync 4.5 still work fine, its still can syncronized with out installing the "windows mobile-based device" driver. see at the pic bellow :
did anyone have more solution on this? please
I don't see the network adapter for your "Windows Mobile based device" in the device settings. (Check my screen shots.) I only see your LAN, Wireless and 1394 Firewire adapters.
If you look at the driver info you will see that windows uses the same drivers for the Internet connection sharing and Active Sync.
When I enable Internet Sharing on my PDA then it automatically turns off the Activesync connection and connects via Internet sharing.

that's the point, when i connect my hemes to laptop using usb there is a buble pop-up saying "USB device not recognized".
then i look to device manager, there is no network adapter saying "windows mobile-based device"
just when i tap on internet sharing and connect on my hermes, it show up "windows mobile-based device" of course with yellow icon.
and even with out the driver install, i still can syncronive using active sync
any other solution?
Wow! Really strange problem. I understand where you are at. Have you only had this problem with this particular ROM?
Do you have another USB cable you can test with it?
The required drivers are in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers
rndismpx.sys
usb8023x.sys
Check and if they are there then maybe swap USB port and also check the cable. Can you try to install activesync on another computer for testing?
Sorry, probably not too much help for you. It's gotta be a process of elimination. Let me know if there's any other info I can send you.
the
- rndismpx.sys
- usb8023x.sys
is not present in windows driver, but i copy the files in to it. but still no luck.
thanks for the help though really appriciate it.
i'm looking for this file "Usb_Rndis.ndi" do you have it, or know where can i got it?

Sorry I don't have this file. I suspect something strange with your activesync, though I don't know why.
same problem!
Dear brainet
I have exactly the same problem.
do you find any solution?
Thanks.
i've got the same problem
I have also the same problem. I tested with different roms and differents PC. Windows Vista and Windows XP. the internet sharing works fine for a time and them connection its broken, appears the ballon USB Don't recognized.
I have to restart the phone to use internet again or to sync with active sync.
This is a windows problem. When i use internet sharing with Linux Ubuntu. i don't have this problem.
HTC 8525 HER100
Current ROM WM6.1 Shadow 2.1 TE
Previous ROM WM6 Schaps 4.31
If you have this problem and it has never worked, try a different USB cable. I have a cable that doesnt support syncing over USB, replacing the cable worked fine. This sint a fix for everyone, but it is worth a shot.
Internet Sharing
I don't know if this will help, but it's worth looking over:
AT&T 8525 WM6 USB Internet Sharing.
This may sound obvious but one of the main problems with active sync connecting to your device are firewalls. They block the connection. Disconnect from the internet, switch off all your firewalls and try reconnecting.
I had this same problem. Even registering active syc in my firewall program didnt help. The only solution is to switch it off completely. Some firewalls allow the connection (trend Micro/(my work)), some don't at all (K7 internet security/home) and some allow intermittently. Don't forget to switch off windows firewall too.
or suddenly internet sharing does not work with softbank in Japan?
I also have the same problem, all of a sudden. I wonder if softbank Japan have somehow disabled it from April 1st or something crazy. It would not surprise me... Unless anybody has found a solution?
Hi, I had the same problem, too. I used htc838pro before to do internet sharing and it was working great. Then I got htc3702 (victor) and tried to do internet sharing. It failed to connect successfully with htc3702. Then I went back to my htc838pro, it failed too with same problem. I tried with my Acer NB (XP) and Acer desktop (home pc, XP). They were failed with htc3702 first and then failed following with htc838pro. My htc838pro still works fine with any PC or NB which have not tried htc3702 before. I don't know if there is coincidence or not. But it looks like that I need to re-install XP on my Acer NB if I want to restore its normal function with my htc838pro. However, I think it should be able to be fixed... just don't want to give it up so soon. Thanks. YJ
May be this helps

Really GREAT work, Thanks!
Everything OK here, it is preferable to do a hard reset after the update.
Then you also have the nice new background etc.
I do have some problems with Outlook though.
For some reason i cannot setup a new account. Bug maybe?
When i choose <Menu> <Tools> <New account> nothing happens.
In <Options> when I tap on New Account... also nothing.
Can anyone confirm this?
Greetings to all.

Did You try to make a new one from today screen?
Click on Email and there's a ''Set Up E-mail''
Works for me - succesfully made a gmail account.
Exactly, on the Today screen I clicked on E-mail (Set Up E-mail).
Next thing I see is the messaging screen where I clicked on <Menu> <Tools> <New Account...>. The screen that is coming back is the same as the opening screen.
When I click in the Today screen on Messaging (bottom right) then I get a different screen with <Setup E-mail>. But when I tap I also go back to the wrong screen ("To create a new message, tap Menu, then tap New.").
Normally I should get a screen where I can setup my IMAP Gmail settings. It does m not however. Maybe I should flash again. I came from 6.1 (the newer build).

If I click on ''Set Up E-mail'' - I instantly get this screen - check picture
Ah, that screen is what I also expected to see!! Thanks for the picture.
But it clearly does NOT show-up in my case.
Soft reset did not help either
Strange, everything else is working flawlessly.
Will try flasing it again, could be a break in my flashing somehow.
Thank you Spiaati for the quick response!

[GUIDE]How to Enable .net Framework 3.5.1 Offline in Windows 8,8.1

Many of us are using Windows 8 Developer or Consumer Preview. While using Windows 8 Beta version, sometimes you will get the message to install .net framework, for running those applications which require .net Framework to operate.
But it becomes quite difficult for us to download and install Microsoft .net Framework online. There can be many reason for that.
Know here question arises that Windows 8 comes with pre-installed .net framework application, then why it is asking for re-installation.It is because Windows 8 beta Setup doesn't install the .net
Framework,we have to manually install it.
How to Install / Enable .net framework 3.5.1 in Offline mode
Go on "Search" Option of Windows 8 and type cmd

Insert your Windows 8 Installation Disc in the Drive
Now enter the Following command in "cmd"
Code:

Please note:- Letter "G" in above command is the drive letter in which your Windows 8 installation Disc has been inserted.
Just click Enter button after writing the commands.
Wait for a minute and your .net Framework will be installed.

Make sure you are running cmd.exe as administrator.
For me has been worked perfect on both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows 8 Professional.

another way : for x32 and x64
1.open run (win key +r )
2.enter: gpedit.msc
3.Expand Computer Configuration, expand Administrative Templates, and then select System.
Open the Specify settings for optional component installation and component repair Group Policy setting, and then select Enabled.
4.If you want to specify an alternative source file, in the Alternate source file path box, specify a fully qualified path of a shared folder that contains the contents of the \sources\sxs folder from the installation media.
example: D:\sources\sxs

Can you actually select your own backgroud image for the Modern start screen? If so i will give this a try tonight and let you know if there are any issues. Thanks for your work on this i am not the biggest fan of the preset backgrounds.
With a program it's very difficult, because there is a system file to edit. I'll give a try
I think too that the default backgrounds are bad
Doesnt work. Started with Admin rights, I can change the accent color but not the background
Build 9200 RTM
@AsakuraVN Have you installed a LP?
@All I find a solution to edit a startscreen background with custom background. After some test, developing and more test, maybe i can bubblish the new version with this function.

If it works then I crown you a legend
There are some problems with imageres file.
I have do this manually (the problems are the image format, depth and color and maybe Resource hacker...)
Here there's a screenshot http://dl.dropbox.com/u/54377272/screen.png

You mean a language pack? Then no, Im using a clean install of RTM. Might try again later
Looking forward to your new version with custom background though xD
The 2.0 version is almost finished. I need some tester before publish, because the editing of imageres.dll wasn't much stable (though the problems was resolved). One never know
Please contact me with a MP to test the application.
Thanks and sorry for the bad english
Thanks! I can't wait to try it out - V2 that is.

Need feedback (good or bad )
Tried this out of curiosity, but the start background image never changes, even though it says it should?

Some users can't change their background or accent color or twice with this tool...
I'm trying to find a solution (this problem came from 1.0 version...)
What version of Windows 8 have you tried? Have you got a language pack installed or your windows 8 is in another language than en-US?
Have you started it as administrator or have you restarted your pc and re-tried to edit background? Is your PC activated?
Sorry for a lot of question, but i have no idea of this problem...

Maybe the image selected was heavy and Irfanview (the tool included thatconvert images) didn't convert the image on-time. I will incrase the image converting time.

Thy this:
select a default theme and open the start-screen
return to desktop
select the custom theme and re-open start-screen
If this don't apply the custom background, look to \windows\system32 folder if "imageres.backup" is present
Maybe there are problems with permission of rename imageres.dll.

Does Powershell access work on W10M?

I'm just curious about powershell on W10M since W10 IoT and W10M shares some stuffs. If we can remotely connect powershell on IoT, then I wonder if we can do the same on W10M. Currently I'm trying it right now but it keeps throwing this error.

I've tried too when I was looking for a way to delete preinstalled apps . I remember giving up after reading something about W10M not supporting remote connections. I'll try again on the latest build and report back.
So, let's review the steps needed
1. Enable developer mode on the Windows Phone and pair your with your Windows computer. I used CMD C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\10\bin\x86>
Code:
WinAppDeployCmd list -ip 192.0.0.2 -pin 123456
for that
2. Start Windows Remote Management (WS-Management) on PC
from CMD
Code:
net start WinRM
3. Add Phone to the trusted hosts list
From PowerShell
Code:
set-item wsman:\localhost\Client\TrustedHosts -value 192.0.0.2
4. Test connection betwen Windows PC and Windows Phone
from PowerShell
Code:
Test-Connection -ComputerName 192.0.0.2
5. Start a remote PowerShell session with the Phone
Code:
Enter-PSSession -ComputerName 192.0.0.2 -Credential 192.0.0.2\Administrator
I get a window asking for admin pass
So, what's the password?

didn't work . Also I tried some random users like SYSTEM and WPNONETWORK but no success
I don't think so, because:
1. In WP, PowerShell folder is empty.
2. Even it would have some binaries of PS, WinRM service doesn't exist on the WP.
You can use TShell if it's still working on WP 10.

Doesn't work. Now I remember why I gave up last time, I think you must have Windows Remote Management or/and Remote Procedure Call services running on the phone.
In theory, the first can be started via HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\WinRM\Start value 2 and the second HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\RpcSs\Start value 2, but I could add just the first one with Interop Tools .

No, your addition doesn't make sense. This is how WinRM service subkey looks on IoT device registry.
This service needs a wsmsvc.dll file, which doesn't exist on Windows Phone.
So, you can add as many keys as you want but it just won't work.

Pingy https://www.microsoft.com/store/p/pingy/9nblggh0j8mc
Pingy is a Windows Phone 7 app which monitors your network resources. Pingy has its own PowerShell script library which lets you update secondary live tiles and send toast notifications based on your requirements. This will let you set any text or image as a live tile, the only limit is your imagination. Pingy uses the built in WS-Management service, so no third party application is required to run remote scripts.

Hey can you send us that DLL file? Lemme try if I can make that to work on W10M even if we don't have write access to C:\Windows. Looks like C:\Data\Windows\ is symlinked to C:\Windows but still not sure...

Pingy can only powershell remote to PCs or IoT, not powershelling to W10M's self powershell (if it does exist...)

Looks like we need to add the PowerShell binaries too to \System32\ . Now let's see if adding it to C:\Data\Windows\System32 works...
