This, I assume, is the very latest UK rom, I had 1.60 before that. Getting the machine tomorrow, will post exact rom then, however I do not know how to copy it and send it you guys, can anyone explain in the simplest term how to do this? I have XP, Thanks
out of interest, what was wrong with the XDAII?
Reply
it would freeze and only a hard reset could fix this when connected to a Socket SDIO card, this would happen every 3 or 4 days.
Re: sent my xda 2 to o2(uk) for repairs, returned UK Rom 1.6

If it's arriving tomorow, how do you already know it's 1.66 mate?
And just for interest, I seem to recall that the GERMAN version of the O2 ROM was just released last week at 1.66 - I wonder if this is a version of this for a UK market, or if O2 are about to release 1.66 over here too.
Anyone know how he can 'reverse assemble' it from his device so he can share it?
i had the same freezing issues but my device was 1.66
but i'm pretty sure that the freezing was due to a 3th party program
been awhile since it froze last
and i doubt it could be a hardware issue since hardreset always works
Mikey Collins - keep us posted on the outcome when it arrives please...
What program caused the crashing ? PocketWinc?
And I know it is coming with 1.66 because I called them. Any idea what sort of programs could have caused this?

What sort of programs could have caused this? The new upgrade you mean or the re-flash?
Could be a number of things mate, though usually a hard reset will cure all your woes.
Let us know what the actual real numbers are, for your ROM, extended ROM etc, when it actually arrives, as what O2 say on the phone, and what happens in real life, are noted for how far apart they tend to be where O2 is concerened.
And there will be an awful lot of people interested in your info, so keep us posted.

I emailed O2 Data Support about this, to see when or if they were intending to release 1.66.
This is my reply back from them:
Hello Mr xxxxxxx,
Thank you for your email,
After querying this with our technical team, we would like you to provide
evidence of the Rom 1.66 occurring, as we believe this not to be the case.
If you are experiencing problems with your XDA, you can replace the device
under warranty via your customer services team.s
Regards,
Paul
O2 Data Support UK
So can you give us some more info, or reply to me off board Mikey? As I suspect it is YOU that is correct, and O2 wrong, and would like to challenge them over this.

how to unlock xda2 rom 1.60.00wwe
i use xda2 unlock.exe
and press yes
get massage phone already unlocked
so how to unlock latest version
or is there after downgrade something like that
waiting for serious reply
To add
It was the technical service team that updated my phone, they warned me about Data Support.... and now you see
new rom?
Sounds good if you are right, and yes i am as critical about o2 as the rest of you, but ive found that there is an easyish way to get through to o2 on the fones if u need sumthing, call their staff accounts people on
0800131211
and since its freefone (in the uk @ least, i guess they have this sorta service elsewhere) it dont matter how long ur on the fone with them.
neway, will it be possible to upload the rom to the site?
Smiley
They are all shipping with 1.66 now
my girlfriend just got a new xd2, same OM as mine.
My xda2 which I am selling on this site also came with the new rom after they replaced the motherboard. I dont know if its me but the screen seems so much better, on a par now with the ipaq 3900 series, bright, clear, good depth of colour etc. Its for sale in the stocking up section of this site if anybody is interested. £350 Uk.
I just purchased an XDA II yesterday, and it also came with ROM version 1.66.00WWE (Incidently, the ROM date shows as 20th Feb 04)

I repeatedly Emailed O2 about this, and eventually there response was that more recent versions of the XDA2 ship with a slightly different screen (hardware wise).
New drivers are needed for this, and this is the ONLY difference in 1.66, which is not available for public download.
I emailed them back to tell them what a load of old cobblers, and that it includes a Cleartype tuner and more.
They went decidedly quiet at that point.
Any chance that O2 have fixed the Handsfree dll problem in Version 1.66? Can you get mp3 / Tom tom audio etc. to come out of the bottom connector? (Many people have a problem with the XDA II that they can only get Phone call audio to go to the bottom connector, even though the T-Mobile ROM's apparently don't have this problem.)
You can use a tool provided free on this site in the tools and software section to download your ROM to an SD card, and I assume that it can also download it to your PC.
I'm by no-means an expert, but I've had a go at fiddling with it so far and this is what I've found...
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/wiki/CompleteTools
Follow the XDA Tools link and download the program, tell it to read the ROM from the device and Put it on your PC, then you can post it here.
I know this program worked with flashing the ROM from my XDA, never tried it with an XDA II though, although I will try it when I get home tomorrow.
There were a couple of more difficult to use tools provided for the XDA II that need you to log into the 'Bootloader' on the device using a command prompt (Like DOS) style program providxed by HTC (the manufacturers of the XDA and XDA II) but I can't remember where they were and I'm using my girlfriends crappy tinternet connection at the moment and can't be bothered to search the site. I'll have a more detailed set of instructions posted asap if I can find out how to do it all over the weekend.
Other than that, if anyone else can post details of how to do it, I'd be very grateful cos it all seems a lot more complicated with the XDA II to change the ROM than it was with the XDA.
Cheers,
Rom version 1.66.00 wwe
Guys be vvvvv careful when messing with this rom. If you attempt to update it to sort out the caller photograph recognition bugs you are in for a shock. Now you may already now which versions are the "older" versions but I did not and updated with the current official update from the O2 site. My XDA2 is now a one week old doorstop. Any suggestions anybody. I did back up to my SD card before the update but do not have a card reader...............yet!
Hi everybody. Not yet bought such a device as I have first to understand wheter it is possible to install a Japanese windows. I need it to be able to read and write japanese characters and don't find a place where to find a device already equipped with such a software.
Also, does anyone know where an image of a japanese windows might be obtained ?
Thanks in advance to any one who will help.
Do you want to read/write Japanese, or for the entire OS to become Japanese?
If it's the former, you need the fonts containing Kanji, a set of registry entries to default fonts without unicode kanji chars to the Kanji fonts, and an IME that can do Kanji. A kanji dictionary is also useful.
If it's the latter, you need a Japanese ROM, and I doubt these devices have been released in Japan becauase of the different cell phone network protocols there.
More info on Fonts/IME/Dictionary here:

So, on using the phone in Japan...
Thanks Andy, nice of you and, excellent and pertaining answer. Let me go straight to my problem. I have to go to Japan for business and hope to use this device as a phone and as an e-mailer machine. You've answered for Kanji Hiragana and so on. I know that Japan uses W-DCMA as a protocol. Does anyone knows if it is possible to place a japanese SIM into it to make it operative there ?
An alternative would be to connect it (via BlueTooth) to a rent japanese phone, just for the e-mail.
Any Japanese reading this forum might pls, help?
Thanks in advance

I was in Japan last year for 3 weeks holiday (fantastic!), but my XDAII certainly wasn't able to connect to anything GSM/GPRS like over there. It was still invaluable to have as a PDA because of the Kanji dictionary program.
I hired a J-Phone temporarily while I was out there, but I don't know whether there are Bluetooth enabled ones out there allow the XDA to use the phone as a data modem.
Asukal - interesting website, I must parctice my Japanese more!

Japan has no GSM, but has a W-CDMA, you can use W-CDMA phone with your country SIM card and W-CDMA/GSM dual Mobile Phone(such like a nokia 7600/6630). we have very few mobile Phone with Bluetooth in japan. so you had better bring your M Phone in japan.
while i am in japan,i use XdaO2 IIs+Nokia 7600 with china GSM SIM. it was not officail roaming (china Moble Co also dont know how to do), but it can be done. also Hong Kong SIM can.
if you wish to hire J-Phone<now they are Vodafon japan>, Nokia6630 and Sonny erricoson are available with Bluetooth. but those phone were sim locked. your own SIM will be rejected and must use J-Phone`s.
i am very await for the MDA-4 with W-CDMA will comming!
Thank you.
Thank you Andy. Thank you Asukal. You guys, have made me understand the matter. Now I understand that I have either to have an MDA IV (as soon as it is available) or have an MDA III plus a phone like a Nokia 6630 for when I am to Japan.
Thanks again, have a nice day.
Welcome to Japan
Mr,spinzolone>>>>
MDA IV, if it come with New OS WM2005, i can`t guarantee to enable Japanese encoding internet browsing and e-mail inbox .
In my test with Beta-WM2005,(also another chinese friend so) still cant do it currentry. but i hope it will be solved soon.
Asukal: One quick question - I'm having problems with my font-linking, notably "\". Do you have any idea what might be wrong?
I'm using XDAII, PPC2003, with the ttc font collections rather than individual files. I've checked your registry files and the linking information seem the same as mine.
Hints for Japan ...
Dear Asukal, so do you think that with a iPAQ MM2003(first or second edition) patched for displaying japanese characters, and a Nokia 6630 I'll be able to send/receive e-mail while in Japan?
And, for a matter of costs, would you suggest to buy a SIM in Japan rather than roaming from Japan to Italy?
Any other hint for a European guy?
Thanks again a lot. Domo arigato

about SIM in Japan, Japan has no prepaid SIM card. you must make conract for a year! it was cost and troublesome for forginer.(ask some japanese friend to buy his name, US$100 at the first and US$30 per every mounth. One year contract.
So i suggest use your italy SIM.
Thanks a lot Asukal, it was a joy to me to receive your quick reply yesterday evening. I've followed you suggestions and now I have a HP hx2410 - Windows Mobile 2003 se v. 4.21 perfectly "japanized".
Showed it to the Japanese manager who's going to use it and he was very satisfied.
P.S. We were told from a japanese guy that, when we go to Japa we can make contract with DOCOMO or VODAFONE. Particularly with DOCOMO, asking for a contrat FOMA we should receive a SIM card.
You know, it is not that I want to have SIM cards. To me it's enough that my phone NOKIA 6630 works there. But I'm to send a manager there and I'd better instruct him on what to do to make connections in Japan.
If you could confirm that, no matter which contract (with or without SIM card), we can work, this would bring a smile on our faces.
Have a nice day

Many Kinds of English ROM were uploaded to XdaO2-Developers.com,
You can download and write engish rom on your chinese rom.
You can srech relative thread about that(for link of DL, or how to write rom)
If i had time, i can find for you but now i am on business travel now, no time to do.
Or you sale it and buy again! because if you re-write rom, no more guarantte by devise vender.

guys,
I upgraded to the official ANZ WM6 ROM, and it has changed my TomTom device ID which means I now cannot use the Traffic service (I already changed the device a few months back when I bought my Trinity).
I mailed TT support and they say then need a letter from my phone manufacturer explaining that the internal device ID has changed with the new ROM. TomTom base their device ID on the internal device ID (according to their support folks).
Has anyone else encountered this issue?
Can anyone point me to an article or suggest a way to get some info from Dopod, HTC, or Microsoft about what WM6 does regarding device ID?
Thanks in advance.
Don't feel that bad It happened to me too. I contacted Tomtom guys and they were happy to give me a new code. But guess what, if you happen to do a hard reset and reinstall Tomtom, the code changes again. When I contacted Tomtom about this issue they said the following:
Dear Gilbert,
Thank you for contacting TomTom support regarding the difficulty that you are experiencing trying to install NAVIGATOR 6 on your PDA. We are glad to assist!
The new NAVIGATOR 6 is compatible with Windows mobile 6, although, it is not compatible with your HTC P3600. If you decide to install NAVIGATOR 6 on your HTC P3600 you may keep experiencing problems that we might not be able to assist you with. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
Thank you again for contacting us, if you have any further questions or comments, please e-mail or call us at 1-866-486-6866 Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 7 pm EST.
Remember that at TomTom we believe in showing you the way, the easy way.
Best Regards,
TomTom support
______________________________________________________________
How lovely. I am already pissed about this as I cannot use my device with the current version for the Trinity.
Cheers,
Gilbert
thanks Gilbert- but that's terrible! I've had quite a few problems with TT6 going wrong on my P3600. Even when I downloaded the specific 6.03 revision.
At least you got somewhere with TomTom.
Do you have a support number I could give to them (as reference) by any chance?
cheers
I have Orange SPV M700 branded version of the Trinity which I bought off ebay & unlocked using tools available on this site & loaded the HTC 3600 rom. I loaded my existing TTN6 & had to reactivate but all went well as I was past 6 months since the 1st activation.
Anyway its been less than a month & I've now loaded the Dopod WM6 onto my phone but couldn't activate TTN6 due to new device code. I emailed TomTom on Thursday saying that I updated my Dopod D810 to official Dopod WM6 update. They emailed me new activation code today & all is working fine.
The Dopod ROM has a bug that changes the TTN Device Code; the other ROM's, official or otherwise don't seem to have the bug.
Once the new ROM is installed, the new Device Code ought to remain the same, even after a hard reset, but there will be problems if you later upgrade/downgrade the ROM, because the DC will probably revert back to the original one.
I've gone SPV M700 Orange -> HTC WM5 Official -> Mun-Rus WM6 SE and TE -> Dopod Beta WM6 (changed Device Code) -> Mun-Rus TE (Device Code reverted to original)
TomTom did offer me a new Activation Code, but required a copy of the device proof of purchase, and it took 2 weeks, so I reverted to the Mun-Rus ROM.
Your previous Device/Activation codes will all be visible on ttcode.com as long as you have your map Product Code so changing back to the original Device Code is OK for activating the maps. The problem is that even if you can reactivate the maps, TomTom Home will not let you revert to an older device association on your account, so even if TTN6 works, TT Home will not.
There is currently no fix for this- TomTom Support say they don't allow regression of account associations in TT Home.
For these reasons I've now abandoned TomTom in favour of iGO2006
Great another reason for not going down the Dopod ROM way.
It is not just TT... WM6 upgrade changes the Code of all my applications
Another way to approach it: each hard reset lets you download a new city map ;-)

There are a number of methods for generating device codes- based on IMEI, Owner Name, Device Name and other, deeper methods!
A lot of my programs have a new device code with each ROM, but the developers generally issue a new license without problems.
The trouble with TomTom is that previously, the Device Code has remained the same through all ROM updates, and they have linked their antipiracy policies to that. The recent problem with TT and device code changes has meant they have been caught off guard, and initially refused to do anything about it. I think the attitude is beginning to change, with the release of an 'official ROM' that changes the Device Code, but they still can't (or won't?) handle reverting your TT Home account to an older Device Code.
Don't sweat it!

guys,
I upgraded to the official ANZ WM6 ROM, and it has changed my TomTom device ID which means I now cannot use the Traffic service (I already changed the device a few months back when I bought my Trinity).

Hey guy! Don't sweat it! My TomTom works perfectly in WM6. How reassuring does that make you feel? Probalby very little if any! So don't sweat it! Just try updating your TomTom here:

It worked for me, and don't forget to give credit and possibly a donation to Luigi for making this all possible!

Hey Guys! Thanks for this. Athena user strayed here and stumbled upon this. What a relief. I was about to pour out some invectives on TomTom.Wrote to them almost 3 weeks ago and got the same response as others above. Thanks for sharing. By the way who is Luigi
I have 3 subscriptions of TT, but It looks like they don't appreciate their genuine customers

Here is the link to where you can find Luigi's Rom page. Believe it or not his page was banned because he wasn't able to write in English! Now his page is used for "informational" purposes!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1292874
guys thanks, BUT a few points.
1) My TomTom works fine- it is TomTom TRAFFIC which doesn't.
2) I really want an official HTC ROM (and anyway don't fancy resetting it again!).
3) My Italian is not so good, so it would need to be English ;-)
For these reasons I need TomTom to add my new device code to my account.
It's coming up to 10 days since I logged the call- I've had lots of responses, asking for a letter of proof, and saying it has been reset (but it still doesn't work).

Not exactly. No-one was banned. The thread has been closed because this person was just ignoring again and again the rules of this forum.
hello
like everybody , since i have upgrade to WM6 , my device code has changed.
So my traffic option doesn't work anymore
but where is the problem ? i have only changed this device code on the site tomtom.com and now i can use this option in WM6
perhaps i don't understand the thread , but why have you write to tomtom ?
Regards
hi - you can only change the device code ONCE every 6 months.
Then you have to write to support.
I bought my Trinity a few months back, and changed from my M600....
ach so .......
oups ...
so if i want to reverse back to WM5 , i have to wait or write to tomtom
thank you for this information
exactly :-(
I don't understand TomTom's logic.....

Hi there!
I apoplogize if my Google-Fu is weak and something similar has been posted before, but I personally couldn't find it, so here it goes:
I am in a little bit of a tigh spot atm.
Here comes the sob story, feel free to skip this to get to the actual question at hand:
I am currently on Softbank in Japan, want to get a HTC smartphone (not the dumbed down stuff they try to sell you here) so the plan WAS as follows:
1. Get an unlocked Touch Pro
2. Get the Full Data Flat Rate
3. Setup the open.softbank connection, MMSLite and all the other good stuff posted here by guys who gave a total noob the confidence that it can be made to work
So the Touch Pro was ordered, the subscription changed (will be effective of September 11th - yeah, I know, ominous date *sigh), the neccessary .cab files downloaded and anticipation set in.
Today I got the bad news that the online store that sold me the Raphael was actually out of stock (despite the fact that it doesn't show up on their website, they confirmed the order and I made the payment last friday). After having an attorney in our company threaten them that he would have all their bank accounts frozen if they didn't refund me within an hour I got the cash back within 10 minutes, so no money lost.
BUT
As far as I can search, I cannot find an online store that will actually sell you a Raphael for less than 100.000 Yen or thereabouts, yet Rhodiums are in abundance and at an expectable price of 80.000 - 90.000 Yen (that is what I could dig up on short notice). So it looks as if I "have to" get a Rhodium, since I physically refuse to fork over that much money for a Raphael.
Now for the actual matter at hand for those who are busy:
From what I can tell the bright heads here have been able to get a Raphael to work near perfect in Japan (i.e. use the flat-rate properly, get MMS to work via MMSLite303, read and write Japanese etc.) BUT apparently the same cannot be said for the Rhodium from what I could gather with my possibly weak Google-Fu. The connection set-up seems to work but regarding MMS and Japanese input everything appears to be still under development. I know it will get fixed eventually, (still, I want to be able to confidently step up to the iSheep surrounding me and laugh in their face )
So what's the current status on getting a Rhodium to work the same way as a Raphael on Softbank in Japan?
Any help will be highly appreciated!
EDIT
Yes, it is possible. Got the phone yesterday, set up everything and it works like a charm. So if you are in the market for a Rhodium in Japan: Do it!
And once you're finishied, be nice and say thank you to all the people who racked their brains and originally came up with the solution and then put it into nice and easy .cab files like BeeGee_Tokyo, Shunsai, Larsuck, Asukal and many many more

Check my website. All I wrote there is at the moment working on my TOPAZ aka Diamond 2 under WM 6.1.
Should be no problem to apply the same to a Rhodium.
Yeah, BeeGee's site was pretty helpful to me (i'm using the rhodium in japan too btw).
i haven't gotten my first bill yet since independently changing from Softbank X01HT to an unbranded HTC Touch Pro 2 (i don't actually use internet on my phone anyway), but i'm pretty sure it will be no different than normal. i just popped in the sim, ran the softbank connection setup cab, and i have been able to send and receive MMS and SMS messages and phone calls no problem (well, setting up the Softbank MMS is a little intuitive).
it was a little tricky for me getting Japanese input/output to work, but i detailed my steps here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550605
there are a few other users in these forums somewhere in the same boat as us, and i think quite a few of them have gotten theirs working without much problem.
Thanks for all the great info!
@BeeGee_Tokyo: I am actually very aware of your website and the cool step-by-step guide it provides. Really understandable. Big *thumbs up* for taking your time to write it
@shunsai: Yupp, I also read your thread prior to posting. However, I got a little bit confused in the end since there was (at least for my n00bish self) no real conclusion how you can get everything regarding Japanese input to work properly. Don't get me wrong, I really appreciate the time and effort that went into it, but the results appear to be inconclusive. Especially since it ended in a hard reset, which afaik sets you back to your basic rom.
Ok, enough kissing up After doing a little bit of cross referencing between several threads and BeeGee_Tokyo's page I have a few questions left regarding the Japanese input. I hope I don't appear as kind of a thicko, but I'd like to know what I am getting myself into since this will be a first for me:
1. The .cab provided BeeGee_Tokyo's page for Japanese input seems to comprise Asukal's LetsJapanWM6 (not entirely sure about the name) and the Ooki Japanese Input. Is that correct? If not: Please correct me an I WILL edit this post.
2. Unfortunately I couldn't find anything in Shunsai's thread regarding the interaction between the Ooki Input and the TP2 apart from something along the line of "Good, but not as good as a new piece of software could be" (briefly summarized, not quoted!). Anybody have any experience in that department?
What I would like to end up with when all is said and done is the following (rearding Japanese input):
- Be able to read Japanese
- Hardware keyboard still works for English/Romanji with all keys intact (Text prediction and/or XT9 are optional)
- Software keyboards to input Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji (don't really need it often, so using the stylus to input Japanese would be fine).
So in the end it boils down to this: Is there anybody who has successfully achieved the above on a TP2 with the .cab provided by BeeGee_Tokyo, i.e. LetsJapan and Ooki Input?
Again, thanks for all your help!

you are complete correct. I mixed Asukal's LetsJapanWM6 with Ooki Japanese Input. I love Ooki's solution, because it forces me to write Katakana, Hiragana and Kanji with the correct strokes

At least I was successfull Otherwise I would not share my solution
And another guy here in Japan contacted me and together we setup his Xperia X1 with my cabs.
And I setup my IT guys TouchPro with my cabs as well, and his keyboard is working for English/Romanji.
AND!!! ALL CREDITS FOR MY CABS GO TO THE CRACKS HERE ON XDA-DEVELOPER!!! All I did was putting together the pieces to an solution.

you've inspired me to clean up my thread. it seems that a lot of people passing by that thread didn't understand that i was finally able to figure out how to 1) be able to read japanese 2) write japanese 3) use both software and hardware keyboard to input japanese and english.
the hard reset you're referring to was just how my intial experimenting ended. the part after that (the highlights) is the actual steps/solution. but thanks, i realize now how unclear that was! LOL
i'll fix it in that thread later [fixed], but to do what you want to do on your TP2 you should do the following:
1. install Asukal LetsJapan6 and restart
2. install Asukal's IME_31J_FULL, but do not restart
3. install Asukal's Enable_IME and restart
that simple. romaji, kana, kanji, kensaku, tegaki (the handwriting recognition inputs) will all work. XT9/Predictive will be broken. And you will need to switch between かな カナ or 英数 on the soft keyboard to get the hardware keyboard to type in the language you want.
Okay, I'm so thouroughly convinced that I ordered the Rhodium today (should arrive on Monday) and plundered brando for some nice accessories (should arrive at the end of next week).
@shunsai: Ahhh ok, now I know what you were getting at. Thanks for the update here and on your thread!
But I'll probably try out BeeGee_Tokyo's .cab first and if that doesn't quench my thirst for Japanese input I'll give Shunsai's solution a shot. Reason? Shunsai's solution is far more than I assume I'll need at the moment and involves more than executing a .cab. Still, love that you figured it out and went through all the trouble associated with it.
Thanks to BeeGee_Tokyo and Shunsai (in order of appearance ), the crackers who figured it out in the first place and the community in general for being nice to a n00b.
I'll report the results of my efforts and once successful will mark the thread as "Solved" for the further reference of future eager-but-unsure Rhodium Owners!
Reading Japanese only
Am I correct to say that if I only want to be able to read Japanese, I only need to install Asukal's LetsJapan6?
I would say so from what I have read so far.
Optionally can follow the instructions on http://www.ookii.org/software/japaneseinput/font.aspx .
Admittedly, I still have to test all of the stuff in this thread myself once I get my Rhodium, but so far, I would say yes.
Deleted. No longer applicable. ;-)
Since some weeks I'm having no a Garmin-Asus Nuevifone M10 device and I'm very happy with it. Meanwhile not only HTC devices are having a own forum on xda devs, Samsung, Sony Ericcson and LG devices are also here.
In my opinion it would be great to have a forum for Nuevifone too but if I'm the only one with a Nuevifone its of course useless.
So my question is: Are there some others with the Nuevifone and if so would it be possible to make a new forum for it?
i just brought a m10 too. but kinda hard to find forums on it. anyone can help??
yeah...pls upon a different forum for ASUS mobiles...i have asus P565 n M10
I also have a nuvifone M10 we should have a seperate forum discussion for M10
I agree
I agree with all you guys. I just bought an m10 and have been fiddling around with it and i must say i'm falling in love. We really should have our own forum. I would really like to dual boot the m10 with winmo 6.5.3 and android 2.0.1 Can anyone tell me:
1. Is it possible?
2. If so, how to go about doing it.
I want to know how to get that mapping software off the Nuvifone and onto my TP2. garmin mobile xt hasn't been updated since 2008. can still get map updates (not legally as garmin no longer supports it, but hooray for the Internet.)
edit
researched that Garmin-Asus M10. Looks like it's not available stateside and that it runs WinMo 6.5.3. That means it has sat nav software on it, and it's processor (MSM7227) looks to be a 600MHz MSM7200/7201A so I bet it can be run on the TP2. Anybody else wanna throw down on a bounty? I'm about to go post in winmo software development.
3 days of usage - M10
Hi all, I got
Asus-Garmin M10 just few days ago - it seems to be great, as all other Asus devices and plus excellent navigation and gps functions from Garmin.
I also think we must have a forum for this device.
Does anybody know how to change software in it to different language? I need to change it from Russian to English. No software on the official web site.
for my previosu device, ASUS P526 I downloaded English firmware from Asus web site, for this one - nothing on the web site.

Did you get any offers on the Bounty? Iwouldd be interested in a fully working version that runs on other WM devices and uses the same maps as the GMXT version but with TTS and the other improvements of the M10.
Garmin Mapping Software
Even i've been lookin for a way to extract the map application from my GA M10, but unsuccessful so for. What i have been able to do so far is to figure out how to install original Garmin Navteq maps from another M10 and register it to my device... This was borne out of necessity as i went ahead and formatted my internal 4GB storage in USB mode and lost all map and voice guidance etc...
If anyone else has a similar problem, i will be glad to help you out.
