I have found a new metal case for the i-mate Jasjar/XDA Exec.
http://pdaden.com/shop/catalog/prod..._9000_SPV_M5000_Dopod_900_VPA_IV_cat_256.html
I ordered one today, it will take 2 weeks before I receive it. This is going to be my 4th metal case I ordered from the same webstore. Though they're in HongKong, my past experiences always have been good.
I sent them email to ask the followings:
1. Does it have a transparant plastic on the PDA display?
2. Does it have a belt clip?
It seems to have a belt clip hole in the back, but the pics don't show the beltclip somehow and they did not mention it either.
I hope it has a plastic over the display. Make it easier to see who's calling without opening the case. Some ppl may like it without plastic so that they can use the PDA inside the case.
Regards,
Fredy
Got two different answers. Pdaden answered me that the metal case has a transparant plastics in the screen window and it comes with a belt clip.
Pdair answered me that it does not have the transparant plastic in the screen window. Btw, pdair sells it a few bucks more expensive, but they don't charge for shipping.
I'll find out when mine arrived. Or may be any of you got one already?
My Opinion on Metal Cases
Like you guys, i've been patiently waiting for a good case, and while your search seems to be over with this metal case, mine will continue.
Currently I am using the Ipaq 6315's OEM "sh*tty-for-the-6315-but-good-for-the-Jasjar" pleather case. For my 6315, for the longest time I used the Famous Alumuninum Aftermarket case.
While that metal case was good in providing all around protection for the Ipaq when dropped (itls dings show), it also easily damaged the device....scratching it in time on the inside upon device insertion/removal for cradling etc. as the little bit of soft liner inside wore out to reveal the metal.
Plus the belt clip had a tendency to unscrew itself to the point now where it doesn't even screw back in to the threads. Plus the plastic cover fell off a long time ago.
So my case was from Innopocket, and I saw it being sold under various brand names, so I assume the similar manufacturing style for the JJ version.
One positive thing a metal case has taught me is to appreciate a case that provides encasement and all around protection Vs. the open sides of the Proporta pleather case, another one Ilm not sold on, while the book style design is coveted.
I'd like to see a case like the Heavy Duty Protection version Bellagio Designs has for the Ipaq 6315 which is in pleather, is cradle ready, and has no exposed surfaces when closed. Too much to ask for our $1000-ish device? Ild like to think not.
As a footnote, I've already mentioned my retrofit 6315 temporary case solution, and read somewhere of someone having a good retrofit result in the interim with an (OEM or Aftermarket) ipaq 5700(?) case.
If you've had luck with a good retrofit, I'm sure
a lot of us including myself would love to hear in detail about it while we wait on purchasing that perfect case, yet_to_be_made, for our beloved JasJar.

what do you guys think?
I just got one and it fits wicked !

I purchased the same item last month, its branded T Mobile, but a good fit. It has elasticated sides so would probably be suitable for other PDAs, I can also use it for my Sharp Zaurus SL-C760.
You may want to shop around on eBay as I purchased from a US seller for £7.99 including delivery although it took 3 weeks to arrive.
Mike
yeah I realised that these ones were a little more expensive but they are in the UK so easier to trace etc. and plus mines arrived next day, so I was well happy
In North America?
Does anybody know where I can purchase a leather case like this one in North America?
I've been looking for a case for my Universal that is the same as the Qtek case. Not a skin but a belt holster that has a magnetic clip for closing but the Universal slides out completely when taking it out of the leather case -- oriented on your belt horizontally.
Is this what you're looking for?????

This is the one I use for my JasJar. Great carrying case. I purchased mine from this seller (In fact I bought two). Works great. Good seller. JasJar fits right in.
Best deal in my opinion.
Good luck.
Take a look at this company, the Brando cases are considered one of the best cases to buy.
Flip Case
http://shop.brando.com.hk/bwdopod900leathercasef.php
I've bought 4 of my cases over the years from this company, although they are based in Hong Kong I have never had any problems with the service.
The delivery has always been within a week to the UK. I bought the side opening case last week from them and I'm very pleased with the quality
Side Case

Hope this helps.
I have to agree about BRANDO. I have bought several cases from them and they have always been very fast at delivery and courteous. Once i had a faulty case and after an email and photo of the problem they immediately replaced it!
Their screen protectors are also amazing, ive been using them on an A920, A925, A1000, SX45 and now my Exec.
The case from the first post is EXACTLY like the case that cme with my HP Ipaq H6340. I used it for a while until i hanged it for a krusell.
If any of you guys want a source and dont trust ebay, try HP.COM and look in accessories for the H6340/6315
Brando end-latch case
Actually, I ordered the Brando case that opens lengthways. It's not too bad, some small alignment issues with the openings in the leather...
I just realized that I like the JasJar without anything attached so I'm looking for cases that it's slides out of completely. Maybe I'll get a silicone skin for it so it's more tactile but after using my Brando case for awhile, I definitely want one that I can remove the JasJar from completely.
I must admit, the Brando case looks nice and feels good other than the alignment issue. Delivery was fast and service was good.
What I'm after is a nice holster style case like this one from Sena. Does anyone know if a JasJar will fit into this case??

You might find the Krusell Horizontic case suitable, but you'll need a PDA Large (code 94108 or 94113) and they're a bit of a dog to get hold of in the UK.
Brando vs Krusell
Yeah, I'm in Canada having real issues finding a distributor that carries the Krusell case.
And why am I looking for the case after buying a Brando?
Because the Brando sucks. After the second plunge to the concrete that my JasJar took because the metal screw holding it to the swivel swivelled right out (!), I've given up on the Brando.
It's crap. Your better to go with another case. Speaking from experience and one scraped up JasJar.

Check this out. Says they ship to the USA but not sure where they are based. I have this case myself and it is very good.

Dave...
the best Ive seen to date is the Piel Frama... expensive, but you get what you pay for ;-)
I've notice a lot of these cases for the universal, the edges are actually expose. You drop your universal and an obvious damage will be visible. The case that came with my Exec was crap, so as the other cases from O2. i have to agree, Piel Frama is the best one i've seen and the price is pretty quite expensive. :?
I have to say, I have a Krussell Leather 'Bikini' model with swivel belt clip which does the job perfectly for me. And I've dropped my M5000 numerous times with no damage even thought there is a lot of exposed casing... only problem is the stylus and SD card shoot out when dropped, I'm on my 4th stylus @ £5 a pop and 3rd 1GB SD (Glad the SD card prices have dropped!)
Has anyone tried the aluminium case for universal? Will appreciate user opinion as I intend to go for one.

I'd also be interested in the answer to this, please!
I have an aluminum case for my vodafone v1640, I find that its ok although a bit of a pain when you're using the phone. Also you can't open it flat when you are charging it. But I can put up with that as I like the protection it gives what is an expensive bit of kit.

Thanks. That counts it out for me.
I got a new aluminium case of flea bay for 99p + p&p of course.
I got it to protect my MDA Pro as I carry it in a work bag, its versatile as it opens flat (unless you have ear phones or usb plugged in), the case grips the keyboard part of the PPC but not the screen so you can twist the screen either way without hassle and. All the buttons round the edge of the ppc are accessable even when the case is closed, there are holes cut out for the camera & flash, but you can not see the whole of the display with the screen flipped and the lid of the case closed.
Aluminium case too heavy for the belt clip
I have used an aluminium case for a while because it seemed very practical, I have worn it with its belt clip. The problem was that the case was too heavy for the plastic belt clip and one day it suddenly broke at the weakest point. There was no mechanical impact, one part of the plastic simply peeled off from the other one and the case felt down.
Thank you all. I have made up my mind. Basically I am looking for protection. I am presently using an unbranded leather case with non removable belt clip. As I keep my exec in the pocket the clip is bit of an inconvenience as the exec can not be kept flat on a surface without removing the case!
I don't know what it's like for you guys around the world, but certainly in UK the accessories are awful, especially the case... couldn't believe after buying such an expensive unit, that's the best they could come up with!

It is the same here and the ads are quite misleading. Very often the material supplied is not what is shown in pictures. Unfortunately, the choice here is also very limited.
Hi guys,
Just got my Orbit and need to choose a case for it before I use it as its cost a lot of £££ and I want to keep it looking nice.
I'm looking for a case that:
- is small, light and snug fitting so doesn't detract from nice Orbit size / shape
- good protection from knocks and the occasional drop
- easy to get the orbit in and out for when using sat nav in cradle
- looks good
- protects from dirt
- protects the screen when not in use
- still access wi-fi, stylus, ports etc
For those reasons I have discounted the silicon cases and have plumped for either the Krussell leather case (from ebay @ £10 - are they real or fakes?) or the aluminium case...
Both are similar prices, so I am really looking for people have tried one or both for advice on which case best meets the needs above...
Cheers

lol, brilliant! i have a Aluminium Case for my MDACIII which looks great (until it gets scratched ) but is a bit fiddely at times...
Thanks NM8 but I have kind of discounted the sandwich bag and silicon case option.... its def either leather or aluminium...
Think I might just have to get one and give it a try and see what its like... then i'll have to re-sell and buy the other if the first is rubbish!
I actually use a Black Aluminium case for my Artemis which is nice and looks great. Tjhere are so many versions I have the PDAir brand which I think is the best cosmetically (design).
The only problem with it is when I am sending SMS. Because Im right handed, the front of the case gets in the way when opened so I cant use single hand to compose SMS.
Otherwise its a brilliant piece of protection!
I use the silicon case and it's perfect for my needs. I broke one of my pdas because it fell out of my shirt pocket when I picked something up from the floor. The display broke and I had to buy a new one. The silicon case is a little bit sticky. The protection is not the best if you really drop but it's not as bulky as other cases, I have my pda in my pants most of the time. Leater or aluminium would make it too bukly.
Cheers mate, got a silicon case for my K800i and whilst its my preferred option for that phone (along with a screen protector) I wouldn't have one for my Orbit as there is nothing to protect the touch screen...
Still looking for opinions from people who have the aluminium or leather cases what they think...
I have a Krussel, it is good and comes with a belt clip as standard. It has a few drawbacks the worst I guess it that if you use the dashboard hanger the flap falls down over the screen! Other than that it is great! The stiffener in the flap really does protect the screen when it is closed though.
Update... after much thinking and surfing cases i'm considering are:
Case 1 Looks a bit cheap and nasty but I like the style.....
Case 2 - Looks a lot nicer version of the above and seems to have better cut outs on the back. Think this is my fave....
Krussell case - looks nice but most expensive...
Any thoughts appreciated... especially from anyone who has any of the above....
PLUS - not sure whether to go for "book" type opening or "flip up".
Decided against the aluminium case after watching the youtube review and they said you can't get the stylus out without taking it out of the case....
I have been using the Pdair Aluminium case for over 12 months, and believe me it has saved my Artemis on a number of occasions, I have put an Orbit into it and the more rounded corners do indeed hinder the stylus removal, but for protection I would put up with the inconveniance - I have both a silver and Black case, the silver one is like new as I have not used it too often, the black one looks like it has seen a fair bit of service but the Artemis is still like new (thankfully) - probably the best £15 I have spent on a case in a very long time to be honest - Mike
Has anybody come across a clear case which prevents the screen being touched?? need one for use on my motorbike whilst using the satnav.
Thanks in anticipation

Have a look at this thread:

Hi gk141054. Yes, you are quite correct, the PDair aluminium case does stop you removing the stylus - but that is fixed in about 5 minutes with a small round file. Or 20 seconds with a Dremmel!! Just grind a little material from that corner - enough to allow removal of the stylus - and blend the edges in smoothly. I can get the stylus out without even looking - the case now acts as a guide for your fingers.
Can definitely agree with Mike- it is a very neat, robust case, and I've been using mine for 12 months too. The hard plastic sreen is good too - you can see caller ID, alarms, etc, without having to take it out of the case. My case is black, and the number of scratches on the edges show just how good it has been at protecting my Artemis. Good enough that I'm looking for one for my Orbit 2.
Hope this helps.
I've found a number of Sites selling cases for the Ozone (I assume they'd work on the other devices based on the Maple/Willow)
http://www.wirelessground.com/s511skinsmoke.html

Does anyone have any experience with any of these vendors? Know the source? Or have any thoughts on the items?
Thanks.
IMHO i wouldnt buy a case just yet, unless its from ur service provider or from HTC itself.
in alot of cases and reports ive read they are using the Blackberry Curve cases with minimal NOTICEABLE modifications to make them Snap compatible, and well thats no bueno!
Talkie Tech Cases
I just got 2 cases from Talkie Tech and I can say they're made for the HTC Ozone. Definitely *not* a mod of another phone.
Price was $9.95(US) plus flat rate shipping ($4.95 I believe) and I got them in 2 days.
Very satisfied, they're a great product.

PDAir Cases
I've gotten PDAir aluminum cases for my last three HTC phones and they all fit great. Here's a link to the Dash 3G/Maple case.

I just bought this one on Ebay-
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=400070510706&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBSA:US:1123
I had a hard plastic case for about 2 weeks, took it off to pull battery and noticed pits from rocks/dirt that got under the case... Soft Skins = Win.
Had a silicone case for 3 weeks, easy to clean, no dirt, best buy.
I use the Ozone belt clip / holster available from VZW
Hard Plastic
I bought a hard plastic case, coated in rubber on the outside, for about $20 from verizon corp. store... It makes the phone a little easier to handle, without it I always felt I was going to drop it, def. a good choice for me, it snaps together well, and has a little pit where you need to insert the edge of a coin and pry it apart, not going to pull apart by accident. The thick design also protects the cam lens from scratches as well. I'd recommend something like this, by the way they even gave me my 22% work discount on the accessory, as well as on the monthly bill.

+1...I just got mine today and I love it....fits great!
Found a couple other websites, sell a lot more accessories besides just cases.

Will Ozone cases fit my Sprint Snap, or are there slight differences that wont allow snap cases to work?
Case Mate Barely There for Dash 3G
Here is one on Ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Case-Mate-Barel...wItemQQptZPDA_Accessories?hash=item19baaafcca
It comes in 5 colors, my choice is black.
This is the FINEST case for the Dash 3G, a little pricey but you get what you pay for. They go for about $17 on most websites. Form fitting case, protects the sides and corners and adds strength. Comes with a clear screen protector. Adds on a couple of millimeters to the size but you can find a leather case that will fit even with the Case Mate installed when you are on the go.
This case also removes easilly in case you want to change the battery or whatever.
I went quite a few cases before i found this one, and I love it. Forget about the cheap snap on cases they break, the expensive snap ons they wont come off without breaking, the aluminum cases block the signal, this is the case you want!
I´ve just buyed the black silicone case posted before, soon as I got it I´ll post some pics
I got 2 Ozone protective plastic/rubberized front case from handhelditems.com along with the mirror screen protector, along with fast USPS shipping - all for under $10 (USD)
The case fit together nicely & tightly, and made it nearly the same size as the classic Motorla Q series - all the factory slots, usb port, camera & side buttons are easily to use. It gives the phone the extra weight, touch & feel and even if it is dropped, should give it good amount of protection.
I then slide mine into one of those Motorola side pouch for extra margin of safety. At other things, I just put it in the pocket as it's so slim and away from keys, coins or items that can scratch.
I had the leather case with rotating belt clip from VZW for a while and that worked too, except the plastic over the screen sometimes do cause problem trying to read it outdoor, plus, dust gather underneath it.
I have a slightly used OEM Verizon Ozone holster if anybody wants to pony up $10.00 you can have it.
