Like the title says, my SDHC card doesn't work on the official wm6 rom for the dash. Can this be solved by installing a cab (I've tried a few that I found, but they disable my wifi and SDHC still doesn't work), or by editing the registry?
yea u can just install the file from here and ur good to go
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=354223
Have you tried this one personally? I tried it and it didn't work for me the first time... and it made my wifi disappear. There seem to be quite a few versions of it floating around.
it works perfectly but u have to have ur phone app unlock for it work other wise it wont work
Which Rom are you using? And what do you mean for the phone app to be unlocked? I've tried installing the cab, and now my wifi doesn't work and neither does the card.

i have an official wm 6 rom and u should do this first
http://mobile.surrealnetworks.com/AppUnlockReg.htm
and install that file firt and then reboot and then install the sdhc.cab
but u should really consider upgrading to one of the cooked roms
I was using one of the cooked roms, just trying out the official rom to see if it gives me better battery life.
Well, I still cant get the patch to work and my wifi's gone as well, even with the app unlock. The sdhc works out of the box on the htc official rom, but not the tmobile one.
so did it work?
Which tmo wm6 are you using? I've tried: 1.22.531.6 and the wm5 one as well. The SDHC patch doesn't work with either.. all the patches make the wifi stop working and no sdhc.
I am having the same issue on a t-mobile ROM, not working and broke my wifi...
This is what led me to this site...
Now to find out which ROM I should use....
so....

So...Can I assume that you actually have this up and running on your dash?
my 4GB sdhc is now working on the latest HTC rom. Wifi is back as well. yay
SDHC works on a cooked rom, but I don't like how I can't use OZ messenger at all on a cooked rom, so I was thinking about going back to TMO's 6.0 if I could find a patch that WORKS to make SDHC compatible.
And I've tried that patch, and it installs fine, but it does not make my card work.
I have a better idea (sorta 0_0)
Is there a tut on how to cook roms?
I found one in another section of the forum, but is it phone specific?

Here is a new version of HTC sim manager version 6.10 it replaces 5.30 which is the current one included in most newer cooked roms. I have tested it on WM6 and it works fine (should work on WM5 but untested). I wondered if it will fix any issues people have been having with their contacts showing twice, or any other problems. I would also like to know if you have any problems with it could you please report them here, as the rom chefs may like to include it in their cooked roms.
To install just unzip and replace the .exe file in /windows on your device.
Lets check this out..
thx!
for my ROM, i need to remove sim*.mui to make it run well.

does this sim manager let you when you go to add a contact directly save it to the sim instead of the phone?

Doesn't look like it, but I have only just installed myself and will test it out later today. As soon as I got this version I chucked it on my Hermes, run it, saw it was ok and left it!
@boz
but u must remove the .mui if u cook ur rom.
please trust me.
thank for update!! ^_^
Currently using latest 23/4/07 LVSW ROM.
Have tried the new Sim Manager, with no probs. Thanks for the update.

My Queston is - Why is the screen all out of proportion when viewed on a 320x240 device?
Where did you get this new version, which rom was it taken from? A WM6 device with a different screen res to 320x240?

why not ? there are lots of roms out there, check the wiki-pages
Choose your favourite, don't forget to run USPL before flashing and there should be no problem
....and please don't ask which rom is the best one - there are lots of threads about that and imo it's inadequate the say which one is the best.
All the cooks are trying to create great roms - it's up to you which one you like the most....
Yes you can upgrade or degrade
You can always upgrade to WM6 and downgrade to WM5 if you intend to change later. I have done it before many time installed different ROM's.
You only need to run USPL before any new ROM install.
I did this myself just the other day. You can get the official ROM from here for the UK XDA Orbit.
http://member.htc.com/ruudownload/O2UKRuuDownload.aspx?sn=SZ721FX00383&refer=http://www.my-xda.com/xdaOrbitSoftware.html
This one does'nt need USPL since it is the official ROM.

I think I'm going to go this route. That site says I need Activesync 4.5 - however I'm on Vista and using the Sync Centre application - will this do?
Have a look at this thread Anjow
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=317589&highlight=vista
I think it has everything you need.
Thanks. Given how complex that looks I think I'll just use my XP machine to do it.
Am I right in thinking that upgrading like this will hard reset the device? That I'll need to reinstall all my programs and reinstate my appointments/contacts etc.? If so, can I create an SPB self-extracting backup on WM5 then run it on WM6 to get my config back?
I know there are lots of ROMs out there but I was just careful and used the standard O2 release:
http://xda.o2.co.uk/xdaOrbitSoftware.html
And yes, it clears out your machine unless you have installed the software on the SD card in which case it just gets confused.
But it is worth it.

Odd, that site won't accept my serial number... I have tried many different combinations of what it could be (swapping 0 for O etc.) but it keeps telling me it isn't valid.
Just use the link I provided, it is the same ROM. Using the other link you have to make sure that you use Internet Explorer, other brwsers don't work.
Will do then, cheers.
slow downloads
could someone please up the official O2 UK WM6 ROM for me please?
i've tried downloading from the aforementioned official websites. it starts out at a fine speed, then gets slower and slower until it eventually times out.
really want to upgrade, so if someone could upload the official rom to megaupload/rapidshare i would be much appreciative.
thanks
Here you go, fortunatly I still had it on my HD from when I upgraded mine.
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=WOEXBYKO
thanks!
cheers for that much appreciated. however it seemed to download fine this time, but i'll get urs as a back up too!
this is the official ROM right?
thanks again
Yes it is the official ROM, I got it from the link I posted earlier in the thread.

I agree, but You can tweak the TF3D settings and other speed settings to make it fast easily with Advanced config 3.3.
Works OK.
Nice rom, I am playing with vodaphone sat-nav program v 4.04 now..
It uses the new 1.08.25.08 radio to, had to load the connections setup.cab to load the internet and data settings though, but cant get opera to work on any web page, weather updates ok thought?
screen shots from Vodaphone sat nav below..
Benchmark
Did a benchmark on this one.
See my regular thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2385460&postcount=1
Not superfast...
Is there a change list for this ROM, as really can't be bothered to install if there's nothing new or different besides radio.

I totally agree with that.
It lasted less than a hour on my device. First time that a stock ROM disapoint me that much.
- unlike australian testa ROM or other carriers stuff, I guess it's full of Vodafone limitation and settings, and that sucks!
- internet connexion doesn't work properly. Opera can't display any page.
- wifi very unstable, keeps disconnecting every few seconds...
- for the first time, I was unable to install chinese star (chinese IME) it kept saying invalid vendor ID etc.
(I've always been able to install it, on French ROM, WWE ROM, HK ROM etc.)
I guess Vodafone and Swisscom put in too many crappy limitations.
- In one word: useless release: I flashed back to australian 1.96 version and everything works perfect again.
P.S.: yes I hard reseted after flashing and from what I read from other testers, I don't think it's only my being unlucky...
Well after those glowing reports, I'm not installing it
Quite happy with how my Diamond is working already, would like a finger friendly full qwerty keyboard but will look for that when I can be bothered lol
Installed, had a look & zoomed back to 1.96.710.3
Hi All,
Thought i'd just have a quick look at this new ROM, didn't look too bad for those looking for a very branded Vodafone ROM (no surprise here).
Decided to head back to a safe known good in the Asia_AUS_1.96.710.3, until i can find a nice fast stable cooked one.
Cheers
Steve
after using this rome for a day i noticed the battery perfomanced had improved! crap rom so i kept the radio and flashed UDK!
after almost 15 hrs used reasonable use i had 50 percent left ! which is more than usual for me

has anyone gotten this to work with their Uni? need something like this. tried WMWifiRouter but its not free.
Tomals V10 n V12 have it,
+ it works
Hey thanks alot. I cant run those roms as my 64MB Uni cant handle them but they are nice. I was hoping to get it working on one of these other ones.
I have been playing with Thing's and Tomal's latest kitchens trying to make the rom for me. Need more info on cooking though.
Simon_WM, would you be able to provide a cab file for the software to enable the UNI to act as a Wifi Spot please? Thanks.
er....,
i think i've got the package...
ill hav a look for it and upload later

I have just installed Tomal's V10. So far its working for me. Previously I was experiencing random lockups say if I was using my stereo headphones and playing a game at same time or sending texts. After some changes (ex. disabling the windows default today plugin) I now have 18.95MB free program and 40.20MB storage. The built-in software works great for making Uni a wifi spot. Did Tomal release a kitchen for this rom? Or is it built on his V2.0 kitchen? Either way I seem to have been missing out on a great rom.
Now if I can somehow combine Cotulla's doc format, Thing's optimizations especially TCPMP and Opera being the default programs, and Tomal's great features I may never flash again.
Also for those not using Tomal's V10 but still need this feature check the 1st post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=588099
It worked for me and says its the full version. Im not positive of it but it did work whereas the other cab I was using says trial expired. Thanks all for the help.
Simon_WM, were you able to compile it into a cab file?
@boxchevy
Yeah Tomal release a kitchen:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=476544 (thread)
http://www.mediafire.com/?wzymtfmzjvm (download)
@Final5k
Although i've been around a longtime, i cant create a CAB, although i can uplaod the files direct from tomal's kitchen if you want?
I've added it in a ZIP format, you will need to then drop it into either:
OEM packages
or
EXT Packages
if it dont work either: PM me or Tomal and we try to sort it out!
thanks simon. im looking at trying to combine the kitchens if possible for a best fit for me. like i cant play warcraft2 with tomals V10. i tried adding the files for wireless modem to things rom but it didnt work. didnt add the comm manager option. ill keep trying. thanks though.
kwl,
you could try pming tomal for more help,
althouth depending on the kitchen:
Luca16thebig - Visual Kitchen
Thingonaspring - V2.31
Tomal's - V2 Uni kitchen
Hey thanks Simon_WM! I'll see if it works on my rom!
if it does... you could upload it for every1 else to use=]
hi guys....i dont know anything about htc artemis...i mean...if needs some kiind of unlock...or etc....i want to flash a new custom or original rom... wm 6.5 or 7... or android if its possible...but i want greek language....can anyone help me.. pls..?
I need details pls...because as i said i dont know anything...the only experience i have is with the samsung galaxy s 2 that i own... thanks
If I remember correctly, you should at first unlock your Artemis with USPL. Stick to the instructions and nothing bad should happen.
Then choose a ROM from here and install it (there should be instructions how to do this in ROM's thread or in readme.txt).
You can't flash Android or Windows Phone 7 on this device - it's just too weak. Of course, there were some guys who tried to port Android, it booted, yeah, but only few things worked (calling and touchscreen :E, no wifi, gps, audio) and it was very slow.
There are some WinMo 6.5 roms, but I wouldn't recommend them - on my P3300 they were usable, fully working, but kinda slow, so I flashed back to 6.1.
Check some ROMs and choose the one that you think will work the best.
Oh. Remember: before flashing remove SIM and SD card, and after that, do a hard reset.
If you still have any questions or you're unsure about something, ASK. We will not kill you and you will not brick your Artem.
thanks my friend.....ur the best....i ll try it when i ll be in home.... of course i want full fuctions of the phone...gps..wifi and etc....so...i ll try 6.1...or 6.5...or 7.. XD but what about greek language...is there a hope to find something ?
Have a look on the forums, there are multilanguage ROMs here. I'm pretty sure you will find at least one with greek language.
Also you won't find Windows 7 roms, Artemis is too weak for this.
i was thinking about a little overclocking...so that it can run the os
thx man i ll check it.... another question...when i finish the unlocking...with uspl...i must flash the rom immediatle...i mean this process erasing the rom...or i can open it again with my old rom....and then flash a new rom..?
No worries, you don't have to flash new ROM right away. USPL just unlocks your phone, it doesn't delete your old ROM.
But you should make a backup of everything, like contacts etc. because flashing new ROM erases everything.
About greek ROMs - I haven't found any, but I found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=336252
oooooooooooooooooooo my friend your the best....thats better....cause i can use it in every rom.... XDDD !!!
Well... I wouldn't be so sure about that. It's old and it may be not compatible with WM6/6.5. It's worth trying though.
