Hold the sym button (camera button) down for like 5 seconds and then plug in the usb while still holding it down and flash your phone with the official (original) rom the phone came with.

Pull the battery, and put it back in.
Hold Volume Down, Home (Center button) and while still holding them press and hold power.
Does it go back to the screen you're showing, or does it go into download mode?
open Odin3 (you must open odin3 before you start or it won't flash)
Put the battery in.
Plug in USB. (the phone will power on and goto the phone+!+computer screen)
Hold down both Volume buttons, and then push and hold the power button. Hold all three and do NOT let go!
Wait for it to go black and return to the phone+!+computer screen.
When it goes black the 2nd time release the power button and keep holding the volume buttons.
You should now be in download mode, click start on Odin, wait for it to finish and start enjoying your phone again!

Disregard Shep211's message, These are NOT the instructions for the Galaxy S I9000/I9000M.
They are for the T-Mobile Vibrant and At&t/Rogers Captivate.
Crap this is I9000 forum. Sorry I thought I was looking in captivate forum. My post works for my captivate with I9000 rom but it may be different since my phone is a captivate.

I had the same problem with one that wouldn't go into download mode. I had to just return it for another phone. Nothing I could do would get it into download mode.
so there is no other option??!
the problem is my phone is from britain. and i'm currentley in another country! and I don't think I could return the phone to any samsung store here because the phone isn't avialable here at the moment.

tried this and it didnt work. the screen goes black and when i release the power button it gors back the the same screen (phone+!+computer)
Since your phone is from UK, I am pretty sure it has the 3 buttom Recovery and Download mode active. Therefore, have a look at the following post and follow the 1st method exactly as mentioned there: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7152078&postcount=2
If everything goes fine, your phone should be running fine soon
Pull your battery out, leave it out for a while ( 10 mins tops ) then put it back in, hold HOME + VOL DOWN then press Power until the screen comes on, keep holding the other two buttons and see what happens.
You shouldn't be getting that same screen over.
You may have to try Kies to get it to work again.
@sturmeh
You rickroll'd me!!
HI,
I have the same problem..Have u fixed the phone or what happend? Anyone got any ideas what to do now ;P
I think I had that problem a while ago, but it was when flashing JM2. I tried different combinations of starting with volume down + home. Try taking out the battery and hold down vol down + home and putting in the battery again.
I've got a HTC touch pro 2,
running on windows mobile 5.7 or some,
I wanted to upgrade it to windows mobile 6.5
and downloaded the install program from the htc website,
I plugged my htc tp2 in to my pc and synchronized it,
I walked trough the install program and it started with upgrading it,
20 seconds later, when it was on 8% with upgrading,
the program gave an error and quit the upgrade..
I turned my phone off, when i turned my tp2 back on,
it gave the 3 coloured screen and won't do anything anymore.
I tried to hard reset it but that didn't help either..
Can someone help me with this problem?
Kind regarts,
Stijn
Try to re-download the 6.5 upgrade from htc to your my documents folder. Then reboot your pc and after it boots make sure firewall & anti-virus software and any other unnecessary programs are running.
Then pull the battery of your TP2 to turn it off. Wait a few seconds. Then replace the battery. Then press and hold volume down and while holding volume down button down press and hold power button until rainbow bootloader shows. Connect your USB to your TP2 and your PC. Then click on the exe rom update you downloaded and follow the directions.
Another way to hard reset your device...
With the phone turned OFF, press CALL & END CALL buttons simultaneously. Keep pressing these 2 buttons, briefly press power button and keep pressing CALL & END until you will see a message saying to press Volume UP in order to hard reset your device. Do as it says!
Hi there
I updated my phone to jellybean yesterday i am with tmobile uk , the phone worked fine after this everything seemed to install ok.
until a hour ago, i got a phone call answered it, then hung up, i put my phone in my pocket, next time i took it out the phone was locked on the boot page the white screen with htc logo on, i tried to power it off and the the 3 buttons on the bottom of phone started to flash white for 10 seconds then phone swithed off. the phone wont turn back on, it wont charge, tried usb to computer no lights nothing. the phone was fully charged when it switched off. my phones a standard one never touched bootloader etc
i spoke to htc they think its software problem, they say when i downloaded jellybean i used 3g not wifi (my fault) this could have caused the problem as there could of been a drop in signal they tell me.
the problem i have they want 210 pound to fix and they say its not under warranty as i have had the screen replaced, but not by htc voiding the warranty.
Can anyone here give me some advice or help to fix my phone please.
thanks
maka
Can you enter the bootloader by holding the power button and the volume - button together, keep them pressed until it enters the bootloader.

Hi All
I bought an HTC One V second hand last week and it was running fine up until yesterday. I bought a new Micro SD 32gb card and it seemed ok. I tried to download a map for skobbler (legally) but the thing kept stalling and slowing down. I had the no sim sign a couple of times as well as a disk type sign that I can't find in the HTC One V manual. Anyway, then I decided to turn off the device and take out the sd card. Booted but kinda slow. I finished with trying to boot the device with neither a sim nor micro sd inserted and the device wont boot properly.
I can charge, the orange light comes on and the yellow led was lit this morning to signify that it's fully recharged etc. When I connect the device to my PC there are two drives that appear on My computer but I can't access them.
I've tried the hard reset, holding down volume and power button but all I get is the three logos flashing at the bottom of the handset. They flash maybe 14 times then nothing. Once I let go of the buttons I get the the white screen 'HTC quietly brilliant' then nothing but black screen. It's weird because you can kind of see that the screen is on but it's black.
I will add that swiftkey was installed by a friend of mine and I didn't pay for it. The rest of the apps were purchased or free.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, this is my first smartphone!

Is your one v rooted...?? Try getting into bootloader mode (power button + volume down key, long press both the keys simultaneously for at least 10 seconds and you should be in the bootloader mode) after that perform a factory reset from there ..i think it will fix your problem ..+ u should not use 32gb SD card on a single core device ..it will make one v really slow..
Good luck ...
EDIT-
Have sent you a message on xda check your messages
hmm i used a 32gb memory card
do what Pranav says
As far as I know it's not rooted - however I bought it 2nd hand. I've tried the volume and power button together but it just vibrates, goes to the white screen 'htc quietly brilliant' and then permanent black screen.
This sounds sort of like a brick....

1. Turn off your device as u do.
2. Then press volume down.
3. After pressing volume down press power key. Don't release volume down.
4. Don't release any key unless and until u go to hboot screen.
5. From that screen reset your phone.
Follow step 2,3 and 4 properly. Cause it wont go into hboot unless u do it properly.

Thanks guys, I finally managed to reset the device. Problem was it was really turning off - kept restarting so I had to press the buttons to restart and then press again before the device tried to boot. Appreciate the help.
My tablet Galaxy Tab S 10.5 (SM-T805) screen went black. I can’t see the screen.
Touch also does not seem to work. However it’s on. it is receiving calls and other messages. It is connected to WiFi.
Power button, volume button are working but I can’t power off the device cause I can’t see the screen options.
When I plug in to the charging cable it vibrates but does not show anything on screen.
It didn’t drop and hit by anything…i have been using it for 3 months now. it just happened by itself or may be by some update that I don’t know.
Please help how to bring it back to life
Are you able to get into download or recovery? I've never heard of something like this before. Maybe go ahead and let it die and then plug it back in and see if you can get into download mode by holding home+power+volume down then re flash your stock firmware or whatever you were using. Or do home+power+volume up to get into recovery. If you still have stock recovery then you can just do a factory reset right from that but if your using something TWRP then your still going to need to flash something after wiping your data.
Not sure how else you can get it to shut off since you can't see it. Even knowing where the power menu is once you press the button it would still be tough to hit the right thing. I'd say let it die. Maybe someone else can come shed some light. Of course it could be a hardware problem as well. I'm leaning toward software still though.
If your still completely stock I'd say let it die and get into stock recovery. Home+power+volume up and then wipe data and do a factory reset. Now if the screen stays black after its off and you've plugged in the charging cable then I'd imagine there's a more a serious problem going on.
Yes I am waiting for battery to be completely drained out. I will try your method once the battery is completely dead.
thanks
Your welcome let me know how it goes. Will do my best to help.
I don't have my tab with me right now but can't you hold power button for 10 sec to force a reboot? All Android device I ever had could do that.

Doest work on t805 holding powerbutton, just hold the buttons for download mode and that will force it to reset and prompt you to press volume down to cancel volume up to continue...hold for 30 seconds, and if nothing appears let go and just press volume up once, still no joy then pop back cover off and unclip and reclip battery if your brave, thats what i did before i new about this quicker way.
How to run the battery completely down..? its still active and on... though not showing anything on screen.
Is there any quicker way... ?
To do a hard-reset on these Samsung devices, you need to hold Power + Home + Volume Down until it reboots. On every other device it's just Power. Some it's Power+Home. For some reason Samsung likes to be different.
Or if you have previously enabled USB Debugging, you can plug it in to your computer and do an ADB Reboot.
Power + volume down + volume up works for me as reset.
