battery question

wondering, last night i forgot to charge the Universal, this morning it was off.
Plugged in the mains and booted the universal, all fine. Then i checked battery status and it was charching nicely.
Now my question, never checked it out and couldn't find anything in the forum so i am wondering :
is there no backup battery? it does not show in my battery settings. if it is not there is the universal the first one without? LOL
or does it show the backup battery only after the main removable battery is fully charged?
I also noticed it retained all my settings etc, my qtek s100 would have resetted already??

there is no backup battery, the ram isnt volitile anymore its persistant, hence, no need for backup.

EXEC backup battery
I have just purchased a XDA EXEC on an O2 contract and in one of the instruction books supplied it mentions that there is both a lithium battery (the normal phone battery) and a NiMH button cell inside?
I have not seen any indication of this battery on the system information on the phone itself.

The switch you flick to get the battery out on this and the previous XDA's activated the backup battery on the XDA2, 2i and 2s.
Perhaps we have the same switch but no backup battery inside?

There is no backup battery, cause the Universal doesn't need it. *period*!
It's a new concept with persistent memory. No need for a backup battery (which will last only a limited time), cause memory content is save. It's just flash memory as in the sd-cards, which don't need any battery, too! :shock:
So no backup battery in Universal is an advantage not any disadvantage! :shock:

Universal problems.. battery?

Hi all. My first post...
So, here the point. I have an Universal, i think one of the first in commerce at least in Italy (well, i've buyed it.. oh.. 2 years ago, more or less).
Now, it had some problems: slow in some moments, bad call sygnal and sound quality. Nothing that a good Windows mobile 6.0 ROM cannot resolve!.
But in last 6 months, something going wrong: the phone is unstable, when i wire it at the charge, sometimes it don't start quickly to charge.. the red light don't appear and the battery don't be recharged.
Also, even with full charged battery, when i launch TomTom, after few seconds it reset, as all battery energy was quickly drained.
The combination of both events is funny: when i'm in car, and i want to use the tomtom, i have to collegate the Universal to car charger, but the universal have to auto-reset itself before starting to use energy from car.
Well, in my opinion this is a battery issue, and in yours? It can be also an hardware problem?
And, if it is a battery problem, i think it can be resolved substituting the actual battery. Can you suggest me an idea for an efficient but economical new one?

BenQ P51 - Battery

Hello,
i`ve a question to the P51-Owners. How many contacts has the battery. On ebay and co i can buy only batteries with 4 contacts. In the article-description stands, it`s compatible for P50 and P51. But my P51-battery has 6 contacts. Who know, where can i buy the "correct" battery?

I had the same problem ordered from ebay and got Battery with 4 connectors .
My P51 has 6 .
Found a few days ago this :

As i lately came up with this question and just to bring this thread up to date...

Got 2600mAh! My P51 really runs much longer with this.
But: gives the phone a hunchback, so no normal case nor the cradle do fit any more- of course you can cut off a part of the cradle
And: initially the akku doesn't start loading- stays at 4% for more than three hours,
but overnight you get it completely charged :up:

Will any other battery fit this phone?

I need a battery, and I really can't afford to wait for one to come in the mail.

Its usually not such a good idea to fit batteries other than the ones prescribed for your phone. The slightest change in the specifications especially volts etc can cause problems with the device itself.

I tried fitting my car battery in my S630 and for some reason the back cover wouldn't stick. I definetely recommend the ones listed for your phone.

Other batteries
The 630 is not the most common phone. Fortunately, the battery for the S710 (also called the VOX) is much more common and is identical. Not sure about others but at least this gives you some options ...

the battery for the Dash is the same.

I wish the dash battery fit, I have five, but it doesn't.
Did any service provider in the USA offer the S710?
Right now I'm using a Samsung SGH-t109 and I've had WM since 2003, so its definitely driving me crazy using this thing. =(
I have cash but my accounts overdrafted so I can't order one online yet. Would be lovely if I could find somewhere here in Houston selling them.

I get the same thing I have 2 different batteries but NOTHING!!
I Read somewhere its my dash!!!! not the battery how long have you had your dash!?

Had the same problem after 7 months and I called Tmobile and they replaced the phone and battery.

mine did the same thing...battery fixed the issue..then after 4 months it started again...if i would do just about anything it would shut off...so i replaced it with a different phone...i couldnt stand that **** anymore...so now the dash will be a dust collector with the other old phones...

Yeah mine did the same thing I read somewhere some of this phone do that after a while its a problem with the charging thing it tells you its 100% charged when really its only like 20& sol Im getting a shadow and getting ride of this Dash.

Have you tried turning down the clock speed(try a slower speed)

Yeah Im trying that now I have reduce it to 170 MHz and 192 MHz it looks ok now. It seems to turn off when I use the internet wifi or something that uses ALOT ! of CPU mem or speeds it up hahahaha this Pice of crap Sucks does anyone know any solutions beside getting ride of this crap that its drving me CRAZY.....

i tried everything...as in the previous post, it will idle fine, but as soon as something processor intensive runs, the phone dies...
having to use it while plugged in tends to take the 'mobile' out of mobile phone...to me, the dash became useless.

use omap clock which comes with the kavana/ricky 6.1 rom..in 'my tools" you should see OMAP

Oh great...... Well I just recieved a new battery and it seems to do exactly that, reboots the phone as soon as i try to open or do anything on it... cheap, but my old battery works fine? how does that make sense?

I brought a new battery 1050 mah with a 12 month warranty for $21 now it doesnt shut off any more, but now my problem is active syne because im trying to update/upgrade from wm5 i had it before but i took it off because i thought the kavana 6 was the reason it went black but now i cant even do a new rom ugh!

reinstall your ROM.. some 3 party apps may crash your device too..

The REAL Fix
Ok here is the scoop, all the OEM batteries are "expiring" which means you get a new one, it works for a week or a few weeks but it still goes bad and does exactly what the last battery was doing, which is cutout, and your phone goes black and won't come on again in many instances despite a full charge on the battery. Buy a new battery from simplo does not work long either. You will have to get on ebay and get an extended life battery. They make fat ones, and high-capacity ones (thin) ones. They cost more but they are manufactures much later than the original oem and oem-like batteries, except they are not expired. I went through three batteries, went to lots of forums, read lots of stuff and finally found an extended life battery that I could afford IE 12 bucks, some go for as much as 90 bucks but I'm not shelling that much out. Anyways 3 months problem free, and I got this phone cheap because of the battery black-out problem. hehehe That is the real scoop. The phones are still great, just ALL the normal batteries are no good, even the new ones. My battery is 1100mah for your reference a like or greater capacity battery would work great.
