I couldn't find anyone else complaining about this which surprised me.
I have tried all ROM's so I assume this is a WM6 issues but in WM5 with my 8525 when using the vibrate function whether it be for phone calls or new emails etc it would be a nice long constant vibrate.
Now with WM6 the vibrate function is a wimpy ass short 3 vibrate pulses. I mean I carry my phone right on my belt and I can barely feel it go off sometimes.
Is there a way to change this in anyway?
It vibrates AND sucks and you Complain ??
(sorry, couldn't resist....)
HAHA
but its my phone not my girl
Man I can't believe I'm the only one that this bothers and I can't find anyway to change it :-(

LOL! 10/10
Finally usable vibrate, the wm5 constant vibrate was so loud and hard that it was impossible to hear ring tone beneath it
WM5 used to sound like a cow mooing if on a wooden desk.

Now that's funny
Anyway, to try and give a possible solution (cos I don't always just complain about people posting repeat questions ) I remember reading something about ring \ vibrate patterns ages ago...
If you look in the blue angel wiki reg hacks page (here) there is a section about a third of the way down about phone settings and there's quite a bit there.
I've not tried it but it seems likely to be the fix
Good luck!
Yes but that is for just the standard ringtone because I already tried it. That hack doesn't do anything to the vibrate function for new email notification..
So my search continues but thanks..

some people are hard to please
I love the three short bursts... just enough to tell me theres a message but not too much to make my trousers look like there's a ferret in there trying to escape (like in WM5)!

Honestly I thought the same thing at first but I have noticed recently that I am missing them because its just not strong enough..Heck if I could up the amount of times to like 6 maybe that might help also..
Ok so to change the vibrate function during a phone call ring its
Phone Ringtone Script [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\RingTone0]
Change the value of "Script"
Here's the code:
a - stands for display
r - repeat/replay the script again
c - sets the volume C50, c150, c100
f - means flash .. f1 flash for 1 second and f0 stands for flash continuously
p -means play ringtone
v- vibrate then incorporate te]with number to state how many seconds it will vibrate example. v3 vibrate for 3seconds or v0 for continous
w - stands for wait or pause then specify how many seconds like w3(wait for 3 seconds)

So I figure with any luck I could find a registry setting for the vibrate on new email notification. The best I could find is under
HKEY CURRENT USER/CONTROLPANEL/NOTIFICATIONS
the ones at the top reprsent all of what you have for settings under sound notifications which I want but under the new email one theres no value called script.
Anyone else who is a bit more familiar with registry settings give me any ideas or anything?
thanks

I agree I could not stand the wm5 vibrate, I am constantly using im+ and that constant vibrate would freeze the device when I would receive simultaneous messages.
my phone is still vibrate like WM5, long and non-stop.
WM5 was too much, I definitely prefer WM6 vibrate, but think something halfway between would be better.
It seems to me that not only is it not continuous but it doesn't vibrate as hard, thoguht hat might be because the motor takes too long to get up to full speed, so the 3 bursts don't get it running flat out?
Definitely an opportunity for someone to put together a little application to make it easy to customise.
Has anyone been able to find where this is in the registry? I have reverted back to wm5 and would like to change it to the wm6 3 pulse vibrate rather then the continuous.
Has anyone figured this out yet?
The long continuous one of wm5 was really annoying (esp. when phone is sat on the desk) but at least I didn't miss calls / not see texts/emails arrive.
I would prefer something inbetween. Perhaps 2x 1 sec bursts.
I don't have WM6 yet, but have been reading these threads before I do apply it -- and THIS is why.
good thing you reported back nahgum. I agree it's long and annoying, but at least if ur in a position that you can't glance at your phone, you know whether someone called or txted.
For those saying WM5 is long -- it would be great to find a way to do something like 2 1 2 for phone and 3 3 3 3 3 for txt. MrDSL is on the right track, just gotta find the key -- then someone could probably whip a little gui to make it nice and smooth.
I have WM6 (Black Satin) and it still has the long long vibration, which is quite annoying.
Any idea how to change to the 3 short pulses mentioned in this thread?
The registry tweak is quite limited (cannot have pulsing vibrations while playing ringtone).
Thanks!
You guys should look into a program called "Phone Alarm". It allows you to change the vibration feature to your heart's content.
I been using several different cooked WM6 rom for the past few months and the vibrate changes in WM6.
In WM5 the vibrate is like one long continually vibrate for about 6 seconds or so but whenever I Flash WM6 roms the vibrate will start pusling like 1 second then pause then 1 second and pause for about 6 second total.
I am not feeling the pulsing vibrate or keep missing it when it in my thick pants pocket or jacket and I been trying to find a setting or regedit to restore the vibrate back to one continually vibrate like it was in WM5.
I have search with no luck and does anyone know how to change the vibrate pulse and timing in WM6 or setting for the vibrate?
I know it WM6 rom because vibrate goes back to what is was when I go back to WM5.
Thank You
Bill
Have you tried going to phone>menu>options>phone and set the keypad setting to long tones and the ring type to vibrate and ring, this is how I have mine set up and it is one long vibrate.

Yeah I tried that and it works when phone rings but it the text message or emails or IM notifications etc that I wanted to have long vibrate like on the WM5 and it still pulse vibrate with the phone setting on long vibrate.
Sorry I should had added in my previous post that it was the notifications from txt or mms or emails or IM that I am trying to set long vibrate to but thanks for trying!
Thank you
Bill
does anyone know if there a binary in the registery that I can change the pulsing vibrate to one long vibrate in notification?
Thanks
Bill
I just upgraded to 6.1 and on my previous version when i gotta text it just pulsed 3 times but now its like a full ringer and its long when i'm sleeping it sounds like a jet-ski driving over my face and its quite annyoing is there any way to change it? thanks
Go to start/settings/profiles and highlight the profile that you want to edit. Select menu/edit and you can change the style of vibration. I believe there is vibrate, pulsing vibrate, and multiple vibrate.
Hello guys just got a E4GT to replace my old school Evo 4g and have a couple of usability issues with the phone. I'm currently running Starburst ROM and love the ROM but I'm hoping some things can be added. I would like to post this in the tread for the ROM but can't due to post count. Great work Phantom. It's fast, stable, and I like the look and feel.
First what is Samsung thinking with their ring modes? You could easily choose 3 ring modes on my Evo via the volume button or Profile widget:
Ring, Vibrate, Silent and Ring+Vibrate (by checking the box in the sound menu).
Not so with the E4GT you get options of:
Ring or Vibrate (and ring+vibrate)
Ring or Silent
All this depends on the vibration setting in the Sound menu. Making it a pain to change between the modes. Every single phone I have had has worked like the Evo but this one.
Second the LED notifications. It's on or off, no way to turn it off for certain things like say email. My Evo had options to pick which notifications would blink the LED and this was nice when you get 50 emails a day.
Third the Haptic feedback. I could turn in on for the hard buttons across the bottom and off for the keypad. It seems that is off or on for the E4GT. This is very minor for me would would be cool.
Do these things sound like they be added with a custom ROM?
Hi Everyone!
I'm a recent convert from BlackBerry to a Samsung S3 as of three days ago and I'm loving being and Android Necromonger. I've already rooted my phone, and as I was waiting for the mew Milestone 5 to get posted - and now finish downloading - I had an opportunity to search around to try and bring back some familiar options that I had with the BB to the S3.
One thing that I'm missing is having the different vibration options for the different notifications. With my BB, I was able to have one type of vibration for text, another for emails and than a separate one for incoming calls. I never use the ring tones and the vibration notifications are a valuable tool for me.
I've typed in multiple variations of possible phrases in the search option to see if anyone has posted anything similar, but the most common post that I see is asking how to turn the vibration off within the emails or texts. If there is a way to do this internally within the phones options or an app to do this, it would be great if I could be pointed in the right direction.
Also, on a side note. Does the "create" your own vibration only work for incoming calls and no other notifications?
Thanks for your help in advance and I hope to be able to contribute back to this great site in the future.
