[Q] Different Vibration Notifications - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Hi Everyone!
I'm a recent convert from BlackBerry to a Samsung S3 as of three days ago and I'm loving being and Android Necromonger. I've already rooted my phone, and as I was waiting for the mew Milestone 5 to get posted - and now finish downloading - I had an opportunity to search around to try and bring back some familiar options that I had with the BB to the S3.
One thing that I'm missing is having the different vibration options for the different notifications. With my BB, I was able to have one type of vibration for text, another for emails and than a separate one for incoming calls. I never use the ring tones and the vibration notifications are a valuable tool for me.
I've typed in multiple variations of possible phrases in the search option to see if anyone has posted anything similar, but the most common post that I see is asking how to turn the vibration off within the emails or texts. If there is a way to do this internally within the phones options or an app to do this, it would be great if I could be pointed in the right direction.
Also, on a side note. Does the "create" your own vibration only work for incoming calls and no other notifications?
Thanks for your help in advance and I hope to be able to contribute back to this great site in the future.

WM6.1 official rom upgrade - call history / call log filter bug in today screen

Hey all,
Im a long time user of the forums but havent posted anything yet. Anyway, ive been seeing this issue on some other forums and after massive searching cant find a fix.
I just got the official upgrade to WM6.1 on my sprint HTC Touch. PRIOR to 6.1 the "main" today screen showed a missed calls link (icon is a phone with a "!"), which by default listed an entire call history - missed calls, received calls, and outgoing calls. AFTER upgrading to 6.1 the same button now only lists missed calls. there is a menu button which contains a filter, and the ability to switch to "all calls". the only problem is, this filter doesnt stick. after closing it and reopening it reverts back to only showing missed calls. This is a huge pain in my arse as I used that button almost every time i use my phone. (redials, sending texts, getting numbers, etc)
As far as my options on alternatives goes, this is what I know:
1. I know you can open the "phone" dial screen and access a full call history. (this is ok, but I really want a quick one touch access!)
2. I found the callhistory.exe floating around on here, got it set up in my programs and mapped it to the camera softkey. (also a pain because I had all my soft keys mapped to other things, and i tend to hold my phone in my right hand making it annoying to hit)
I would really LOVE to know if there is a way to get that "missed calls" key on the today screen to show the entire call history like it used to do!!!!! (or at least add/change another button on the main today screen to access call history)
I may just be screwed, but if anyone can figure it out I know xda-devs can. Any help would be appreciated.
p.s. If other people are seeing this thread and are in the same spot, and want to know how to set up callhistory.exe to map to a softkey let me know, and ill post those details on that temporary alternative.

I have the same problem on my Xperia. Does anyone have a solution?
Why dont you try this little app, dont remember where i got it from but very handy. It creates a short cut for your call history in the Programs section.Hope this helps.
has anyone come up with solution for this annoying bug that filter selection in Call History from Today screen does not stick and defaults to Missed Calls only?

how to turn off new email notification sound?

just wondering as I cannot find any button or setting for it, nor any posts here.
I found ways to change the sound, but no way to turn off email notification only.
am I the only one pi*** to being woken up during nights due to the new-mail notification?

Are you using gmail app? When you're selecting the notification the option for silent is 2nd one down, not in alphabetical order!
my god, so simple...
thanks so much for my and my spouse's nights!
Yup I know, I missed it until today when I was answering another post (the flaws and annoyances thread) some one had posted that it was possible. I double checked and there it was right at the top!
Anyone know how to do this using the mail app? It worked fine until I flashed the oxygen rom. Now my only option is to silence all notification sounds, which is not ideal.

[Q] Alarms, Notifications and missed calls/sms/e-mail

Hi,
Being a recent convert from Windows Mobile, I'm noticing how the alarms and notifications of applications seems separate from each other rather than integrated. Has anybody else noticed this, or is it just me? Also, what is the technical difference between an alarm and a notification? Everything seems to be a notification rather than an alarm.
Is there any suggested techniques/configuration to ensure all of my apps use the same notifications/volumes etc without me having to go to every single app and configure it? Also is there a way to configure how the vibration works system-wide? Every single app seems to have their own settings and its a bit of a pain. I also prefer a "longer" vibration in case I miss something (the phone is usually in my pocket).
Also does anybody have recommendations regarding applications which can repeat or remind me for missed events? I want a repeat reminder that I have an appointment coming up, or have missed an SMS or a call (but haven't noticed it) or have received an e-mail? I just want something like to remind me every 5 minutes by playing the sound and/or vibrating, for about an hour - mainly just in case I haven't noticed it - but I don't want it going on forever in case I don't have the phone with me and it annoys others!
Thanks,
Ian
I've just downloaded Missed Reminder which does all that I think. Although it's not for calendar reminders, which is annoying.
Hopefully that will change in the future since I can't find anything else that does the same job for calendar reminders - or Google will sort it out and add repeaters.

How to make repeated notification for missed calls or Msg?

Hi,
Using GNex with stock JB 4.11.
With my former dumb phone, when I missed a call or a msg, the phone made a brief sound notification periodically as a reminder. With the GNex, there is no reminder. I must wake up the phone and notice a tiny icon in the notification area. Is it possible to configure the GNex to remind by vibration & sound missed events (calls, message, and possibly calendar)?
Thanks.
Although people mostly recommend Light Flow (Light Flow Lite) for controlling the LED, it also controls notification sounds/vibration if you want. It can do repeating notification sounds on whatever interval you'd like.
Its a bit of a hassle to set up though because you need to turn off all notifications in the app natively, then use Light Flow as your only way of controlling them, iirc.
Hi,
Cool thanks. I will check that out. BTW, I find the periodic notification of missed events a useful feature. How come such an advanced device cannot do such a simple thing? I assume "simple" because that is what a dumb phone can do. Or is there any technical / logical reason for not doing this kind of notification in the world of smartphone?

I would assume that the repeat notification option isn't really as necessary when you have a really good notification system that keeps everything together in one place. Not to mention that people kinda live on their phones nowadays, so I guess they assume people won't be missing notifications that often.
GoSMS has the ability to have "reminders"

[Q] Vibration Settings not Sticking?

Just got my brand new AT&T Galaxy S III today. I love the phone so far. Right now, the phone is completely stock.
One thing that isn't working correctly is the vibration, most specifically for GMail. I use the Vibrate profile the most since I go to school and would like notifications in class without any sounds. I like the stock "Heartbeat" vibration pattern, so I selected it. When I get new mail, it uses the default "Basic Call" vibration pattern, which I dislike. Although HeartBeat is selected, it uses the Basic Call pattern. I thought it was a GMail issue, so I checked the settings in there, but no luck. I've also rebooted the phone numerous times.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks
