Question about GPS - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Dear eveyone
I have some questions about my HTC touch pro phone. I got this phone 2 days ago, but realized the speed of processing is reali slow,cz i compared my one to my friend's PDA, which has a lower processing speed, as can be seen from his phone data, and he bought it 3 years ago. Can something tell me if there is a problem with my phone or something?
Another thing is I dont kown how to use GPS in this phone. I understand I need to download another application for it..(I dont want to use google map,cz it wont direct u the way). Can you guys tell me where can I find the application and how to use it?
Plus: is GPS for free or I have to pay for it while using it?

Returned MDA Pro for Repairs

Hi,
Today I returned to the T-mobile shop. I deliverd my dutch MDA Pro for Repairs.
I have the following complains:
- Battery dies at 54%. Very anoying.
- Calls are not clear, sometimes I cant understand anything someone say. I have a bad reception.
- Device is slow. You all know it.
Befor I returned my device, I took out my SIMcard, Memorycard and Stylus. I flash the latest dutch t-mobile rom (1.30.233) to my device and gave it a hard-reset.
The woman at the story told me I should receive a call in 10 workingdays to pick up my device. I'll let you know how it turns out.

IMHO Your Uni is ok. Battery issue was described many times over the forum and its connected to wornout battery. (In Your case Youll should get new battery after a repair so its good point)
Bad reception is propably because old radio rom - have You tried to upgrade it?
Slowness is a personal matter - mine is sometimes slow also but it depends on soo many elements thats its hard to define what precisely is slow.
Anyway how will You survive whitout Your Uni - its a question ;-)

I know I can't. I just hope nothing goes wrong with my device, at least before any of the clamshell PDAs start to roll out. I would hate to buy another Universal, just to see a new version the next month.
BTW wats ur result after the upgrade did it solved ne of the problem .

Cracked screen need contacts...

Ok, I know this isnt a smartphone forum but, a friend of mine has a t-mobile dash and he sat on it cracking the screen. He needs to get his contacts off of it, I tried soti desktop controller with no luck there is an error when trying to install the app on the device. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Donno about t-mobile but I know cingular verizon and sprint if you take the phone (and are a customer) into the store and ask pretty pretty please with sugar on top can often download your contacts and either upload them into the new phone you buy from them or give you a print out. This only works if a) the phone is still physically working b) they have the hardware/software to do it and your phone supports doing it and c) the person at the store feels like it. A lot of the time they'll just say no or that they can't. But tell them you're interested in buying a new phone with lots of accessories and a 2 year contract and an extended warranty and magically they become capable of doing it

Artemis turns off during phone call

Hi,
my Artemis turns off every now and then and I'm getting a bit pissed off by the phone. Because it happens exspecially when I'm talking to someone. The error occurred first about two weeks ago and i tried to fix wit an hard reset, but that didn't worked out. I also don't think it has anything to do with the battery, since it also turns off while being connected to the charger.
If anyone knows help, I would be grateful.

My XDA Orbit is doing the same thing - randomly switching off when in use (either phone call or browsing the web). Its being doing this for over the last two to three weeks and I, too, am getting pissed off with it. My Orbit is over two years old so I'm suspecting the battery although the battery meter states everything is OK. I've just purchase a new battery on-line and, when I receive, I'll let you know if it cures the resetting issue.

Received battery on Saturday and early indications look as though it has cured the problem of the phone resetting. If anything changes, I'll keep you posted.

I have over 200 of these devices in their various guises, and I can tell you that this is a very common problem. If you are lucky you only need change the battery and the device will be fine. If that does not improve matters then good luck as I am yet to find a solution when the problem is not simply the battery. At the moment my best effort is to flash the device with an upto date original ROM and change the battery. It seems to help but I can't say it fixes them as I have not monitored how the reflashed devices perform yet. I will post when I have used the reflashed devices for a few months and see how they go on

do you have any findings? I got the same issue with one Artemis, and it seams the battery change doesn't help at all. I'm just wondering if you found already another solution to cure this world wide problem.

AT&T Tilt 2 Problems > Please Help!

Hey guys, so I've had the tilt 2 for about 2 weeks now and for the past couple of days I've had some problems with it. My phone sometimes REALLY laggy, this tends to happen MOSTLY when I'm trying to access my messages. The screen freezes for like a minutes and then lags a lot. I eventually have to hold down the power key and turn off the phone which takes a while, I try to stray away from taking the battery out. Also it seems as if sometimes the phone is acting really slow, trust me though I am very pleased with this phone, however these few issues have been bothering me.
Is their a reason why my phone lags and freezes every once in a while and is there a way to stop this?
Is their anyway to speed up my phone? If so how?
Also, I called AT&T and had my old LG Incite replaced with the Tilt 2, they shipped me the Tilt 2 and I shipped them back my LG Incite, they did this all for no cost what so ever on my part, shipping was free and I got my phone the next day I ordered it (First class mail I presume). Now the question is am I still eligible for the 30-day warranty? I'm not sure if that's exactly whats its called but I know when you buy a phone from a store you have up to 30 days to replace it for another new phone (same exact phone) if you had any problems with it. Can I get my Tilt 2 replaced for a new Tilt 2?

Well I think you are having the same issues a lot of us have had, and the thing is most actually flash a non-stock ROM.
HTC has released some patches for the laggy SMS issue you can find that here
Also I have heard to never ever pull the battery there is an actual reset button located above the stylus on the side of the phone, but you must remove the cover!
As for the thirty day warranty you may very well still be eligible I actually went through 3 Fuze's before I received a Tilt 2 (albeit it was unreleased... at the time I received 2 Fuze's), but the only way to be sure is to contact AT&T. I'd say your best bet would to be to attempt and obtain another Tilt 2 just to rule out faulty hardware, and then run the patches and see if that is better!
Oh and try jumping over to the ROM forum and read up on Flashing a custom ROM, but PLEASE beware if you do this you will have to revert the device to factory ROM, SPL, and Radio prior to sending it to AT&T! Essentially it "voids" the warranty, but you can easily return the device to stock with a little know how!

Edit: Sorry I kinda missed "is there anyway to speed it up" and yeah there are a lot of ways: Try looking for Advanced Config, Clean RAM (to keep your memory freed up), and there is a thread somewhere that lists bloatware that can be removed. However, the best and quickest way would to be to look into a Custom ROM, in fact there is a "bloat free" version of the AT&T ROM available on this forum!

Disappoiment asus

One of the worst smartphones . It doesn't worth its money . I used have other chinese smartphones at a price of 100e and they proved to be much better . Untortunately , i didnt expect that kind of amateur work about their software . I downloaded 3 OTA (ROOT NO ROOT OLD AND NEW )everything . with even worse and worse result . Im sure it is not lollipop problem , because other companies support lollipop with better quality . A great amount of asus customers have to many compaints about this product. You can tell , by looking at their official forum . The Asus company gives no solutions. in the official forum , they posted that whoever makes any complaints , they will ban hims out of the forum, with excuse of propaganda. +I have tried every solutions in forums , once week install ota and every single day reset factory. All these are enough for me!!!!! asus must consider its costumers not just as money or testees on their products , but they should be more respectful. I ve wasted 300+ euro for a piece of garbage and i feel disappointed and fooled .
Who is going to pay us back , for our 300+ euro ??
personally , i dont have extra money to spend. I invested on this ZNF 2 disaster my 300 euro , which i was trying to save them for a few months.

I understand ur frustration but can u please tell us which phone model u have as the high end model only supports fast charging... What version do u have and does the flashing of stock rom gives u any problem... Can u provide more info so that we can help u...

I'd say send it back and buy another model from another manufacturer. The only thing which is kind of bad (just a little) is the battery draining by "Android System". One can live with it (my phone lasts 2-3 days). But the rest is awesome for this price!

Another note to help improve battery life, please ensure to turn off 'Wifi Scanning always available.' To do this go to Apps/Settings/WiFi Settings/Advance Settings(menu in upper right corner)/Scanning always available/ turn Off.

Jokes aside: Maybe you should send in the phone to the manufacturer as you got warranty on the device. The yellowish photos, the SIM issues, the crashing apps, etc.
Maybe your device is just defective on hardware side

I've had the above phone fr 5 weeks
everything was fine after I installed the latest firmwares [last 2 May and June]
- network drops: especially when idle or after using wifi: calls get straight to answering machine and no notification; SMS I get them 3-4 hours later or longer
- phone wont even see external SD card. took it out and in but no joy; tried different ones they worked before and they work in my shield tablet [lollipop and ubuntu]; I also noticed in apps that 'external storage' has 0 kb and is greyed out meaning I cant clear cache or disable/ force stop
- can't get it to vibrate: again was fine before upgrades
- I did:, wiped cache after FW upgrades and updated all zen apps and everything else. I have a micro SIM [not cut one]. Yes I did a hard reset as well
- phone sometimes dies in network and people call me and it goes straight t answering machine; most times I don’t get any notifications [SMS] or I get them after 3-4 [many network drops]
I posted these problems in zentalk forums many times but never acknowledged by asus and only tip was to do a wipe cache
useless and appalling support , absolutely not fair; will never buy asus ever again
any ideas please? [oh, I'm on 3 network, bought phone from Italy]

Did you flash a whole firmware update or just the ones provided by the Software update app? I'd at least try this as a last resort:
Download the latest ASUS Firmware (not an update, that's the whole pack, also make sure you have ZE551ML model): http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/Ze...ser.zip?_ga=1.211888660.1601724807.1432814508
It's not the latest firmware, but I'm running on this one, too and everything is really fine.
Place the file on the root of your internal storage, then reboot just normally. When the Android System started it asks you if you want to flash the file which is located on your internal storage. Of course click yes and see if it works.
IMPORTANT: I noticed, that you need to remove the USB cable from the phone before starting the flashing procedure, otherwise it fails in flashing. Also the flashing take a good amount of time (about 15mins). If it doesn't show an error, just let it work.
Please report back, I'm curious if this fixed your issue

I'll try but my phone model is 550 but i'll look for it, although my Linux mint pc cant mount phone [I'll dl on the phone I guess]

Thanks for that link but I upgraded the firmware this morning to WW 2.17.40.7 and on that link or any other country link there's 2.17.40.6 and ASUS states it's not possible to downgrade so I guess I must wait
I'm gonna chime in here. Out of the many tablets and phones I've had over the years, I'm gonna say this ASUS minus a few quirks. Is awesome for the price. No phone is perfect, and never will be. I've had 3 updates since owning this phone. At least ASUS is working on trying to fix bugs and improve this phone vs other manufacturers that just abandon after one little update. If your unhappy return your phone and buy something with diff problems. Cause the people who gripe all the time will find something wrong with anything.
