dash internet question

hey guys, one of my friends has a sprint phone with the internet plan, and he says that he can connect his phone to his laptop with a cable and then he can access the net from his laptop using his phone. anybody know how to do this with the dash?? thanks

it's in your start menu in one of the folders...I renamed the folder Utilities and don't remember the real name...the program is called Internet Sharing. run that after you establish an activesync connection and you will be on the internet.
hey, thanks a lot, it works awesome.. its definately faster than dial up, but not quite as fast as dsl... but for being on the net on the highway, its awesome!

Conn. Prob. w/ Opera Mini/IE & BBC <-Used search

I have looked all over the internet, both on this site and through google, I even shot over to howardforums for a few. I know I saw the solution somewhere, but all my searches are filled with bbc connection probs, not internet connection probs. Heres whats going on... I have the TNT2 rom, I changed the aku version in my registry to .3.7.1 and installed Blackberry Connect 4.0.0.90. Everything there is working fine. The problem is that Internet Explorer will not work. I knew this was a possibility cause I read it on this forum somewhere. I installed Opera Mini browser and then my PC crashed and I lost my bookmark that showed how to make it connect through blackberry connect. Does anyone have the link to the page that shows how to get it to share the existing BBC connection instead of it trying to create its own? Or know how to do it? I went to Start>Settings>Connections>Advanced>Select Networks & changed both dropdowns to My Blackberry, then went to the MidLet manager and set the network on Opera Mini to My Blackberry, and it gives me this error...
Error
Failed to connect to the Internet.

java.io.IOException: null
Someone please Help!!!
Thanks.
You can only connect to the special Internet browser that is in the Blackberry folder under programs using BBconnect,, so when you click on to that Icon, you will get the IE explorer.. When your IE explorer comes up,, just go and locate your favorites, and voila.. It is a reconfigured IE explorer (the BBconnect installation does that to your existing Ie explorer). Total Manipulation,, browsing really is the pits using that Internet explorer. So, I advise using Opera (you can actually install on your SD card,), or Opera MIni(I put mine on my main memory). I really do love the Opera Mini (saves ykou lots of money on Data and is really neat, especially the new version).. Set up in connections a normal data connection with your carriers setup, and when you are either going to Opera or Opera MIni you should automatically be turned on to that new data connection GPRS (different than your BBconnect data connection).. Make sure for example, when in Opera Mini, for network settings, you choose the new gprs connection that you just set up, so it will connect properly when you go and connect. Unfortunately, the BBconnect really screws things up for internet connections, and it really is a pain in the butt,,because I have to go to BBsettings sometimes, to suspend the bbconnection, so as I can get either Gprs or Wifi connection, because BBconnection is always trying to connect otherwise. Supposedly, the Internet browser in that BBfolder is supposed to be compressed data, but I haven't seen much compression going on! and bringing up data is slow as molasses.. At least this is all my experience.. If anyone else would like to add to what I said or shed some more light on the subject,, please by my guest. Let me know , if you need any more help
my issue has been now that BBC is installed, I cannot use any other data connection, and no program will use the BBC connection. Also, when you mention that you're using opera, do you mean the full version you'd normally put on a pc? If so, does it have the drag to move feature that mini beta does? Thank you.
I think I figured out part of it. Theres a registry tweak to get IE working again, the problem is that it creates a new connection instead of using the BBC connection. Does anyone know how to get everything (especially opera mini) to run off the blackberry connection? I think it doesn't work right cause of the proxy.

way to choose connexion Internet Explorer

Hello,
my question seems to be easy but i'm looking for a way to change my connection when i open Internet Explorer on my HTC WM6, i have some differents connections and i always need to go in the configuration before to change it
Delete..
hey dude, just delete the connections that you do not need.. make sure the only one left is what you want for your internet explorer..
thank you or your reply but i need to have the 3 connections that exist on it. i have differents APN for differents usages, one for shared connection with my laptop with public internet, another to connect to my provider wap portal and a third for shared connection but on my company private network. so i can't remove the existing connections
hello all,
so nobody knows the way to do that ?
thank you

[Q] NAT in Hotspot mode and others...

Hi everybody!
I've lurked around looking for answers but I've found nothing so far. I'm quite new to smartphones as well as to Android, I've just bought a Desire immediately upgraded to Android 2.2 and here are my questions:
1) When I enable the WiFi hotspot mode how can I set a NAT rule on it ? I mean, I want to access my local computer connected to Internet through my desire hotspot from another computer on the WAN side. To do this I should instruct the NAT of my desire to forward all request on a designated port to my local computer.
2) Is it possible to mount a network folder in order to access files on it through any installed applications ? (For instance I'm not able to open a .doc or .xls on a network folder using EStrong Explorer as well as Astro as well as ...)
3) How can I associate a default application for each file extension ? (i.e. .doc: use quickoffice, .avi: use Rockplayer, ...)
Thanks
Sansone
I could be wrong but I would have thought that the Wifi sharing is more of an access point than a configurable router. I would be very surprised if what you ask is at all possible without having a router connect to the internet, using your phone as the gateway. Like I say I have no 1st hand knowledge of this but it is to me what would seem likely.
If you find out different please post back your findings.

[Q] How do I VPN to home network from work?

Hi folks
I'm not sure if this question should go here, but I've just got the Note 2 and think its fantastic.
However, the icing on the cake for me would be if only I could just browse my server at home while I'm connected to broadband wifi when out and about (mostly at work).
Now I have to admit I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to this (even tho i support vpn users at work, lol).
I've installed the Samsung anyConnect app, but am i right in thinking that i need to install something on my server at home (its just a win7 box)?
I would be very gratefull for any help/pointers on this please?
Once I can 'tunnel' home, then the plan is touse ES file Explorer to browse my shared folders to copy files and maybe even stream the odd video.
many thanks in advance
Rob
