My Diamond is my first HTC phone so I don't have any experience of how long they actively develop ROMs for their phones.
We're now on 1.93.x.x which is the basis for all the great cooked ROMs on this forum, but are HTC likely to release a major ROM upgrade for the Diamond which the chefs can work with - or does everyone think that 1.93.x.x will be the last official release?
its anyone's guess...
I remembered the o2 atom was way past its used by date... then out of the blue someone hacked WM6.1 to run on it unofficially...
same might be done when the HTC HD comes out...
i saw the clips on it... TF3D was running smooth as butter... with no choppyness / frame rate drop...
hopefully we'll get an 'official' firmware update... (since the hardware is the same more or less?)
if not there's the TF2D section in the xda hacking area... and rom cookers are always improving on rom speed
I had an iphone prior to changing to the touch diamond... there's more potential in this phone than apples...

There is an official version of windows mobile 6 relased from HTC?
@xx1182: Not for the TyTN specifically yet. DoPod ROM is out however & its more primitive than the current slew from the local chefs. Have a go at the search function to find out more specifics
@everybody_else: I'm growing increasingly intolerant of newbie bashing so I deleted your posts. If you can't post something constructive, expect this to happen.
Sorry for my noob bash. I just though the post was funny given the topic below was "Finally! HTC Official WM6 Download Site posted".
Anywho here is a noob question as I am new to WM6 and flashing my phone myself. Will the official HTC TyTN ROM be any better than any of the cooked ROMs? Do HTC have access to newer official Microsoft WM6 components that ROM cooks don't already have access to? HTC also obviously produce their own software to be added to the ROM such as the video dialer and X-Button. Do current ROM cooks have access to the latest versions of these?
I know I'll be able to answer my own question in a short while when the TyTN ROM becomes available but I'm just curious.
Sleuth255--I applaud your stance on noob bashing and would encourage more mods and Sr mbrs do the same. Taking the higher ground is always the better way to go. Quite simply, if one does not like the question, one is not obligated to respond, so there's no need for flaming. There should only be 2 options to questions-- 1.)answers with/without some education and 2.)ignore the post and move on to something more to your liking. If you feel that someone is wasting bandwidth with a stupid question, WHY compound that by wasting MORE bandwidth with a worthless flaming response????
@DTheTank: Indications are that the TyTN ROM may be AKU1.0 which would indicate a newer build than what we currently have for Hermes. I believe we are current on the CE core however.

Thanks Sleuth. Your ROM is the quickest and most stable of the ROMs I've tried. It would take something new and seriously cool in an official ROM to make me switch over away from my current ROM.
HY Guys.I HAVED ASKED THE:
hi.First of all sorry for my bad english since I
am an spanish user.My problem is that I do not understand why HTC wont release a wm6 for the P3600 since this device doesen? work verry well whit the actual released version of wm5.For all the oder new version of pda? HTC
have relesed an wm6 but not for P3600.I am a little mad sice this device
is not verry cheap you know and I can not enjoy of wm6.Thank you
WELL THEY ANSWER ME:
Hello Sir,
I understand, but apparently their decision has been taken, they
confirmed it to us (at the support centre) last week.
I'm forwarding your request and disappointment now.
Thank you for your enquiry, Should you have any other problem, please
do not hesitate to call us. Your Local number can be found at
http://www.europe.htc.com/support/csbyphone.html
SO WHAT DOES THIS MEEN NO OFFICIAL WM6 FOR THE P3600?
Would be kinda weird. I have a Herald, and that's a phone with a bit lesser functionality, apart from the hardware keyboard. The P3600 deserves a WM6 update just as much as the other current-generation HTC phones.
YEP
Yes This Is What I Have Told Them And They Answer Me That Thig.so It Seems That Will Have To Use This Great Versions Of Wm6 That We Have Here In Xda Developars
I´m sure HTC complains about this website, but thank to our rom cooks my wifi works because with their flipping wm5 it never did and their support didn´t know what to do.
To tell you the truth...who cares if they don´t release a wm6 version, because if they do it,the new release would like the ones released by Dopod, same green and ****ty dialpad, windows messenger and apps that most of us can careless.
Well dta1974 you are write ho needs their wm6 rom when here we have the best for the Trinity.

TomTom is installable on WM6 and Traffic info works with for example .mUn. 2.1 TE (which is also WM6).
Since DOPOD is releasing the official ROMs it became a mess for TomTom. First with the .17 version (and cooked ROMs based on that version like
INDIGO Lite) which changed the DEVICE ID and now with the .18 version it doesn't work at all.
It's TomTom which doesn't support WM6 (yet), WM6 from HTC doesn't make a difference.
Although I agree with the general population of pissed off HTC customers, I can't say I share the same opinion about cooked ROMs. Most cooked ROMs won't be as stable as an official ROM -- with horror stories about users having to follow procedures to avoid battery life, wifi, gps and other problems.
I do admit HTC ROMs will probably include software which most of us don't need but if I ever install a cooked WM6 ROM, it'll be only if it's a cab-cut-down version based on an official Trinity WM6 ROM.
What's worse is if this injustice weren't enough, they go ahead and release a WM6 version of the P3600 with slightly better specs. Sales seem to be more important than keeping a happy customer base.
there is also the warranty problem.
if i install the cooked ROM and i have any problem with my device and i mean any -even a hardware one like non working speaker- im sure that the HTC service center will make my life hard...

I have found that to be true. The Official Dopod ROM is more stable than the cooked ROM's I've tried.
most of cooked rom are based from the original dopod... so all of them are good... HTC maybe will not release an official upgrade but their ROM will not better of official Dopod... and it's always possible to put back the orginal wm5 if you have to send device to repair... so yeah it's a pity HTC will not release an official update but cooked ROM has nothing less.

Despite being based on official ROMs, it's possible a little too much is changed each time causing instability. I mean, let's face it -- one or two enthusiast developers cooking a ROM vs an entire team of developers at HTC. I'm pretty sure their collective knowledge ensures greater ROM stability.
As simonte mentioned, should any cooked ROM cause the device any permanent hardware failure, getting the phone repaired by HTC will be a *****.
There have been times I've been tempted to give in and go for cooked but I just plain don't wanna install Olipoop's HardSPL.

Sorry I guess I don´t get it,what do you mean by that.Sorry.
Battery drain with the cooked roms?I don´t know what to say because with the rom by HTC wm5,once I turn on the GPS...man my battery starts dieing, regarless of the rom and version and a few calls later and goes from a 100% to 80% really fast.
So I got to a point that If I have this xda I don´t even think about battery drain or memory leakage,it´s just a phone (I know it´s more than that and expensive)but that how I see it.
Bye and enjoy the roms ;-)

Battery shouldn't be dying that fast. I'm using the ANZ HTC WM6 rom and have no problems. With TomTom running and RF circuits on (With a few short calls) I still get about 6 hours of battery. WiFi seems to cause huge battery drainage though, rarely get more than 3 hours with it turned on. AX3L's rom since 2.0.8.2 seem to have best battery life though when using Wifi, just depends on what you want most.
i have been using the 6.5 roms and find there are a lot of inconsistencies among the different roms. hence my question.
yes, the roms are pretty stable currently, but i would like to see a more consistent interface.
once the official version start being released on phones, how quickly will they turn up in a cooked form on xda, so that i can flash my diamond with one?
I think HTC will not be released WM 6.5 for old diamond at all

i meant an official 6.5 version converted for diamond (which would be just as good, if not better than an official diamond version)
Well the first devices to ship with 6.5 officially are the T-Mobile Wing II (Rhodium 100) and the Dopod Tachi (HTC Twin) and that is in July at some point. So expect something shortly after that.
The 21815 and 21820 prerelease builds are stable and fast!
However, WM6.5 release will leak soon, they're at the end of developing... and... in final 6.5 version I suppose that there'll be few minor changes, because latest builds are nearly perfect... so don't be anxious for final version..
And quoting incredulous, someday of July we'll have final 6.5!

oh.. I'm sorry I'm misunderstand 'cause I'm read only your head topic
Maybe it's not be released until Microsoft have an announcement about the final version. I know everyone love HTC GUI
6.5 for our diamond
this just isn't going to happen...htc HAVE MOVED ON..... as i mean a real rom....we are only going to get ported roms for our old diamonds

Hi,
I apologize if the answer to this question is obvious or stupid - I can't seem to find it stickied or find it, but where do you get the "official" 6.5 ROM for the Touch Diamond? I was told by HTC that there is no official 6.5 ROM for the Diamond, so I'm a little confused.
me 2
I'm also looking for an official 6.5 ROM for the Diamond but it seems that HTC has not released any 6.5 ROM for Diamond, and the guys who cook ROMs around here are probably using a ROM for another phone (probably the Diamond 2) to cook 6.5 ROMs for the Diamond.
But I might be mistaken... If so, could someone post a link to the official 6.5 ROM for the Diamond ?
please guys understand that never will be a 6.5 for diamond. at this point we should not see updates/fixes or anything from htc to diamond1.
no rom
The weird thing is that I also have an HTC Snap, the Snap came out right after the Diamond, and you can download the 6.5 ROM for the Snap on HTC's website. Also, if you look at the number of threads on the xda forum for Diamond1, and you look at the number of threads for the Snap, you can tell that there are much more people out there caring attention to the Diamond1. So I don't get this HTC strategy to not release a 6.5 ROM for the Diamond1. Note that the Snap is also called the Ozone in the UK and that a lot of business companies use that phone over there... So maybe that's one of the reasons. Oh well.... I'm sure there are a few 6.5 cooked ROMs around here which are Ok for the Diamond anyway
RAM
Snap vs Diamond for RAM ? Maybe that is the reason ?
Nope.
Both have 192 MB ram.
I'd like to start off by saying "Hello! and Happy New Year!" to everyone.
I just recently received an Acer M900 for Christmas and I have to admit that I am lovin' it.
I am rather new to the Windows Mobile scene but I'm trying hard to catch up.
I know that there are Acer M900 WM 6.5 Roms out there since I've visited 4winmobile and eten-users but they seem to have some sort of bug (not to take away any merit from the chefs because they do a great job!).
So I was wondering if any chef here at XDA could cook up a stable WWE WM 6.5 rom for the Acer M900 since you guys do an amazing job here. I know it's an eten device and not HTC but I've seen some other Acer, Asus and Samsung devices in this forum so I was wondering if this would be possible.
Anyway, hope it's possible and thanks!
bump...anyone?
Yes. I support you and I also bought it for Xmas and I also like it very much.
But the fatal fault of this device force others to stay away with it - RAM!!!
Anyway, I hope some ROM chief have bought this device and start cooking light WM6.5 ROM.
Here

Thats your best bet, its hard to have someone cook a ROM up for you if they dont have the device, and bugs are going to be common in non-stock ROMs, hell even the stock ROMs have bugs
