Does any body know if the o2 xda supports hspda and/or 3G?.
Thanks
If you're asking about the XDA Orbit 1 (Or artemis as it's known on here) then unfortunately it doesn't. The best connection available on this device is Edge unfortunately. (In the UK anyway).
If its the Orbit 2 or any other device then I'm uncertain, the Diamond (or XDA Ignito as its known on o2) supports HSDPA tho thats definate.

Does anyone know the difference betweek the PDA2k and PDA2K EVDO? Can you buy the EVDO one in the UK? Will O2 be releasing this version?
The PDA2k is a GSM phone, with GPRS and wifi
The PDA2k is a CDMA phone, with EVDO and no wifi
Basically, you get the one that is right for your mobile service provider. In Canada, for instance, Rogers and Fido use GSM, and Telus uses CDMA.
Ah, ok, thanks. The imate club web site wasn't clear on this. Cheers for your help
Nice one TheLastOne and hope its not the last one.

Given that 3 Mobile in Australia now has both the Dopod 838Pro (Hermes) and Dopod D810 (Trinity), could it please be added as a GSM carrier for Australia (to join Telstra, Optus and Vodafone)?
Thanks!
Given that 3 Mobile in Sweden now has both the HTC TYTN ( HERMES) and P3600 (Trinity), could it please be added as a GSM carrier for Sweden (to join Telia, Tele2 and Telenor (old : Vodafone))?
Thanks!

I second that.
3 AU has had the 838Pro for 4 months now, and I was surprised there was no entry for it in teh drop-down when I updated my profile just now.
Please add "Australia - Three" to the drop down. Details and Logo @ http://www.three.com.au/
This is kinda funny.
Cingular is not in the list, and it has been around for quite sometime with the SX66.
Its cool though because AT&T is in the list and if the admins wait long enough Cingular will be AT&T again and they wont have to add anything!

P.S. Since everyone has been so touchy lately I would like to point out that I am not jabbing at ANYONE... well, that was awkward.
And China Mobile please, the biggest GSM Provider in China, which is not in the list.
Hi,
Firstly, great forum.
I have an unlocked XDA Orbit and my network supports EDGE. However, the device will only connect using standard GPRS. I can't find a setting anywhere in the device to set it to use "EDGE" instead. Is this feature disabled in the O2 software, and if so, how can I enable it?
Thanks for your help,
Justin.
I thought the O2 XDA Orbit is a NON EDGE Device?!
The Orbit supports EDGE!
If the Provider supports EDGE, it may be possible, that some cells don't support it.
At home, I have EDGE but at my woking-place only a few kilometers away, I havn't.
What about this ?
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL]
"EnableDifferGprsEdgeIcon"=dword:00000001
T-Mobile UK Edge support
I have made the registry change, but Edge isn't showing up. Does anyone know if T-Mobile UK support Edge?
Thanks
Dae
no network in the uk has an EDGE network for commercial use, orange have one but don't use it, it was set up in case UTMS failed somehow. so in the uk it GPRS only for the artemis i'm afraid.

Hello,
Stupid question - can my BA with WM2003se and unlocked to Vodafone be used in Japan for calls to/from the UK?
As the BA is Quad band I would think so! As long as its a GSM network, which i would think it is!
Thanks. I'm new to using the phone abroad and someone said only 3g worked over there - whatever that means. So quad band is worldwide?
Be nice to me, I'm new to this part of the xda world!!
I have a T-Mobile Version of HTC Touch Pro 2.
Can somebody please confirm if this mobile will work with 3G Asian Bands ??
or
In simple words, can i use the 3G Feature available in countries like India or Singapore with the T-Mobiles version of HTC Touch Pro 2 ???
Please advise !!!!
PS : And forgive me if this question is a repeat from earlier threads. I read few threads. But i didnt see a definite answer for this.
AFAIK T-Mobile TP2 uses UMTS 1700/2100.
According to http://www.gsmworld.com/roaming/gsminfo/cou_in.shtml there is no 3G network in India yet.
And for Singapore http://www.gsmworld.com/roaming/gsminfo/cou_sg.shtml 3G is available on 2100.
3G in India
Yes - We do have 3G services in India. Iam not even looking at the link that you gave.
Iam quiet sure, BSNL India is offering various 3G services from Corporate Services to DATA transfer services.
I may be wrong, But to my knowledge, we do have 3G servies here for over 12 months...
I agree... I can't see India not having 3G. Sounds like the GSM alliance needs to update their site.

Well, their site also says that T-Mobile doesn't have 3G.

This is my understanding...
T0 my knowledge,
Universal 3G Standard is UMTS2100. Tmobile Touch Pro 2 supports that anyway.
Not just for US, But also for most of the other countries UMTS2100 is a standard 3G path.
IT SHOULD WORK FINE ACROSS THE WORLD. UK VODAPHONE provide 3G access via UMTS2100. I havent read the details for BSNL 3G service in India, becos i didnt find the details anywhere ! But one of my friend who bought a same Tmobile's Android version phone works fine with BSNL's 3G. Iam quiet sure BSNL uses the same thingy....
And to quote another example, 3 Top mobile operators in Singapore (ASIA) --- * Mobile One, * StarHub and * Singapore Telecom Mobile Pvt. Ltd., offer 3G at UMTS 2100.
As a matter of fact, with respect to design - Tmobile offering of Touch Pro 2 is more reliable and more sturdy than the original version of TP2. It is just the fanciness that takes lead for the original version which are more prone to scratches.
I may be wrong.... Please let me know if you have more details and correct me if iam wrong................
