Does anyone know the difference betweek the PDA2k and PDA2K EVDO? Can you buy the EVDO one in the UK? Will O2 be releasing this version?
The PDA2k is a GSM phone, with GPRS and wifi
The PDA2k is a CDMA phone, with EVDO and no wifi
Basically, you get the one that is right for your mobile service provider. In Canada, for instance, Rogers and Fido use GSM, and Telus uses CDMA.
Ah, ok, thanks. The imate club web site wasn't clear on this. Cheers for your help
Nice one TheLastOne and hope its not the last one.

Does Anyone know if the blue angle roms work on the IMATE PDA2K EVDO I am assuming that it is the CDMA version of the blue angle.
Can anyone clarify.
Cheers
Jason
The PDA2K EVDO is indeed the CDMA version. It is sold by Sprint and Verizon in the U.S., and the roms are going to be different due to carrier settings and network info. I may be wrong, but I think that you will do big-time bad things to your phone if you try the roms not designed for the PDA2K EVDO.
Also sold as the "Harrier" by Telecom NZ, as a dual CDMA/EVDO device.

I have an MDA II, I brought back home from Germany
R 1.19.00
G 1337.43
D 2.01a.64WWE
I have unlocked it, reflashed it, even tried to have Cingular add the IMEI to allow it to connect, but no love. It simply will not connect to the Cingular network. I have been at this for several months, and recently pulled it back out of the drawer, dusted it off and tried again. Anyone have any idea as to why it will not allow the phone to receive service?
Also, if this helps???
I have also exported the Registry, and found something strange, maybe the key? It does not list the IMEI in the registry, as does my Cingular 8125. Could this be an issue? The registry of the 8125, lists the IMEI number in "[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL]", but on the MDA it simply is not in there anywhere.
Is it quadband?
Its tri band
as is my v300, should that be a factor?
If you're in an area with 850MHz coverage only, then yes it will. If your MDA II is German tri-band, it is likely 900, 1800, 1900. Only the last is deployed in the US.
What happens if you do a network search with a non-Cingular SIM ? You should pick up T-MO which uses 1900. I have heard that some if not all Cingular SIMs block network search of other operators within the US. Cingular Blue SIMs (ex AT&T) do not have this restriction.
I think you have the answer there. When I search for other networks, it does not allow it, and when I had this same phone in South Carolina last year, it worked just fine. The area I am in, North East Arkansas, has shoddy coverage at best, and is probably the reason I cannot use the cingular service. Thanks for the replies and assistance. Luckily my new office just got me a 8125, so I can use the pda functions I missed. Guess I can use this other one as the dedicated Tom Tom device in the car. Still has it use I suppose.
Thanks again.
hi, can anybody tell me if a VERIZON XV6600 can be unlocked for all networks, if it can would be possible to use a 3g orange uk usim? i think i right in saying that this phone is a ba but it uses cdma instead of gsm. if im wrong im sorry. thanks for your help.
I live in Melbourne Australia. I recently bought an iMate JasJam which was used on the Telstra 3G network. I am with Hutchison Three G network. They use the Dopod version 838Pro. I can use the JasJam with Three Sim card but I can not use other features such as video calls and internet browsing. Can any one help me with setting the JasJam to be used on the Three network.
I have a TP2 which I got outright and currently has 3 sim. Today I tried my friends Telstra NextG sim and I can't get any service. Tried manual search and also tried changing Band from Automatic to GSM(1900+850)+UMTS(1900+850).
Nothing. Also, manual search finds Optus network but not Telsrta.
This is a bit of a bummer cause I was going to switch to Telstra NextG in few weeks.
Would a ROM upgrade fix this? plz help.
Touch Pro 2 (WM 6.5 HTC Rom)
ROM: 1.86.710.3 (67102)
Radio: 4.49.25.17
btw. My friend has a Telstra branded Touch Diamond2
thats quite interesting! telstra are yet to release their 6.5 update, but perhaps getting a copy from your telstra friend when its released will fix this?
My understanding is thtat the unbranded TP2 is a 900/2100 phone. the settings may allow 850/1900 but it will not work. My understanidn is that the nextG version sold by telstra has a different internal antenna setup
The unbranded TP2 is quadband GSM but does not support Telstra 3G. Does Telstra not operate a 2G network? If not then it will not work on Telstra. You need either a Telstra TP2 or a North American TP2 (such as AT&T or some Canadian ones).
yeah Telstra does have 2G, but the whole reason of me switching is the Next G network.
can anyone with an Telstra branded TP2 post their ROM and Radio, plz.
wondering if changing the radio will fix it. I find it hard to believe that HTC manufactures TP2s, as well as Diamond2 or even Touch HD, just for Telstra.
