[RADIO]HTC RAPHAEL RADIO on DIAMOND US 3G - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV ROM Development

Hello there. I was wondering. Is the radio or driver that is being used in the Raphel could be used in the Diamond to enable US 3G??
I just saw that the HTC Raphael supports GSM850, GSM900, GSM1800, GSM1900, UMTS900, UMTS2100 band and the hardware that is uses it 32bit Qualcomm MSM7201A that is the same onboard the Diamond.
So I guess, when can give it a try with Raphaels Radio. What do you think?

I think its a Kick assss idea!
Please do Sir!

Take a look at this thread, it seems that there is some security code on the radios to work only on the designated devices, altough theorically it should work on the other one.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=420769

oh well i think i dont going to brick my phone forcing a radio to be installed if its not meant for the diamond... mmhhh just a shame

May work
That should work!!!???

I HAVE TRYED but appear a error message that say ID_DEVICE ERROR

Take a look at the Diamond Radio thread over here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=407956
The Radios from Bepe have been taken from the Raphael an can be flashed on the diamond without bricking the device. Just give it a try.
I don't know how good or bad 1.03.25.18 runs on the diamond, but I know there were stability issues with 1.02.25.11.

US 3G Diamond - What gives it 3G

I noticed an unlocked US 3G Diamond at Best Buy today. I'm sure this has been asked before, but I can't seem to find the answer.
What makes the US version work on AT&T with 3G over the imported version? I have not seen a radio upgrade that allows it yet. The handsets actually looked quite similar with the exception of the back and battery.
I'm just curious whether to pick up the new one in order to get 3G service, or is there a radio update expected?
Thanks to anyone that can shed some light on it for me.
I have a US 3G version and the freq. that at&t uses here has been enabled.

Sure, it would be the 850 and 1900 Bands. But there are Quad-Band radios available for the EU Diamond. I wonder if it's a question about the device not having specific hardware or just being able to enable those bands to work properly.
Sorry for my english
he American Diamond has quad band in GSM and only two band in HSDPA, The people here says that is a har problem not the radio, the people put the american radio (08) in European version and dont work.
The American version came with the 1340 mh battery and without the front camera. Carlos

I have a Touch Diamond I bought last week from new Egg, just like the ones from best buy. For some reason, I can pick up the 3G signal and it will hold on to it for just a second, then x..{disconnects}..then immediatly picks up Edge and then Hsdpa?
I get 25% Edge and 75% Hdspa. I guess if you read the box, it says it picks up a 3.5G internet Broadband Connection....Anything over 3.5mbps is Hsdpa.

I notcied that the US version had the 1350 mAh battery instead of the 900 mAh like the EU version. Was there any documentation on why they did this? Has anyone checked if putting the smaller battery and slimmer back on the US version causes any problems?
I also find it odd that HTC briefly listed the Diamond as a Quad-Band phone on their website, and have since changed it back to a Tri-Band phone.
I still have hope that our European Diamond will work with US 3G with somefirm ware flash or something
No, it will not.

Can any of the Diamond ROMS (except RADIO) be used on the USA spec Diamond?

Can any of the Diamond ROMS (except RADIO) be used on the USA spec Diamond? My mate has a Telstra (Australia) branded Diamond (USA WCDMA 850) and wanted to know if you could load cooked ROMS on it.
WDCMA Roms
Hi,
look to ppc-geeks.
There i have seen any WDCMA Roms.
Cheers,
mr.trader

I have the US 3G Diamond, have used dozens of ROMs and all have worked fine.
I may be wrong, but I don't think you can use a ROM from PPC Geeks, as these are for the Verizon/Sprint CDMA versions of the Diamond, as opposed to GSM versions with WCDMA high speed data.
I have a Telstra branded diamond, and i have loaded a few cooked ROMs on it so far. Also put the 1.00.25.05 radio on it and noticed an incredible jump in battery life (even though it was technically a 'downgrade' from the stock radio)

Diamond is not working in usa !!!!!!!!!!! Help

The diamond with what ROM or Radio ever , shows the freaking US Nonstandard Standard of 850 and 1900 mhz for UMTS
But to use it for online purpose is impossible. It goes only to Edge what is closer to the speed of smokesigns .
The old touch cruise does well in the same areas with the same provider and the same settings .
Someone here who live also in the (Telephone development country) USA and figured out any solution ?
Thanks a lot
i do not have the international Version of the Diamond
sounds like you have the European (900+2100) diamond that does not have the us 3G (850+1900) bands. if this is the case you are stuck with EDGE.
it is true
but the radio or HTC ROM shows 850/1900 UMTS is this just another joke from HTC ?
Thanks
some roms show all the radio versions but are not usable because of hardware dependencies. my rom shows the china 1700 umts band but i know the hardware in my phone does not support it.
it's not htc but rather rom cookers leave all the available versions in windows so people from all parts of the globe can use their rom and see the bands for their country.
850 mhz Radio ?
did found this information quite old but HOPE.
"Sure, devoted ROM cooks were able to give the Euro-spec HTC Touch Diamond some 850Mhz frequency capability. And then HTC came out with their own ROM update that gave the HTC Touch Diamond EDGE-support on the 850Mhz band. But, without a dedicated 850/1900Mhz 3G radio under the hood, the HTC Touch Diamond just couldn’t crack the US market like we’d hoped."
SO is there a Radio, because the 850mhz is there and to get 3G seems a Radio Issue

Verizon TP2 on ATT?

I switched to ATT because my wife wanted an IPhone. I figured the Tilt2 was the same as the Touch Pro2 on Verzion. I knew about the stupid keyboard, but had not realized it was missing the 3.5mm headphone jack. This is a big issue since the adapter is crappy and loose and audio is very poor. I use it in the car and everytime I pick it up to change songs the audio drops out and pops...
Anyway.. The Verizon phone has a Quadband GSM radio and Dual Band CDMA.
I read many places it will work on ATT, but only on the Edge network not the 3G network. See this article: http://pocketnow.com/tech-news/verizon-wireless-cdma-touch-pro2-works-on-gsm-att-network
If i'm not mistaken ATT uses 1900mhz
The specs on the VZW TP2 say:
GSM Quad-band phone capable of global roaming (850/900/1800/1900 MHz)
CDMA dual band (1900/800 MHz)
UMTS European/Asian 3G (2100 MHz)
Does anyone know if this can be fixed to offer full 3G?
I would imagine you wouldn't want to keep the stock Verizon Rom.
Could you flash the latest energy Rom on a VZW TP2 and select ATT as your carrier?
I would also imagine flashing the latest GSM radio might be bad??
Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
I'd love to dump the stupid keyboard layout and lack of 3.5mm jack...

Verizon released a Verizon TP2 radio upgrade in their official 6.5 ROM. A cab to install that radio alone without the official rom is definitely on PPCgeeks, and I'd imagine it's floating around here somewhere too. I don't know what you mean by "the latest GSM radio", but stick to the radio upgrade Verizon offered and don't flash anything intended for a solo GSM version of the TP2.

Thats what I meant.. The solo ATT GSM Radio. I figured it would be bad. There are many warnings that say it would be bad, But until just now I have not seen the REASON it's "BAD".... Bad can be relative.
If I'm on VZW and I flash a GSM radio and loose my CDMA.. Yeah thats bad!
But If I'm taking my VZW phone to ATT and I lose my CDMA but gain 3G.. Thats not so bad.
If I just brick the device... Thats really bad.
From some other posts I just read.. I think it bricks the device..
So for now.. I'll stick with the Tilt2.
to use the the verizon tp2 on the att network you have to flash a gsm radio. its disabled because of fcc rules. you will loose cdma functionality. atts 3g network uses umts(wcdma) 1900 and the verizon tps has umts 2100 which is used everywhere except north america. you can find guides on how to convert a cdma touch pro 2 to a gsm one.

Noob Rhodium Device ID confirmation

Hi guys, first post here! I've been reading a lot about ROM Flashing, checking all cool ROMs and how to HARD-SPL which is awesome... problem is I'm not 100% sure which device I have! And correct identification is critical for any flashing or H-SPLing...and I've already UTFS... I believe the Touch Pro 2 can be identified as an hybrid band phone, whit GSM and CDMA bands and I can choose between GSM and WCDMA... I'm running apparently a carrier free, unlocked version so when cookers state "for Sprint, T-Mobile...or GSM ONLY blabla" I can't really tell...
Device info:
Battery out, label states: RHOD100
WM 6.5 Pro
CE OS 5.2.21854 (Build 21854.5.0.80)
Device info:
ROM V. 1.87.421.0 (67729 WWE)
ROM DATE: 10/01/09
RADIO VERSION: 4.49.25.17
PROTOCOL: 61.44tc.25.32U
So please help me which tutorial should I follow? CDMA ones or GSM? Since I'm in Peru and using Claro as mi carrier (GSM) is my phone a GSM one exclusively? Will I ever be able to use the 3G? (here in the 850MHz band, HSDPA) Currently it seems this phone can do EDGE only but I see the option in the band settings menu. I don't want to brick this brand new phone in my hands! Please help me to be sure! (oh sorry my english, it's not my native language)
RHOD100 means that you have a GSM device.

That's it? So I should follow GSM H-SPL... and GSM ROMs...?
It looks exactly like the Deepshining's ROM thread pics, keyboard and color scheme.
Thanks!
Yes it is You may easily install Deepshining GSM ROM if you wish.
Just don't forget to use a GSM HSPL first.
For the next time: A CDMA device doesn't have slot for a SIM-card.
Thank you Jackos, you have been very helpful!
Just a thought, why my TP2 just shows "E" (an EDGE connection) if 3G is available? My carrier provides 3G via HSDPA via 850MHz band so... maybe I'm missing the 850Mhz band? Though I can see is as part of the options in the setting menu? Will a RADIO rom flash fix this?

Which carrier do you have? The 100 is the world phone, and the high speed radios work on European networks, I believe. The US versions are the 210 (T-Mobile) and the 300 (AT&T, I think). There are other model numbers for CDMA versions.
If you are using the European model I don't think you can get 3G here in the US. Wrong hardware.

Didn't know that, thanks. I'll keep in mind.
I'm in Lima, Peru and "Claro" my carrier uses the 850mhz band for 3.5G (HDSPA) here. I believe I have UMTS available in the settings menu in the 850 but since theres a HDSPA optionI thought that would allow me to connect. It looks the HDSPA option is not available for the 850 band but theres nowhere this is documented. Since I will flash a new ROM and most probably the newest RADIO version available, I will post any changes. Looks there's not a lot of info about the RHOD100.
OT: Radio roms are bands specific? (US EU versions?)
