can anyone help me to change my screen icons to this one which picture attached below? i hope someone could help me in this....
if its an o2 rom version then i would only assume you click start>settings>
today> then o2 theme.... if it aint then im outta ideas!!!
Thats O2 Active User Interface, it gets installed with any of the O2 roms.. and its totally useless I find. If you do want it though, you need to make sure you select "Personal" when prompted after doing a hard reset. If you select "Corporate" then O2 Active won't be installed.
XdaIIS icons
i do have an o2 xdaIIs asian version evernthough i put it on hard reset i never seen any perosnal or corporate settings it goes all the way to tapping new screen... wat will i do now...i find it unique here in my country...
Hi, i just got an XDA IIs and have been reading up as it does seam to crash regually. and i heard that removing the o2 active peice of crap helps. but i cant find anywhere how to do it?
Cheers Paul
The best way to get rid of O2 active is to hard reset, when the screen apears asking "PRIVATE OR CORPORATE" install select corporate then enter 0506 in the password field.
If you do this back up your phone and address book to the SD card, before you hard reset - do not try to re-install all your programs etc from back up following the hard reset, as doing this re-loads part of the rubish you are trying to get rid of - believe me if you do this it really screws up the handset - I tried it - wouldn't charge in the car, kept locking up etc. The sooner you do the hard reset the easy it will be - less applications to re-load - good luck _ Mike
Hi all,
I to am trying this reset process with an O2 XDA, when it hard resets I am not getting the screen asking me for "PRIVATE OR CORPORATE", any ideas as to why?
Can someone also confirm the Hard Reset sequene?
Many thanks
Paul
what i do is, after the hard reset (and choosing personal) and having it do all its stuff, first, remove/disable all O2 stuff from the today screen (start -> settings -> today -> remove all the o2 stuff in both tabs).
then start -> settings -> remove programs, remove all the o2 active VR stuff.
probably a message will pop up, noting some directories it doesn't remove. after removal is done, just go to file manager, and manually delete those directories.
seems to remove it for me =)
Mackster, you only get about five seconds to select the mode you want, if you don't do anything it will install personel mode as default - Why O2 insist on puting this rubish on there badged machines is beyond me - it makes a nice bit of kit into rubish, Ive had no problems since getting shut of it, even O2 support by phone will tell you to take it off as the first line for most queries - Mike
Paul, the thing I did was hard reset, and when it gives me a warning that programs will be installed in 3 seconds, I did a soft reset. After the soft reset, it won't try to install the programs anymore. I think this gives you the CLEANEST install.
When I did the Corporate setup, it still installed the PDF viewer, blah blah... I would like to control what I put in my PDA, even if they are useful programs. Hope this helps.

Sorry to dig this topic up, but I was looking for a solution and came up with one myself and thought I'd post it incase it comes in handy for anyone else.
Right, to disable the O2 Active UI from running...
Code:
Programs -> File Explorer
- Go to \Windows\Startup (make sure you have \ not \\ at the beginning if entering a path name)
- Delete the "connections" program
Soft Reset
This should stop the little O2 icon from appearing in the taskbar. For completeness, you'll probably want to stop any of the other O2 apps from running as well...
Code:
settings -> today -> items
- untick o2aui
- untick clockinfo
- untick o2BatteryPlugin
- OK
Soft Reset (to be sure)
Personally, I like the battery plugin, because its actually quite practical. Anyway, if you want to completely remove the software, do as follows...
Code:
Programs -> File Explorer
- Go to \Windows\Fonts
- Delete or rename the xpdr_02 (font) file
Settings -> System -> Remove Programs
- Select the O2 active UI from the list and click remove.
The UI should now be removed. It will probably tell you that it was successful, though some directories remain. You can delete them manually if you wish, but they shouldn't matter.
If you need/want to re-install the O2 software, you can do so from the software CD provided with the XDA, or it may be still available from the add/remove programs menu in ActiveSync.
You'll have probably noticed there's quite a lot of programs in the \Windows\Startup folder. I'm not sure what all of them do, but I bet you can get better start up times by removing some of them. Be careful though!
Enjoy
Thankyou to all that helped me out.
Many thanks
Paul

remove O2aui
Hi there,
I have seen so many clever hints how to successfully remove the O2aui from the device that I wonder what's wrong with simply goint to settings/system/remove programs and remove Mobile Solutions SRL O2ActiveUI v... ?
Would this remove more functions that I actually need?
Thanks for your comments.
Cheers

You guys are amazing.
That company HCT should put you people on a permanent retainer.
I can testify that 0506 works to stop the O2 interface program being installed.
My XDA is now O2-free, and my lady's XDA is running an Orange Pay-as-you-go card.
As good as we think the XDA is, it would be nowhere near as good without this board and forum. The only problem we have had is actually finding the tricks to use.
A sticky or a permanent post would be most helpful. You folks all know how to do things like Hard Re-sets and have forgotten the time when you didn't. Just those two simple things... a hard re-set and that 0506 trick... have profoundly enhanced my use and experience of my XDA.
BTW in case anyone is thinking of buying one, we got a Stowaway Portable Keyboard with one of our XDAs, and we think it's pretty good. You have to remember to turn off the IRD when you want to use the keyboard, but aside from that, it was a good addition for us.

I know I'm going to be beaten for asking a question that surely has been answered somewhere in here, but I've searched extensively and can't find my answer. The WM 6 upgrade I used doesn't include an option to acquire date/time info from my carrier/network (AT&T, US). I've found many WM6 versions where this ability has been cooked in, but is there a stand-alone file I can download to add this functionality to the WM6 version I currently run?
Thanks.
download any tweak cabs (like pimp my black, tweakui) and check the "timezone" box, soft reset
goto your network settings > timezone tab > check the box.
Can't find it either.

I'm with you, I can't find it either. I can find the option to have the time zone change automatically but not to acquire the date/time info from my carrier.
This involves 2 registry changes...
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL\NITZEnable=dword:00000001]
and
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM\PhoneSetting\ShowNITZPage=dword:00000001]
Attached is a small cab that has those entries.
(These are also included in my personal WM6 tweak cab in my signature.)
Enjoy.
Thank You Soooo much!
many thanks Dr. P
been lookin for this, thanks
The problem I've found with enabling the time and time/zone update is that it doesn't work problem on the 3 network in Sydney, Australia. Instead of going to GMT + 10 Sydney, it always goes to GMT +10 Vladivostok !!
Unfortunately this messes up appointments and puts the clock an hour out because it seems to think it's in daylight saving...
Can't blame the 3 network though because it updates ok on other non-windows mobile phones.

Hi,
I am having issues with my device and i am with 3 Australia.....and it keeps changing from Sydney to Vladivostok every now and then.....how do i keep it in Sydney?.....do i need to untick the timezone in network settings?.....thanks in advance
I have recently flashed my Stock Telstra ROM on my Desire with the Modaco Custom ROM r3.1. The only issue I have now is that in 'Settings' under Language & Keyboard > Set Locale there is now no option for "English (Australia)".
This doesn't worry me too much, however the Australian standard for mobile number formatting has changed and I was hoping that there might be a hack to change it? For example a mobile number is now displayed as 041-222-2222 where as they would used to be displayed as 0412-222-222 or without the hyphens.
Is it possible to change a system file or something that can fix this up?
Cheers
Greg
I think you can use Morelocale to change your locale to Australia, should be available in the Market.
You can manually add spaces and hyphens in phone numbers. Depending on how many numbers you have and how much it annoys you it might be worth your while.
Hi guys,
sorry to bother you guys but i have got a small problem...
I did a hard reset and installed all the HTC updates including the enhance the stability of sms update...
Now everytime i send a message, on the top of my screen (where the battery icon, clock are) a new icon appears...
If i click it a message appears with the message: message was sent successfully ...
I don't want to get this message... it's annoying when you have to send multiple messages...
I tried searching in the messages settings and the notification settings but can't find it... anyone an idea?
Advanced Configuration Tool will take care of that for you, as well as many other things.
i found a cab that solved the problem...
Just installed it, messages gone
Thx for the intel anyway
So question - what cab did you install? I've tried using Advanced Config Tool - but even on "disabled" mode for this feature it still happens! (Stock 6.5 ROM, unlocked, UK, TP2).
Thanks as this is driving me nuts,
Adam.
Advance toolkit did not work on my verizon tp2 either there is a cab file called "Updated Disable Verizon Message Sent Popup" or something similar (I have 3 different ones) Find that, install the cab and RESTART THE PHONE. (if you don't restart the phone it will still do it and you'll think the cab did not work but it does.)
hi noob sneak
what cab was that i have triued all the above to get rid of this notification.
since i installed all the HTC updates including the enhance the stability of sms update..
even tried the Updated Disable Verizon Message Sent Popup
Please, tell us what cab you used because i REALLY HATE that DAMN STUPID useless notification!
This cab works fine....used it for my roms....
Regards,
WC
Thanks WildChild - worked for me where nothing else had (Stock UK WM6.5 TP2). What registry values does it change or what does it do?
Adam.
thanks WildChild- installed and worked straight away not even a reboot.
was doing my head in
I love you man, that stupid notification is ungodly annoying!
