SO whens the next blue angle coming out? I have seen any rumors on a phone like the blue angle(big screen, keyboard). Is it a discounted model? It seem that HTC is making different models. I live the wizard, but the screen is too small for me.
Have you guys seen anything?
actualy HTC Universal is descendant to Blue Angel ... but it cannot be treated so strictly .... I think the best combination of all will be HTC Hermes. The screen will be a bit smaller but it is still THE machine
The next BlueAngel? I think maybe, closest in form factor and yet WM5 would be the Sharp W-Zero3

Sharp is very cool, but only for Japan and wont work anywhere else.
I dont like the wizard, its too small. My phone is dieing! Im missing keys. Its totally overused(1year and 8months old!). Time for a new one, but I dont like anything thats out. I just want the Blueangle that slides its keyboard out from the side. bigger keyborad, same size, but thinner.
but it looks like nothing is on its way.....
If you want a keyboard, its the small wizard or the huge Universal. nothing in the middle............
Check it out - HERMES + HTC Killers

They are amazing....
I dont they they are manufactured by HTC.
The Ultimate 7150 https://www.clubimate.com/ultimate/ult7150.htm
has a 3.8" display, Notebook form factor, 110mm x 74mm x 18mm

yeah awesome... but no builtin GPS
by Techfaith Wireless, but completetly designed by i-mate in house. It wud b nice to see them in hand and how they perform
if they are anything like the jaq, they are crap (which was the first i-mate designed device), if they are anything like the jaq3, they are big and feature poor.... the processor power looks nice tho.

7150 is 18mm thick? wow!
I'd like to see more pictures and maybe some reviews before I'd label this a Hermes killer... But I agree that they're cool as hell!
any ideas on the expected release dates? i couldnt find it anywhere on their site
You'll find more info here:
http://msmobiles.com/news.php/6097.html
After looking at different pictures of the 7150 got a few questions:-
1) The external OLED will it display the Caller ID something I really missed in the universal.
2) When the lid is closed how do we answer or reject calls. On the pictures I don't seem to notice the call reject and accept buttons on the outside. I don't believe that we will have to open the lid to manage a call.
3) Still confused who is the real manufacturer of this series. Of course it is designed by I-mate but who actually manufactures it. One of the posts in this thread says it is Techfaithwireless but msmobiles says it is Arima. Also there are some which say it is Inventec.
4) The colour appears to be a mild champagne gold and the casing seems to be made of metal. Any views.
Regards
Noticed on the specs that the screen is VGA 262k colours. Does that mean WM6 can display that many colours as opposed to WM5 which only displays 65k?
I imagine that Hermes screen can display 262k but restricted by the OS to 65k .

thats interesting as the imate site and the FCC filings say nothing about a Builtin GPS...
Hmmm.....Trying to find a reason not to have buyer's remorse. Ah! No 3G mentioned.
Re metal case? Probably not. Wouldn't that interfere with radio reception?

EDIT// Had my coffee and reread. HSDPA is in there, of course! Duh!

Where did you find a picture of the outside? I can only find the one picture copied everywhere (of the device open).
what an ugly phone
gee you would think they put some thought into how it looks, the colour alone puts me right off
Sorry, I absolutely cannot trace where I saw those pictures and there was not just one picture rather quite a few of them even showing the OLED.
Just thinking there is a black strip on the outside cover running off-center across the length. My guess is that the call accept/end buttons must be in there.
Will do a google to see if I can relocate those pictures

Just a word of caution though. I am being able to open this site through the opera mini browser installed on my hermes but not through PIE or Netfront.

SICK of viral marketing
I've posted a similar message earlier today... and I do this again... I am sick-sick-sick of these ridiculious viral campaigns...
I aint an insider on anything, but the 7150 looks like a prime case of vaporware.
take a look....
http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=721
It was slated for a April launch... now it's June release...
No working models reviewed, 3 month after announcement...
Only pictures out are the same screen, with 11:13 inside and 13:36 on external
Yes, I-mate is "officially" talking about the product... i am not impressed
this gives me bad flashbacks of the Moto MPx (true collectors piece now )
opinions?
(i-mate- PROVE ME WRONG!)
hmm they have usb 2
Im not sure the hermes does it it does it only runs at a meesly 10mbit due to how it connects.
they look interesting though,
probably a good thing for HTC to have some competition, as they have a bit of a monopoly at the moment, maybe they will spend more on R&D.
So it can only be a good thing.
They look like some of the old ASUS prototypes, I wonder if they are made by asus?

Heh its using an OLED screen :O

Hey folks,
I was just wondering which phone was overall better?
I know the Xperia X1 has:
Panels
Hardspl
3.5mm headphone jack
Optical joypad
However, the touch pro 2 has:
Much bigger screen
Better speakers
Much better keyboard with screen tilt
A little bit more ram
Moreover, both phones have:
Same 520 mhz processor
Same apps in a sense
1500mAh battery
So what do you guys think is the better phone and explain why? Which one would you folks choose?
it's about 2 new threads in a week, with same queston.... try using search
here it is > http://forum.xda-developers.com/search.php
I think you've answered your question yourself. But being a Xperia user and also having fiddled with HTC pro2 for a few hours... my verdict is that if you can live without a digital scroll pad then HTC wins at every front. Panels are nothing to be jumping with joy about and within a week of careful use my Xperia looks like a weathered out 1 year old phone. The battery cover plate started getting scratched and metal base started showing through its edges the very day i bought it. Sony Ericsson should be ashamed of such cheap materials on one of the most expensive phones in the market. But hey... they're known for being shameless and giving a hoot to customers and value addition.
yeah i was drooling for a tp2 pro but i was kind of turned off with the lack of the scroll pad.
Is this a theme or an application?
I have decided to go Rhodium (TP2).
The things I base my decision on is:
1. The bigger screen on the Rhodium makes document reading, editing, Internet browsing etc better.
2. WM 6.5 is supported officially with new drivers from HTC. Sony Ericsson seems to have abandoned the X1.
3. A better keyboard.
4. The HTC RC-E100 remote control works with the Rhodium.
5. TV-out.
6. G sensor - the ability to measure acceleration and so on.
7. My X1 has the "classic crack" in the battery compartment near the volume control.
8. The screen tilt makes Rhodium to a better replacement for the Nokia E90.
tp2 tbh its the best choice in quality
1 ive owned 4 x1 and not that i wanted that, they cracked
2 screen and touch screen is way better than the x1
but if the x1 was good quality i would have stayed with my x1
why
well the x1 is more a phone that can do anything you want and the tp2 is more a pda that can call its to big and the power button is on the wrong side
everytime i want too type i push my screen off
Could someone take pictures with both phones so we can see the sizes.
like front pictures and side pictures to compare. the TP2 is much bigger than xperia but i like to see it.
I like the x1, it looks more like a phone that looks nice. i love the design of x1. it fits perfectly in my hand, not to big not to small.
X1 is much lighter than Tp2 and has a longer battery life. And the x1 has panels that i also love espacily the multimedia panel fore listning music.
this is the first Wm device from SE and i must say they have done a great job. ofcourse not every phone is perfect and have its faults.
And people don't forget the x1 is made by htc.
some functionalitys of TP2 is to much, like TV out you gonna use it in the beginning to impress ur friends but after a month orso you never gonna look at it anymore.
the only possitief thing i could find on TF2 was the screen size.
and am i the only one that likes the x1. i couldnt understand that people have cracks on theire x1. i used it fore 7 months till i got my first crack and that was because my phone fell very hard, every phone would had a crack if it fell down like that but the phone survived.
Ofcourse SE is very slow with updates that it looks like they abbondend use but you can't be sure. if they had abbondend use there wouldnt be R3 Firmwares. Fore now the R3 is fast an d responsive maybe there would be a new firmware when Wm6.5 comes out.
X1 looks coooooller than tp2 XD
anyway, tp2 is better choice good luck*
Because I want a phone which can put in my pocket then TP2 is too big for me, X1 is perfect, just the crack is disturbing, as long as U can live with the crack X1 is perfect (of course leave that original ROM, throw out the dam panels is useless, use the custom ROM, who our xda friends create to us)
Guys i just had a sneak preview of TP2 and i was impressed with the design and the body of the mobile. It has a very metallic back which gives it a sturdy look. Overall i would prefer TP2 for its bigger screen and metallic lookalike.

No you aint the only one. People just like newer stuff, but the SE X1 is doing just fine especially with the fine people of XDA-Devs putting out the latest builds of WM6.51. In regards to the TP2, the screen size is larger, but how can that compare to the loss of a d-pad. The d-pad is what is needed to ensure that the largest application library for Mobile devices (Win CE of course ) is supported.
I would stick with the Xperia if you had to. Or wait till WM 7 devices next year. All I know is even though I love my Xperia, I will never buy another Qualcomm device again. Tegra all the way.....

Thnx
with people wanting newer phones isn't the phones fault but the OS. most think if they get a new phone that it will be faster. but i'm using wm for years now and i must say the OS is really really slow. the speed difference between htc touch(elf) and the xperia isn't that much its a little bit faster.
for the screen a bigger screen is always nice but i think its only has affect if its 6 inch. not the little 0.6 inch bigger if you say you want to watch movies witch you phone the battery life won't less a full movie if it does it won't less the day. its nice fore visiting websites but how long or how many sites do you u visit its only more battery usage. the battery life on wm phones is already a day. Why do people want a bigger screen, 3 inch is really enough. thats the biggest difference between these two. they have the same cpu the same ram/rom. adn if you look at these two links at gsmarena. they say the battery life of xperia is slight better than TP2.

the reason why i choosed xperia was the size its was not too big almost the same size as te SE k800. it has a neat design and it has a keyboard. i used a lot of pones en the xperia is on of the best phones i used till now.

Does anyone have Tilt2 and HTC Touch Pro2 so you can compare the screen between the two.
I have HTC Touch Pro2 and just got a Tilt2. The screen coloring and contrast on Tilt2 is not as nice as Touch Pro2. The whites seem like they have a shade of blue, if you view the phones side by side on different angles the Touch Pro2 is much nicer again and the coloring seems off too. TF3D coloring does not look as rich or the right coloring on Tilt2 when compared to Touch Pro2.
HTC responded to my article on HTCPeida.com and admitted that the screens were different:
"Indeed, the Tilt 2 does have a slightly different screen from other Touch Pro2 models – the performance is identical, but while the color looks close to identical when looking straight (or nearly straight) on, this screen does have a bit more color shift than other Touch Pro2 models when viewed at a more severe angle. But, it is important to note that this isn’t a defect or problem with the code – it’s simply a result of the specific screen being used in the Tilt 2.
To be honest, when you aren’t comparing it side by side with another Touch Pro2, you’d never notice, but it does become a bit more apparent when you look at two devices next to one another. "
Um.. screens are 100% the same.. maybe you got a defective Tilt2

Crappy video, taking with old digital cam but you can see the difference in screens. Both are flashed with identical ROM and clean install of ROM.
My wife and I bought Treo 680's at the same time a few years ago and hers was noticeably bluer than mine. Day to day use of it you wouldn't notice it, but side by side mine looked whiter.
I suspect variations in manufacturing in the LCD or perhaps even some of the other layers on top of the LCD.

I have the Telstra TP2 and the tilt 2 side by side with same ROM in each and the Tilt 2 is definitely not as sharp as the TP2, it does seems to be a little more "blue". The blacks in the TP2 are more black and the white is more white.
Before I had my Tilt 2 I had a EUR touch pro 2 and the Telstra TP2 and the EUR and the Telstra TP2 were much closer in color, if fact I was not able to tell very much difference at all.

This is true you can take any two phones by the same company and compare them and the screens will be a little different, if you never place the EUR or Telstra next to the tilt 2 you would never know because both phones are very good quality. But in this case looking at photos I shot with another camera and put them into both phones the TP2 was much better than the Tilt 2

I have my AT&T ROM up. Keyboard works fine but for the OK key and you can use a small app to remap the OK key.
The AT&T ROMs have PTT, Video share, dialer and softkeyboard from AT&T ROM. I will have an updated version in a day or two.
Sorry to ruin your day but out of the Tilt2, HTC TP2 and T-Mobile TP2 the Tilt2 has the worst screen.
I had to AT&T Tilt's and one had a nicer screen than the other (whiter wights and brighter). I think sometimes the screen can very from device to device. It bothered me a bit at first but I learned to live with it.
I love the screen on my Tilt2, but this concept bothered me a lot. I just got back from a Verizon Wireless store.
I compared both side by side, I *think* you are correct that the VZW is slightly crisper.
But walking outside, looking again at my Tilt2 screen, I dont really have any issue with it at all. I dont see any tinge of blueishness in the white.
Its by far the best screen on a phone I've seen

Would be nice to merge threads so one with all model comparatives

On my third Tilt2 and all have had the same problems with screen. Waiting for freind to come by with her nice camera so we can get some good shots showing the difference.
For those still waiting on the Tilt2 I would hold off on it for a bit.
My Fuzes are bluer than my Tilt2. And I can say this for sure... my 2 Tilt2's are crisp and white. Must be a bum batch or something...

BTW, I had the same issue with tilt 1, My buddies screen was hyper white and mine has a blueish darker hue to it. But if you dont look at them side by side on a daily basis you soon forget and all is well.

At0mAng,
Thanks for posting this information with pictures. I received my tilt 2 yesterday evening. After reading this thread, I checked my phone, and had the same issue. This evening I went to two stores, and in one of the store, there where two phone on display and both had the same issue. So I didn't wanted to replace my phone at this store, so I went to a different store, after telling the issue, the sales person, started a new phone and to my surprise, even that had the same problem. So I came back with my phone with out replacing it. I am still waiting to replace it, before I flash the HardSPL and the custom ROM.
Is this normal for the tilt 2? I think we should check the serial number or something to identify with out starting the phone. Is it possible to find which batch don't have this issue?
Thanks
Maybe it is all the AT&T bloatware sucking power from the backlight....
this has been documented
it speaks about this issue in this article here. http://www.wmexperts.com/touch-pro-2-head-head-head-head
Sorry att users like being said just put up with it.
loving my TMOUS TP2
So I've done some basic research on phone components out there that could truly create an AMAZING WP7 phone, while still staying within realistic terms, and here's what I've come up with (I'm giving explanations for each aspect in parentheses):
The ultimate WP7 would be a 4.7in (Can still fit in your pocket comfortably, while giving you a perfect view of the 1080P definition of your screen) HTC Touch Pro 3 (because its predecessor truly is the best combination of practicality and entertainment) with a dual-core 1.5ghz snapdragon processor (It has a release date set for Q4 2010, but will probably be moved to Q1 2011), 1024mb RAM (It's very rare to find a phone with this spec, but it is by no means unrealistic), a fourth chassis spec for a physical gamepad along with the physical keyboard with tilt (the actual keyboard would slide down, and the game pad would appear on the left and right of the screen by separation of the landscape physical keyboard while it's not in a slide down position, with an analog stick on the left, and four action keys on the right (Definitely the most unrealistic part of this phone description )), a 12 megapixel camera (nothing new in a phone) with HD video, 64 GB of Micro SD enabled (...), and at least 6 hours of talk time along with 48 hours standby (with the dual-core of the snapdragon processor users can expect a significant reduction in battery consumption since the cores are independent of each other) all on the Windows Phone 7 UI.
It’s a mouthful, but it’s almost enough to bring tears to my eyes… lol not really, but just make the phone HTC, and significantly loosen your hardware requirements Microsoft
Do you guys have a different definition of what makes the ultimate WP7 phone?
4.7in!
Thats insain, the HD2 is considered large enough (if not slight too big) 4 would surfice
dual 1.5Ghz snap dragon? really, since smartphones are working away from multitasking due to instability issues its unlikely to make much of a difference, but will happily take the core reduction and lower power consumption! 1080p is an insainly high res as well, im sure it will look good as an advertising milestone but with such high DPI i think you'll find it hard to tell the difference between 720p and 1080p infact i believe you would need to have your device 6inchs from your eyes to see 1080p at standard DPI, to detect the differences when you take in to account the significantly higher DPI you would need to have the phone on the end of your nose, viewing angles would require the device to be nearer 10inchs. not that id turn it down but its not a big deal
what i want is a 45nm 1.5ghz snapdragon, ~4in display using 65k or 16m bit depth, no more than 8mp camera, (12 on such as small lens would be **** or at best no improvment) a propper graphics core with its drivers!
Ill stick with the gig of RAM but suggest an internal 64GB storage and a SD expansion, multiband support so i can make it work everywhere! 4G would be handy if networks ever upgrade, everything else can be the same as the HD2 because that is the king just now! oh, you can keep your keyboard but what would be cool is a docking station that projects a keyboard on to a table
as for the OS, well to be honest unless the Gods on here unlock WP7 ill keep my 6.5.5

I've held the Droid X in my hand and the biggest downside to that phone, I see, is the size. Its huge!
Also, 4.7 inches just to view 1080p? With many 32" TVs out there you can't tell the difference between 1080p and 720p. With that in mind, 720p HD resolution won't make more difference than an SD video so you can be sure that 1080p won't be anything more than a selling point.

I think the important part would be how well it records... Also, if I don't have to do any converting so it plays on a given device then all the better - even if it's not really usable on the phone. I may hook the phone up to a friends TV while visiting. So, there is potential for use, even beyond a selling point.

MS isn't allowing 3rd-party multi-tasking at this time, but will do it with stock parts of the OS - so even if there isn't support for other programs you'll still use it (but I'm willing to bet that there will be support at some time).
The ARM spec that the chip is based on includes the 4G component. You'll probably need a provider patch / software update, but it's in the 1.5 GHz dual core snapdragon.
The GPU is also in there, and although not as good as others I've read about, still is nothing to scoff at
For me though, the bigger the better when it comes to the screen. I'm looking for an all-in-one device that goes everywhere. If I need a better camera, I'll grab mine. A better video camera, I'll grab mine. A better portable computer, I'll grab mine. But my next phone will certainly be my GPS, Music Player, and of course, phone.
I also like the slide out keyboard, if for no other reason than no wasted screen real estate.

what would be cool is a docking station that projects a keyboard on to a table

That would be a pretty sweet deal, but I think we're looking at at least 2020 for projection keyboards

Actually, there are projection keyboards out now and they've been around since the beginning of this decade. All though I'm not sure how good this technology is now.

Are you serious? So you mean I can actually sit down with my computer and if I have the proper platform I could type on a projected keyboard that would disappear when I turned off the platform? Because that would be pretty amazing.
Yep, the keyboards that are outthere emit a light onto the surface and via infrared, "feels" your touch of the projected key just llike hitting an actual keyboard. Find online...
I'd like to have a 4" device with a landscape 5 row querty keyboard, a touch pro 3 but bigger then the current touch pro2 and thinner. As far as the internal go, I'd love to have high end but I'll settle with the base seeing how everythings going to be performanced based on that.

Now that is very intresting...hmm i wonder how it feels not to have any key feedback, need to look in to that, i can see a bluetooth projector for computers and PDAs being hugely useful...asuming it works that is!

Yeah, but I wouldn't want to buy into this technology until it evolves so that the user can also feel the touch of the keys of the projected keyboard. And I'm not talking about a simple vibration, I would actually want to feel as if I'm typing on a real keyboard. That type of technology will definitely not be available until at least 2018
Check out
the specs for the new HTC HD3, sounds perfect to me! Can't wait to get my hands on one...

Awwwwhhh, I thought it said DUAL-CORE 1.5 ghz processor, that almost made me want to buy the phone, even though it lacks a physical keyboard with tilt (Which is a MAJOR dealbreaker for me)
Besides what is up with all of these HTC HD promotions, how come there are no Touch Pro 3 announcements. HTC is being very narrowminded not promoting a phone that could actually distinguish itself from the iphone in terms of hardware (and I'm talking about more than just a bigger screen...)
I just
love the big screen, with the screen even bigger it's got my wallet! Just not sure about this new windows 7...hopefully we get to test it somehow before purchasing.

2nd that
specs etc...don't care...wp7 should run smoothly on any device running wp7...
i'm being cpt. obvious
I'm a writer. I write about cell phones. I've used all of the WP7 phones. The best one is the Samsung Focus. That's my opinion. It has by far the best display. the right size screen and the best form factor. It's well made despite the rap that it's plastic. The plastic on this phone and the build quality are excellent. The HD7 is heavy. The start button is awkward and the display is pitiful. The HTC Surround is bulky, housing a speaker that virtually nobody uses. The LG Optimus is a nice phone, but it's heavy and small. The screen is narrow. The HTC Mozart is very nice. It's smaller and the display is nowhere near the Focus. It has a better camera than the others. This is my take. I've had several takes on all of them. The Focus wins.

Really, I don't find the HD7 heavy at all. Matter of fact, I would say a couple of inches more than the HD7 would make the perfect phone!

I agree, I find the heft to be reassuring, not overly heavy. But I've also had the tp2 and hd2.
