Hi All,
I've seen some pretty interesting ROM Development stuff here... WOW, impressive.
Yesterday I finally got me a Diamond and would like to tweak it here and there. But before all af this I want to take a backup with Spb Backup 2.0 that I purchased some time ago to safekeep the data on my Cruise.
Here's my question: when I flash the new Diamond after I backed it up, will I be able to reinstall the original ROM with the (Spb 2.0) backup that I took?
Just in case, you never know if something goes wrong and I have to bring the phone back for repair (as I actually had to do with all my HTC's so far)
Thanks for your replies!
Cheers guys
Hi Guys,
One thing I would like to know, before flashing a new ROM can I somehow save/backup my complete ROM so that I am able to restore it when I am not satisfied?
Not PIMBackup - complete ROM
Thanks,
Boris03
No save it, but if you look you will probably find the original ROM that you had on your phone somewhere around here.
But once you have used a cooked ROM, you wont want to go back .
I think he means after he has tweaked it and put his own apps on. Takes me nearly an hour and countless soft-resets to get it how i want it!
Is there a way to copy our ROMs once we have them how we want em?
happy new year guys! and today is my birthday too, I am very happy !!
yesterday I finished flashing YuE's rom again and installed all the cabs and registered all my programs and tweaked the device, now i have the best Artemis in the word...
my question is:
can I convert the current phone status with all programs into a rom so that i can flash it back again after trying another new rom?
thank you
no one has an answer?!
so i guess it cant be done!!
use a program like spb backup or sprite-backup to get a full system-backup... whenever your device stucks, you can restore all your programs and settings
About to flash my first new ROM on my USA T-Mobile TP2.
I've chosen the EnergyROM_23504_RHODIUM_08.Nov.2009_Standard as it appears to be getting good reviews.
My main concern though, having already installed so many extra programs, is can I still do a restore (using SPB Backup) from a backup I made on the stock T-Mobile 6.1 ROM? I would assume not, but man would it be nice if I could!
Please advise. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Jeff
You should not loose any data by trying. If it does not work then flash back to a 6.1 ROM. Another thing to try is by using the new free Microsoft program "my mobile" (I think that is what it is called, not by my device) before flashing back to a 6.5 ROM. The Microsoft backup does work when going to upgrade versions of the OS.
P.S. I am assuming that you are going from 6.1 to 6.5. If it is the same OS version then before, you should have no problems
SPB 2 has a "ROM Upgrade" mode. It should work. Sometimes a program or two may be finicky though.
Thanks to you both. I'll give it a go and report back on how it went.

Just to close this out - I decided not to try, since I figured the only apps I really even needed to reinstall were Resoe Explorer (like the finger-friendliness of it), TV Guide, and CorePlayer.
Figured it'd keep it nice and clean to just reinstall them, which only took a couple minutes anyways.
Thanks for the help though!
Got another refurb coming for my Verizon Touch Pro.
I finally have the ROM the way I want it (MightyMike's Final) and I have a ton of apps installed and customization's and Garmin XT etc....
Is there a way to copy the entire Phone into a Rom and then flash it to the new phone after the SPL unlock so I don't have to go back through hours of reinstalls?
google spb backup that should fix ya right up.
