can I convert current phone & SD memory into a rom? - P3300, MDA Compact III General

happy new year guys! and today is my birthday too, I am very happy !!
yesterday I finished flashing YuE's rom again and installed all the cabs and registered all my programs and tweaked the device, now i have the best Artemis in the word...
my question is:
can I convert the current phone status with all programs into a rom so that i can flash it back again after trying another new rom?
thank you

no one has an answer?!
so i guess it cant be done!!

use a program like spb backup or sprite-backup to get a full system-backup... whenever your device stucks, you can restore all your programs and settings

Upgrading Rom for the Wallaby(XDA 1)?

Rom solution
Hi,
I went to this link: http://lumpistefan.dyndns.org/ and it did the trick for my XDA I. I hope this helps you. Cheers.
Shane
Thanks Shane for the infos.
BTW will it 'alter' our GPRS setting and other softwares which suppose to make our Wallaby move? What i trying to ask is will it bonk our set blank. As i am quite new in doing the ROM upgrading work, I am kinda worry if things dun goes well, the set may got it self cook and send to rubbish dump..
New Rom
Hi,
When you cook your own Rom and run it on your device, it will do a hard reset on your device thus altering the settings on your OS and the gsm radio. However, you can backup everything using Sprite backup software. You can download it from the XDA FTP site or from the web. What this will do is backup your settings and programs and it will fill in the blanks when you restore your sprite backup file over your newly cooked Rom. I always make a backup of my device before I do anything with upgrading, cooking, or any kind of Rom flashing. Once you radio rom is reflashed, you can always go back in and manualy set everything back up on your gprs settings. Good luck with you upgrading and I hope your device runs like a champ .
Shane
Thanks alot Shane. I am downloading the ROM now. But the PPC 2002 is telling me that it can't find the ROM image. And the PPC 2003 is like hanging down there for ages waiting to be completely downloaded....now still trying hard.
XDA Rom
What you need is this: http://cuba.calyx.nl/~jsummers/XDA/XDAtools-Jeff.exe . Once you get the rom file you want, you can use this to load the rom file on an sd card via card reader from your desktop and then you put the sd card in your device and do a soft reset. 5 minutes later.... PRESTO, your device is loaded and then you can run your sprite backup file over it and restore your settings and stuff over your new rom or just reinstall your Apps and programs and start fresh. Here is another link with more information about flashing your XDA with the tools:

How to Backup my ROM (HTC TyTn)

Hi, i know this maybe on other threads but i cant findit, yesturday my phone speaker stop working, my phone have warranty, AT&T send me a new 8525, but my problem is that i have to many things on my old phone that i dont remember all (diferent hacks and program fix that i spend long nights working) i whant to backup my rom with all the programs and setings to install it on my new phone, i have to send the old phone ASAP, please can someone help me. THANKS.
You can use Sprite Backup that has a feature of backing up ROM or Full backup. Or you can use SPB Backup. Both are good and will do your task.
And were can i download this programs?????
try spb image my friend
And were can i download this programs?????
OK my friends i locate this programs but they are to backup DATA on my PDA and i want to backup my ROM and create a RUU to install my rom on my new phone.
Sprite and SPB Backup both back up your settings, documents, programs (if they are in device memory) - all the data on your phone except the ROM. Dumping your ROM and then coming back and trying to create a RUU from it is going to be a pain the... well, it is unnecessarily difficult.
First, use one of the programs above and do a full backup. Then, when you get your phone back, flash the same ROM you are using now and then restore from your backup. You will achieve the same result with much less trouble.
Is there some reason you MUST back up your ROM? Is it one of a kind?
Ok but i cant find this programs that works with WM6, i download them but i am getting error when try to backup.

How to return to original WM6 rom?

Hi, i am a newbie. Read about ROM ....
May like to know if i installed a new ROM, like MARY xx.xx.xxx etc.
If i don't like it, am i able to uninstall and use back my original WM6?
Is it just uninstall from the Add/Remove Programe folder, then it will return to WM6, or do i need to download & reinstall the official WM6?
Thanks
You will have to reflash the original rom.. The roms you find in here are not addons, they are full operating system almost like the one you have on youre computer. Windows mobile roms are adapted to the hardware inside youre phone, so you must be sure you got the right one

1.) There is NO official WM6 rom for the htc P3600
2.) You can choose an other rom from the "Trinity Mobile 6" thread
3.) When you flash your device with a new rom every data will be deleted (contacts, messages ...), except data on the storage card.
But you can make a backup with PPCPimBackup and restore them.
br, chris
i would suggest you read up the guides prior to flashing to any cooked rom.
http://trinityguides.info/index.php?option=com_content&task=category&sectionid=4&id=31&Itemid=66
you will need to read the following:
1. Trinity Upgrade Guide
2. Upgrade to Hard-SPL
3. Upgrade Radio
flashing to other rom may carry a risk. you need to be convinced to upgrade one.
about flashing back to original rom, simply install the official rom as per instruction, everything will be back to normal. good luck.
Thank you very much, for the information....
Good Day

Process for updating ROM etc

Hi
I have been using WM devices for a long time but have never actually changed my ROM before. However, I have decided that it is time to start!!! and I want to change to teh latest HTC Rom for my Diamond (Orange UK). I have read the various threads on this forum, but before I start would like confirmation that the process I should follow is as follows.
For info, I have decided to use the official 1.93 HTC ROM (I know that some of the swift/dutty ROMS appear better - but I think I would prefer to stick with an official ROM for my 1st time!!)
1. Download Hard SPL, ROM and Radio files
2. Backup data etc (settings also?) using sprite backup
3. Install Hard SPL
4. Install ROM
5. Install Radio
6. Use HTC settings tool to restore settings
7. Re-install data using Sprite backup
In case this goes wrong..... is there a version of the stock Orange ROM anywhere that I can always re-install?
Also, 1 last question..... given that my Orange Diamond has an HTC ROM (no customisation)..... am I right to assume that once I have updated the ROM I will not lose anything (e.g. HTC apps/Opera etc) from my original ROM??
Thanks very much for your help
Rossy
You don't really need to update your radio if your handset is working fine.
You WILL need to reinstall your additional apps after a flash.
double post
7. and you might get big problem if you made a backup from a stock rom and put into a cooked rom, the registry get very messy. And vice versa if you made a backup from cooked rom and use that backup in a stock rom. So I adwise to make a backup..sure, but use it only with that rom you made the backup from!

By additional apps do you just mean non HTC things like TomTom etc
I assume Opera/google maps etc will be included with the HTC ROM?
Salut Rossy,
I'm thinking about doing the same, meaning flash my Orange Diamond with the latest official french ROM from HTC.
Actually Lommag made a dump of the Orange ROM here :

I didn't try it yet but let me know how things goes for you.
Good luck.

How to perform complete system backup/image?

Hello community,
first of all thanks for your great work here in this forum. I am using cooked roms in all my HTC (Universe, Kaiser, Trinity, Elf) but currently i am getting stucked with the question:
Is there a way i can backup a phone completely, meaning a complete dump of the ROM, contacts, messages, installed software etc etc...... So that I can try some other ROMs and in case i don't like them that i just can flash back the image and are 100% done.
I only found up till now that i need to dump my rom and in addition my software/contacts with e.g. SPB Backup.
Thanks in advance for every response.....
yeah, i was going to ask the same question...
Is that possible? Does anyone know it???
On one of the Poland boards about smartphones in Trinity section I've seen topic like this - one of the users made a full backup in SPB Backup in original 6.1 and restored it in one of the cooked roms, I think made by "great tomme45i" - he had errors, and he couldn't run his P3600. I think it's impossible to create backup with instaled appz, maybe it's impossible, but the roms have e.g. different languages - you install first WWE, then ITA rom. You can use PIM Backup and backup only PIM data - contacts, messages, tasks, calendar events.
Hi, for this purpose I am using Sprite Backup. It can backup everything so that when you test some ROMs and want to get back to original one you can then restore everything like it was before. It is not possible to make a full backup and then restore it on different ROM.
