Choice of Cooked ROM - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV ROM Development

Hi All,
I'm trying to find a ROM that's tweaked to have beter performance without giving up the standard user interface on my Diamond. Can anyone tell me what the best choice of ROM is and what the major differences are between the ROM's?
I want a ROM with TF3D, Google Maps and Youtube etc.

I use Dutty's V1.4. It's fast, reliable and has all the apps in you mention http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=411707.
V1.5 is due very soon, so it might be worth waiting for that as it fixes a YouTube bug

The problem with ROMs (official and cooked) is that not a single one of them is without bugs. I find this quite annoying actually because all I want is a rock solid ROM...but it's not out there.

This is a popular choice of ROM...
An well worth a donation for all the effects the Man puts in to providing these

Dutty For Me
im going to v1.4 when i get home today

Panoshas 0.8 is my poison.

Dutty's ROM's sure deserves credit, really. I love the man...

Agreed, which is why I've already donated to Diamond Project and Dutty

Best ive tried was the athena 0.8 from panosha.
Was the most stable, and with a good battery life.
But switched to my own, only removed the useless apps and apllied a lot of the tools which i use.
90% of the cooked roms have lots of bugs, useless tools, or else.

Any word from HTC about official Win 6.1 ROM?

Is there an official Win 6.1 ROM from HTC yet?
If this forum keeps pumping those roms at this rate I dont care if HTC can get their stuff together. HTC looks prety useless compared to ppl posting cooked roms here.

You don't understand subject of this threat, do you?
Its great people are cooking these roms and sharing them.
But, I just want a plain and simple official rom and install couple of progs I use myself..
Try the vanilla rom, its as close to official as you can get. I love official roms, there clean and stable but meschels vanilla rom is just as good. He doesnt mess, doesnt force his own tweaks on you, lets you do it.
Ive tried the B&B v5 rom but its over loaded with customizations and it runs way slow, compared to the official T-MObile wm6 rom. Vanilla is hella fast. Very smooth and optimized.

ARTEMIS VANILLA 4.01 WWE ROM - WM6.1 Final 5.2.19199 (SDHC)
For me this one is better than the any official rom.
Cheers.
The vanilla rom is also only realeased when it properly works!

Try Atermis Vanila Rom
It is plain and fast.
I wouldn't hold my breath waiting on an offical HTC WM6.1 update considering how long it took them to release WM6.
I'd guess that might have been down to SDHC licensing issues
AFAIK HTC have not released rom with sdhc support or have they?
So any rom they release are inferior to Marks new Vanilla rom.

[Q] HD-port vs diamond 2.00?

Ive seen a lot of developments on the first page pertaining to ported HD rom and the new diamond 2.00. For those who have experienced with both (I'm comfortable with 1.93 at the moment), which version seems to be better in terms of usability, stability and performance?
Thanks
I just flashed the 2.0 AFK WWE rom
and WOW, it blows the doors off of 1.9. been using it for a few hours now. haven't found any bugs/glitches. everything i've tested so far seems to work but have not installed anything other than advanced config.
no experience with touch HD port but i don't know how it could be faster than this
i'm using PistonRipper's lite 2.00 rom. It's great, it's stable, it's fast (manila is definitely faster than HD)
i've also tried Ct's 6.1 rom with HD manila but it isn't as responsive as the 2.00 rom (try pressing the Home button, on the 2.00 rom it's almost instant, on the HD you still have a small lag)
used a few hd till i moved to pistonrippers 2.00. wow! wee faster, and way more stable!
I tested several versions of both but still not happy, after a few days all start to give smal issues, like not ringing incoming call or alarm not working.
between both; HD roms look nice.
Where is the pistonrippers ROM? I can't seem to find it...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3024339&postcount=149
Best ROM?
Obviously, the best ROM is the one that suits your needs the best and the one you happen to like the best. Having said that, in answer to your question... I've tried about six different ROM's in as many days, some with ported HD Manila's, some with v1.97, some v2.0
In my opinion, for pure stability, speed, memory management, usability and everything working / displaying as it should - you can't beat Pistonrippers' version of the stock v2.00 test ROM... this is what it does to my face even now
Isn't the 2.00 still a beta? I'm waiting for the official release to try it out
Anyone hazard a guess on when that might be?
Good to know that there are people in HTC working on it even 6 months after the release.... (though this conversely means they weren't quite ready when they released it)
Beta?

Whether the v2.0 is a beta or not doesn't matter. It blows the socks of HTC's previously released ROM's... and in my opinion, a lot of the cooked ROM's as well. I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for HTC to slap a new ROM in your lap!
2.00
this beat's any hd ported rom hands .....IMO
trust me.....i have tried them all
friends,, what about duttys 3.6b vs 2.00? what do u say about?
Just tried 2.00 and Duttys 3.6b.. I went back to Duttys. Very stable and had the tools i use. Very close run thing.

My version 6 ROMs are all with the 2.00 base which is very stable and fast, the only diffrence is the manila. I have to agree the latest manila from the 2.00 ROM is very fast but it doesn't have stock like the ported HD manila....and I use it
Duttys 3.6b is as fast as 2.00, I played with 2.00 for a week and went back to duttys as there were a few things about 2.00 i wasnt happy with.

cheers
is there a source documenting the changes from 1.93 to 2.0? are there new features or only bug fixes? is there any information if htc will enhance the contacts app or the messaging app? this are the two main areas wm is lacking usability compared to other phone devices.

first of all, the speed of the 2.00 rom, its a lot faster and with the last manilla, its faster then any other diamond rom I tried, including the hd port..
it even comes close to the htc blackstone (HD), it reacts just as fast..
about the enhancements:
I found out that you can slide the email messages like in the touchflo3d with this rom..
if you click on a envelope in tf3d it opens the email, then you can slide to the following email by sliding to the left or right, never noticed this before? is it new in 2.00 rom ?
I'm not sure I have even tried 2.0
Does anyone know if Duttys V3.3 is based on a 1.9x or 2.0?

Hello.
I think a good one is by GXFX.He used yozgatg kitchen.yozgatg roms are very good also. But i think it's easy and i think you must try to cook one with yozgatg kitchen. It's very easy.i cooked mine and it's flying without consuming so much ram.Don't wait your diamond to behave like manilla 1.5.
i forgot donsalari(6.5 rom)
I have used this one for over a week without a wish to change (quite a record for me). Donsalari.
I believe it an ideal trade off between RAM and speed.

BEST ROM EVER: Gen.Y D2X R1.1 A/B
Look my signature
is there any good rom chef left here at diamond section beside mr. Yozgatg? he provide the sleek, eye-catchy & clean rom, manila v2.1, and the kitchen also!! he is one of the most amazing developer here at this forum. the others are tweaker, not a developer. including me.
that's my opinion.
rom 6.5 Clean Basic ROM SENSE 2.5(donsalari) vrery good,clean,fast...i think so.sorry because speak english
Hi I must still put in a good word for Donsalari.
I have used yozgatg's ROMs and fully agree that they are top class.
But, if you want 6.5 (which I do) and Sense 2.5 and still want RAM to run memory hungry programs (TomTOM, Opera etc) then at the present time Don's is the only one.
Just my tuppence worth.
Thanks Guys
I like Don salari very very much but it s not faster enough ...
maybe i should wait for 2.1 ..

You are right Donsalari are good ROMs but the lack speed of Energy roms or Yogtag..
I have tried almost all 6.5 roms out there.. Energy is the fastest, best looking rom out there, but than.. it's like a ferrari i can't afford with my resources
Overall the best .. Yogtag (no doubt)
The best ROM with sense is without any doubt the ROM of Kisja!
It's WM 6.1, but it's fast, stable, and almost bug free!

New to custom roms, looking for advice

Like the title says im new to all this custom rom stuff and looking for some insight on whats the best cooked rom for my tilt 2. ive been through 3 fuzes and now 2 of the tilt 2's so im no stranger to windows mobile. Just looking for some help. Thanks in advance
there are honestly thousands of threads with people asking for the best ROM. Here are some guidlines:
1) Best will be a personal opinion
2) Any Sense 2.5 ROM will be less responsive than Sense 2.1
3) Pick a rom that best suits your needs (eye candy, functionality, responsiveness, etc)
Go to the rom forum and sort by most posts, latest post, and most views to get an idea of what everyone else is using and what they like/dislike about it.
Also make sure you flash the correct SPL and Rom (GSM or CDMA).

thanks for the help! I guess i should have been more detailed on what i use my phone for. I text alot, talk of course, use the interned, the weather option, blue tooth and on occasion the wifi, i want something that responds well and is fast. Normally after about 90 days of using a WM phone the lag is just horrible. i just exchanged my phone through ATT for the above reasons. i want something that runs fast yet is stable at the same time.
I know i know i know, have my cake and eat it too to some extent lol

I would suggest going with the NRG Pheonix rom. A lot of people have that as their favorite and it seems to be very stable/speedy. Most of the newer Leo Sense 2.5 roms have slight messaging problems (especially with landscape mode). Never used it but you can rest assured that it is one of the better roms available.

[Q] Which ROM?!?! Totally unable to choose...

Hi all,
I'm a newbie of the Androids world. (and also in HTCs one).
I'm coming from the world of Nokia hacking and modding and here, with all the mods changed, I feel a bit (just not to say totally) lost.
I bought this week a new HTC Desire, I feel very happy and proud of my choice, the AMOLED screen is something superlative.
But, coming to my problem:
I discovered that to join the wifi hotspot in my university i need to set the proxy and other stuff which i can do only with root privilege and other apps, so I decided that is just arrived the time to f**k up the guarantee and install a rom one time for all, at the beginning so i must not reinstall many apps, settings and other stuffs.
I'm searching for a ROM which is the most possible similar to the original Sense FroYo that is now installed on the phone. But at the moment for me I think it's to hard to be able to recognize the differences between two ROMs, so...
Which is better for me to choose in the huge list of post #1 of the "Desire Index - Everything is here" thread?
Obviously it must have the root capabilities, ap2sd and..? (i'm totally ignorant in which are the starter-important mod)
thx for you help and sorry for my poor english..

LeeDroid! But I'm biased, been using it a couple of months and it rocks, full Sense ROM, A2SD+ (need an ext partition on your SD card for this), themeable, overclockable if you want. I've tried other but nothing has persuaded me to switch.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=773997
this one is all stock but for the root access, but if you root, why just go for the same as you got?
Invest a few bucks in titanium backup or mybackup pro and rom manager and try some of the top roms like AuraxTSense, LeeDroid, both with Sense as you know it, or Miui and OpenDesire which run alternative launchers.
There is never just flash one rom and be happy once you have set yor foot in here
By far the greatest of all is LeeDorid.Lots of good features and a lot of updates !
Modaco Custom ROM
Should be as good as Leedroid or even better in my opinion ;-)

MIUI 10.0.29 is honest to god stunning, its fast, overclockable, excellent batterylife and the whole UI is a nice overhaul. Its clean and everything has been designed for use, the system menu has been re-organized for the better making it easier and clearer to get to all options. They have also done things like add settings to the notification panel, added kintetic scrolling (so things bounce) FM radio re-skinned all major apps. The lockscreen has also been changed to a custom lockscreen which has quick access to phone and messaging, barring that i'd suggest trying DeFrost, he does good builds of CyanogenMod, or Cyanogen Mod 6.1 rc1. Not a huge fan of CM6, its seems as slow as sense roms on my phone. OD and DeFrost dont seem to suffer this issue however.
Mr favourite non-Miui rom is OpenDesire, theyr quick and dont come with bloatware r crap pre-installed, but Adam_g has been absent lately.
For 'sense' builds try leeDroid (imo bloated with tonnes of crap), Modaco Custom Rom (www.desire.modaco.com) or Alex-V sense rom. Theres also AuraxTSense but its hideous. Imo for a good sense rom try a modaco rom with a sense kernel such as vorkKernel, or 'HAVS 2.6.32 for Sense Roms V5' by richardtrip

CyanogenMOD is one of the fastest ROM and the one with the most fixes and updates! Dont say bad things about CyanogenMOD RomĀ“s !! Without him this Community would be nothing!
Sense or AOSP? Minimalist or Feature-Packed? Depends on your personal needs...
You could start with a rooted stock, after a week try Leedroid/RCmixHD/MIUI and next week CM6.
Or you just get DSIXDA's Kitchen, learn some ADB and Shell Stuff and make your own ROM.
Go for cyanogen to get the best android experience...
This post might fit better in the Desire Q and A and not the Development section mate
this is not a post for the development section, in future please reasd the forum rules before posting
I've tried Leedroid (SENSE) and DeFrost (NON-SENSE).
Both are really good but after some experience I've decided to stick with non sense ROMs. They are by far faster but that eventually comes at the price of some higher battery drain.
DeFrost FTW !
You must be thinking, i'll find the best and most popular one and i wont be flashing again in the next few months/weeks. You're wrong. You come here, you'll be flashing all roms as the clocks ticking.
I have tried all except MIUI and Defrost so far. and am sticking on OpenDesire for the longest AOSP rom and Modaco R8 for the sense ROM.
But my personal choice;
CyanogenMod : Be it Nightly, stable or RC, i love it to the core! Best AOSP rom ever. I tried them all and they are super fast! The reason i didnt use it currently because i waited for the stable 6.1. Hehe~~ Love the nightlies before RC1 got released though.
OpenDesire : The dev(AdamG) used to have minor updates almost everyday but now, very2 long time before an update, meaning it is at the most stable version now. and it is true cuz i didnt believe it at first( I used to use the older versions and it still have some bugs) but now it is the best for me. Best after CM(cant deny CM, they are the master here).
LeeDroid : Well i've tried all Sense roms already, and this seems the most stable and fast(though i found out it become slower over time, my fault for installing so many apps maybe). I used to love NeXTSense by Neo, but when it got changed to AuraxtSense, i jumped to Lee.
I'm sorry for posting in the wrong section, but i wasn't sure where to post in the different areas.
Well, you named different roms, but which are the differences (explained to a nearly-noob)?
I'm searching for something with the same interface of the normale roms, but purified from all the (in)utilities. In fact a clean and fast rom, in which THEN i decide what i like to install and personalize...
If I can make a representation, a roms with no apps which are not native (facebook, twitter, opera and all the others), but with only the things that you nedd as a basis for all the rest.
Lol the op will still have a hard time deciding. XD
The best way for you to choose which Rom to use is to download and test each one individually. Hope you get ORD btw
sent from the dark side
I'd like to test them all, but at the moment i'm under exams and for next 5 weeks don't have enough time to test anything.
so I was searching for a direct suggestion explaining what will change and what will not change..
If you want a rooted rom similar to your current one, why don't you just use unrevoked to root your current rom?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
MIUI! or Defrost!
If you want speed, then go for Cyanogenmod 6.1, DeFroST or OpenDesire. If you want a nice UI, too, you have to put a theme on it or use a Rom like RCMixHD, AuraxTSense or smth. like that.
a-ehm...are there ROMs that haven't been named yet? LOL

I'm meeting my girlfriend tomorrow, lets bring LeeDroid! and yeah i did it, i manage to test all features and stability while I'm in the bus travelling from my place to her(took 8 hours in the bus). i screwed up while playing around though, the phone didnt boot so i had to restore nandroid of my modaco R8 back...haha~~
This weekend is examination time(yeah seriously no joke), so last week i flashed OpenDesire. Now i'm still using it. done exploring it in a day though, and keeping it longer than i imagined since i love it.
Presentation week, damn it this week was very busy and i tried Cyanogenmod Nightly 149. Love it. but no themes for it so i flashes CM 6.0.2...but aah too many gallery crash for me so i'm back to OpenDesire.
Well those are my moments, you'll be done exploring in 2 days at max for a rom though. Be sure to test all primary function first before you begin to like them. I did all in a day only. shouldnt be too hard.
