ETEN X500+ running cooked WM 6.1 ROM from Lorbas.
After I upgraded to WM 6.1, I restored SMS messages with PIM Backup. No messages can be seem in the inbox or any other folder. If I try to send a SMS, it gets stuck forever in the Outbox (it is never sent). If I receive SMS, it nevers shows in the inbox.
If I change SMSAvailable in the registry from 1 to 0, everything works like a charm, but I loose SMS receipt notifications
I tried several registry tricks and nothing worked 100% yet. What I would like to have is to use the new threaded model, with notifications "on", and be able to send and/or receive SMS.
Any ideas?

I got the problem on SMS "Inbox" messaging. I can not see any incoming SMS in Inbox. But Today still show i have some unread messages.
I happened after I restored database from spritebackup. What should i do?
I have an Orange SPV M2000 that's been working fine for ages. On Saturday, the battery came off in my pocket, and the thing reset itself. Bit of a pain, but i simply reran my Sprite backup .exe and restored the thing. However since then, all my SMS messages have been kinda "hidden". I receive SMS messages, but i don't get audible notification - i do have "4 Messages Unread" but when i go to the Inbox, Sent, of Drafts folders the tree structure tells me that there are messages contained within, but i cannot see them ...
Any ideas - it's killing me ... i missed a date yesterday because of this !!! :x
I don't want to have to reset the phone. Maybe deleting the mail database ? (where is it ?)
Please help ...
sorted
Hard reset, and a restore of all items except the mail databases fixed it.
i had a Cingular 8525 which was bricked in process of upgrading the Radio to 1.38, it had Black 1.1 edition and windows live push email working which sent out notification every time i had new email or text.
My problem is i switched to Nokia 6230; and everytime i receive a new email on my hotmail id, it sends an sms to me.. this sms are eating into my MediaMax 200 Mesg plan (extra sms 0.05 )
Is there anyway i can change setting on 8525 to stop sending me SMS (i can borrow my friends 8525 to make those changes)
i plan to buy a new 8525 somewhere after 1st of April

This is a known problem with messaging with cingular. Check the cingular Forum and you will see the fix.
http://forums.cingular.com/cng?category.id=gsmgprs
Basicaly you need to get your orginal phone back and turn it off there to stop the SMS messages.
My wife had the problem and spent 3 days on the phone with Cingular support.
Thanks Jcb..
well after going thru cingular forum looks like the alerts are set in your hotmail account (if you recently have been receiving emails from Hotmail/Live ) about their new services on http://beta.mobile.msn.com
so under hotmail settings there is a tab receive mobile alerts and different options. well there is a bug on that page even if you stop subscribe email alerts on mobile somehow after 2- 3 emails the email notification SMS alerts start again .
so i just saved no alerts and switched back to good old Hotmail so this has nothing to do with Cingular or the other escape route would be to delete the mobile number from Hotmail account and stay with Windows Live .
I installed Ricky's 6.1 and everything went well. I have turned on the GPRS and can go to the web and stuff like that. The problem I am having is I can not get my Email to work when I add an account. My Outlook email box syncs fine, and my Text messages work. But when I go to add my Gmail account or my work email, they both keep asking for my user name and password for the incoming server.
I know the settings are correct, they are the same I used before the 6.1 upgrade. Now I did use Sprite backup before the update. When I restore my backup up the Email works fine, but it screws up a bunch of other stuff from the upgrade.
Is there a file or T-mobile plug in I have to install to get it working again?
Anyone know if there is a registry entry to get back the SMS notification in the today tab? It is just a number for how many unread sms messages there were.
email works fine, but the sms isn't.
I lost it somehow and I'm trying to save myself a hard-reset. (yes, I have soft reset)
thanks,
Paul
