i had a Cingular 8525 which was bricked in process of upgrading the Radio to 1.38, it had Black 1.1 edition and windows live push email working which sent out notification every time i had new email or text.
My problem is i switched to Nokia 6230; and everytime i receive a new email on my hotmail id, it sends an sms to me.. this sms are eating into my MediaMax 200 Mesg plan (extra sms 0.05 )
Is there anyway i can change setting on 8525 to stop sending me SMS (i can borrow my friends 8525 to make those changes)
i plan to buy a new 8525 somewhere after 1st of April
please help
This is a known problem with messaging with cingular. Check the cingular Forum and you will see the fix.
http://forums.cingular.com/cng?category.id=gsmgprs
Basicaly you need to get your orginal phone back and turn it off there to stop the SMS messages.
My wife had the problem and spent 3 days on the phone with Cingular support.
Thanks Jcb..
well after going thru cingular forum looks like the alerts are set in your hotmail account (if you recently have been receiving emails from Hotmail/Live ) about their new services on http://beta.mobile.msn.com
so under hotmail settings there is a tab receive mobile alerts and different options. well there is a bug on that page even if you stop subscribe email alerts on mobile somehow after 2- 3 emails the email notification SMS alerts start again .
so i just saved no alerts and switched back to good old Hotmail so this has nothing to do with Cingular or the other escape route would be to delete the mobile number from Hotmail account and stay with Windows Live .

I installed XpressMail on my Siemens SX66 and registered for XpressMail Personal on xpressmailpe.cingular.com. The device appers as UNKNOWN device with my phone number, Notify with SMS is on, SMS Notifications are ON for all new mail, etc... on my Siemens PUSH FRO NEW MAIL is on, yet I get no SMS notifying me of new emails... I checked everything don't know what is wrong, Cingular says everything is fine supposedly.
thanks
Hi all,
Recently joined the world of PDA's after realising the smartphones werent really that smart or good at anything, just average at a bit of everything.
Got myself and MDA iii which is on my t-mobile contract. I also have a google mail account.
I've managed to set up my PDA to receive my gmail emails but I can't send, every time it's saying "Unable to connect to the outgoing mail server. Verify the server name is correcnt, then try again to send and receive mail."
But I'm receiving mail. Can anyone help. I'm glad I got this far to be honest, I'm a complete techno muppet normally!!!
Help
Mail has two sides to it, sending and receiving.
If you get your mail your pop settings are fine
If you dont get your mail your SMTP settings are NOT Fine.
Inorder that users do not use a smtp server for releying mail many porividers block the sending of mails if you are not on there network or need you to authenticate on that server.
here is a home example.
My PDA is connected over wifi to a ADSL from my internet provider FASTNET
My pop mail I get over wifi (thus the ADSL) from my pop provder POPMAIL.
Thus I am no the FASTnet Network and need to send via FASTNET smtp.
If I try to send over POPMAIL it wont work as it is blocked by POPMAIL as I am comming from a differnet network (that of FASTMAIL).
So set up your account over your network provider.
Hope that helps
You could also try the Gmail App midlet for checking/searching/sending mail. Go to gmail.com/app on your PDA, and try it out. You use the Midlet Manager to run it.
Hey guys, I'm hoping someone here might have had this problem...
Okay, I had this problem with WM5 too but somewhow managaed to get it to stop. No such luck with WM6. Here's the problem:
I set up my Earthlink email via the "New E-mail Account..." funtion. Works fine. However, now whenever I get a new email at my earthlink address I _automatically_ get a text message along the lines of this:
701
F: "Palm Store Newsletter"<Palm_
S: Through Sunday May 20, 2007 -P
Sent to <my address>
ID:345543456:1
In my email settings I've set it to Automatic Send/Receive to _Manual_. I can't think of anything else that would be causing my Dash to retrieve email headers like this. But its driving me nuts! because I'm getting spammed by text messages all day.
I've tried reconfiguring my email, rebooting, doublechecking my settings. Gah!
Go to your tmobile account on line go toyur email and disable alerts they are not supported on WM6 -rather they expert you to go to an exchange server
Wow - that was it. I had no idea TMobile would go that far to charge me for text messages Thank you muchly ljcaz!
aol email
i have a similar problem except my problem is i have aol set up in my email on WM6. on WM5 i was able to check email and it would stay on server. the new WM6 for some reasone even delets it off ther server once i delete on my phone. i have the setting on the phone set to leave on server but i dont know how to fix the problem any ideas
i upgraded my 8525 ok to windows mobile 6.0 for ATT. so thanks to all of you who made that possible. my questions is that when setting up me email accounts on "messaging" i went to set up my hotmail account and i seemed to be doing all right but my hotmail account never showed up in "messaging when done. I had turned off the little box that asked to show the live search on the today window.
so since the hotmail account did not show up in "messaging" i tried to set the email account up again and when going through the set up proccess "messaging" loads up windows explorer to windows live.
so how do i get messaging to let me download and view hotmail messages on messaging and not have to go the the web each time.
Thanks for your help. i think i made a stuped set up problem in messaging but i just c an not find a way to get it back to square one.

Click to collapse
You can't!
I am not even sure with WM6 if you would be able to do so by beeing a paying subscriber to HOTMAIL service since LIVE is fully integrated in WM6.
Hotmail Can Be Sync With Messaging During Intial Mail Set Up. The Sync Box Needs To Be Checked. I Just Upgraded The Rom Again To Get Back To Set Up On Messaging To Have My Hotmail Email Show Up On Messaging With My Pop3 Account. So Solved It Myself. Thanks For Your Help.
Is there a way to accept calendar invites when they come through BB email onto my Dash and have them automatically go onto the calendar in the Dash? I found something in the Calendar settings but it only allows me to select Outlook email.
TIA.
were you able to activate BBC on your dash? when i try i get an error message. also i have no e-mail settings,, "unavailable"... services-- only provisioning, and my two mail accts. do you have the browser, im, and what ever else????
I am not sure if you did this yet or maybe you have it working by now, but in order to get the BB emails from, lets say T-Mobile, you have to add a BB plan. Then you have to go to T-Mobile web site, change your phone to a BB8100, go to set up BB email and set it up with an email account to push. Then after a while, for me it was 3-4 hours, go back to the email setup and there should be a notification that a device with your BB PIN# wants to receive mail. Click yes. It should start working.
Pre-requisites:
T_Mobile ROM does not support this working. You must upgrade to the new HTC ROM posted here.
You need to make sure you ave the LATEST BBConnect installed on your phone. Earlier ones did not work for me.
