I have an Orange SPV M2000 that's been working fine for ages. On Saturday, the battery came off in my pocket, and the thing reset itself. Bit of a pain, but i simply reran my Sprite backup .exe and restored the thing. However since then, all my SMS messages have been kinda "hidden". I receive SMS messages, but i don't get audible notification - i do have "4 Messages Unread" but when i go to the Inbox, Sent, of Drafts folders the tree structure tells me that there are messages contained within, but i cannot see them ...
Any ideas - it's killing me ... i missed a date yesterday because of this !!! :x
I don't want to have to reset the phone. Maybe deleting the mail database ? (where is it ?)
Please help ...

Hard reset, and a restore of all items except the mail databases fixed it.

Hi
How can I do this??? The message has been fully downloaded, and I can see the attatchments' icons below the message but... tapping the jpg has no effect, nor does the save as dialogue?? Very annoying!
Any idea's? or is this yet another bug?
Nigel
Not just jpgs
Hi
Its not just .jpg files NO attatchments will open, even simple text or html files. Does the PPC messaging application actually support attatchments???
Nigel
If someone here CAN view attatchments to emails on their Blue Angel please post. If its possible then my unit must be screwed (hard reset time) but I would rather avoid wasting umpteen hours re-installing after a hard reset if it stands no chance of fixing the problem.
My device is the O2 XDA IIs

Hi There
do you have a little arrow next to each attachment??
are these attachments that are in the email folder that you have Active Sync'd across????
it sounds to me that you haven't set active sync to copy attachments............go to options, inbox, settings......down the bottom you get the chance to copy message attachments across upto a pre-determined size
if it's via pop3 dial / gprs tha tyou can't do it, then it's probably because you have created an account to download message body or headers only....just tap and hold on the appropriate email message and select 'mark for download'
of course, i may be in danger of teaching the proverbial egg sucking !!!
perhaps a hard reset is required....i have had no issues with jpg etc
Hi
This is a POP3 account and the full message has been downloaded, but clicking on the attatchments' icons that appear below the message text has no effect.
I can see the attatchments on the device through the file explorer, and the size is reasonable (though obviously this data is in a format only understood by the mail app). Looks like I will have to do a hard reset.
I have tried and then uninstalled a few apps - looks like on of them failed to leave the device as it found it when it was uninstalled.

Hi, recently i've been experiencing problems with my o2 orbit.
Every so often i loose all the messages in my inbox for SMS messages and my Hotmail email account.
I then try to recheck my hotmail account via wifi and it just goes through the motions and says finished. My inbox remains empty but when i go and check on my pc there are anywhere between 5 and 15 emails waiting to be read.
At the same time i also loose all my text messages from my inbox. I can receive new messages as normal.
When i soft reset all is well again and i can download all my new mail.
Does anyone know of another solution other than to soft reset my xda?
Cheers
Ben
hi,
in my artemis, a few weeks ago, i have experienced the same problem: the text messages folder was not found.
only a hard reset as resolved the problem.
try the next:
a) save all your data via a backup program (sprite backup or spb backup)
b) execute a hard reset
c) restore all previously saved data EXCEPT the email data (is an option in spb backup, but i don't not if available in sprite backup)
the problem is a corruption in the \cemail file. but the cemail file is a system file, and cannot be pverwrite directly.
regards and lucky...
Thanks for your reply but i think i may have found the culprit!
I am using Wisbar Advanced Desktop and have a meter on the today screen counting the number of unread emails and SMS's in each of the accounts.
Apparently this is know to be buggy and delete messages from time to time. Anyway i have disabled the two text meters and so far so good.
Now, it's quite a while I've been using WM2005 on my blue angel and I hadn't ever experienced such a problem. It seems like my messaging program has got a little mixed up. It says "1 unread message" while there's no unread message in my inbox. well, I hadn't cleared my inbox and sent folder for a while, so I deleted all the messages, but the "1 unread message" was still there. After I soft reseted my device, I saw that all the messages I had deleted were present again; both in inbox and sent folders. I tried again and again but my device can't delete any text message. All of them are present after reseting. Hard reseting(which actually does nothing other than time reset) didn't work either.
Anyone know if there is a registry entry to get back the SMS notification in the today tab? It is just a number for how many unread sms messages there were.
email works fine, but the sms isn't.
I lost it somehow and I'm trying to save myself a hard-reset. (yes, I have soft reset)
thanks,
Paul
After the 1.21 OTA update I've had 2 issues with my messaging application and I believe they may be related to eachother.
The sms counter shows I have a lot more sms's between myself and others than I initially expected, to be specific close to 4000 with just one contact which I found to be absurd. Upon closer inspection it appears all my sms's have been duplicated that is there are double or duplicate entries of every single received and sent sms between me and all my contacts.
I currently have an application called SMS backup by Christoph Studer which allows me to backup all my sms to my gmail which I find extremely handy.
When updating I assume that the phone made a backup of my sms's to be restored or that they are already stored somewhere on my sd card and after the update I assumed they were all restored. Now I would have expected to only see one set of sms's and not 2 and I'm thinking that maybe it has something to do with my SMS backup app being tied to my gmail and that after it restored it off my sd card, that it resynced my entire gmail with contacts, emails etc and also synced my sms's from my gmail hence having duplicate sms.
When I send and receive sms's I dont receive duplicates, I only have duplicates of everything before the OTA update.
I want to know the workaround for this to remove those duplicate sms's apart from manually deleting each and every single sms, which I guess I will resort to enventually.
My 2nd problem which I may believe is linked to the first problem is that the stock messaging app seems to be working much more slowly than before ever since the update. Usually after I send an sms it will appear fairly quickly in the threaded view, now it takes easily a few seconds more and appears to hang before it shows. Even loading threaded sms views seem to take longer more so with those who have longer threaded conversations with. But even with the people I text less there seems to be a more noticeable delay than before.
At first I thought this had to do with the application itself after the update but I'm guessing it's due to having to deal with twice as many sms's as before.
So basically I'm looking for a fix to remove the duplicated messages and to speed up the stock app again which I think are interelated.
Im looking at options other than manually removing each and every sms and other than replacing the stock app with handcent or chomp.
I've also looked at the SMS backup app and played around with it and theres no option present there which says to backup sms back to my phone, it only sends it to my gmail. I havent poked enough in my gmail to see if there is some options which syncs my gmail sms back to my phone again.
Suggestions?
