Not sure how to do this myself, but I came across this snippet of info on how it should be done...
Windows Mobile 2003 Installation Warning
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Installing applications on the Windows 2003 2nd Edition results in the following warning being displayed during installation on the Pocket PC:
"The program you have installed may not display properly because it was designed for a previous version of Windows Mobile Software".
According to the Microsoft article at:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/d...dnwm2k3/html/screen_orientation_awareness.asp
you can prevent this warning from being displayed by adding the BuildMax key to your CEDevice section of the INF file as shown here:
[CEDevice]
VersionMin=3.00
VersionMax=4.99
BuildMax=0xE0000000
and then rebuilding the CAB files.

Hope this helps. I'm no expert at messing about with CAB files, but I'm going to see if I can figure this out.
I wouldn't call it an 'error'. Its actually a notification that the app you've installed wasn't designed for landscapre mode. Surely thats quite handy?
JD
not a good ideia....
iap... i don't think that's a good ideia because the warning is a good help in identifying potential conflicting apps.
I think it's nice to get rid of those msg's for cabs that you put in your extrom.
unfortenately Wince cab manager restricts Maximum os build to 0-999999

All you need is this
[CEDevice] VersionMax value should be more than 4.21
So 999999 does not flag "may not display properly" error with 2003 SE :wink:

In practice I found that you have to set VersionMIN to 4.21 build 0
and VersionMax greater or equal to 4.21 build 0. I use VersionMax of 5.9 build 0 using WinCE CAB Manager v1.1.0.4 from OCP Software.
I'm a bit of a tinkerer, as many here are, so I keep playing with my extrom and hard-resetting.
I just thought it might be handy for people like me. I know there's quite a few people out there cooking their own extrom for WM2003SE.
I cooked a rom with LVSW0326 base and embedded CE-Star, Real One Player, Ewallet, Bluetooth Chattin' and Cyberon Voice Commander 2.0 (extracted from Dopod). I also modified the connection profile to include the Cingular MediaNet settings. Everything is working fine except that the Cingular MediaNet connection which I have to enter the username and password when it's use the first time. I am wondering if there's a registry key or cert that is holding the username and password setting which I have missed?

Thanks. I already know there's CABs out there to automatically set those settings. But what I mean is to embeded that into a cooked rom, so everyone when I do a hard reset, the programs and settings are still there. I just wanted to modify the registry instead of calling the CAB from the Ext. Rom.
A bit off topic but which utils did you use to cook the custom LVSW rom, rom koch and which others?

The LVSW 0326 edition has to be cook differently becuase it uses the "more storage" option. The Koch can not handle this type of files. What you can do is to manually extracted the rom to NBs using nbhextract. Then use the utilities in the "more storage" option to dump the files of the 06_OS.nb. Then add the files directly to the dump folder. convert the default.hv and user.hv in the dump folder to registry file type. edit the 2 files, convert it back to .HV type and place them back to the dump folder. Then modify the iniflashfiles to accomdate your needs..finally, you can then use the koch tool to convert the os-new.nb to signed RUU.nbh.

Try to deactivate HTC's phone skih. The WM6 default skin now have great new options.
Here is the registry change:
Remove operator skin from Phone app
If your device's Phone app is skinned, you can remove by setting:
HKLM\Security\Phone\Skin\Enabled = 0 (DWORD decimal)
Similarly, you can restore it with:
HKLM\Security\Phone\Skin\Enabled = 1 (DWORD decimal)

I dont know how, or if you can uninstall those programs..look in your system folder under program files, but I dont recall ever seeing those programs in there. I think they are in the extended ROM and would have to be removed before you flash...but I dont know how to do it, or if that information is correct.
I do know, however, that SIP has to do with Voice Over IP - Internet, or WiFi calling. Thats all I know on that subject, not a feature I ever got excited about.

First; the calculator can NEVER be removed (it's part of the WM Operating system).
For the Voice speed dial i'm not sure, but you can remove apps that were installed from the EXTended ROM by doing a hard reset, and then immediately do a soft-reset as soon as the 'customisation-process' starts (that's what loads apps from the extended rom to your device, and so you skip that).
HOWEVER: as there may be some customisations in there that are needed for good operation on your network, you do this at your own risk...
But let's talk shop... (on-topic)
I've got a Trinity with an official Dopod WM6 ROM on it, and now i am looking for upgrading my friends Artemis...
So i wondered if there are any issues with this ROM, and how exactly all of you flashed this on a different CID device (my Friend 's got a Dutch (NL) Artemis)... So far i have found out that apparently the Artemis has to be CID unlocked completely before flashing different CID ROM...or are there hacked bootloaders out there that work too...?
Sorry for asking a question that may have been answered before, but an Artemis is just not my native device as you understand...
Search for USPL, its a hacked bootloaded that makes it possible to load any rom onto your device.
no issues so far, rock solid stability. faster performance than the black and blue rom as it doesnt include all the added junk
I don't understand why you should "upgrade" to radio 1.47, when 02.69.90 is in this ROM..?
Yes! WM6 is on my Orbit - going to remove the horrible green HTC dialpad.
However the SIP/VoIP stuff is missing from the WWE rom
Could somebody please check if this ROM includes Czech regional settings?
Czech is in the list in Regional Settings

About the only way to remove those particular apps would be to cook your own ROM, resetting before customization might get rid of Voice command and Clearvuew PDF, but I am not sure. I have contemplated cooking my own version of the official 3.5 ROM to get rid of Voice Command and ClearVue but it has not been worth the effort yet. Maybe once the official HTC ROM comes out. I install too many programs to make me want to flash regularly.
Thank you Janetpanic
Dear Tom:
I like your 3.7 version, but, this is very slow (3.5 is mor fast)
I like a New ROM within apps (Not clean, please), but with:

Flashed on my HTC P3350 (alias HTC LOVE)
Hi cesconoa.
Yesterday I flashed your rom on my new HTC P3350 and I must say
that you have done very good work (essential and good loking).
This is first rom I flashed (my phone arrived 3 day ago and I didn't like
wm5 on board).
However I had problem with cid unlocking, but retrying a second time it
went ok, meanwhile installing your rom was done without problems.
This evening I will install your next release (1.2). Must I have particular
attentions? Is it sufficient 1) Re-cid unlocking 2) Flashing your new release?
Yesterday I accidentally eliminated the rom's desktop link to the
CommManager (the first icon on the quick start's group) and trying to
restore the link I did't found the program in the list of avaible program.
Do you know how to do? However CommManager.exe is well located in windows path.
Using your rom I found a program to quick fix gps signal. May it be of
any use for me (P3350 doesn't has gps) having external bluetooth gps?
..I had never seen before this program.
Very good your idea of eliminate many programs and useless files that
peoples may install later in storage card (if they need). I suggest you
to substitute also the calculator and the timer.. and remove also other
useless programs (for which the web is rich of good alternatives).
Thanks you for your release, and if you need some help improving
your very good rom, I will be nice to support you with my experience

@cesconoa: when I try to download your 1.2 upgrade from the link that you have posted, I obtain only a 221 kb .nbh file; please, could you give me another mirror? Thank you.
Problem downloading Rom v.1.2
Hi cesconoa.
I am having problem downloading your rom (from http://files-upload.com/),
because every attempt to download it, end up before the 50%.
You should change server or add it also on another server.
Last but not least, before upload it, you should pack it in .zip or .rar format,
so that, if the file is incompletely downloaded (as in my case) or
partially damaged, unpacking it may help discovering the problem (thanks to
crc check done by unpacker), avoiding flashing a damaged rom.
yet many thanks

Hi Friends,
Basically, it is a stripped-down version of the shipped Asus P565 India ROM. I have tried to remove whatever I could, from the OS and ExtROM partitions.
ROM Link - http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=9547fa0bd70d84778ef1259ff1b60e81e04e75f6e8ebb871
Here are the details of this ROM :
OS : WM 6.1 Professional
Build : 19965.1.2.3
Bootloader version : 3.36
Base ROM : V6_12_0_WWE00_IND00_V2_10_0(Asus FTP) - 28-Apr-09
Storage Memory : Total ~142 MB, In Use ~ 6 MB, Free ~136 MB
Program Memory : Total ~90 MB, In Use ~33 MB, Free ~57 MB
Thanks :
Many Thanks to 'starkwong' for providing the ABI compile/decompile tool.
Here is what I have removed so far :
1. Asus Today
2. Ezimusic
3. Eziphoto
4. Asus WMP Skins
5. Asus Dialer Themes
6. Asus Today themes
7. All Ringtones & Sounds(Asus)
8. Google Maps

Further items which could be removed :

There could be more, just a list to start with...
Please feel free to download & modify the contents of this ROM. Let me know if you face any bugs. I am using this on my phone for the last two days and haven't found any issues so far.
P.S. : Do not change the name of the .abi file. Just extract, copy to your storage card and flash.

Disclaimer : Flashing ROM is a risky operation. You even can end up with a broken device! Be sure that you know excactly what and why you are doing. I do not guarantee that this will work with your device and I do not take any responsibility in case something goes wrong. You do it on your own risk.
Wow, great job, thanks! That's plenty of storage.
Would be bice to also remove UrTime, Asus Zip (worst unzip utility I've seen), Remote Calendar (goes away like Google Maps).
And, is there a way to free up some more RAM?

Thanks buddy, you saved me some flashing attempts....but a few questions :
1. Does the ExtROM Installer run successfully ( without any message "Installation failed !") ?
2. Does the Internet Explorer run without any problems ?
3. Are all shortcuts for other Programs and Control Panel Settings(Personal/System/Connections) there? ( You may lose some while removing some programs).
4. Does adding .NETCF 3.0 result in any improvement in performance ? - I tried adding it but didn't see any difference in performance.
Anyways, thanks for taking it forward.... I am waiting for an official 6.5 update. Will produce the next lite version only after that...

The free RAM/ROM space is the same like it was in original rishi2504 ROM.
Could anyone kindly explain how to flash this ROM?
Simple. Put it on a microSD card, then hold navipad Down and press Reset.
One questoin: how do you edit ExtROM? What tool do you use?
Upd: Ah, never mind: I used the wrong .img file, so Winimage didn't work. Though, it worked on the right file.
Great ROM guys. LOVE the lite version janekiwan! Thank you both.
Since I've installed this ROM I can't answer the incoming calls with call button. Is there any fix for this bug?
thanks,
Installed this rom a week ago (modified by janekiwan) on russian P565.

Flwaless!
The only one little problem i found - is absence of "Device lock" option in today screen (Start-->Settings-->Personal-->Today-->Items-->DeviceLock), which can be solved by adding to the registry of the following lines:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Today\Items\"Device Lock"]
"Options"=dword:00000000
"Flags"=dword:00000000
"Order"=dword:00000008
"Selectability"=dword:00000002
"DLL"="shutil.dll"
"Enabled"=dword:00000001
"Type"=dword:00000004
Thanx for a great rom!
