Hey,
I was wondering if there was anyway to tell in detail what band i am on.
My phone should be connecting to telstra's UMTS 850 network, but i think it is only connected to the 3g 2100 network. Is there anyway to check?
Same with my data connections, i dont think it is connecting at the higher speed 850 band, and has reverted back to the slower standard 3g 2100 band.
Im using schaps 3.54b
Cheers
Daniel Herrera's Bandswitch will tell you which band you're on and allow you to change at will. Get it HERE....
Another one is from Shogunmark and is HERE...
You should be able to check them: phone>menu>options>band. Once there, you can select your band or go auto.
yeah, it seems i cant get on band 850 (telstra's nextg network) with any of the new roms.
very strange.
BTW...what radio version are using?
Check out this excellent engineering mode app. It says what band you're currently using.

I just stumbled across this old thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=265606
Is the possibility of this true?? Has anyone tried to do work on the Radio ROM to bring in Quad band? I would pay to have 850 available for my phone.
Comments?
Has anyone tried an Athena radio on the Universal ( I presume yes, still looking through the forums ). And what about the HTC Sable? They both use the same CPU and the Sable in particular has comparable ROM sizes.
Quote from one of the links:
QUALCOMM's MSM6250 chipset solution helps enable worldwide roaming for
WCDMA (UMTS) terminals. The MSM6250 system solution supports dual-mode, quad-
band GSM transceiver operations [GSM 850, GSM 900, Digital Cellular System
(DCS) 1800, and GSM 1900] and WCDMA (UMTS) transmit operations for 800 MHz,
1900 MHz and 2100 MHz.
Shouldn't the Universal therefore be able to do 850 with a change to the radio ROM? Do the HTC Sable and Athena use the same chipset?
Can anyone help us?
It would be great to have a 850 band for my SPVm5000. Hope anybody can answer your question. Seems that since this phone was only released for europe and not USA the quadband was not open
The diamond with what ROM or Radio ever , shows the freaking US Nonstandard Standard of 850 and 1900 mhz for UMTS
But to use it for online purpose is impossible. It goes only to Edge what is closer to the speed of smokesigns .
The old touch cruise does well in the same areas with the same provider and the same settings .
Someone here who live also in the (Telephone development country) USA and figured out any solution ?
Thanks a lot
i do not have the international Version of the Diamond
sounds like you have the European (900+2100) diamond that does not have the us 3G (850+1900) bands. if this is the case you are stuck with EDGE.
it is true
but the radio or HTC ROM shows 850/1900 UMTS is this just another joke from HTC ?
Thanks
some roms show all the radio versions but are not usable because of hardware dependencies. my rom shows the china 1700 umts band but i know the hardware in my phone does not support it.
it's not htc but rather rom cookers leave all the available versions in windows so people from all parts of the globe can use their rom and see the bands for their country.
850 mhz Radio ?
did found this information quite old but HOPE.
"Sure, devoted ROM cooks were able to give the Euro-spec HTC Touch Diamond some 850Mhz frequency capability. And then HTC came out with their own ROM update that gave the HTC Touch Diamond EDGE-support on the 850Mhz band. But, without a dedicated 850/1900Mhz 3G radio under the hood, the HTC Touch Diamond just couldn’t crack the US market like we’d hoped."
SO is there a Radio, because the 850mhz is there and to get 3G seems a Radio Issue
I just saw this on expansys-usa with 17 Touch Pro2 in stock. The details sheet seems to be a world phone. Below is the link. Does anyone know if this unit would work on AT&T 3G network in the US?

This has already been answered before.
The Rhodium they are selling only supports 900 MHz and 2100 MHz for 3G/HSPA. AT&T requires either 850 MHz or 1900 MHz. So the clear answer is No, it will not work with AT&T 3G.
To answer the obvious question somebody else will ask next, the 2100 MHz band is used in T-Mobile's 3G network, however TMo's network requires that the phone support both 1700MHz AND 2100MHz for the up and down streams, so this phone will not function with the US T-Mobile 3G Network either.
The phone WILL function for making calls or data connections over the Edge bands (GSM/GPRS/EDGE) for both US providers...So the phone is certainly functional, but it won't make high speed data connections in the United States.
If anything I've written is incorrect, please mock me
I purchased the newly released UMI X2 Android phone. I am unable to use the TMobile 3G network. I am only able to use 2G/EDGE.
Voice and data quality are very bad, almost the phone is unusable. I spoke with T-Mobile and was informed that my modem does not support 1700 MHz and there are effort to re-farm TMobile network to support 3G on 1900Mhz but not set date yet. When I scan for available network I get three networks were available
T-Mobile 2G
AT&T 3G
AT&T 2G
Operating System: Android 4.2.1 OS
Processor: 1.2GHz MTK MT6589 quad-core processor
Connectivity Technology: GSM network & WCDMA - Standard SIM card
Network Band: GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz & WCDMA 850/2100MHz
Data Technology: GPRS, EDGE, HSPA
Baseband version
MOlY.WR8.W1248.MD.WG.MP.V2.P1
I would appreciate any help to get my phone to work on 3G.

Did you make any progress with this? I recently purchased UMI X2, for use with T-Mobile UK. But have the same problem of not being able to connect to 3G networks - it works okay on 2G/EDGE.
I know the phone supports 3G on 2100MHz, and there's been some debate whether it supports 850/900MHz as well, but I've not found a definitive answer to that.
There's an operator in the UK (Hutchinson 3G UK Ltd) that only have a license for 2100MHz. So I was expecting the phone to work fine on their network- but no go... phone won't register on network at all - even though it shows in the available networks list.
I'm now searching to see if anyone else has been having problems - as it's beginning to look like faulty phone hardware - rather than trying to use unsupported frequencies...
acid meaand
I am still in the same situation, I am unable to use the 3G network for T-Mobile.
I am looking into getting 4G Wireless Hotspot modem $50 from the same carrier, use my SIM card on the modem, and use my UMI X2 as pure IP phone. There are many issues, but it looks promising.
Please keep me updated with any progress you make.

I have the same problem...
I have this same problem with a operator here in Brazil. Every 3G operator in Brazil, using 2.1GHz band, works fine except one: VIVO.
I can see the network when I click on "manual search", but the phone can't connect. My baseband is:
moly.wr8.w1248.md.wg.mp.v7.p1 2013/04/10 00:39
How can change this baseband to another? I tried to update firmware but unfortunately the newest firmware has the same baseband version.
firmware update will not solve the problem
Firmware update will not solve the problem. Until the manufacture identifies the problem and provides a solution, the problem is outstanding.
Beside the hardware has to be compatible and can support more frequencies which no one can confirm for the UMI or any other chines unlocked phones.
But, this is just my humble opinion.
I Found a solution (at least for me)
I think I found a solution for my problem. I flashed this very new (2013/07/17) rom, with a new baseband MOLY.WR8.W1248.MD.WG.MP.V7.F2.P1, 2013/07/10 23:14 that corrects 3G dropouts and disconnects. Now my 3g works find, with H and sometimes H+. Fast and reliable like it should be. The link for this new ROM is:

Thanks for the update.
I have two questions.
1- There are two files in the link you provided UMI-X2-basedon_Official_250613.zip and UPDATE_UMI-X2-THB-ROM-based_on_Official_170713.zip. Which do use?
2- You mentioned the updated corrected 3G dropouts and disconnects, but do you know if the update have these frequencies to get 3G?
3G (850, 900, 1700, 1900, 2100 MHz)
HSPA+ 42
P.S
GSM/EDGE/GPRS (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz) original specs

I used the file UPDATE_UMI-X2-THB-ROM-based_on_Official_170713.zip. It was based on the Official ROM from 07/17/2013, but I was unable to find the official stock version. This version has a very new bandbase that, supposedly, fixed the problem with 3G on some operators.
3G on Brazil is on 2100 MHz, sometimes on 850MHz but in my case the problem was on 2.1GHz band. Three WCDMA operators in Brazil, all in the same 2.1GHz frequency, work fine, but VIVO doesn't. Now, with the new rom, it works with no drop outs for over a day now.
no changes or additional frequencies
I successfully applied the update but no changes or additional frequencies
I have serious issues with HSDPA, t-mobile uk works but only on GPRS and it keeps dropping out. GiffGaff seems to work without dropping out. It has worked for a minute on HSDPA today but only once. Other than that t-mobile has been dropping out badly. GPRS works for a bit then it drops out. I have took an MTK modem log with MobileUncle Tools to see what it says but haven't looked at it yet. Trying to work out if it is a hardware issue or Baseband.
I get this from my X2 Radio Logcat:

Hi,
do you have a description and a photo of how you did it?
How long the Cu wire has to be? And where to connect it?
Many thanks in advance.
