Sony Ux as a phone? - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

I own a sony ux (http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/...rch_seo&SQS=ux)
And I also have a sim card in it so I have Internet where ever I go. I was wondering if anyone knows if its possible to make outgoing calls using the AT&T Network and my sim card? Not voip, but like a cell phone.
I see that someone is working on using a skype dialer and an iphone skin to create a phone, but not sure if this is what I am looking for.

Let me know if I am way out of bounds here....
Thanks
Jim

Whats the cheapest way to call to the Philippines? is VOIP cheaper?
I wanted to find out from people who make a lot of internation calls what the cheapest method is to do this? i mean, my girl is in the philippines and im just dialing my regular number and sometimes my phone bill is like $300-$400. its way too much. some people recommended i get a VOIP line instead of my phone and itll be cheaper. and other people are saying skype. i dont want her to have to download anything though. and skype you have to talk computer to computer right? i need something that can go through my regular phone because her computer hasnt worked lately, thats the whole reason my bill was so much. she had no email, instant messaging or anything so i was calling all the time, so thats why its so expensive. i need something to make the calls cheaper and VOIP sounds the best so far. anybody know about it? anybody make international calls a lot, have a similar situation to mine?
works great

requesting big button dialer for dual sim dual standby ACER DX900

I have recently purchased ACER DX900. As it supports 2 sims together, the default dialer has 2 call buttons : 'talk1' and 'talk2' enabling user to decide from which sim to make the call. As usual the default dialer is with small buttons. Is there any custom dialer available that supports 2 sims talk buttons or can any kind developer make a new one please.
Thanks in advance
having the same problem
Hi all,
I have the same problem with my Acer DX900. It would be nice to have a small tool running in the background that asks you what SIM to use after you pressed the "call-button".
For example, if you call a contact within SPB Mobile Shell, there is no way to select SIM1 or SIM2.
It would be great if someone has a clever solution.
Thank you in advance.
Martin
I'm actually going to have a dual sim for the first time in the end of this month. If its registry-based (and will probably be) I'll do a Flash app or a WM6.5 plugin to toogle cards.

as of now, there is no wm6.5 rom for dx900. hopefully you can make one
as for the dialer i am not sure if it's registry based, but the sms sending definitely is. i've already mase a simple switcher for it.
oh i didnt knew it could be so compartmentalized, i thought that one HAD to be inactive so that the other could run....

how 's the progress? Did you get Dx900?
Sorry, I completly forgot about this... I wanted to use my ISP offer to have a 3G connection with free slow internet, but I ended up changing to another operator where I have free limited internet.

i dialer for Acer dx900
can someone of the tech masters on this site tell me how I can have large dial pad on my Acer dx900. you know idialer will 2 sim selection ? please
not many help
got this device (DX900) from 2 days, but i must admit, suport for this is poor like hell. From 2 yeras I have also Kaiser and every 4-5 months my phone changed drasticly because of ROM cookers. Unfortunately I had enough to take my 2 phones everytime and uodate them both, so thats why dual sim is better even without so many features like on Kaiser
I want a big dialer too can anyone make this happen please ?
Any solution?
standard telephone dialer and dual SIM dialer
Can you please tell me where to find information about Android standard telephone dialer? Where is this software and function? I assume this is part of the telephone manager?
Can you please tell me the technique and software to make dual SIM work? Where can I find info?
Thank you.

[Q] restoring the dial pad

Ok what i am trying to do is reactivate the dial pad so i can call out on Google voice if it is possible. I see the mobile network and data in the es explorer. But they are both blocked. i love voice on my home PC. I know my friend with an android phone can use it the same as a regular phone call just like selecting a browser or media player. i was trying to make an app that dose it. I do have root. I am not asking anybody to do it for me but some pointers would be a great help.
PS if you did do it i would love to know how as i am learning how to add permitions and other hooks. this one is eluding me!
look into groveip. There is a thread about it in the apps area.
thank you but not what i was asking
As i said i was wondering where i can do it. I have seen the groove post before. It seams like a nice app but it dose not meet one requirement. I wanted to make it so i could change it.
Even if you do get a standard Android dialer to work(not even sure if it's really in Honeycomb), you'd still need the physical hardware to be present and working(definitely not in the WiFi version and unlikely in the 3G version without lots of work), hence the need for something like GrooveIP.
again

i am asking if anybody knows where or how not an app.
to find the apk or how to add the service and fake it into thinking it has gsm or to reset the Dial as i believe that will be a good start

[Q] Desire HD WIFI calling

Guys....Does anybody know of a good app or a rom with the option to make wifi calls from my DHD? We have just moved to a very rural UK area that has a great wifi connection but no connection for our phones. We (wife and I) are both on T-Mobile, I have a DHD rooted and she a Desire un rooted. Please help if you can as I am of very bad health (dodgey heart) and have often had to call an ambulance but alas this is not possible any longer. Before you ask 'why did we move here?' One reason was because its very beautiful and the other reason is it's very quiet (My health needs this) As daft as it seems we never thought to check mobile coverage.lol (you have to laugh or you will cry)
Thanks Guys
I use Skype. Free and the quality is amazing with almost no delay on a good connection
Sent from my Desire HD using xda premium
You have a few different possibilities:
a) Even if you are using t-mobile it should be possible to call the police, an ambulance or the firefighters via vodaphone or whatever you've got up there. Maybe you should just give it a try and see if you get a connection.
b) Skype. This site should give you all the info you need:
http://www.skype.com/intl/en/legal/emergency/
c) You can get a router with VOIP functionality to be able to use your landline on your phone. This is of course only possible while you are at home.
Viber and skype are very good quality calling sound.
I am using Skype is irreplaceable always bell to the family abroad
I recommend
If you have a SIP account, you can use it with sevrals apps like "csipsimple".
You can call were you want form Wifi.

Thanks for you thoughts and help guys

Dual SIM - Call Manager Automation

Hello,
This is my first dual SIM phone.
One of the things I have been struggling is the fact that we need to choose which SIM we want to use.
I've been using an app called "Dual SIM Selector" but I would like to know what most of you guys are using to automate this selection.
Does anyone knows if there's a clever way of doing this task?
Does tasker, for instance, can do this, is there a better app?
Thanks.
Kavsko.
I'm not sure I understand you question fully but I struggled a bit with finding a suitable way to select sims when dialing. I am more using this phone dialer which held a lot. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hb.dialer.free
Im first dual sim phone here too, you can configure it in the sim setting which card is to use for phone/sms/internet. Or do you mean something else?

I'm using this Dialer too and is very easy to use. You can setup a contact list in Dual Sim settings where you can fix contacts to call with a specific sim card.
