Does my Artemis have AGPS funtion? - P3300, MDA Compact III General

I wonder if the AGPS just is supported by wireless without any built-in chip.
If yes, dose my Artemis can be running with AGPS?

I don't believe Artemis has the AGPS function build in. As far as I know it hasn't got anything to do with upgrading WM to in example version 6.

Upgrading Tomtom?

I bought an Artemis (standard package) a while ago and it shipped with Tomtom Navigator 6.020. I'd like to be able to know if there's a newer version of the software out, but so far, the only way I've found to be able to check this is through the TomTom Home desktop application, which doesn't seem to work with my Artemis's TomTom Navigator software.
Is there any page on the TomTom website where I can get Navigator updates (or at least check to see which version number is current)?
Also, I though I'd ask - 6.020 still is the most current version of Navigator, correct?
Although I don't own an Artemis a friend of mine does Tomtom home will function only if Tomtom is not running on the device.
One way to check for updates is either by GSM/GPRS/UTMS connection or when the device is connected via AS on a PC with an active internet connection. Go to Tomtom Plus services - Check for updates. Make sure you have a valid username and password for TT plus services.
My Artmis works good with TomTom home and yes, 6.0.20 ist the up-to-date-version
I have an XDA Orbit, I updated from Tomtom V5 to V6 today and works fine no problem, boots up a lot faster than TT5. Not sure why you have V6.020 , mine is V6.010 build (7720) which should be the latest?
By the way if anyone is upgrading from V5 to V6 maps, when it asks for which device you have pick MDA III if you don't you will only get V6 Maps, no TT6 Program.

Mike, I guess TOMTOM have done a special OEM bundle for the HTC P3300, I don't get the "Inbuilt GPS" option, I have to setup mine as "Other NMEA GPS reciever" Baud rate 4800 COM4,
Cheers

Just wondering why coz I recently bought tt6 and installed it on my S100 and the version says only 6.010 and when I try to update it tells me I've already have the latest version.
Latest version TT6: 6.010
Version on HTC P3300 is 6.020, which is 6.010 adjusted with the internal GPS feature
I have a HTC P3300 which came with the 6.020 however when hooked up to TT Home it advised me that there was an update. After i updated the vesrsion was 6.010.
Everything worked fine! I aclled Tom Tom US and they did not know that the latest version was. So what i did is a master reset and reverted to the factory setting to reapply the 6.020 since thyat one should be the latest version.
Cheers
TT6 should detect the internal GPS on the Orbit/3300/Artemis fine I know mine does, had the co-piolt got rid of it as it was crap and put TT6 on and works fine
Just need to work out how to load new voices onto it now
Kimbie
Simply use TT Home to load voices onto the card.
does the 6.020 version also add the ability to use the quick GPS function of the artemis which is greyed out on the 6.010 version?
I'm running a back-up version of 6.010 and it seems to work fine, although it does take ages to get a fix.

Hi, I run an Orbit I have QuickGPS which updates when I sync my Orbit with the PC, I also run TT v 6.010 , can you explain what is greyed out?
Cheers
I am in the same situation that the "quick fix gsp" is grayed out on both tt home and/or in my device.
Just for a test, can anyone post the files stored in the Navigator folder?
My quick gps on the HTC-P3300 is not grayed out. Where is the quick gps on the TT?

I think there is a bit of confusion on my part and maybe others it seems tomtom has a plugin similar or the same as "HTC QuickGPS" which essentially does the same thing when in TOMTOM, I cannot find it in my version? links below explains TOMTOM version.
‘QuickGPSfix’ http://www.tomtom.com/plus/service.php?ID=18&Language=1
I think but am not sure the "HTC QuickGPS" should help TT6 and other gps apps find the satellites quicker as long as the PDA is docked with activesync regularly or downloaded via GPRS? If I am wrong please let me know.
Cheers
Hi NickR,
Mine works exactly as you explained. I used the tweak so i could drain the battery while plugged in without charging. I have been told i should drain the battery every once in a while. I am in the basement phone is on with wifi and gps working flawless.
cheers,

I'm confused about your statement because first you claim it works but then you ask where is it located. So how do you know it works if you don't know where to activate/deactivate it?
@NickR: what you say is true and seems to be designed only for non PDA/phone devices.
The quickGPS installed in my HTC-P3300 fine.
The one in TT i cannot find!
The "quick gps fix" in tt can be found when selecting "TTPlus Services - Download more" options. You'll have to have the device connected via AS or EDGE/GPRS/UMTS.
Appologies dicin, I didn't mean to be rude. I don't have an Artemis and would like to know what does the "quick gps" installed on your device do. Does it have the same function as posted by NickR (http://www.tomtom.com/plus/service.php?ID=18&Language=1)?

Common Issues with WM5 ROMs

Hi all, for the last few months I have tried various Universal ROMs and even various WM5 phones including HTC and HP iPAQ, there are some commond issues which I haven't been able to figure out a permanent solution (work arounds are available though not ideal), these are:
- SIP (System Input Panel), if you install any additional SIP like SPB fullscreen keyboard, Monster SIP etc, every time after you soft reset the device, unless you load them up straight away, you will not be able to load them up after a few minutes (don't know exactly how long) until next reset!! This is a great pain, I have found a SIP changer program which automatically load a SIP after soft reset, but I will really love a permanent solution.
- Bluetooth problem with Tomtom 6 (TT6). With lots of AKU versions of WM5 (apart from Helmi AKU 3.3 I tried so far, haven't tried it with Helmi AKU 3.5 though so I can't be sure with that version) every time I start up TT 6 it asks me to enter the passcode to pair my BT GPS receiver again even though I have done it 100 times already!! Again I have seen this issue on other WM5 devices in addition to Universal so I am wondering if any one has a solution.
Thanks!

I've never seen this problem on either my Universal, or my friend's Wizard (which I set up for them).
I don't know if this is the "standard" way, but basically, I pair the GPS device (a BT-77 in our cases), and then setup an outgoing COM port to it, and then simply tell TomTom to attach to that COM port. In fact, I have two BT-77s, one set to COM0 in the car, and a hand-held one on COM4, and I can switch to my heart's content, and have never been asked to re-pair.
Cheers,
Steve.

i've installed a hebrew sip but i dont have a problem loading it anytime i want.
although, sometimes i have a problem composing a new text message. the device gets stuck sometimes if the keyboard it not opened when i click "new".
happends only with helmi's 3.5 and with the hebrew keyboard. doesn't happen with default SIPs.
whats te program you found to load the all the SIPs?
is it "SIPz"? (from the same maker of PQz).
I have the same problem with blue thooth and CoPilot I use. The software is iGo. I tried several roms, but after I switch off the GPS and switch it on, it always wants to pair with Uni again.

Thanks for the suggestion Steve, I have indeed paired the BT GPS receiver, created the outgoing port as COM4 (actually I also tried other available ones) and point TT6 to it. I have been using this BT GPS receiver for over 2 years with various devices including my good old HP iPAQ H4150. This problem didn't happen with my Universal's original Orange SPV M5000 ROM and it doesn't happen with Helmi's AKU 3.3/3.5 ROM either which is the main reason why I am using AKU 3.3 now.
I have this problem on JWright's i-mate AKU 3.2 ROM, my wife's HP iPAQ rw6828 (WM5 AKU 2.3), my friend's T-Mobile MDA Vario II (HTC Hermes, WM5 AKU 2.3).

No good solution and I am wondering if anybody else knows how to solve it. I have tried hacking the registry to make my additional SIP default and I ended up with my universal not being to boot until a hard reset. The work around is this SIPChange attached, basically you set which one you want as default, then every time you soft reset it loads that SIP automatically before it becomes impossible to load it.

I've not had the problem with either of the O2 ROMs, and Ivan's AKU3.5 test ROM - I haven't tried any other ROMs. I unticked the "secure connection" - not sure if that's relevant or not.
I found that only COM0 and COM4 seemed to be available for outgoing ports.
Before you go into TT6 - is the GPS device in the device list, along with the outgoing port set up correctly? Do you switch BlueTooth on and off? I have it on all the time - I'm just trying to think of things that might be different in our configs.
Cheers,
Steve.
I have both TT6 and iGO 2006 on my XDA Exec. The TT6 (and TT5 before that) always worked well with the BT-77 by simply pairing the GPS to the XDA EXEC on a COM port and selecting that COM port in TT6.
With iGO 2006, on the same XDA EXEC, it will ask to pair the BT-77 every time I launch iGO 2006. The only solution I could find was to use Franson's GPSGate to create Virtual COM ports for the BT-77 and to select this virtual COM port in iGO 2006.

Thanks for the advise, I have tried unticking "secure connection" as well and it didn't help.
From what I am gathering in the information supplied it looks to be caused by a combination of the BT GPS receiver, the WM5 and the Sat Nav software.
I can't remember what make and model my BT GPS receiver is because I bought it over 2 years ago and back then I didn't care what model it is. Now that I can't tell it from looking at the outside of this thing.
This is a wierd problem as with different combination of the GPS reciver, WM5 and software it may or may not happen. What I was having that problem using Tomtom 6 I tried the GPSInfo shareware and it didn't ask me to pair every time. Very strange, anyway I am alright now with Helmi's AKU 3.3 using COM5 as the port with my good old BT GPS receiver and TT6.

How to turn GPS on in Cingular 8525

hi everyone,
has anyone tried to turn GPS on in Cingular 8525 besides that '$10/month telenav'? 'coz if there's a way then 8525's GPS can be used with Google Map / Microsoft's Live search maps...
Many thanx in advance

Any one on GPS on Cingular 8525 ...?
Many Thanx, Jags
i.TrekM5+ Bluetooth GPS
I used the i.TrekM5+ Bluetooth GPS without a Problem in Live Search and Google Maps. Although the Live Search interface was much better.
Instructions on how to setup the device were included with the GPS Receiver manual, but consist on only pairing the devices and selecting the port that will be used for communication.
Then you go into the application and specify which COM port will be used.
I was using ATT 8525 (HTC) with Windows Mobile 5. I have just upgraded my rom to Windows Mobile 6 and haven't tried it out again.
I was looking for any way to bring WM6 to its full capacity, as ATT seem to have stripped a lot out of the OS.
Any suggestions?

Try newer Version of TomTom. The last Version working for the Artemis is TomTom 6.032.8351. On the HTC Support Page you can find TomTom 6.032.8320 under the P3600 Section.
Regards
Jabami
works for me, try 'other nmea receiver', 9600 baud rate, and com4
hope it helps
Ive used all sorts of roms including the now official Tmob uk one and never had probs. I always use tomtom 6.0.30 from HTC's website. I use an external bluetooth GPS (as its wired into the car) and also the Build in GPS all without problems.
When in doubt, get the stylus out (and had reset)

WM 6.1, S620, 1 GPS Unit, and running mulitple GPS Apps

Hello All,
I was wondering how Dash/S620 users running WM6.1 are able to achieve port splitting/sharing so that a single external Bluetooth GPS unit can be used with mulitpl GPS applications simutaneously.
GPSID does seem to be working for me on WM6.1, but it did on the WM6 TMO release. Any work arounds or alternate apps?
Thanks
Anyone have any suggestions?
