Hi all, for the last few months I have tried various Universal ROMs and even various WM5 phones including HTC and HP iPAQ, there are some commond issues which I haven't been able to figure out a permanent solution (work arounds are available though not ideal), these are:
- SIP (System Input Panel), if you install any additional SIP like SPB fullscreen keyboard, Monster SIP etc, every time after you soft reset the device, unless you load them up straight away, you will not be able to load them up after a few minutes (don't know exactly how long) until next reset!! This is a great pain, I have found a SIP changer program which automatically load a SIP after soft reset, but I will really love a permanent solution.
- Bluetooth problem with Tomtom 6 (TT6). With lots of AKU versions of WM5 (apart from Helmi AKU 3.3 I tried so far, haven't tried it with Helmi AKU 3.5 though so I can't be sure with that version) every time I start up TT 6 it asks me to enter the passcode to pair my BT GPS receiver again even though I have done it 100 times already!! Again I have seen this issue on other WM5 devices in addition to Universal so I am wondering if any one has a solution.
Thanks!

I've never seen this problem on either my Universal, or my friend's Wizard (which I set up for them).
I don't know if this is the "standard" way, but basically, I pair the GPS device (a BT-77 in our cases), and then setup an outgoing COM port to it, and then simply tell TomTom to attach to that COM port. In fact, I have two BT-77s, one set to COM0 in the car, and a hand-held one on COM4, and I can switch to my heart's content, and have never been asked to re-pair.
Cheers,
Steve.

I know many SIP can not be able load out. Did you solve this? or how to load them with permanent solution?

i've installed a hebrew sip but i dont have a problem loading it anytime i want.
although, sometimes i have a problem composing a new text message. the device gets stuck sometimes if the keyboard it not opened when i click "new".
happends only with helmi's 3.5 and with the hebrew keyboard. doesn't happen with default SIPs.
whats te program you found to load the all the SIPs?
is it "SIPz"? (from the same maker of PQz).
I have the same problem with blue thooth and CoPilot I use. The software is iGo. I tried several roms, but after I switch off the GPS and switch it on, it always wants to pair with Uni again.

Thanks for the suggestion Steve, I have indeed paired the BT GPS receiver, created the outgoing port as COM4 (actually I also tried other available ones) and point TT6 to it. I have been using this BT GPS receiver for over 2 years with various devices including my good old HP iPAQ H4150. This problem didn't happen with my Universal's original Orange SPV M5000 ROM and it doesn't happen with Helmi's AKU 3.3/3.5 ROM either which is the main reason why I am using AKU 3.3 now.
I have this problem on JWright's i-mate AKU 3.2 ROM, my wife's HP iPAQ rw6828 (WM5 AKU 2.3), my friend's T-Mobile MDA Vario II (HTC Hermes, WM5 AKU 2.3).

No good solution and I am wondering if anybody else knows how to solve it. I have tried hacking the registry to make my additional SIP default and I ended up with my universal not being to boot until a hard reset. The work around is this SIPChange attached, basically you set which one you want as default, then every time you soft reset it loads that SIP automatically before it becomes impossible to load it.

I've not had the problem with either of the O2 ROMs, and Ivan's AKU3.5 test ROM - I haven't tried any other ROMs. I unticked the "secure connection" - not sure if that's relevant or not.
I found that only COM0 and COM4 seemed to be available for outgoing ports.
Before you go into TT6 - is the GPS device in the device list, along with the outgoing port set up correctly? Do you switch BlueTooth on and off? I have it on all the time - I'm just trying to think of things that might be different in our configs.
Cheers,
Steve.
I have both TT6 and iGO 2006 on my XDA Exec. The TT6 (and TT5 before that) always worked well with the BT-77 by simply pairing the GPS to the XDA EXEC on a COM port and selecting that COM port in TT6.
With iGO 2006, on the same XDA EXEC, it will ask to pair the BT-77 every time I launch iGO 2006. The only solution I could find was to use Franson's GPSGate to create Virtual COM ports for the BT-77 and to select this virtual COM port in iGO 2006.

Thanks for the advise, I have tried unticking "secure connection" as well and it didn't help.
From what I am gathering in the information supplied it looks to be caused by a combination of the BT GPS receiver, the WM5 and the Sat Nav software.
I can't remember what make and model my BT GPS receiver is because I bought it over 2 years ago and back then I didn't care what model it is. Now that I can't tell it from looking at the outside of this thing.
This is a wierd problem as with different combination of the GPS reciver, WM5 and software it may or may not happen. What I was having that problem using Tomtom 6 I tried the GPSInfo shareware and it didn't ask me to pair every time. Very strange, anyway I am alright now with Helmi's AKU 3.3 using COM5 as the port with my good old BT GPS receiver and TT6.

Thank you so much! it work on my device.
hi everyone,
has anyone tried to turn GPS on in Cingular 8525 besides that '$10/month telenav'? 'coz if there's a way then 8525's GPS can be used with Google Map / Microsoft's Live search maps...
Many thanx in advance

Any one on GPS on Cingular 8525 ...?
Many Thanx, Jags
i.TrekM5+ Bluetooth GPS
I used the i.TrekM5+ Bluetooth GPS without a Problem in Live Search and Google Maps. Although the Live Search interface was much better.
Instructions on how to setup the device were included with the GPS Receiver manual, but consist on only pairing the devices and selecting the port that will be used for communication.
Then you go into the application and specify which COM port will be used.
I was using ATT 8525 (HTC) with Windows Mobile 5. I have just upgraded my rom to Windows Mobile 6 and haven't tried it out again.
I was looking for any way to bring WM6 to its full capacity, as ATT seem to have stripped a lot out of the OS.
Any suggestions?

You need to buy a reciever for gps on the 8525 then go in the registry and enable the gps option.
Does anyone know if these two can somehow be paired so that the Wizard can use the TomTom as a GPS unit as well as a BT speakerphone? I've been unable to find anything with either of the vendors. They pair together w/o issues as a hands-free setup, but I am coming from a WM2003SE phone to the newer WM5/6 units and just wanted to know if the GPS functionality is restricted to just certain receivers.
My current setup is:
Unlocked 8125 Wizard
Xplore 1.1 WM6 ROM
TomTom GO 910 GPS
Can any body tell me the best 6.1 cab to use tom tom on have trouble with bluetooth at the moment wont stay paired up.
Will consider using a 6.0 cab if this is the only way.
is there a fix
thank you
Had no problems with either Farias R-32 versions, and Schaps was fine too.
i found TomTom pretty good with pairing and finding bluetooth signals.
TNT 19999
Hy...
no problem with this rom.... i hope this notice can help you.....
If you need some other information cantact me!!!
Bye!!
there must be another problem, mabe with your bt-gps. Been flashing about 7 different 6.0 and 6.1 roms's the last few weeks and none of them heve instable bluetooth gps pairing and using.
i'm using a bt-gps and bt-stereo headset intensive together. listening to mp3, on the same time tomtom is telling directions, while on the background pushmail is bringing me new mail that i can read at the same time, being interrupted for incoming sms.
on top of that all an incoming phone call on my bt-headset will work, just as using a voice command to dial a number myself. and the mp3 player automaticaly pauses and restarts at the end of the phonecall.
tomtom keeps working.
just when ending a phonecall sometime the mp3 sound goes to the pda speaker instead of the headset.
Pays 6.1 ROM works with tt6 and bt.
My hermes kept droping out with TomTomon WM5 all the time, but since I switched to WM6 i never had a single drop.
For me WM5 > WM6 stopped all TomTom problems I had

hi Photoscuba, i have the exact same problems
First it wont pair properly (says that the key is incorrect).
Its there in the Bluetooth device list, so i open a com port for it then run my gps software, goto detect GPS but then i keep getting GPS reciver wants to pair with you message, as soon as i can answer yes or no, another screen will pop up saying the same
i have asked in several other threads if anyone else is having the same issues, but everyone elses seem fine.
i did read some where about all wm6.1 rom having problems with pairing when using the pass code 0000 (something along the lines of it sending a NULL or a single 0), but i cant find now. ill keep looking for it maybe someone has over come this, on a thread on XDA.
i use a HOLUX GPSlim240 receiver and it works flawlessly with wm6's
im using K's 1.3 at the mo
All these ROMS worked for me
I like to test new ROM and play around a lot.
I have tested Tom Tom 6 and my Bluetooth GPS on the following WM 6.1 ROM all worked.
Below are the ROM in the order i used them.
FARIA-R-32-CLEAN
TNT.19199_Professional_Hermes
CRCs_PHKv12r10
Binky11'sv3_3 - Great Clean ROM and i loved S2U2
PDACorner.V10 - New ROM i am testing right now
What map software and GPS units are everyone using?
maybe theres a incompatibilty problem with certain makes of GPS and wm6.1
im using destinator 7 and igo6 with a holux 240 GPSlim

Considering they are talking about Tomtom, I assume thats the software they are using....
yea, lol, shoulda seen that coming
but the problem seems to be the gps unit connecting or staying paired to the phone, so if there a list of bluetooth gps units that are working fine with wm6.1 then maybe see why some units wont connect
It all works fine on all the WM6's, so the change is in how wm6.1 handles it as far as i can work out
if theres a list of workin and non working GPS's then maybe i could see what the problem is
I wonder if the AGPS just is supported by wireless without any built-in chip.
If yes, dose my Artemis can be running with AGPS?
I don't believe Artemis has the AGPS function build in. As far as I know it hasn't got anything to do with upgrading WM to in example version 6.
