I bought an Artemis (standard package) a while ago and it shipped with Tomtom Navigator 6.020. I'd like to be able to know if there's a newer version of the software out, but so far, the only way I've found to be able to check this is through the TomTom Home desktop application, which doesn't seem to work with my Artemis's TomTom Navigator software.
Is there any page on the TomTom website where I can get Navigator updates (or at least check to see which version number is current)?
Also, I though I'd ask - 6.020 still is the most current version of Navigator, correct?
Although I don't own an Artemis a friend of mine does Tomtom home will function only if Tomtom is not running on the device.
One way to check for updates is either by GSM/GPRS/UTMS connection or when the device is connected via AS on a PC with an active internet connection. Go to Tomtom Plus services - Check for updates. Make sure you have a valid username and password for TT plus services.
My Artmis works good with TomTom home and yes, 6.0.20 ist the up-to-date-version
I have an XDA Orbit, I updated from Tomtom V5 to V6 today and works fine no problem, boots up a lot faster than TT5. Not sure why you have V6.020 , mine is V6.010 build (7720) which should be the latest?
By the way if anyone is upgrading from V5 to V6 maps, when it asks for which device you have pick MDA III if you don't you will only get V6 Maps, no TT6 Program.

Mike, I guess TOMTOM have done a special OEM bundle for the HTC P3300, I don't get the "Inbuilt GPS" option, I have to setup mine as "Other NMEA GPS reciever" Baud rate 4800 COM4,
Cheers
Nick
Just wondering why coz I recently bought tt6 and installed it on my S100 and the version says only 6.010 and when I try to update it tells me I've already have the latest version.
Latest version TT6: 6.010
Version on HTC P3300 is 6.020, which is 6.010 adjusted with the internal GPS feature
I have a HTC P3300 which came with the 6.020 however when hooked up to TT Home it advised me that there was an update. After i updated the vesrsion was 6.010.
Everything worked fine! I aclled Tom Tom US and they did not know that the latest version was. So what i did is a master reset and reverted to the factory setting to reapply the 6.020 since thyat one should be the latest version.
Cheers
TT6 should detect the internal GPS on the Orbit/3300/Artemis fine I know mine does, had the co-piolt got rid of it as it was crap and put TT6 on and works fine
Just need to work out how to load new voices onto it now
Kimbie
Simply use TT Home to load voices onto the card.
does the 6.020 version also add the ability to use the quick GPS function of the artemis which is greyed out on the 6.010 version?
I'm running a back-up version of 6.010 and it seems to work fine, although it does take ages to get a fix.

Hi, I run an Orbit I have QuickGPS which updates when I sync my Orbit with the PC, I also run TT v 6.010 , can you explain what is greyed out?
Cheers
I am in the same situation that the "quick fix gsp" is grayed out on both tt home and/or in my device.
Just for a test, can anyone post the files stored in the Navigator folder?
My quick gps on the HTC-P3300 is not grayed out. Where is the quick gps on the TT?

I think there is a bit of confusion on my part and maybe others it seems tomtom has a plugin similar or the same as "HTC QuickGPS" which essentially does the same thing when in TOMTOM, I cannot find it in my version? links below explains TOMTOM version.
‘QuickGPSfix’ http://www.tomtom.com/plus/service.php?ID=18&Language=1
I think but am not sure the "HTC QuickGPS" should help TT6 and other gps apps find the satellites quicker as long as the PDA is docked with activesync regularly or downloaded via GPRS? If I am wrong please let me know.
Cheers
Hi NickR,
Mine works exactly as you explained. I used the tweak so i could drain the battery while plugged in without charging. I have been told i should drain the battery every once in a while. I am in the basement phone is on with wifi and gps working flawless.

I'm confused about your statement because first you claim it works but then you ask where is it located. So how do you know it works if you don't know where to activate/deactivate it?
@NickR: what you say is true and seems to be designed only for non PDA/phone devices.
The quickGPS installed in my HTC-P3300 fine.
The one in TT i cannot find!
The "quick gps fix" in tt can be found when selecting "TTPlus Services - Download more" options. You'll have to have the device connected via AS or EDGE/GPRS/UMTS.
Appologies dicin, I didn't mean to be rude. I don't have an Artemis and would like to know what does the "quick gps" installed on your device do. Does it have the same function as posted by NickR (http://www.tomtom.com/plus/service.php?ID=18&Language=1)?

Have had my Orange SPV M2000 for the past month & neither TomTom support or Orange have been able to resolve:
TomTom Navigator 3 shows "GPS Disabled" at the Settings> System> GPS> gps> screen the device shows "TomTom Wireless GPS" in the top box & "Bluetooth GPS" in the box below. The large 'button' to their left is grey/blue, but it does not respond to selection.
Does anyone USE TomTom + TomTom Wireless GPS on their Blue Angel?
Having used TomTom on my previous XDA2 & SPV M1000 have tried EVERYTHING to get it working...resets, re-loaded TomTom, Bluetooth sees the TomTom GPS & works with my BT headset
Peter
I've had this problem with XDA2 and with a rom prior to SE.
Never knew why I couldn't enable TomTom Wireless GPS , but you might wanna try enabling a standard NMEA 0183v2 Bluetooth driver. It should/might work also.
Ever since i installed 2003SE I can enable TomTom Wireless GPS

It works fine for me with a Tomtom Bluetooth and Tomtom 3 on my XDAiis
Lots of questions, hopefully one will point you in the right direction -
1. Have you ued the updated version of tomtom and the tomtom GPS driver, the Blueangel is a WM2003SE device and will not work without the patch. v3.07 from tomtom download
Mine cam with 2 CD's, I installed Tomtom from the update CD with v307 and the maps/voices etc from the normal CD.
2. Does the GPS pair OK with yuor PDA, can you see it in the "Bluetooth Manager" as a device, can you conect to it from here
3. Have you tried running the standalone "GPS" application installed with TomTom rather than the full app, go to the HW tab at the bottom of this and ensure Bluetooth device selected and hit the tick button
4. Does the GPS unit work with any other applications like Navio from tiny stocks - they have a demo you can try
5. What colour and flash rates are the LEDS are on the GPS
If you cant figure it out post answers to the above Q's and I'll try and help
Cheers Wayne
Check the settings in the bluetooth manager to see which outgoing bt com port is in use. Mine was doing this until I checked this to see it was using com6. I then set the GPS second drop down box to com6 and all was well.
Also make sure you are using the latest Nav and GPS version from tomtom.com (v 3.07 I think).

As it just worked for me I'm stuck. Only other thoughts are:
Do you have any other serial devices or use GPSGate in use or are you using Bluetooth Activesync?
Try deleteing the device in the Bluetooth managher and re pair, I dont have authentication selected in the properties in the Bluetooth settings.
When I said try the GPS with a different application I meant on the Blueangel, Navio is another GPS program
Good luck
Does anybody know how to get the XDA EXEC to work with BT GPS
FGPXBT02 as I am really struggling to get this device to work. My phone can see the device in bluetooth but when I run TomTom 5 on the phone the program cannot see the GPS device in the "OTHER BLUETOOTH RECEIVERS" section.
Any ideas?
You probably already solved this, but if not. Make an outgoing port to the GPS in WM5 and select it in TT under the other GPS options. Let me know if you need more help.

And another thing, you will need TT5.21 at least, I believe
Mav
I guess. The TT5 CD's I had crashed instantly on Windows when I tried to install them. On the TT pages there is a workaround to get the map to a Win folder and then copy them over. Also the downloaded update installs nicely.
I'm kind of annoyed at TT, since I have the European maps and figured I'd only need an update for my region. Well the maps from TT5 mobile aren't compatible with TT6 so I'd lose all the European maps. And I think the complete update now gives you a 1GB map with all of Europe - I'd much rather just install the countries I need.
Hello,
I was planning to buy the HTC P3300 one of the main reasons is the build in GPS (which I want to use in my car). Is the build in GPS good enough to use in a car? I start having doubts when I saw a package offered with a external gps as well?
Thanks in advance,
Luigi
Of course it is usable in car. I had the p3300 gps (now the p3600 trinity gps). both devices have very good signal. So no external gps recommended.

Yep, works totally great. The Orbit has a very good GPS receiver, v. good at receiving signals, and the units volume level make it equally good for hearing the voices. I've used prevoius PDA's with an external GPS, but the Orbit does just as good, without all the hassle of extra leads.

Can anyone help me?? i have got the Artemis since 4 weeks, TomTom was pre-installed and worked actually, but couldn't find some maps for it. Therefore I removed the app and installed iGo 2006 and some other GPS apps. Now I cannot find TomTom and all the other apps throwing me the same "cannot find GPS receiver" message. Is there something wrong with the TomTom removing or there is some way I can tune the receiver to answer for the other apps.
Thanks in advance

In tomtom you have to select the Internal GPS receiver.
serch for settings in the other apps where you can select the GPS receiver.
It is connected to COM4 by default.
Yes, in TomTom you must go to the menu screen, select 'Change Preferences' then select 'Show GPS Status' then select the 'Configure' tab. Once your there select look for an option for 'Built In GPS Receiver' if it is there your done, if not you need to select 'Other NMEA GPS Receiver' set the GPS Baud Rate to 4800 then select the COM Port your GPS is on, usually COM4 by default.
Hi
I have the same problem, I've checked all the settings (tomtom and device)and they're correct but still Tomtom says no gps device.
I've just hard reset my device, is there anything I need to do?
I have a xda orbit.
edit: sorted, just me being stupid (as always)
Try with this settings
Try your mobile under system settings you can find GPS icon.
Check GPS program port is COM4 and Hardware port is COM3 with baud rate 4800 selected. Access tab click Manage GPS automatically
Once these settings are same as above try with your GPS software (TOMTOM or any other) with the GPS port as COM4 selected.
Please let me know if it works
Hi,
I have HTC P3300 with WM6. I have got pre-installed Map-King with the mobile. The Map King software is activated & registered as well.
How do i use this software? I do not have any external antenna installed. Quick GPS does downloads updates every 3 days. This software is not giving any real time data.
Regards,
Vinay
I dont know mapking but i gess is like any other GPS Software. You have an internal antena for GPS that works fine, so if your software, MapKing doesnt detect the GPS receiver open the gps settings and select the port COM4 and baud rate 9600.
Hope this helps. Have a nice day.

Go to "Programs" from start menu, you should see mapking icon,
Do you have the map files as well?
After a lot of searching on here I have found the info I needed and by trial and error I have got TomTom Navigator 6 working on my HTC Touch HD. I have TTN6 Western Europe HTC P3300/P3600/X7500 version on DVD. It has taken a few hours to get it running but it runs now. Others have mentioned time lag when using it, I have not tried it in the car yet and will do that tommorrow. But all looks swell.
There was also an issue with TomTom over me changing from my HTC3300 which I originally ran the software on. You can only change it from one device to another once in 6 months so don't register the new device with TomTom until you have it all running. I had TomTom Home 2.7 installed and had registered my HTC3300 and TTN6 with TomTom. I had to set up a new email account to register TTN6 on my HD. (more about that later)
The new TomTom Home 2.7 does NOT work until you have installed TomTom on the HD! I un-installed it an put the original TomTom Home 1.5 back on from the DVD to get this all working.
The WVGAFIX3 program (mentioned below) is essential but it limits all apps to running in the top two thirds of your screen with a black bar underneath. Also i have not tried to use landscpe whilst running TTN6 as the screen size is already larger than on my HTC 3300.
So this is what I did.
1. Go here and download WVGAFIX3 and install this excellent little app (Big thanks Cotulla) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=455974 and make sure you can get to it easily because you'll need to run it before TomTom starts up on your phone.
2. Use TomTom Home 1.5 (uninstall TomTom Home 2.7 if you have updated already). Plug in your HD and using TomTom Home install TTN6 onto the storage card whilst connected.
3. Turn your phone off then back on (or soft reset) and TomTom will try to automatically install.
4. Let it run through the process. (sorry but I cannot remember if TomTom then tries to start up after instalation) if it does start you will get a weird screen on your phone with the bottom half black and the top with a scrambled TomTom screen. (This is why to need Cotulla’s WVGAFIX3 program). Close TTN6 on the phone. (I pressed the “home” button and used the “close running apps” drop down)
6. Open WVGAFIX3 and choose VGA (480x640) BEFORE running TTN6. Run TTN6, it asks for you to register, I used "register automatically", and it asked for my TomTom Product Code. (it will be on the “credit card” that came with the DVD)
7. Once registered, go into “change preferences”, go to “show GPS status” and then “configure”. Choose other NMEA GPS receiver, select baud rate 115200, select com4. And that should be it as far as installation on the HD goes. (you don’t get the blue and grey bars in the GPS status window but the satellite numbers along the bottom go from grey to blue dots when registered). You will also see that the running programs now all only fill the top two thirds of the screen. DON'T forget to change back to WVGA (480x800) when you have closed TTN6.
8. I then went into TomTom Home and it said the phone was not “paired with/registered with” the details already in TomTom Home and asked if I wanted to update TomTom, I said yes and it sent info off. I’m a bit vague as to what steps happened here because I was beginning to get a bit p*ssed off. (But, I had to register a new email address with TomTom because there was some issue with having two devices on the same email logon when trying to use TomTom Home 2.7 initially).
9. Anyway, in TomTom Home 1.5 I logged in with my new email address and it said the phone was not registered with that account and did I want to update it. I said yes and it updated.
10. I then closed and reopened TomTom Home 1.5 and it said there was an updated version I chose to download and it updated to TomTom Home 2.7. I logged in using my new email details. When that ran it again wanted me to register the phone with TTN6 and TomTom so I said OK. and every thing seems to run fine.
I have not tried downloading new maps as I am happy with what I have at the moment. Also, I have not actually tried the SatNav in the car yet so I don’t know if there are any performance issues with the mapping and voices whilst on the move (all works fine in a static environment). Will use that tomorrow and see how it goes.
I hope this is of some use!
Stoobietoo
What is the difference with IGO8 and tomtom? I mean, why you install more applications to get it work, since igo8 works very stable with HD. I dont know if there is advantages of tomtom, didn't use it before. If there is some, please share with me.
Evan.
I just use TT7, works no problems
The main reason I posted this is that a few folks already have TomTom Navigator 6 and could do without being ripped off for TomTom 7 when 6 will actually work, (despite what TomTom tell you to try to make you pay again TomTom Navigator 6 WILL work with Touch HD!)!

Did you pay for your maps? If your maps are legit that is all tom tom worries about. I have used this copy and activated my maps with it to another phone by getting a code from Tom Tom. They didn't care about the program...just the maps.
Just go to GPS Underground, MOD EDIT warez link removed . They have everything you need for whatever device or version you have.
