Im running Binkys ROM on my ATT 8525 to start.
This problem just started last night and now is continuing even after ive reflashed an older version of the ROM on to my device. When using the keyboard while trying to type its giving me letters im not even typing?
Not on every letter but say when i hit the space bar it types a space and a period, when i hit T it automatically types 'tu' and the same when i hit the U key, G type GJ, J type JG, L type LP and so on and so forth... anyone else had this problem or know how to fix it? I just started out of no where last night for no reason at all?
any help would be greatly appreciated!

also for some reason now my active sync wont connect either. I know its not the cord because it works fine on my girlfriends phone but for some reason the computer wont recognize mine now.
I'd say reflash it with the stock ATT ROM and then reflash it with Binkys' and see if that helps.

Okay so ive been browsing this site for a few days, each day spending hours trying to find the solution to my issue. and i havnt found it yet.
***I bought this phone off somebody, it wasnt mine originally. already came with WM 6.1 and alot of other stuff***
my problem isnt that i want T9 texting instead of the predictive type(like mostly all of the ones i find)
my problem is that my phone is stuck in some hybrid qwerty/standard cell text entry. the pads that are grey (Numbers) are stuck assuming i want to type useing them as a standard cell. ( multi-tap)
but what i want is for the button to be used as its QWERTY. all the solutions involve downloading some keymap. but i already have done that, and used all of the Tegic ET9 keymaps. none of them change the text enrty.
then i find that im supposed to hold ALT and press space, well my ALT button appears to not work. so then that doesnt help either. thers no way i can find to get full QWERTY texting, which makes it annoying that it even has a full keypad that i can only half use.
does anyone see my issue? can anyone help?
is there a way to go back to predictive type and maybe that will bring back QWERTY?
okay, so after EVEN more reading and researching, i see that i can either try a remap (which im pretty sure i have tried) or reseting back to original ROM.
which i dont want to do really, because i kind of like the 6.1 build.
a new question i have is, if i upgrade to the 6.5 i see on this site, will that fix my problem?
is my ALT key broke? i see the same problem happened to alot of people, but i dont think that we can all have ONE similar broken key, resulting in the exact same problem. seems kind of... odd?
so yeah. if anyone could help, that would be awesome...

Hmmm... I know that in the ROM threads there are multiple posts of keymap files. Try using one of those.... If that doesn't work, then definitely do a reflash. Realize that you CAN go to the original ROM, and then go back to whatever you want, going back to the original may clear up some issues (or tell you if it is the ROM that is causing the problem.) ANother alternative is HARD-RESET, which is like flashing a new ROM, but not exactly, it just clears the memory to "factory default" (or just the basic ROM files that were originally installed)

okay, so im thinking of just trying these steps, tell me if this should work.
1. hard reset
- keymap/ xt9 and see if that works
2. rom downgrade to original
-see if that works with maybe the xt9
3. after downgrade, upgrade to 6.5
-with all the many fixes this should work?

oh and im just going to give my older sister this phone, she doesnt use phones to the extent that i do. so if i go to 6.5 would it be user-friendly for her? i still need to fix this text entry problem tho.

I have an AT&T Tilt 2. i have flashed many roms on it. i do task 29 then flash new rom. problem is, there are only two roms on this site that work completly, all other roms i have a problem with the end/home key not working when i read or look at a text or mms. the key works in all other tabs/ functions thou. i just want to see if i can find why this happens and see if i can fix it. the two roms it works fine with are "e2_ROM_25_20100320 and TPC v7_23544. all other roms ive tried i cant get the end key working. i have tried remapping the answer key for the end key function also to no effect. works just like the end key does. in text view no worky fine, all other tabs/ functions worky fine. anyone think they can help, i thank you!

Forgive the question, but just what is "task 29"? I've done a search and came up with tons of posts where it is mentioned, but none actually explain what the heck it is?
This is the first time I've heard the phrase used in the 2 years that I've been here. LOL!

Basically it clears your storage without flashing your ROM.
For the OP, it sounds like a driver thing. Have you tried asking in the specific ROM thread?

Many thanks! How the heck did I miss this??? LOL! I had tons of threads, most which were referring to "Task Manager", because it tagged the word "task" instead of the entire phrase (search is not a perfect animal), so I was way confused.
Seems I can't use this anyway due to my USB connection being all FUBAR. I have to use a BT USB to sync, so I guess I won't be doing much flashing until I get it fixed. Too much $$$ for me to do that right now unfortunately.
I will certainly subscribe to the thread for use down the road.

Yes, while I'm in sms or mms the end/home key does nothing. I only push that button to return to the home/today screen. i have ask in a rom forum that it was happing with and was told to try task 29. i do that already.
Any-one think they can help me? I have a new tilt2 and I still have my problem. I've tried all i can think of but I'm still new to this phone.
I think I've narrowed it down to HTC message itself. I've tried a few roms that had no HTC Message and the key works fine. Install HTC Message and the key no worky fine. I install HTC Message cause I like the way it looks and works, it being slow dont bother me. If someone knows of another messaging cab I could use instead of HTC's but looks and feels like HTC's, please tell me or give me cab to try. Thanks!
I gues I'm the only person with this problem, I've looked all over the net and this web site and see no-one with this problem. I dont know if its me doing it or my computers doing it to my phone, but even with a new tilt 2 I have the same results. i dont know how to cook or dump roms yet ( working on it ) but maybe, if some-one has the end key drivers or a regtweek or any other idea I could try, they could post it here for me to try.
Well,, I"ve tried and tried to fix this problem I'm having to no sucsess. I've Flashed a rom that HTC Messaging works on, gone through all the regisrty and settings and can't see any differance between one it works on and one it don't work with. I wish i knew more about coding and programing, but im not that smart. I have tried every way of flashing that I could come across on all of xda site. And like I've siad before, I have another tilt 2 so i dont think its my phone. I have redownloaded roms, task 29, factory flash then custom rom, redid HardSPL, all kinds of flashing combos but nothing works. I would really love to fix this but I'm at a loss. If any of you guys or gals can help me, please do!
I finallt got my wifi connections working by changing my security to wpa/psk so I got that sorted out.
Was wandering if a couple things worked.
1)Sound?? Any sort what so ever.
2)The light on the keyboard..Is there a way to turn it on( ) or is it just not working yet??
3) The number keys on my keyboard are just soooo out of wack..No numbers and the symols it put's out don't corrispond with the symbols on the keys themselves..Does that have something to do with the provisioning or is that not working as well??

You should definitely read thru the posts for everything you install first most devs tell you what works and what doesn't, but...
No sound in android for touch pro 2( meaning no matter what build of android you install, no matter who developed it atm there is no external speaker sound) other than in speaker-phone I think
Atm you cannot control your keyboard lights thru android, nor the hard keys you have on your phone, so make sure that both turn off before you run android off your SD card to avoid battery drainage.
As for the number key situation I have no idea, Im running 2.2 froyo by project android and I have no problems whatsoever with my keys...
and actually i just saw your forum siggy, if you have a tmobile touch pro 2 you need to get the fix for your keyboard. Search is your friend.

You need to read a bit more bud.
1. No
2. No (Turn it on before booting android and it will stay on 100% of the time while android is on but this is the only workaround currently)
3. Read up on FAQ about your startup.txt file. There is a cmdline that controls what keyboard you are using.

Anyway..Found out my problem with the buttons..I was thinking that the provisioning dealt with the network, so I installed the cab for AT&T..That one didn't work(keyboard issues) so I installed the T-Mo cab and it's all fixed. Works like a charm.lol
As for the keyboard light..Mine just works. I didn't think I turned anything on in WinMo prior to booting, and it works like it should(slide on/off)..or at least I think it does..lol

Can it be possible to connect the phone via USB connection (for instance to a Mac computer)? I want to install my own Android app and I tried to connect the phone via USB and it doesn't work. Is there other way to install apps?

just put the .apk in your andboot/androidapps folder, and when you use the update tool, before you choose run android, go to meu>apps and make sure you app is checked in the lil box next to it. to transfer it to your phone you could get a bluetooth dongle for your computer, transfer it that way, or upload it to a filehosting site.from your computer n then download it from your phone
ok so last night i did a hard reset on my Excalibur and ever since haven't been able to use my keyboard right. half works and the other half uses abc format. i have tried reloading my kavana rom twice and every time i get the same thing. texting is a ***** and im not sure what to do about it.
if you guys can help and use detailed instructions id appreciate it

Hi, while on text do the following FN + SPACE choose ABC. Please read the sticky and do a search , this has been addressed many times. On that note, thread closed.
Hey guys, i haven't ever really posted on here other than when i first got my TP2 months ago. Since then i have had 9 replacements for various things, all of which have been hardware related. Things like constant freeze-ups, always telling me i have un-read messages when i don't...anywhere. and some others but those two are the main ones. So i am asking you guys what do i need to do to stop myself from body slamming this phone across my living room? Every single phone i get has the un-read message problem. And after about a month of use they all constantly freeze. I can't stand having to do literally 8+ battery pulls a day because the phone doesn't want to work anymore.
Any ideas? What ROM are you guys all running and what seems to be the most stable? I have never upgraded a ROM before so i have no idea what i am doing there as i have always been a MAC user. However, i do have access to a PC. Any help would be appreciated.
EDIT: Another thing it does is when i get a call or text the phone will vibrate non stop until i turn it off and restart it. This also happens 2-3 time daily.

What version of TP2 -- e.g, T-Mo USA, Verizon, World-Wide/Euro -- do you have?

The things that you mention are not hardware problems but software. So they can be solved by flashing a new rom. I suggest you read the how to flash for noobs thread.
Try a valkyre rom and read the last pages of that thread to see if there are issues etc
A new ROM may very well help sort out your problems, but the excessive problems you have been having make one wonder if there is not some other issue. So before you go to flashing a new rom, it might be a good idea to do some troubleshooting first to try and narrow down the problem.
First, a few questions:
1)What UI are you using? (i.e., Touchflow 3d, Sense, SPB Mobile Shell, Titanium, Classic today?)
2) What programs are you installing?
3) Are you doing any registry edits? Or using custom programs that do registry edits for you? (Things like configuration tools that you installed)
While answering the questions may shed some light on why you are having problems, here is the first thing I would try that could help narrow down the issue:
1) Dissable any custom UIs (start -> settings -> today -> items tab -> select Windows default -> hit OK) then soft reset your phone. Use it for a day and see if any of the problems go away, then report back.
I've got some other ideas, but will hold out on those until looking at your responses to the others above... good luck.
Hey guys and thanks for the replies. I am on a Verizon TP2. Running the stock HTC Sense ROM that came on my last replacement. I do not have anything custom running on the phone and only have 2 apps on the phone itself (facebook and personal assistant). I have given up putting them on there since i have been replacing the phone so often. Problems are still happening.

Have you tried yet dissabling sense and running for a day to see if there are any improvements? If that doesn't work, I would move on to a hard reset, then disable Sense, and see if it is better. If it was, I would re-enable sense and dissable the email and sms tabs and see....
Meanwhile, I would also be reading the newbie guide to flashing new roms... as it is really odd to be seeing these sorts of problems with nothing installed on the phone.
I am correct that you haven't installed the facebook and personal assistant programs since your last hard reset? I only ask because the product description for the personal assistant looks like it is somewhat invasive into your phone (i.e., it can track minute use and such) and could possibly be the culprit for some or even most of your issues...

ur previous statement says your a mac guy. what a re you doing with a windows phone? thats just a recipe for disaster.....
try flashing to an NRG rom. I personally have been using cookie energy for months and never had any problems. this may be a lil too complicated for a "mac" user tho.
