Go to the official HTC site and download your 6.1 update. I just checked it out and the downloads there. I'm about to install the rom and see how everything is. I'm not sure if it has gps or not (fingers crossed)

Hey A1jatt... definatly right. I've been messing around trying to get the telus link to work, putting telus in where bell is more or less and changing the BM to TELUS. No luck though.
I called the tech support line but its not in service so I emailed, I dont expect a responce for a few days as most support emails take that long. I asked if they could fix the link, understanding that it takes some time to update websites in the meantime could they email me the rom directly? ALSO is this update the anticipated GPS update like the altell users got.

Where did you get this information? The Bell ROM update page on HTC simply says:
The software upgrade posted below provides several key enhancements for your HTC Touch (Bell):
Improves Bluetooth performance, eliminating the need to re-activate Bluetooth after device resumes from suspend state.
Eliminates issue where device freezes in certain situations.

For the update. Doesn't state anything about 6.1 or anything else. I'm with Bell and not sure the ROM update is worth it, if it's not at least 6.1 with GPS and the other features.
They cleared the telus upgrade page.
The link was bad on the telus update page. I tried calling their support line to at least report it but the number was out of service so I emailed and asked about the rom, if someone could fix the link and if that was going to take a while to just email me the rom if possible, as well as asking if this enabled the GPS antenna.
I couldnt sleep (its 3:30 am) and just checked the site... well now the page is completly empty. It aparently was easier to wipe the page clear as opposed to just linking to the right rom.
At least we know what to look forward to with the rom when they fix all of this. Rev A, WM 6.1 and I can assume.. but could be wrong... but GPS or AGPS since Telus navigator would use this. Although I think thats a subscription based program I'm not sure. I use tomtom and navigon so... yeah... Hopefully soon!!!
I assumed that since the link was the bell rom that they would be similar but you're right, the bell rom says nothing about rev a or WM 6.1. So the telus rom must be way better. I cant for the life of me imagine that Bell would let Telus get away with updating their phone to be way better then theres though so bell must have one in the works as well to to be released soon
The "Bell" update is linked again on the Telus page...
The same file is also linked in the Bell section.
I tried it. I got the expected "ERROR [294] INVALID VENDOR ID"
Don't bother yet.
Wait... it's been removed AGAIN.
Now they have changed the download link again (as well as the graphic on the page showing device settings) but the link is to the Telus P4000. This is silly...
Why not just browse the server from now on, to see when they actually add a telus section...
http://216.139.227.226/
Shows Alltel, Bell, and Quest at the moment.
Because that is only one location where they put the files - for instance the Telus P4000 rom update isn't at that location. That file is located at http://member.america.htc.com/download/Software/Telus_HTC_P4000_WM6_07252007.exe
EDIT: Nevermind - I just realized that member.america.htc.com resolves to that IP. However, the folder indicated in that link is a virtual directory and not navigable seemingly.
I was at a telus store on Friday (the 6th) and one of the salespeople told me that there will be a ROM update within 60 days. She said it will be rev a, and windows mobile 6.1, she was a little iffy on GPS. The info is on their dealer site, not on the general telus mobility site.
Just an update. I have gotten about 3 emails from HTC in regards to the telus update. They'll be fixing the problem shortly. Thats about all I got out of them. As I figured no exact date but it WAS supposed to be up on friday or whenever it was that I had saw it. It was just a linking issue for whatever reason. If you go to the website it doesnt even show the software/upgrade download button anymore. So they must be doing something. Its been up and down for the better part of the weekend. I'm thinking another day or so. I've saved the link in my phone so that I can check it while on my job sites so I know I can look forward to flashing once I get home. I guess we'll find out about the GPS as soon as its actually posted. I'm really hoping it isnt another 60 days.

I got a similar promise from my salesman back in December. Among other lies, he had promised I'd see an update in Q1 and that it would enable Rev. A, GPS(unlikely), and WiFi(impossible). Fact is, the salespeople aren't normally given information about software upgrades until they're actually released. Perhaps your guy has another source, or has made a guess. My guy straight-up lied.
So, I suggest you call his bluff. If in fact there is no update in the next 60 days, call customer service. Your guy was probably right, though so just keep this on the back-burner.
In my case, Telus has agreed to exchange my phone for any other windows mobile phone, at the time of my choosing, regardless of price. They even suggested that I wait for their new batch of phones to come out this summer. I don't know if you'll get a similar offer, but I can promise you they'll at least offer some free features.
As for GPS in the update, Telus Navigator has been mentioned in some of the documentation and in a couple of my emails with HTC and Telus. That's a subscription service, but it does mean the GPS portion of the chip is active... we'll probably have to do some tweaking to be able to use it with other programs.

Latest update from o2......i emailed yesterday:
"Apologies for asking a question that you are no doubt sick of answering, but are you able to give an estimated release date of the WM6 rom update package for the XDA orbit?
As well as having one personally – I am currently organising a large number of the units within the company and would prefer to update the software prior to doing so.
Any guide at all would be very welcome, and again apologies for asking."
And the reponse today?
"Good Afternoon
Thank you for your e-mail.
There will be a ROM upgrade available very shortly, which will provide WM 6 functionality.
Unfortunately we have no exact timescale, but we would advise to keep checking our Xda web site www.my-xda.com as from the start of next week.
Sorry we cannot be more precise with our answer, but if you have any further enquiries, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Presumably if you remove the custom set-up, you have to configure all the GPRS and MMS settings ?
If you have already run the custom set up and then remove it, would those settings remain ?

1) No it doesnt remove the settings and
2) correct, they stay.
Well for me they did anyway.
But there is a program "O2 Operator settings" on my Orbit, that can not be deleted by uninstalling it through remove programs as its not listed.
It sets up the settings on a hard reset and can be run again incase of emergencies.
Not looked at unlocking the extended rom but I dare say it is in there and could be extracted and kept.
there is a file that will do your settings for you.
I've not managed to find that o2 file that does it all for you - maybe my search skills are weak !!!!!!!!

Should work, let me know if it does or not, if it does I will upload it to the ftp server.
Was in an 02 store today, my orbit wifi wasn't working for the 3rd time. told them i was fed up with it. then told the assistant that on the forums it says that wm6 improves wifi reliability and when this was going to come out. he said he didnt know when it was out. he then rang 02 customer services and asked they said they didnt know. i then told him i am cancelling my contract as they were breaching the terms. he then rang another number and after about 5-10 mins, comes back, and says it is due to be released on the 24th of july or sooner. i then left with a brand new perfectly working orbit.
so wait it out!!!
just emailed again
..asked them if they could give any more clues....i'll post the reply when it arrives.
However, do we really need the official o2 rom when B&B 3.7 offers so much more.
I'm gonna give it a try - but i'm guessing it will miss the boat
Add touchflo to 3.7 and I probably won't even bother TRYING the o2 rom!!!

NOTE: WinMoSquare does require the latest version .NET Compact Framework 3.5. If you do not already have it installed on your device you may download it from here.
What's next? They need any and all feedback you can provide us. Please send it to [email protected]. They goal is for WinMoSquare to be the best application for Windows Mobile and we will definitely need everyone's best feedback to make that a reality.
Thanks,

Doesn't work without GPS active?
Hi folks,
just downloaded this and it appears that it does not work if you do not have a valid GPS signal.
Is this the case? Would it be possible to use cell tower data as an approximate, as per Google Maps?
Cheers,
Cam
Even with a valid GPS signal it does not work. WinMoSquare shows me a valid GPS signal but I'm geeting the same error message like in the post before.
I think the functionality should be like the web browser loggin. Check in with a venue and the address of it. And with this you don't need a valid GPS signal.
Intermediate GPS driver required!? NO THANKS. I don't need any other GPS drivers installed, no.
I cancelled the install and I get a crash when I try to look at the GPS settings.. I guess they're determined to do their "own thing" with GPS? Dumb.
Okay so either the new version doesn't need this intermediate driver nonsense, or it works without it. So far seems okay, haven't "used" it yet though.
Just an FYI that I emailed Touchality about: I signed up for the Alpha and Beta testing. The WinMoSquare.cab in the emails they send per build never works for me. It simply adds a .tsk theme.
Downloading the updated .cab in this thread has worked for me. Thanks.
well, I've been using this for two days now on my Fuze with NRG's latest ROM. I emailed them about not being able to update if you don't have a valid GPS signal, If I'm in a bar, I usually can't get a solid signal, so that kinda defeats the purpose... however, when I can get a signal it works very well... until then I'm using the mobile webpage with foursquared... which to me sucks, because I signed up mainly to try out this software. bummer
i like the app,
but it would be a lot better if you can find the location from the gsm when the gps is not present. This will be a very good app.
if I can help for testing let me know.
It works, needs to be faster
App works well, a few random crashes.. works about 95% of the time, slow loading up and slight delay changing between screens. Sometimes has trouble getting a gps signal, no way to tell it to try again or if it's actively trying to acquire one. It typically works better if you open Google Maps let it get gps signal then close Google Maps then open WinMoSquare.
Device: AT&T Tilt2 (HTC Rhodium / Touch Pro 2)
ROM: AT&T Stock WinMo 6.5
they've updated the app, and now it will try cellid to get a location. doesn't always work, but at least it's an improvement. still using it, but not a huge foursquare user...

Are you getting updates from them? Could you or someone post the latest?
yes please! an updated cab would be great if any new versions/developments have been made. Signed up for beta testing on site but no email so far.
Thanks!
i would also like to try the newest beta. im using my winmo devices more than my hero and the lack of a working foursquare is annoying.
I haven't seen any thread on what people have noticed from the update. So it would be nice if people who have updated to 8107 could comment on what sorta fixes they've noticed besides the dissapearing keyboard/stuff on the changelog. Any speed improvements? Also, does the gmail issue fix the server search? I've been waiting a log time for that fix
My Titan is louder! especially with microsoft tell me and navigation instructions.
Also it seems snappier and either ATT upped our internet it this area the same night, or my browser seems faster (full foxnews or cnn in about 2 seconds... note not mobile versions)
Text word prediction also seems to have gotten very accurate. Like it was back in the pre nodo days. (it seemed less accurate especially after mango)
Anyone else see anything new?
i have an ATT titan as well, im just a little hesitant to update it. What happens when the official update comes out? Also, have you ever noticed the problem where if you send multiple messages in a chat application or maybe even text messages, the last word from the previous message gets repeated in the new message? I hope thats gone too
Yeah im waiting for att to push this update next week. Not doing the manual update
Sent from my T8788 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
I haven't seen anything new jump out at me so far after installing 8107 last night. Maybe it's all in my head, but everything does seem a split second faster and more responsive too. I did have a problem earlier this evening where a text message started coming in and then my phone got permanently stuck in airplane mode. I had to reboot to get airplane mode to finally turn off.
I did the manual update on an ATT TITAN. Seems snappier somehow to me as well, but it might be wishful thinking.
I am not that worried about wanting to take a different path once they release since I can just restore from backup and then take the update.
If I notice anything substantial I will post back tomorrow.

8107 on Focus S
I went ahead with the update. My notes:
Keyboard no longer disappears, but keyboard lag that plagues the Focus S is still there (it might be better than before - I'd gotten used to it and now I only notice the lag during high speed typing).
Overall system performance feels the same; that is, still fast.
I don't connect to Exchange so I can't comment on the fix that was supposed to happen in 7740.
I do not have either the 3G toggle or the ability to sync with a carrier time clock. Both options might be device or carrier specific (I haven't run the Samsung utility).
When someone mentioned their device seems louder, it made me realize my phone is louder too - my system sounds have been louder, notably the sound when you charge it and reminders. Music and call volume through headphones and bluetooth are unchanged. I think Mango quieted system sounds (which I liked), and now this update has returned them to pre-Mango volume level.
I haven't tested the so-called SMS bug (because I don't want to hard reset my phone if it isn't fixed).
My guess is this release won't be sent out to all users, only users of devices or on carriers where the fixes are appropriate. I bet when they fix the SMS issue, they'll force a cumulative update. I hope that's soon.

How would you do that? The combination of characters to cause this bug hasn't been revealed yet, has it?
At least I hope it hasn't.
But according to a tweet by Tom Warren (who was apparently involved in uncovering this bug) has confirmed that the bug has not been fixed. Also this version (8107) is from early December before the SMS bug was made public.

If Google "fixes" that (fixes = implements), then yes... This is not MS's problem. Google does not offer Exchange. What they offer is some wannabe implementation of exchange that doesn't support server-side search. They provide it just on Android - and only in their proprietary application. Nor iOS, nor WM can do that either.
Gmail server search has always worked on my old iPhone.

Music is different. I can't put my finger on it but it's not louder, but i guess on my higher quality songs i got from zune, it seems clearer on my titan. Also no click between songs.
Is it just me or do the live tiles seem to start moving faster as you get to them?
Also does your browsing on the internet (using desktop mode) seem faster? Mine does.
More snappier. Performance
more typing accuracy.
slightly , but very slight battery life improvement
WiFi seems slightly faster now.
Te keyboard disappearing problems seems to be solved.

Hello this is VisualTech48, and today im bringing you some great news!

our phone soon. We have been waiting for this for a couple of months, and its finaly coming out this month!
The new WP8 GDR2 update will bring many new features to our phone. I'm exicted, are you?
Quote of text wicth is possible comfiriming that the update is coming to our phone:
"...The carrier just updated its chart of current and upcoming smartphone
software release. This now includes GDR2 for not only a couple Nokia
models, but the HTC 8X and 8S, as well..."

Here is the list of some features:
Full list can be found here: http://www.windowsphone.com/en-US/how-to...
Xbox Music. It’s now easier to select, download, and pin music.
Plus, music fans will see more accurate metadata(such as song and album information)
and many other performance improvements.
FM radio. Listen to FM radio right from the Music+Videos hub.(I'm not 100% sure our phone will get this,
I will have to check with HTC or Microsoft.)
Data Sense. Stay on top of your phone’s data usage with Data Sense. You can set a limit
based on your data plan, or just keep track of which apps use the most data.
(Not all mobile operators offer Data Sense.)
Internet Explorer. Your web browsing experience is now better than ever with improved
HTML 5 compatibility.
Skype. Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) apps like Lync and Skype now feature improved
stability and performance.
Camera. Set your favorite Lens so it opens automatically when you press the camera button.
(Not comfirmed for our phone!)
And many more improvements.
Thank you for tunning in with this update. Hit that Thanks button if you like this post

Works for me greatly!
:good:
Anyone else get the update??
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using XDA-Developers mobile app
It's installing now. Any idea what is new/updated in this?
got the update biggest change was wifi calling not sure what else
Just got mine used and updated it today. Saw the wifi calling but didn't read the rest, I did notice mine was on the May security update and now it's on the July update so could be that.
They also removed all traces of the Oculus software that was originally on our devices. So no chance of getting VR support for these devices in the future then
wifi calling now available (eg wifi-only calling, BUT no wifi-only messaging so thats kinda stupid...)
activity zone 'compass mode' with 'map mode' (which never worked, only said 'google services is updating' removed
advanced messaging (separate balloon per text/attachment, and 'xxx is typing' is new)
Great news! The recent update 8/11/2016 fixed the dpi error we were getting. I was able to successfully change my dpi using the display scaling app. View attachment 3839483

I checked on the official site (which just recently added the phone on the site, as I've been checking often), and they don't have any info on updates or anything posted yet.
So far I noticed: WiFi Calling and Messaging, Message Scheduling (Don't think I noticed this before), Security Update, Removal of Oculus (the setup for the full Oculus Software), Advanced Messaging for AT&T customers, and Text Counter.
If we see anything else, I'll add to this, or we can hope for release notes/ change log
Anyway i can update this without att sim? Im using cricket
Should be able to
I have the s7 active and the battery life is OK not great but ok and the update installed WiFi calling and text messaging works on WiFi
The only times I've ever had good battery life on any Android device were and continue to be from custom roms and kernels. No stock rom including stock nexus roms give me good battery life. That being said, my used S7A is actually not too bad for everything stock without root and it had better with such a big battery.
Anyone one having problem with mms video being blurry when sent to another phone. I know it's not the carrier att because my wife has an iPhone 6s and it sends the same mms video perfect. Picking brains not noses

That is likely due to compression in the SMS client you're using. I don't know what AT&T's limitations are on file size for MMS, but I do know third-party SMS apps allow for tweaking of that. I use Textra currently, and can set a max upload/send size in the options. I know other SMS apps have similar functionality, but I doubt the stock one does.
Another update today, looks to be only security fixes for Aug. I'm actually surprised they released it IN Aug and not months down the line. Lol

Hello,
I live in Korea and not an AT&T carrier user. So, I have never received AT&T's OTA.
I tried to connect my Galaxy S7 Active to Samsung Smart Switch, but Samsung Smart Switch says my phone's firmware is the newest version.
My phone's baseband version is G891AUCU1APE7, and build number is MMB29M.G891AUCU1APE7.
Am I unable to update my phone forever?
I want to update my phone's firmware.
I desperately need your help...
