Pantech Duo modifying - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Hello, Hopefully I've come to the right place this is my first time.
I see you guys do alot of work with the HTC phones so im hoping you can kind help me out here with something similary but not quite
I've got a pantech duo, and the sound clarity on them is meh okay at best really. I've seen alot of good registry edits for increase Radio Bandwidth on Verizon phones with WM6 and was wondering if anyone was family with what to try and tweak in the registry.
The Volume is plenty high, at least i think but the sound sounds like its a little washed out. They managed to improve it with a Radio Rom update but Im trying to see if theres anything in the registry to try and tweak my self. But IM new to it so, Im somewhat clueless hence why i asked the experts.
Thanks alot! hopefully you can help!

Can anyone help?

Could Anyone help?

Hiya everybody!
I would love if someone could give me directions on where I can get good ROMs for flashing my brand new Artemis...
I'm brazilian, but I'm looking for a ROM in english with the best functions that people could get together....
I'm totally new to modding in here, tho I'm sorta pro in modding Motorola's MotoMING phone (my last one)
So if anyone could help me with directions of a newbie guide, I'd be glad....
I could write a newbie guide myself later on....when I lose the newbie status LOL
Check here for tips http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=362
There are also quite a number or ROMs in there too.
Although I would definately recommend this one.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=365312 .. great speed, very light so you can add all your own apps and customize it how you like. Generally speakingm, after flashing alot of ROMs to my Orbit, I tend to stick with Meschle's ROMs and usually stick to his latest Vanilla. Although as I say there are alot of others, depends what your looking for from the ROM.
Any other questions Id be glad to help. I also have quite a collection of prgrams n customiations n stuff if your looking anything.
Thanks a lot for the hand!
It surely will come handy! I got the USPL to go over the CID locking system....
The carrier problem can be solved by the carrier itself, at least nowadays.....
To tell the truth, I'm in need of some tutorials on the best programs to have, what kind of stuff fits well in it...
I work with game design, and I'm starting to develop on python....I was wondering if there is anyway to run python programs in it too...
Last but not least, how much knowledge is necessary to work with Artemis?!?!!? LOL
Hmm unfortunately I dont do programming n such, i think you probably be better off asking those questions in the artemis developement / hacking section
If you were to develop Pocket PC applications, you may use eVC (free) or VS2005/8 (more expensive)
No idea about pythons.
How much knowledge? Probably nothing or as much as it is needed to read english. All you need is to experience and experiment to learn.
Regards,
Carty..
@fubofo
Thanks for answering again, man! I know that not everyone is a fan of programming stuff....
I got the ROM you said you were using and I'm gonna flash it today...hope it works and I don't end with a 15 hundred bucks brick....
@Carty
When I said knowledge, I ment time spent studying stuff made for it and etc...but still the ability to read english is way too complex for some people in my country....
I'll take a look at the eVC and see what can be done in it....
I have Eclipse's SDK and Visual Studio 2008 here....any of them is good for it?

HTC Diamond CDMA Rom/Manila selection

I have been looking into buying an HTC Diamond from Telus, but have kept hesitent due to a few major reasons: poor phone quality, reception, and dropped calls, and sluggish, slow interface.
Browsing the web for feedback and solution, I found an ad on the web offering to update the ROM which would improve in these areas. The person said it would turn diamond from triband to quad band, significantly improving reception, increase the speed of the pda, and the other interesting options. The only problem with that was that he was charging $100 dollars to do this. Thankfully, I discovered this forum, so now there is hope that I can tweak the Diamond. But it seems there is not one definite rom update, but a few. So my question is, do they all provide the basic features of increasing the processing/ display speed, and reception on top of other customized features, or is there a particular one the dude could have been talking about.
I really like the look of this phone, and it will be my first PDA. I don't want to get into some **** though on a 3 year contract. I am not noobish when it comes to these things; in fact, i enjoy messing around with my phone and computer -- customized both quite suitably.
If anyone has a ROM in mind that he or she uses very successfully, is very satisfied, please post it here and link the specs. Any advice, recomendations are welcome. I don't care much for music player, got an iPod, but compatability, accessibility, speed, reliabbility, and battery are very important. Naturally I am not looking for a mini laptop, so the phone aspect comes foremost important. Basically, I am trying to avoid restarting it every 10 minutes, rebooting, all that, which will just add on to the stress.
I also noticed some talk about Manila. What is it exactly? Is it just a theme, or something more. Well, any help is sincerely valued. Thank you.

Hello.
It seems to me you have a lot of reading to do and a lot of catching up.
Bear in mind that all of us in here clearly take the risk of loosing warranty, since all the roms are home made and not official from htc. This means that it is solely your responsibility if something goes wrong.
I respect the fact that you are not noobish but for PDA stuff treat yourself that you are noobish and read from scratch ( friendly advice to avoid probs)
If you want a suitable rom for you it comes down to you and only you to take the risk and start trying what is availlable.
No one can tell you what is suitable for you and if it will work or not etc etc., quality and functionality is totally subjective
I repeat that if you want to try you must get used to the fact of warranty is void with these roms.
So lets begin.
1. understanding what you do is important so here you are: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=416211 THIS IS THE BIBLE
2. Roms: look in the forum for the varius roms, see the specs, progs, if you like it try, if not, try another one
keep in mind the above link. read it carefully if you do not want to end up with a bricked device. follow instruction carefully
Finally, i have been flashing roms for a year now in 3 htc devices i have come across and never ever ended up with a brick, however, no warranty.
and again there are ways to get the device back to original state for warranty reasons, you will get there in the forum, but get to know the stuff well and understand them befor you do anything.
Lastly, always read before you ask since most what you need, there is an answer in here.
I hope i have helped you as much as i could and i hope you will get your device up and running with the stuff in here, thanks to the amazing hard work and knowledge of the members/senior members/mods/admins/cooks etc (i hope i have not left anyone out )
Greetings
Keep in mind that *almost all* of the ROMs available here on the diamond forum are for the GSM version of the diamond, NOT the CDMA version (which is what the TELUS model is). Good luck with you research.

Suitable for a new WM User ?

Hi
I am new to Windows Mobile phones and I am not a techie so won't be doing anything like re-writing the software on the phone.
All I want is a phone where I can view the real internet as opposed to the mobile internet, send and receive emails on hotmail, and call and text and using the calendar and appointments and reminders.
The internet is the main thing I will be using it for on an unlimited data contract. Unlikely to be using wifi much, but maybe.
I love the look of this phone and the keyboard but will it be too advanced for someone like me or is it easy enough to use straight out of the box, and will it do what I need without having to customise it ?
Many Thanks
Si
Hi Si,
Welcome to the forum
The device is simple enough for most anybody to use, the Touch Flo system takes a little bit of getting used to (but you have instructions in your manual) and here to help explain what is where and how to use it.
In comparison to most mobiles, the Touch Flo system is probably an easier interface than most to navigate around and find what you are looking for.
I would highly reccomend it, you won't be dissapointed, and we are all here to help and answer any questions you have.
Chrs,
Beasty
Thanks Beasty.
Thanks for the welcome.
This seems quite a friendly and helpful place. I am definitely going to get this phone. With all the info on here, who knows I may eventually get adventurous and start changing things on the phone.
Is it worth waiting for a later release as there seem to be a few people with niggling problems from what I've read so far, or will these things only be sorted with software updates from HTC, so no point in waiting ?
I apologise now for all the stupid questions I am probably going to ask as I use this place more.
Si
Hi Si,
Chances are that most of the small issues reported, can and will be resolved with software updates (most likely here before HTC do)
As with all new devices these days, it's highly unlikely with the very small number of reported issues that there will be an update to either the hardware or software at any point in the future.
To be perfectly honest having been an HTC user since their Wallaby, this is in my opinion one of (if not THE) only device that I can truly say I am happy with out-of-the-box.
That doesn't mean I won't do my best to improve things as much as I can though.
Cheers,
Beasty
You will find that most software problems are sorted out on here before HTC get around to it. There are some VERY clever and dedicated people on here who give a lot of their time to bringing the best out of their devices, and then they share it with the rest of the great unwashed (that's us btw)
The beauty of the windows based phones is that they are almost completely customizable once you get the bug, even flashing custom ROM images is a breeze (with a bit of care)
I was a bit put off by the size and weight of the TP2 until I did a bit of research and found it is smaller overall than my old Vario (which I regret getting rid of) so it looks like I will be ordering soon!
im new to WM and out of the box its switch on and go, you only need to get under the bonnet if you have a need to or a intrest too
get one you will not regret it
and to think i nearly went for the N97
Thank you
Hi Beasty
I took your advice and received my new TP2 today. WOW !!!!!!
Thank you for convincing me.

increase (or change) the volume

hello I wonder if, like the iphone, we can increase (or change) the volume limitations for the french phones because it is too low with a helmet compared to my old iphone.
Sorry for my english I'm a french man
+1
We really need to raise the volume, now we have the kernel it should be possible
Thats great to hear (pardon the pun)
Yes i loved too, because the volume it's to low....

For now it's not possible. I helped out Meltus a few weeks ago and scoured through every file on my Desire for the files he needed for volume modification. Unfortunatly, didn't find anything and neither did he. So for the time being, we're in the same boat as N1 owners.
Desire have different hardware than Nexus, incl the audio chip. So more effort will be needed for achieving some moods.
Yes, but as far as I understand the problem, it can't be edited on the fly like we could with the dream/saphire mods. It looks like there may be some hope in editing the actual kernel itself, but so far I believe this has only been experimented with on an N1.
If anyone wants to poke around inside the Desire kernel to see if they can get the same results, here's the link to an N1 how-to I found.

i hope there is a solution because the sound it's too bad ((

so what can or will we be able to do with temp root?!

ok guys im still rocking the g1. i have been ready for an upgrade for quite some time but havent seen a phone ive really liked. i have monster hands and would love a keyboard which is the only reason i dont have an n1 but with the difficulties there having rooting the g2 i might reconsider.
first off im not extremely tech savy. i have a+ but anyone who knows what it is knows its not that advanced, but i can atleast understand and follow instructions. so with this great forum and people who make things easy like cyan im not worried if things on the g2 might be a litle more complicated.
my question is IF they for some reason cant get permanent root or it takes a while to do so, what can't we do other than custom roms with the temp root we have now?
can or will we be able to have tether and cpu clock adjustment? i know i can change kernals and run higher oc on my g1 will things like that be possible on g2? can we delete the crapware?
hopefully this will help out some others wondering the same thing. like i said im no programmer but can follow instructions and even mess with linux in my spare time so things like formatting sd cards with ext etc. is not a big deal i just want to make sure if i get this phone im not going to hate life lol any help or info is greatly appreciated and please add as much things we can and cant do as you can think of so everyone can get an idea... hopefully it wont be a problem but im ready for one NOW and hoping you guys can ease my mind

great thanks man. what about oc? im well aware at 800mhz it outperforms most of the 1gz phones out there and will be great on the battery, but it would be nice to see what the new cpu can do with the smaller 45nm design...
