I have an xda orbit it was working fine until a couple of weeks ago. When I switch on it displays the welcome screen then just fades to a blank white screen, then it wont switch off with the on/off switch I have to disconnect the battery. Can anyone out there help please?

***Please, please help, new user***

Hi everyone,
I have recently purchased an XDA2i from O2 and have an ongoing problem.
The unit has been exchanged once already as the original was thought to be the cause.
The VERY annoying problem is that my XDA keeps turning itself off when the signal gets low or is lost?
I've checked the main power save settings along with those in the o2 screen but the unit still does it.
Could any of you wonderful people shed some light on the problem? :?
Moved to the Blue Angel forum (coz that is the correct forum for this question).
What do you mean, it turns itself off? You mean the screen turns off, or do you mean that the phone part turns itself off (so that you get the X instead of the signal strength icon)?
How do you turn it on again once it's done this?
The green light at the top right of the xda flashes but to turn the unit back on I have to soft reset it by pressing the reset button (bottom left) as the power button will not work??? :?
If I can not sort it by tomo she'll be going back and I'll sadly be havin to go back to a standard phone. :?
The XDA2i isnt a blue angel is it? :?
Sometimes the on button takes a second or two to work. It's not *always* instant. Try pressing it as normal and waiting up to five seconds. You might find that the machine springs into life. (I don't mean press and hold - just a normal momentary press.)
I thought the XDA IIs was the Blue Angel, but I'm not sure.
Yes, HappyGoat made an error. The XDA IIi is an Upgraded XDA II with a faster processor and wifi. The XDA IIs is the Blue Angel.
Yup...my bad....should have moved it to Himalaya...and do these things when I am not drinking beers...

XDA IIs freezes at startup, or doesn't start

Hi,
Sometimes (usually when I wake up in the morning), when i turn my xda iis on, it freezes, showing a black screen, but most time it doesn't turn on at all, the weird thing is that the network led keeps blinking. It looks like as if the phone is in standby but doesn't respond to any key at all, and doesn't ring... basically it is dead, except for the led that blinks :?
The only way to bring it back to life is to soft reset... every morning, and sometimes during the day... quite annoying if you're expecting a call.
Anyone has this problem?

XDA Orbit Screen Problem

Hi Guys.
I've had my orbit for about 3 weeks now, and its been perfect. I had a spare 512mb microSD card lying about so I used that, but my 2Gb microSD card came in the post yesterday.
I put the card into the phone, and then plugged the phone into my computer via USB. The screen turned off, and no matter what I did, it wouldn't come back on.
I reset it using the small button on the side (sticking my stylex pen into it) and it restarted itself, showing the splash screen no problem, but as soon as you would expect the Today screen to show, the screen goes off. It get's weirder, because if I hold down the camera button to turn that on, the screen switches itself on, and you can use the camera no problem. If i hit the windows key, the menu appears, but if I try clicking an icon, the screen goes dead again.
Also, sometimes (not always, don't ask why) if I leave it for a couple of minutes, the screen slowly appears, as if the backlight is very very dim. But the second i tap anywhere, or touch a button, it goes off again.
I can still answer calls, and my alarms still go off. The phone seems to work perfectly, but just not the screen. I think that it might be the backlight having been turned so far down its off, but I don't know how I would go about reseting that.
Sorry for the long story, but any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
have you tried to make a hard reset?
Man I had the exact sane issue. Its to do with the backlight. I had to angle the screen to try and see anything on it, then changed the backlight to full and made sure it didnt switch off after certain time, everything fine since then. dont know how it happened.
exactly like fubofo wrote, try to unplug, screen should be visible again, check backlight prop.-and plug it in.
i have the same problem this appears sometimes.I think this is a damn bug that appears randomized. It happend to me like 6 times.I have the o2 xda orbit with german o2 rom. What's about yours? it dims the light under the normal makeable settings this sucks. And the camera works because the light settings goes automaticly to the highest settings in camera mode.
Hi guys,
I remember having that problem but it was when I tried some programs, including HTC X-button and another called Invisible Shooter. I haven't got any further incident after uninstalling them.
Do you think what you've encountered with may also link to some program you've installed?

Totally confirmed! Had same issue after replacing a touch screen. Thanks, guys, for a clue!

Cannot Pass Through Align Screen on O2 XDA Exec

I just got a O2 XDA Exec and i found its touch screen is not working with stylus. I followed the instruction to re-celebrate the mobile and I tried with the cross (+) sign for 2 hours but it kept on repeating and the cross (+) has been moving when i tap on it with my stylus. It went on for whole night !
Then i hard reset the phone with factory settings and now the first screen appears os the Align Screen to celebrate the phone and I simply can't get through this screen my pressing the center of the Cross (+).
I used the phone for last 2 days, with sync and all but my touch screen was not working with stylus. Thats why i tried to repair it and now I fell in to big mess. Pls help. My email: zkararz at yahoo.com

Screen not turning on

Ive had this issue for over a week now. Often when I need my phone and turn it on from the Power/On button at the top, the screen stays black, it doesnt turn on. I can see the bottom hardware buttons light up and the touchscreen seems to work, I can feel the haptic feedback when pressing the screen... Assume its a connection issue - anyone had the same problem?
I have the same issue, but just turn the lock on again (hardware buttons turn off) and unlock the phone, and then the screen comes on.
Help!
This has gone really bad now! Ive tried find help on the net, but nothing so far!
I have removed the SD card, Sim. Tried with and without. I have hard and soft reset the Desire severeal times. It works well for a while, but the problem kicks in sooner or later.
Pressing the power button the buttons light up, the screen vibrates but its black, not turning on. I tried to unlock it, but without any help.
Hate to take it to T-Mob and be without a phone for another 2 weeks...
Im trying to make a hard reset by pressing the volume down + power (also the alternate press home and back and then Power). Even this is not working... is it totally bricked now?
With the Monday Bankholiday, will be ages before I get my Desire back. Awww!!
If anyone has any idea how to help, appreciate it alot!

I had the same problem with mine but in my case I dropped it on the floor but the screen hadn't any visible problem and the buttons below worked fine and the notification LED told that it worked. I sent it back to HTC and they replaced the screen under warranty. Tell us if you found another solution.
Regards, vascer.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App
