Sjeesh man, life is too short to be vague. :| What is it you wish to accomplish?
(Since you posted in 'Unlocking it', it may well be that you wish to use this phone on some other provider than the one that is providing you with the phone, and that you suspect that the phone has a SIMlock set....)
XDA-Developers
i've got an MDA Vario II and just updated it to the original WM6 ROM which was available from T-Mobile, but I am very disappointed - in some things:
- The Power Consumption has increased
- Some Programs are even not in this ROM like the "Notes" Application and the Calculator
- The Performance is not as good as under WM5
- The WMP cannot play MP4 Files
...There are some more issues but I don't want to list them all, because this is not my core question
What I want to know is if it is possible to install the O2 Rom or if you can recommend me another ROM, it is no problem if it is in english, it just should be having all the WM Standard Programs and it should have more performance.
Can I get the original HTC ROM somewhere ?
I recently purchased the Siemens SX66. I like everything about it except for one thing.
It does not let show Korean fonts.
I looked high and low for some sort of a MUI (Windows always had this to show other language formats in Windws 2000), but have not found it.
Does anyone have any idea what I can do? Perhaps there is a BA image that supports this sort of a thing... I am tempted to try out the one with the "traditional chinese" OS, but I don't think it will have Korean support on it.
Please any help would be appreciated.
i tried to ask Pulm-center in HK who can do memory up grade, to add more 128mb ram.
He could add, but OS can read it at all. he tried to many modules and also many way. but still cant read it.
http://asukal.seesaa.net/article/9332478.html
But my freind got it on Dell WM5 device,
http://pocketgames.jp/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=3837&mode=thread&order=0]
Just report. <all llinks are japanese.for the pictures>
any way, my unversal has more 128mb memory inside still now,
with hoping someday OS can read it with os upgrade or something!
I'm sure it can't be an OS problem, as the Dell works fine with 256mb?
i agree that! but he has no way to do now.
he tried to his best which he could.
do u have any idea?
I think that it is and problem in chip pinout.
To get full 128mb RAM on HTC Magician you need to shortcut some pins by resistor... i think that is same situation here with HTC Universal.
At same time for upgrading hx4700 you do not need to shortcut anything.
P.S. Did you disassemble your HTC Universal? Can you tell us LCD part number?
I want to do a Ram up-grade to try it on my Jasjar.
Can anyone please tell me how to do it?? and where I can find the link to downoad it ?? I tried through the pasted links in the beginning of this forum but unfortunately my Japanese language is not good enough to know where to click.
Need your help please.

To Mr,khaledelfeki>>in my site, no instruction how to do it.
Just reported the results, because it was not done bymyself.
Hi Asukal,
maybe the RAM size is hardcoded in nk.exe (kernel).
Same as it is hardcoded on Himalaya... If you do the RAM upgrade on Himalaya and then you put bigger RAM chips on it, it will use just the amount hardcoded in nk.exe.

Since the second 64MB is mapped, you can try
to read from it directly, overwrite it with some pattern and reread to check if it works.
Why the hell do you want more ram???
Ive never used 64meg ram, even on my XDAII !
I wanted to remove 64 on the old XDAII, you realise it will dramatically cut battery life having more right?

ya, i guess you english or 1 byte language user can not understand us.
we need to use japanese and chinese on this device,
Font and wince.nls, and also Japanese / chinese SIP waste much more
Strage Momory than you expect.
we can use only 30MB and some for the space to install something on WM5. even Program Memory has more space, we couldnt adjust it with slider to give ,more Storage memory. this is the prblem of WM5.

Do you think the NK.exe from Dell Axim v50 WM5 model will work to
over right to Unversal?
Because Dell device with WM5 already reconized another RAM.

Of course not. It is a different hardware setup.
nk.exe is not just "some" .exe you can arbitrarily
change
Ahha, I didnt realise the international fonts and input stuff wasted so much ram...
Rember that the two types of memory on universal are completely different chips now!
Storage is FLASH only and Program is RAM only.
That is why there can be no slider between them.
Adding ram chips will only ever increase the program memory.
to increase the Storage you would have to change the flash chip (dont think you can add one) or gain access to the hidden Extrom.
This is the reason the memory slider was dropped, you cant change between chips/types of memory like that.
Shame, but for the other benefits its worth it.

Can you dump the boardID instead?
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=UniversalBoardIDs
My ID is 0x5, and this value differs for
Sony and Samsung LCDs.
It can be calculated if you do in haret:
pd 0x10000118 0x4
Cr2 >>thanks,,,,, you are right, i will find way!

that is better solution,right?

Sorry, it was an interactive command.
The command
pdump uniasic 0x10000000 0x200
will create the 'uniasic' file with the registers contents.

May be I am asking this question again, but I have tried to search in the forum and unable to find any help.
Recently got XDA-Orbit, I must score it a decent device. I am stuck to change the soft keyboard, I have tried 2 from BuzzDev but no joy, it is also mentioned under the instructions that "You must be running "nocert" ROM (1.60c and above)". Any advice would be greatfull.
Thanks

Any ideas anyone?
I'm probably not going to be much use, but there will be a dll in the windows folder on it that has the keyboard pics. The problem is that the file will be signed and if you edit it and expect to replace it you'll need to be able to re-sign it. The windows ppc sdk can help you with this; i haven't changed any myself, so i can't sorry!
Thanks for even write something jdl1306, its seems like no one in this forum has came accros with the issue like this, is it possible?
Thanks anyway

Yea, i did try a keyboard skin which was signed and it worked on my wm5 prophet. So i guess, buzz's or the crossbow KB skin have to be signed in order for them to work
I used the "certification off" program which I found on the website below (near bottom of page), this allowed me to install unsigned keyboard skins to the wifes Prophet.
Maybe it'll work for you, let us know.
http://www.pdamagician.com/wm5software.html
This was also discussed on a thread about Happy Tapping Keyboard,
maybe worth a search.

Hope we find a solution.. thanks again
Since some weeks I'm having no a Garmin-Asus Nuevifone M10 device and I'm very happy with it. Meanwhile not only HTC devices are having a own forum on xda devs, Samsung, Sony Ericcson and LG devices are also here.
In my opinion it would be great to have a forum for Nuevifone too but if I'm the only one with a Nuevifone its of course useless.
So my question is: Are there some others with the Nuevifone and if so would it be possible to make a new forum for it?
i just brought a m10 too. but kinda hard to find forums on it. anyone can help??
yeah...pls upon a different forum for ASUS mobiles...i have asus P565 n M10
I also have a nuvifone M10 we should have a seperate forum discussion for M10
I agree
I agree with all you guys. I just bought an m10 and have been fiddling around with it and i must say i'm falling in love. We really should have our own forum. I would really like to dual boot the m10 with winmo 6.5.3 and android 2.0.1 Can anyone tell me:
1. Is it possible?
2. If so, how to go about doing it.
I want to know how to get that mapping software off the Nuvifone and onto my TP2. garmin mobile xt hasn't been updated since 2008. can still get map updates (not legally as garmin no longer supports it, but hooray for the Internet.)
edit
researched that Garmin-Asus M10. Looks like it's not available stateside and that it runs WinMo 6.5.3. That means it has sat nav software on it, and it's processor (MSM7227) looks to be a 600MHz MSM7200/7201A so I bet it can be run on the TP2. Anybody else wanna throw down on a bounty? I'm about to go post in winmo software development.
3 days of usage - M10
Hi all, I got
Asus-Garmin M10 just few days ago - it seems to be great, as all other Asus devices and plus excellent navigation and gps functions from Garmin.
I also think we must have a forum for this device.
Does anybody know how to change software in it to different language? I need to change it from Russian to English. No software on the official web site.
for my previosu device, ASUS P526 I downloaded English firmware from Asus web site, for this one - nothing on the web site.

Did you get any offers on the Bounty? Iwouldd be interested in a fully working version that runs on other WM devices and uses the same maps as the GMXT version but with TTS and the other improvements of the M10.
Garmin Mapping Software
Even i've been lookin for a way to extract the map application from my GA M10, but unsuccessful so for. What i have been able to do so far is to figure out how to install original Garmin Navteq maps from another M10 and register it to my device... This was borne out of necessity as i went ahead and formatted my internal 4GB storage in USB mode and lost all map and voice guidance etc...
If anyone else has a similar problem, i will be glad to help you out.
Hey enigmaamit I dumbly done the same, did you find a solution. Got no hair left now arrrrrrrrrrrr!
