Sjeesh man, life is too short to be vague. :| What is it you wish to accomplish?
(Since you posted in 'Unlocking it', it may well be that you wish to use this phone on some other provider than the one that is providing you with the phone, and that you suspect that the phone has a SIMlock set....)
XDA-Developers
i've got an MDA Vario II and just updated it to the original WM6 ROM which was available from T-Mobile, but I am very disappointed - in some things:
- The Power Consumption has increased
- Some Programs are even not in this ROM like the "Notes" Application and the Calculator
- The Performance is not as good as under WM5
- The WMP cannot play MP4 Files
...There are some more issues but I don't want to list them all, because this is not my core question
What I want to know is if it is possible to install the O2 Rom or if you can recommend me another ROM, it is no problem if it is in english, it just should be having all the WM Standard Programs and it should have more performance.
Can I get the original HTC ROM somewhere ?

Hiya everyone.
I had a search for this, and was unable to find the solution, so I apologise if this has been asked before.
Is it possible to revert my XDA 2's OS back to its original state after its been upgraded to WM 2005?
I only ask because I wish to sell my XDA 2, and there are certain aspects of the new OS that don't run properly (The 2 side buttons - camera and voice recorder no longer work, and I am unable to connect to the internet as the o2 settings were wiped, and they are unable to provide me with the manual details).
If this is possible, then great... if not, then I'll have to make do really (unless someone can offer assistance on the problems above?).
Oh just for reference, I used the guide on this forum to upgrade to WM 2005, so you can see the exact process I went through.
Thanks to anyone who is able to help.
Failing any help, can anyone post a rom of the OS in its original state for the o2 XDA2?? (with o2 Active, despite how many ppl hate it! lol)
I'd just like to get it back to its fully-functioning self again.

Hi Dreadlord,
In a nutshell, yes, it is possible to update your unit.
My personal recommendation to you is that you stay with what you have. Presently, there are few advantages that you, as an end user, would gain from an upgrade to WM5. Perhaps, it's just an appearance issue..?
To Upgrade a BA to WM5 requires some end user knowledge of the day to day running of the device and if you're having problems understanding the daily terms within posts here then you might end up damaging your BA.
Don't forget that these ROMS are not official releases. They are patched reverse engineered Operating Systems that still, at this stage, feature bugs & code issues. Granted they are getting better with each release and I strongly believe that one day they'll be a "plug & Play" version that people can just load and use..
This is why I presently am running the latest 1.42 WWE ROM for WM2003SE.. Yes, I have updated my BA to WM5 several times but I have always downgraded again to WM2003SE as so far as I rely on my BA too much for it to use [compared to WM2003SE] an unstable system.
Another thing is that the majority of users on this forum have all had to read the wiki on here and learn. There's very few people who are lucky enough to have this kind of information in their brains already. (Click the link in my Signature to start reading Wiki)
You might not get a good response from others on here if you reply in bold (or caps) stating that you don't understand things - It's not their fault you don't know..
Hope this helps..
Cheers!
Blah Blah.. etc etc.. Hehe
My previous post was my 100th - I'm an an old salt now.. hehe.. Apologies for not being around lately.. I've been in a different country!
Hope all is well with everyone..?
I've noticed the high degree of work that's been done lately on WM5 and all I can say is:

Take care all - it's nice to be back!
I just upgraded to WM6 Vanilla on my 8525. I now no longer have access to the internet through the 3G data service.. Also the keyboard is messed up.. I could careless for WM5.. this phone was seriously pissin me off with WM5.. it was so slow and froze up all the time.. etc. Things seem a lot faster with the WM6 Vanilla.. but I'd like to have more features..
I'd appreciate some help.. I read and searched as much as possible but most of these threads have 30+ pages
PS. Wireless doesn't work either.. the Wifi won't turn on.
I really want to keep WM6.. I just want the full features of WM5 along with it..
Perhaps you should do some more reading then. If you look at the thread with a title something like XDA Live issues (its in consolidated sticky), you'll find a fix for your keyboard - I'm assuming you're running an 8525 or whatever you US guys call it?
I don't know why you flashed Vanilla as well, you'd have been better off with XDA Live.
Your internet problem is due to not having the settings for your provider now. You might find the answer in a thread, there might be an ExtROM cab you can run to get the settings, or you might have to find them on the providers website and manually enter them.
I would like to keep PTT.
I just tried XDA... not appealing to me. I like Vanilla.. just not so damn plain.. wish it was full feature.
dont you get it...its not meant to have any extras just plain "vanilla", if you want extras just add them as most stuff wotrks if you install it, ive got vannila with only what i need, tomtom and my provider settings, and works perfect for me
I'm an F'n newb to this stuff.. so no I don't get it .. lol.
I just put vanilla back on...
So now the question is, how do I find out what cingulars 3G (EDGE) information is so I can get that working again.. and also how can I get Wifi working.. currently it will not even enable(turn on) the wifi...
see https://www.cingular.com/support/deviceConfig.do?content=KB71396.html to set up GPRS/UMTS on your device
Thank you very much skyyboy, that did the trick!
Now can someone help me fix the keyboard? When I go to do @ I get a question mark.. I have to use the key that should be ! to get the @
Thanks
Is there any way to allow the phone to have more than one data connection open at once?
Sorry to tell you, neither WM6 Rom supports PTT.
Actually Vanilla can't support it (need to swap some important system files and it can't be done with a cab file) whereas there are a couple of people working on getting it to work with WMXL (WM XDA Live)...

I have a Cingular 8525 and it is unlocked and I use T-Mobile service with it. I see that T-mobile has released the WM6 upgrade...http://home.businesswire.com/portal...d=news_view&newsId=20070502006572&newsLang=en
My question is should I upgrade using the T-mobile version or should i wait and get the cingular version of WM6? Also, is it worth the trouble to upgrade? Im a pretty heavy user of all the features of the phone.
Also, what software would you recommend me using to backup my programs on my phone if i do upgrade?
Thanks in advance,

I would say "Yes" Go ahead and upgrade your phone with that Rom.
Is it worth the trouble; well Tell us the trouble you have after you upgrade to the t-mobile rom.
As for Backup software I would suggest ArcServe 7. Oh wait I think ArcServe has a newer mobile version!
Seriously, you should read the wiki and maybe a few threads before upgrading (or should I say bricking) your phone.

As I understand it, Cingular has a load of bloatware installed - but if you use this stuff then the t-mobile ROM won't include a lot of it and you'll need to install it by cab files. A lot of the cabs are included in some of the xda-dev WM6 ROMS. Using the Cingular ROM should also keep you in warranty if anything goes wrong.
If you're a heavy user of the standard phone functions then either the Cingular or t-mobile ROMS should be ok (but remember to make a note of your wireless/data/mms settings or get the cab file to re-install them - maybe here http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_provider_cabs ).
With both of the above ROMS you get the official support through the customer service help lines. This will generally be limited to a twat who knows ****-all about phones except that the one superglued to his ear hurts after a 12 hour shift.
If you want good WM6 ROMS with good support (not always immediate but often quicker than queueing for a helpdesk) then try Black or LSVW. Both are great and most annoyances or problems have been found and already resolved.
As for the backup software, all the stuff I need backed up is already synced with outlook. The actual program files I always re-install after a ROM upgrade - I think this is the safest way. A piece of software which is always mentioned when people ask about backups is SPB backup http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/?en. I can't recommend it because I don't use it, however it seems to be highly regarded.

ROFL
You can't be serious.
Have you read a frickin' thing in your 40+ posts?
Load that Dash ROM on anything, right? ****, put it on your Panasonic wireless 5.8 GHz phone while you're at it.
Gimme some of what you're smokin', dude.
You know that the MDA is a Wizard, and your 8525 is a Hermes, right? You will brick your phone if you don't follow the instructions for a Hermes.
As for bloatware, Black 3.0 is the newest and fastest ROM out there.
t-mo mda is for WM5.0?I
i looked at the "do i need this upgrade?" and it says it's WM5.0. Is anyone sure that this is for WM6.0 and not 5.0? The dash upgrade clearly says 6.0.
Oops, I brick my phone. . . Perhaps not. Was it a wizard or hermes? I don't know. Just gimme a link to some WM6 roms and I will flash them iusing Vista. Probably more than one rom at a time.
p.s. Please don't take this seriously. Enjoy!
It was announced

That T-Mo was releasing WM 6.0 for the MDA. Can you get into the OS.NB file and check the build dates?
Otherwise, look up Faria's Wizard ROM and unlock your phone. I used Faria's on my K-Jam before I switched to a TyTN.
in my tp2 when tap the "Z" write "Y" and many "Fn" are not in line. the htc say my device is nordic, my rom is ita.

Whoops, sometimes I can put the blinders on. That's an Android thing on our port of Android... Doesn't have anything to do with WinMo.
If you're experiencing this issue in WinMo, I think there's a cab you can install to remedy it. I don't have a link handy, I'll try to find one.
Edit - first, I would make sure you didn't install an Italian ROM on a Nordic RHOD. That might be the source of your issues.
Other than that, you can see if this key remapper tool will help. It might.
I apologize, I think you're right, you installed a Nordic Roma Italian of Rhodia. I just bought on ebay because I like and has a fair price. and I saw that was brought Android on it. I'm looking to set it up (in my free time) and use it well, but as you see my English is not my best and try to understand as much as possible before doing damage. I saw your build and I find it interesting, but I did not understand, for example if I set I startup.txt to overclock or does it automatically?
and then these days I found myself having problems with wifi. I can not connect decent. I tried changing the radio, but I often just walk away from the router the speed does not exceed 1 Mbps RX and I lose the connection.

Ask Android questions in the Android section please. My fault for mixing them up previously... I wouldn't worry about damage tho - worst thing that could happen is your SD card might get destroyed, but I was running for over a year on the same card, no problems. Card still works great. There's literally no risk to the phone itself - reboot the phone, and it goes right back to WinMo.
As for wifi, I assume the issue with wifi is in WinMo? I don't know, I can't really help you there. I would try other AP's, make sure it's not your AP.
hardware problem with windows
Hello there,
I have HTC TP2 mobile few days (not new). It has Windows Mobile 6.5 energyROM installed and also Android on the SD card.
When I am using hardware keyboard with WM, it has problems with FN (it works ash SHIFT) and shift(CAPS) don´work anytime.
But when I switch to android - everything is OK. So it is not hardware problem, but WM problem, I think. Can anybody help?
Thank you.

I would reflash, and make sure if there's any specific cabs you need to install after the fact, you do it.
For example, on my Sprint RHOD400, if I didn't install a 'keyboard fix' cab after flashing WinMo there were a few keys that were off/non-functional. Been a while since I've used WinMo really at all, but if I recall correctly they were different than the keys you're having issues with.

Read, read, read. You have to be somewhat self-sufficient here - unless you have the exact same phone and carrier as me, I won't be able to hold your hand. Besides, you learn nothing by having someone hold your hand.
There's tons of threads and articles here on WinMo. Use that search button and poke around the WinMo development section.
