As of this time, there is no Blue Angel-compatible CE ROM of Windows Mobile 5 to date, in beta or final form, in circulation nor available for examination or experimentation to us.
As of this time, there are no official or unofficial plans or announcements by any manufacturer, distributor, or wireless carrier.
Please do not create new threads or post off-topic in current threads that are in regards to this UNLESS you have witnessed firsthand that one does exist or that you are or can be in possession of a Blue Angel device that has actual Windows Mobile 5 code on it.
As soon as we can get our hands on a test ROM, we will let you know as soon as possible.
Thank you.

The Dream is OVER!!! The president of imate said it
Some dutch company interviewed the head of Imate (in English), He said it himself, that the reason was because of memory issues, and the he was afraid that everytime, the phone died or there was a hard reset, we would lose part of the operating system. heres the link to the dutch webite
Here is a link to the Web Site
Here is a Direct Link to the streaming Audio interview
i'm guessing u didn't see the thread about WM5 actually on a BA device did u? well it's true, WM5 CAN be put on a Blue Angel.
by the way, i listened to the podcast, and he was talking about the magician. now if it was the SuperJAM, then i think it would be ok. but devices with 64MB RAM, then you will have the problem. but since the BA has 128MB RAM it's ok.
Dale Coffing on his site mentions something interesting. At the end of his review on the Samsung i730, he posts a response to a reader in the comments section who was asking about WM5 on the Samsung. Here is his reply:
"I have been running Windows Mobile 5 as a development platform on a BlueAngel device (the MDA3) so it kind of spoiling me to not have some of the advanced features on the i730."
So, it seems that not only is WM5 for the BA possible, but it already exists.
Here is the link to his site: http://dalecoffing.typepad.com/my_weblog/2005/06/first_look_sams.html#more
Youre right, i also read this, but we all knew this before. We know that it exists and we were very very close to getting a hand on it, severel times.
Well if Dale was as big of a bible thumper as he claims he is, he would have shared the device with us by now, after all isn't that what Christians supposed to do, share with the needy? But I suspect that his bigger passion is wth MS so I am pretty sure he won't share with us.
I emailed Dale hes a putts and eveyone on the world who has a BA with 5 and doesnt share it. There all putt's

If hes such a "bible thumper" as you say that's the very reason he wont give out what doesn't belong to him.
EFJAY--Please help...
I’m having the problem you’ve already solved on the PDA2K with the GPRS re-connection on T-mobile. I ran "The last ones" cab file for changing the ‘flags2’ file to 16. So far so good.
The other issue of course is the need to downgrade my caller id version to 1.20 build 17957. I have the cab file for that: IA_CallerID_1.20_WWE.CAB but when I copy it from my desktop to the device and double tap it I get the same error message: “The file “\windows\iacontacts.dll” is in use or is in ROM. If the file is not in ROM, please close the application using the file.”
So, the second part of the fix is a no go. This device is my goodlink and to be honest I desperately need a work around for this bug in the 1.40 ROM. I would be EXTEMELY grateful if you could stem me through the process of downgrading the caller id .dll file to 1.20 build 17957 and somehow getting around the fact that it’s in ROM.
Thanks very much for your help. I’m afraid I’m supposed to be leaving town tomorrow late afternoon and this IMATE PDA2K was supposed to be my lifeline. Now I’m ready to throw this brick out the window and buy a treo. I’m depressed. L
I would really be grateful for any assistance. Thanks so much.

Or at least change the sticky to the one that says WM5 is up and running?
Dear all,
I contacted HTC for my device upgrading and ROM updates, and they direct me to this forum.
I have a TyTN unlocked device, and want to upgrade to WM6. I explored all what you posted here but couldn't decide which version and link is suitable for me. Any way, here down my device information, and I'm appreciating any help to upgrade my device to WM6.
Device Information:
Device Name: HTC TyTN (Unlocked)
Language: English
Processor: SC32442A - 400MHz
Memory: 49.05 MB
System: Windows Mobile 5.0 OS 5.1.195 (Build 14955.2.3.0)
That are all information I could get from my device
Need Help my friends.
After all, I beleive that HTC should have an upgrade area to support their devices.
Thank you in advance.
Hi there!
its good to know that HTC assistants sent you here on this forum !!
I can suggest you to go for the wm6 image black 2.5 as its been always the most stable for me, so read the wiki and all the documents to upgrade your hermes to that version.
http://www.mrvanx.org/cms/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=37&Itemid=26
and don't run in the upgrade, take your time to read everything and if you don't understand something, come back here.

It depends on your personal reasons for upgrading. If you want to upgrade because of more speed and more stability you should try Black 2.5. If you are doing it because of adventuresomeness you should give all of the great roms here a try.
But at least you should try Black 2.5, Duttys V2 and Custels 1.3 to find out which one is the best for you. You should also try different radios to see if theres a difference in your area.
And don't forget the most important object: read mrvanx upgrade guides very very carefully and follow every step exactly.
be aware that the ROMs here are *unofficial* and *unsupported* ROMs.
HTC will NOT help you out if you screw up your device.
if you are unsure about flashing, then stay with the stock ROM.
I have a UK unlocked Tytn and would very strongly recommend Black 2.5.
My first ever ROM upgrade was Black 1.2 and it was soo god. 2.0 was even better and 2.5 better still. Have had no problems, battery life is much better, doesn't lockup/freeze any more, loads more memory available.....i could go on.
Go for it - follow mrvanx's upgrade guide. he makes it very easy
Flashig roms is one way... be careful...
When I first flashed a WM6 Rom on to my HERMES I made sure I read all the preinstall instructions very carefully as I didn't have a clue about flashing. MR VANX's guide is excellent, follow it carefully and you can't go wrong.
I have now successfully flashed numerous ROMS on to my device.
No-one can tell you which is the best ROM as they are all excellent for their own different features and customisations. You will need to try a few and see which you like best.
Good Luck.
I highly doubt
That an HTC representative sent someone here for ROM updates to WM 6.0.
If they did and are caught, they will probably be terminated.
I deal with HTC regularly and they don't condone or encourage our methods of tuning and research.
Be careful out there.
Thank you
Thank you a lot for your replies guys. They helped me a lot. I'll do the upgrade and will back to you with the results. Thanks again.

It always amazes me how corporate structures can be so schizoid. I too have received- from in-the-trenches personel- a pointer to this site specifically for beta testing WM6 Push. Conversely, the moderators here made it clear that management at HTC was a major impetus behind MS's request that the ftp archives be pulled.
The kicker for me is that the Wiki on HTC's US site specifically points to this XDA-developers and those postings are all vetted by someone at HTC USA. I'm thankful for that because that's how I found this site in the first place.
My Upgrading Status
First of all, I would like to add my voice to (teambnet) that I'm thankful for them to made me know this website and forum in the first place.
OK, about my upgrading status guys, I did exactely as shown in mrvanx.org website and did install WM6 Black 2.5, everything is gone fine except one thing, that the button of contact voice tag is not working. When I push that button, it gives me a message "Error opening the shortcut or locating the target filename.", I tried then to assign the shortcut to a program by going to Start --> Settings --> Buttons, but I couldn't find the program that should be assigned. I don't know if my problem are clear or not but I tried to explain as much I could. Any suggestions to solve that?
Thanks all,
Reda,

I always suspected that secretly HTC were using us as beta testing guinea pigs, now it looks like I was right! And half of the fixes for their bugs are created by developers on this site.
Seriously though, if your Hermes is no longer covered by the original HTC warranty (as mine was from the very first day I got it, since I bought it from an "unauthorized" distributor), then HTC have nothing to lose by pointing someone to this site. They might as well have said, "Flush it down the toilet for all we care..."
John
HTC's wiki is just like ours, anyone can edit it... So i doubt that HTC themselves put a link to XDA on their wiki, but someone else probably did..
You need to install the voice commander CAB located on the first page of BLACK2.5 Then remap the button.
You should read thru the numerous posted before asked already resolved issues. Congrats on the UPGRADE!!!

Finally Finished
Hi all,
Thank you stuckes, I did as you told me and everything gone very nice. WM6 is a nice OS, not that much different from WM5 at least for me. But, it's nice. Thank you all for your help in that.
I got a question, when I would to upgrade, there are many versions of WM6, Black2.5 and other versions, where can I find a complete comparison with screenshots of them to decide if I'm gonna change to another one or stick to black 2.5?
Regards,

There's a black 3.0.1.
Easily found along with a list of many other ROMs on the wiki page here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Cooked_ROMs

Hi,
I'm lucky enough to have a new toy arriving soon. Actually, it is already a second hand, o2 xda zinc. I'm already excited so I'm reading tons of stuffs here. But I'm not lucky getting the right forum group and the official roms. I've notice that most of the o2 xda zinc stuffs falls under hermes. If hermes is not the right forum, kindly point me in the right direction. Is it under this forum then? Secondly, I went in to the official website www.mwg.com to download the roms, but now luck would somebody be kind enough to help me download all these roms for both wm5 and wm6 on xp and vista. for the country selection, please choose philippines. may i also, be so bold to ask, to pls do include the streaming media(this is only for philippines). thanks. i would really appreciate it. btw, when i try to download, nothing happens, it(the website) just stays/sits there for so long then it says done on the status(lower left corner of my internet explorer). nothing is donwloaded, nothing happens when i try to download

Hi guys at the risk of appearing REALLY dim witted, i am looking for a WM6 upgrade for my M3100.
I have read Mr Vanx Upgrade site, done the olivpro..but now just looking for the rom upgrade.
Anyone know where i can download it from?
Thanks in advance
just keep looking around..
u'll find many rom here..
Hey thanks for the response.
Lol i have..and i am quite new to this..so EXTREMLY confused.
Is their a reccomended WM6 Rom?
I want to most standard one, prefrebly with MSN Messnger on it lol
Hello,
I can assure you you will find only very nice roms on the forum. As soon as you have HardSPL installed, it's ok. Check mainly the first page of this section, there will be the latest roms. I personnaly use PDACorner, it's quite simple but complete and good ROM, but Messenger is not already installed. You can find a cab file on the wiki I think.
In all ways, you have to try by yourself, nobody has an answer for your use of your phone. But don't worry you're here in a self place... at your own risk as they said. Happy flashing.
Toni
HI toni thanks for your response.
I installed Hard SPL yesterday then was itching to install a rom, but their are so many of them...and to be honest i dont understand the difference between them lol.
I might try your PDA corner first lol.
Once i get into the whole rom thing and understand what they actually are, i might try and make a one stop link for people to add and pick and choose lol.
The thing is they are a little bit the same. I barely modify anything in a rom I install (just adding my SNES emulator and japanese I/O), so usually my choice on rom rely on the actual little differences in contents, like the tweak the chief included. And by the way in the last PDACorner, there is an annoying tweak (some program wich replace the bottom bar when you click on it), there is a little registry change to do, and now it's perfect for me! So as I said, just try and find the one which contains what you think is useful for you.
As was stated before, the rom you choose is YOUR choice. Asking whats good is a pointless exercise as there will be a heap of people telling you what rom they think is best. What they want and need may be completely different from what you want and need.
Best advice, read the 1st page, it tells you what apps are included and gives you an idea on whats in the rom. Then read the last few pages. This will tell you what problems people have been having and, maybe, how to fix it. But in the end it depends on what you want in your rom...
Cheers...
Hello guys!
I know that you guys support only HTC phones, but duo to your amazing works, i decided to ask here. I have I-mate ultimate 9502 wm6.1 and i would i to have wm6.5 (very jealous lol). My question is:- anyone knows if there is any cooked wm6.5 for ultimate devices?? or if there is any cooked wm6.5 that can be used on 9502?
Thanks
I'm using 9502 and 6150.
And it seems this site is HTC Developers or something like all-except-imate developers. They won't create subforum for imate, not even one. And if I ask something about imate, ppls here will just switch to pretend-that-there-is-no-post-about-imate mode... even if they see it, they just banish ppls that ask about imate stuffs.
And personally I think this site, XDA-Devs is so bad, not only they so HTC-crap oriented. Many ppls here just cant solve any small problem, for ex: my Windows Live Messenger Mobile's emoticon suddenly disappeared for unknown reason..
I ask it here and no one able to solve that...
How do you expect ppls here CAN or ABLE to break imate ROM lock to create new WM6.5 or upcoming WM7 ROM?
I'm so pessimist with people here, they're so HTC oriented and don't care about imate users. They should change their name to HTC-Developers so ppls know that this site is not for all PDA...
its so sad and disheartening...
but thank god i have a htC
thank god i have a diamond lol

XDA is a specific kind of device manufactured by HTC. XDA's all share a common architecture which means the unlocking and ROM flashing process is very similar. The Xperia X1 for instance was manufactured by HTC and thus shares this architecture. Devices such as the imate ultimates are very different. Perhaps they could be figured out too, but unfortunately there just may not be enough popularity for those devices. Whether or not a device will have XDA support is a factor when I decide to purchase a wm device.
Perhaps someone else can give a better explanation of what exactly an XDA is but hopefully you kind of get the idea from my explanation.
I know XDA, it the old kind of PDA, before PDA (from Wikipedia).
What I think is: even 9502 got the same hardware as Diamond, so what's the diff?
I can use Diamond's driver and HTC things in my imate, so what? diff architecture? I don't think so...

honestly not to blow your bubble but i doubt you will ever be able to update winmo 6.5. as for a cooked rom , you are definetly not in the right forum . i checked on google for you and theres so custom roms having 6.5 or even 6.1 lol . so i think you could just try spb mobile shell to give your phone a new look . . sayonara
No, you can't since 9501 got more advanced function like Quadband GSM, Tiband UMTS, TV-Out and many more. Plus the ROM Update is locked with special password.
But the rest, the basic architechture (MSM7200) is the same as Diamond.

Hi, that is the difference between imate and htc, you mention it.
And I guess, not just that, they can share the same architecture, but there's must be many differences between the two pdas.
let say an xda atom comparing to hp ipaq 6282(cmiiw), they both hv same hardware configuration, but they have really different drivers to use.
And maybe that's why there's no such cooked rom 4 imate, etc
Thanks for the suggestion, I wish it had worked.

No, won't work, even if you have an HTC device and try to install a ROM that was intended for another HTC device still won't work, ROMs are device specific.
Btw, I had an Ultimate 9502 but I sold it because of the limited support that Imate devices have and I got an HTC instead.
I don't think you'll be getting any more support anytime soon because the company has been closed.

WOW! ^^ Yup, there's some people here like Shonky or casouzaj that can help you... I can help you a little, but not for doing program disassembly. I had tried to reverse engineer the EUM for flashing but couldn't find the solution for ROM lock. But I'm able to confirm that the camera.exe for 9502 is natively capable of GPS-Photo but lack of required registry code/system files. And the A-GPS is supported but no one can utilize the API. For A-GPS, you can check in the registry, there is a key named HKLM\Software\Mobi\agps, inside there's some keys with blank value. Tried to fill them but got no luck. Hope you can continue developing ROM for our devices. Thank you very much. ^^
You are welcome man. What i really need to know now is how to find the damn XIP start, i have read maybe all the threads about xip but still the damn RomMaster is giving me an error. In my opinion there is somethinig wrong when i splitnb and then imgfsfromnb, it gives me an imgfs that has a size of 0 is that the right way u did it?
Hmmm, from the way that I did....
I just read it somewhere that the core and XIP for imate series ROM is compressed. Therefore need additional tool to extract it. So we can't extract it by usual HTC ROM method.
And I just realized that, and that's explain why my compiled ROM got smaller size than the original ROM even though I didn't alter anything, just decompile and recompile.
