so i was looking at the many iphone knock offs and personally i am not impressed with the hardware, but as i am a pc and not a mac i will never ever use the Mac OSX operating system without an overwhelming feeling of shame as though i have just cheated on my wife; not that i have and would know what that feels like but you get my drift.
my point is gentlemen that we need to collect our talents and intelligence and move toward a break through in modding. I am currently running SNN Lite Edition and am very pleased with it. Upon exploring the OS, i realized that there exist the possibility to expand upon this work and take it to new heights.
to begin with as i said earlier i am running WM6.1 SNN Lite edition, 3rd party apps include SPB Mobile Shell II, Wisbar Advance 3, Advance Config, Network Wizard, Resco Explorer and Photo Viewer, among others. The only 2 of the apps that i mention that have anything to do with what we are and will be discussing are WisBar Advance 3 and SPC MS II.
take a look at the following screen shots, photoshoped so dnt ask me for the ROM i haven't created it...heck i wouldn't even know where to start;

i mean all we're really talking about here is a mobile version of bootcamp or something to the effect of creating partitions on the iphone hard-drive and then booting into the windows mobile and delete the iphone rom or better yet since one would have to spend so much on buying the device then one could have both OS's running...choosing to booting into one or the other.
But again i wuldnt know where to start so if any of you genii could figure out how to do this then i can assure you, you would go down in modding history.
jus for the hell of it, someone in Development and Hacking started a thread entitled "MUST SEE" about how he found an "iPhone" that runs both the iPhone rom and WM6
it's definitely some kind of chinese iClone obviously.
i suppose the problem here would be drivers for the screen.
also, a whole bunch of the features wouldn't work out that well(visual voicemail, accelerometer)
The only real upside I see is the hardware and that is only until the new devices like the Xperia1 come out.
For pure geek factor I will admit that it would be the bee's knee's though.
So...
Any one seriously consider tackling this on? I wish I had the knowledge to do it, because I would in a HEARTBEAT.
EDIT: Anyone see this yet? Thoughts?
http://solomobi.com/viewproduct.asp?pro_id=1364&page=1
actually it's an iphone...i simply photoshoped screenshots of my phone onto it. i'm running WM6.1 the screen ou see there is Dredd's mobile shell theme for mobile shell 2 and of course the taskbar is vista pocket 2 running on wisbar advance 3...and a WMP11 skin.
but you see my point here...however you want to customize your windows mobile device you can...which you cant do with an iphone...
lemme drop some research some you:

dang this iclones seem 2 have better thing than the iphone i mean dual simcard slots, cameras and bluetooth, and running wm6... apple should take some notes...
impossible
Running windows mobile/windowsCE is completely impossible from a end user/hacker point of view for the iphone let alone ANY device that does not run WM/CE. it all comes down to drivers, and the developers(like HTC, Gigabyte...) makes them.
You have to understand each WM ROM is custom made for each device by manufacturers. WM/CE is fully componentised from ground up right down to including keyboard support, so only minimal drivers are included in the ROM to make it small.
So unless you can do programming in low level(010010101010) and have complete access to hardware and chip design then it is impossible to have it boot WM natively.
btw, we are hackers(or some of us are), and we *might* be able to make a device emulator and just emulate WM/CE like on the PC. of course, currently thats next to nothing - as we need an opensource/free emulator for WM/CE that does not exist.
the only way to make it real and feasible is VNC. They did the same thing with Android-on-WM(and i think it works great).
the screen resolution of the iphone is absolute incompatible.

Just found this http://www.ononesoftware.com/blog/2009/05/15/iphone-app-from-onone/, it looks usefull (to me anyway) shame I don't have an Iphone.
It's such a shame there aren't so many cool apps or well polished apps for WM6+ the hardware is probably capable of a lot but i feel apple users and android users too are getting all the fun, new apps all the time, nicely presented, stylish usefull (admittedly some less usefull than others)
I am a very visual person, i'm a photographer and I design websites and dabble in a bit of graphic UI design sometimes, and I find a lot of apps for my phone are visually dull, visually lacking in inspiration and usefull as some may be (currently using pocketwit a lot) they just don't compete with shiny apple/android apps.
The screen shot mock ups for the new HTC Hero look like they are trying to hop onboard the iphone app/widget train and look nice but I tried out a host of different twitter clients for my TP2 before I went for pocketwit (which I can theme a little) but ditched them partly because they looked dull. It's like finding a website that someone created which is the most usefull website you could ever use...but they built it using badly structured tables with garish bouncing animated giffs and wrote it in the late 90's using MS frontpage.
sorry, it's late and i'm a little tired and i felt it had to be said...
bah why not use remote desktop on the TP2 with EOS Utility on the laptop and an adhoc connection between the two. Thats what I do... live preview and all...
If the software that hurts your visual esthetics is freeware, I would suggest that you contact the developer and offer him your help on polishing up the UI. This is meant serious. As being a hobby developer myself, I sometimes find it hard to create the gui in aspects of esthetic. I make it functional from my point of view but it's not looking nice.
On the other site, you just might want to get an iphone or android...
just my 2ct.
offering to glam up apps is an option of course, this was the last ui theme i designed...quite a while ago now but it started a big following of people trying to port it to other music player apps which was quite cool.

I love my TP2 and glossy and refined as the iphone and android phones are they just don't cut it with my business and working requirements.
See that link you posted earlier ir803? I don't think it's that impressive. Read the detail, you need to hook a laptop up to the camera over USB then the iPhone application connects to the PC.
You can already do this on the TP2. Just run the same PC-camera software and access it via remote desktop or VNC. If they offer a web interface to it then just connect over the web in your phones browser.
That's the difference between the TP2 and the iPhone. On the latter you can do what someone else has specifically allowed you. On the TP2 you can use generic tools to do just about anything.
But yeah, the aesthetic side of it is poor. Most of the apps I run are reasonably polished but there are a few uglies I use such as PuTTY and VxUtil just because their great functionality outweighs the visual manure that is their UI.
This is my opinion.
I typed the following two terms into Google:
best "tic tac toe" for windows mobile
best "tic tac toe" for iphone
I took the first result for each and present for you here the screenshots. I wouldn't mind hearing your thoughts on this. I would post my own but if no one is intersted then it's pointless.

Dead man walking.
The point is : is Windows Mobile dead already? Will XDA become a hangout for bitter people who should have bought the iPhone / Android but were too stubborn to do so? That maybe too harsh but you get the idea.

Did you contact game maker and offered him/her help to make a decent front end/GUI?

I kinda agree with farmer ted. Check out Experiment 13, or even Pocket Uno. Tic tac toe??? WTF???
I'm no troll and I don't want a war. This is a forum discussion and this post is made in that spirit.
I think you've all missed the points I was trying to make entirely.
The google result was used to get the most 'popular' link for the given search term and tic tac toe is very simple, kind of the hello world of games development.
The points I were making were that (1), in general, the UI is very similar to early versions of Windows, i.e. Windows 3.x and (2), development of games/apps is done, in the main, by users because software houses just aren't getting behind Windows mobile to the extent they are for the iPhone. This point is supported by _X_'s comment "Did you contact game maker and offered him/her help to make a decent front end/GUI?".

I agree with you...
Ms doesn't have to do much. I'm working with WM 6.5.3 now and they only need tu update some UI controls to make the touch experience better.
For developers WM the SDK is a nightmare against the iphone SDK. Why the hell don't they create a new SDK with a smart free UI. Only then I will go back developing for WM. Now I have started developing on the iphone and it's difficult but what you read in the manuals works.
I don't know, my conclusion was that the type of person who wants a jazzed up tic-tac-toe app is probably drawn to the iphone and not winmo.
You might try googling up the popular hits for phone tools for both the iphone and windows phones. Do they have anything like SK Tools? I doubt it.

Anyone know what time in UK?
Hope they will go through more deeply in the UI, settings, configurations ...

thats in 2 days!

I wouldn't hold my breath, that's going to be more of the same stuff. The OS isn't ready, has no dialer and other important parts; they won't be able to clarify whether third-party apps will be able to work in background as there are no third-party apps for WP7. If they see lags in the interface that won't mean anything. If they don't it won't mean anything either.

And who's to say that the build shown at MWC wasn't an old build? They kept insisting that it was an "early" build. Most people probably just assumed that "early" was still "recent". But what if by "early" they meant "from a few months ago"? If nothing else it was somewhat old because that was their latest "stable" build while their devs certainly have unstable builds being worked on still. No way they risk a huge event like that with untested software. And they don't want to show their whole hand so far out. They just wanted to get the base UI and principles out there to get the hype started. We'll prolly se a more feature complete build at MIX. Maybe even a full emulator
It's not like Engadget is going to be borrowing the device with no MS person around. I wouldn't be surprised if a MS person was the only one using the device like at MWC. Don't expect Engadget to find anything out by playing with it. If there is any new info learned, it will be from a MS person telling them the info while showing off the OS. Not impossible but not likely either.
Engadget's latest teaser for the event sheds some more light...
Microsoft will also be on hand to demo Windows Phone 7 Series and the company's own Aaron Woodman will be sharing stories about the major changes Redmond has made to the Windows mobile OS.

No not much at all.
The guy at MS was very vague (except for the "hint" that we should attend Mix2010) and didn't reveal any new information.
The biggest thing was the first WP7 phone, the LG whatever. It had a keyboard, but they neglected to try out WP7 in landscape.
They said not to rule out Linux and Mac support for WP7. It is currently not supported, but is an "internal debate".
Also noted is that the IE is an early build, and I wouldn't be surprised if the whole OS is still an early build.
Supposedly MS has been talking with Adobe for awhile and Flash would be an important thing to have in the browser (something of that sort) and MS wants their browser to be competitive, yada yada.
engadget dot com/2010/03/16/windows-phone-7-series-device-from-samsung-is-just-a-hacked-i891/
What does this mean for chances of W7S on the HD2? I'm a complete noob here. Please don't bash me too bad if this is a dumb question. It seems the i891 meets even fewer of the WP7 specifications than the HD2!!!
Sorry, cant post links
Now that's creepy. Microsoft better not be playing a bunch of people. If Windows can run on lower-grade devices, it better be released for them too.
That may be true- but I think its going to be optimised over its life before its released so it will be a different device.
WM7 is more about standards, and things have to have lots of stuff to be allowed to use it- which makes sence.
Is it possible that Microsoft are shunning HTC because they've focused more on Android than Win Mo in the past year?
i think its the same body as the i8910 HD but they might have updated the internals. i.e. processor, RAM, ROM ..

OR maybe it's HTC wanting to provide phones for the business end of the consumer spectrum and thus staying far away from WP7 and instead going with android.
The device in question is a prototype that will NOT go on sale; I wouldn't draw too many conclusions from this.

A prototype using existing hardware for an OS that should not run without a magical "video scaler"...good going M$. What a nose dive. It's all about pushing over priced phones now. Where did the pda concept go? You killed it.
I guess my point is, if it can run on this phone, why not the HD2?
The phone is hacked, the screen size is obviously different.
the fact that they look the same doesnt mean that they are the same
first of all, the bottom part of the phone shown at mix is longer
second, the distance between "samsung" label and screen is obviously bigger
they just put the hardware in a shell just to have something to demonstrate.
its like taking your hard drive and sticking it into a case to make it portable

Because they can make more money with new HD2 + new hardware buttons + 7 Series OS (this world has bad sides I know)
I accepted that the HD2 will not get 7 Series, because there really are a few good reasons. The HD2 does not meat at least 3 to 4 requirements.
BUT, then I see this...
Anyway, I am moving to Android in April/May.

The HD2 has no search button, no hardware camera button, no dedicated power button, half a gigabyte of flash memory when the minimum requirement is 8GB, and has an SD card reader which is banned on WP7S devices. In addition there is a significant question-mark over whether the touch-screen is capable of registering the necessary four independent points of contact, and some doubt as to whether it has the necessary non-GPU-based hardware image scaler.

What i wana know is can i put android on it?
thanks for help
Easy. Reverse engineer the phone's OS and rewrite it for linux, write a kernel, then compile. You may need to do some hardware modifying to be able to load the android...
Or an easier way is to buy a real android device. Seriously.
he wanted a cheap phone for his son...
oke thank you
can i find somewhere steps or?
I think that the steps should be very difficult...you can jailbreak it if you want but i dont think that you can change the iOS into Android 2.3.x
its not the iOS I think that it is some kind of java software based on android
just buy a new iphone
wow take the guy down a notch realy. sorry but hounding the guy cause he asked a question isn't very nice I understand everyone isn't nice. but really. here's what you need to do send me a pm with the specs of the phone maybe if it is running a version of android you can install a diff luancher. unless you have an idea don't just kick the guy when he is down. please grow up.sorry if this offends anyone but lets be civil. I can do some research for you I am not a developer nor do I plane on being one. just remember the g tablet viewsonic put out it was **** but now. that was my first android device. I. have a few of them and know a few developers. just pm me thanks
mmmm I think tht if is not iOS it wuold possible to delete it and re-install another one...mmmm how??? XD
So it appears that you have the knock-off HiPhone or SciPhone. Which seems not run Android, but a form of Java. This would generally mean you are stuck with that system unless you could port android which would depend on the specs. So what are the Technical Details of this device??
In my opinion this entire process might be a long and fruitless mission but that is only my opinion Its your choice entirely!!
Porting android is not easy
If you're a programmer and are willing to put in 100's of hours finding and compiling the right drivers, then maybe, but its not worth it to invest all this hours in some Chinese crap, there are enough cheap android devices.
Itz very difficult dude.100 hours I think that it takes more more more hours if you are a good programmer.anyway yu could ask on web to someone to do this kind of job paying money...You think??
no you cant
Fake Iphone
Hi,
I have a fake Iphone, and before you tell me to get a new phone, I already have an android. I just want a challenge as an aspiring developer.
The specs are:
Capacity: 32G
Version: F6A_CLD_IV_SA1G256_10A_MSFWR_200W_V3-2_V0
It is a Chinese phone running some type of JAVA software.
I am willing to put in time to find and/or create the right drivers and roms, but I would need help in this project. If anyone can assist me with information, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

One of my clients gave me one of these, it's pretty clever, looks a lot like iOS 8.0.2. But is is most likely KitKat, and it's running a Go Launcher theme that it pretty convincing. I installed ES Explorer, it's definitely not iOS, with a clearly Android FS. Whoever made this, it was a lot of work - They were able to make a totally authentic iPhone 6, but one thing prevents any version of iOS- iboot. All I can say is HAHAHA!
Hell, I don't care about activating it, it's probably impossible, but I'd like to find the drivers for it so I can load it up with my Android goodies. I guess I'll just use Es Explorer to connect to my SMB and grab what I need.
My ZTE phone has the drivers accessible if powered down. Yes, when I power down, it comes up as MT65xx preloader. It came up with these, but I still can't read the mounted drives:
