So... I was wondering... I wanted to install some apps onto my WM device... I don't have a PC.. and I only have the installer exes to be run on the computer. Does anyone know how I can install these onto my WM phone? If it helps any, I'm using an HTC TyTN II. I have Missing Sync on my Mac OS X Leopard computer. I know you can install .CAB based files, but can you install it from EXEs? Cos I wanted to install this program which I lost after flashing the ROM. Thx.
NB: I don't use BootCamp, and I would prefer it if I could do this without using BootCamp

Sorry if this have been answerd, but I cannot find any post with the
"how to install from SD" description.
If anyone please can point me in the right direction ?, and even better if you can point at the best version/download to use.
Imate jasjar/using VGA
Edit/ I use Vista with bootcamp on Mac, so usb upgrade is not posible /
Cheers Kim
I don't believe this can be done (not least because the SD card is controlled by the ROM (the OS) which you would be overwriting and upgrading!). You may have to find yourself access to an XP machine.
Some people have suggested that WMDC in Vista can now support ROM upgrades (there is a recent upgrade to WMDC). Others have said that their upgrades stalled halfway through when trying that so if that happened to you and you didn't have access to an XP machine, you would be left with a brick.
Ok tnx, that is probably the reason i cant find a way to do it.
There are several threads saying why not us sd for upgrade, but non say how :-(
Can anyone confirm that WMDC in Vista can now support ROM upgrades ?
Edit / Still I wounder what rom most people prefer for the JasJar, i do not have a sim lock so that is not a issue.
And, is it native VGA or do I use Oz ? /

Hey All,
If your having problems with vista use a virtual machine like vmware workstation and install a copy of xp. It saves having to dual boot or borrow a mates pc. There is a trial version for download and a beta. Anyone else thought of this?
Don't use microsoft virtual pc 2007 as it doesn't have usb support.
Good idea.... have you actually tried a full install off a virtual XP and does it work ok?
Yes i have i had some problems. Eventually i had to use the vm player so i could tell when the usb was connected. but once i figured that out. I don't have any problems.
I upgraded with wm6 2.02 rom. However i can't upgrade the radio from 1.09 to 1.15 but i don't think that is related to this issue.
Good thinking,
But I think it is risky, as virtual machines are usually unstable and doesn't have all the system resources controlled.
As the title says, can I change rom with ubuntu or do I have to use Windows???
wiki will do the trick:

I think that wine will not work, maybe you can try Virtualbox + installation of Windows like a host operating system inside.
In Virtualbox you will allow USB for Win and you can install new ROM like a charm...
or you might use this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=399762
worked with my diamond without problems.
Is not a problem, you try with like up and copy rom.nbh to internal storage with usb drive disk !
Hi! I figured out how to file transfer to the phone through ubuntu .BUt, Is there anyway to flash the t-dash with ubuntu? I'm just wondering. Is there a linux version of ActiveSync? I tried searching google and I had no luck.

Hey. How did you manage to do that? got an HTC tytn and been struggling long. I got ubuntu 9
when you say ubuntu 9, i assume you mean 9.04?
what i believe you want to use is a program called wm5torage i believe. it has just come with all the roms i have been using so i'm not sure where to find it. it sets up your phone as a flash drive with your sd card.
as far as active sync, there is a project that would provide some of the activesync functionality. but it doesn't allow for flashing
as far as i know you still have to use windoze for that.
Hi all,
i benefit from this post to report the excellent Syncmate !
It work very fine on mac (i use hackintosh).
I have tested that it works perfectly with the 3VO ROM, surely even faster than activesync on windows! Icredible!!

syncmate for free can syncronize only i-calc and contact and ,obviously, it can mount excalibur as external disc,. Sync mate pro have full options!
CIao!
hello. i was just wondering if you need a pc in order to do all this? i have a mac... any help is appreciated. this will be my first time customizing a wm phone. just waiting for the att tilt 2 to be available
You wouldn't need a PC running Windows to flash ROMS since you can flash via the SD card. And you can always install cabs by transferring them over via disk drive mode.
But most of the tools I found here for customizing manila images and stuff are Windows apps. Perhaps you should look into Windows emulators.
