VM6.1 and BlackBerry - PLEASE
Does anybody have a working solution for VM6.1 and BlackBerry?
Is anybody working on a WM6.1 BlackBerry ROM?
This forum is for people with Hermes, so why would they create a ROM for a blackberry??
I've got Pays WM6.1 working with blackberry connect 4.0.92 and I've tried other 6.1 ROMs before that and they also work fine but you need to apply the following steps:
Change device ID, from Start -> Settings -> System -> About -> Device ID to HTC_TyTN
Edit your registry: HKLM\System\Versions\AKU key, change whatever in there (like .0.0.3) to .0.4.2
Than install bbconnect and you should be good to go.
Thanks, I will give that a shot

Hello,
I've just received my SPV M5000 and I'm loving it. However I do have a few niggles. Freezing, took ages to get skype to work, unable to install Tom Tom navigator 5.0.
I've heard that the imate Jasjar ROM is more reliable than Orange ROM.
Any information on the following questions would be much appreciated.
Does the imate ROM contain skype?
Where abouts can I locate the imate ROM?
How do install the ROM?
Can Tom Tom navigator run on the device?
Thanks in advance.
TomTom runs on the orange ROM. Its the installation that has problems, and that is to do with the installation package not liking WM5/Activesync 4
You can install TTN by copying over the 5 cab files manually and running them on the device, you will also want to find the 5.1 update cab.
If you do a search you will find the cab, and the information on this board. It took me 15 mins all in.
I know it doesn't answer your question, but might save you turning your phone into a brick!!
Also, are you on orange? If so, how the hell are you going to afford to use skype after the 3months 3g trial ends?
Thanks for that.
In response to your question. I won't really be using Skype over 3g. I will only use within Wireless Haotspots using WiFi.
As I am a complete thicky, would you be able to spoon feed me the installation of Tom Tom to my Universal. Where to install, what, etc and the upgrade?
Thanks in advance.
toptaggy,
I'm an irregular poster on here but found myself in the position of having a genuine registered copy of TomTom Navigator 5 and unable to use it on my M5000 having just upgraded from the M1000 and M2000.
Elsewhere on this forum, I found thie following which is a very helpful guide to installing TTN5 with Bluetooth GPS.
Hope it works for you too.
F
TomTom
There are 3 key steps in making TomTom 5 work on an i-mate JasJar with a Bluetooth GPS.
Many tips are scattered around in different Forums.
Here is a COMPLETE overview of what to do.
STEP 1 : INSTALL TOMTOM5
You do this by copying the CAB files from the CDROM (eg F:\PocketPC) to the JasJar and launch one by one from there with the explorer of the JasJar.
You can install voices the same manner by copying the CAB files to the Jasjar (eg from F:\Voice on the CDROM)
STEP 2 : UPGRADE TO V5.1
http://www.htcclub.net/storage/ppcupd510.rar
Extract and copy the files to a folder on the JasJar and install them from there.
STEP 3 : ACTIVATE THE GPS CONTROL PANEL
Fire up a registry editor (eg http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/phmregistryeditor.shtml )
Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MASCHINE\ControlPanel\GPS Settings
Delete the DWORD marked "hide"
Add a DWORD called "Group" and give it the value of "2" (dec)
The GPS panel will now show up in your connection settings.
STEP 4 : INSTALL TOMTOM5
1. Establish a bond with your GPS and select the checkbox for serial access.
2. In BT, select the OUTGOING port to 8.
3. In the GPS control panel, select the GPS program to 0 and make sure that the hardware one, is set to None.
4. Start TT5 and the GPS settings, select another bluetooth GPS, and you will see COM 0 free. Select COM 0 and close TT5.
5. At the GPS control panel again, now select COM 8 (before we set it up at 0).
6. At BT: select OUTGOING port to 0.
7. Back again to GPS control panel and select NONE.
8. Finally start TT5 and it should connect automatically. Wait for a couple of seconds and click the GPS settings and you should see it has connected.
Hi toptaggy
So far I was never happy with Orange ROMs. But I have a suggestion for you as long a realy good ROM is not avalable.
I installed the VGA tool. With this one the screen is much faster, specialy when turning the screen.
Than with the Total Commander CE the extended ROM is visible (just tip in the adress bar: Extended_ROM ). Here you can fist backup it and than remove unneccessary file as Orange ring tones etc. This will free up you some memory.
With this config my M5000 is working 50% faster as the standard out of the box.
A pitty is that the slider in the memory setting is missing as you had it in W2003 SE.
Cheers
What is the VGA tool and where can it be obtained from ???

The MKID of your MapKing map will be changed. Therefore to continue to use the MapKing map, you need to follow the steps below in order to apply a new registration code:
1.Please access, http://www2.mapking.com/UpgradeScheme_Dopod.htm 2.Input your original MapKing product authorization code. After the verification, you can proceed to the next step: Input your new MKID and press the “Submit” button. Then you will get a new registration code.

What is SIP Configuration?????
Thank you
Try to deactivate HTC's phone skih. The WM6 default skin now have great new options.
Here is the registry change:
Remove operator skin from Phone app
If your device's Phone app is skinned, you can remove by setting:
HKLM\Security\Phone\Skin\Enabled = 0 (DWORD decimal)
Similarly, you can restore it with:
HKLM\Security\Phone\Skin\Enabled = 1 (DWORD decimal)

I dont know how, or if you can uninstall those programs..look in your system folder under program files, but I dont recall ever seeing those programs in there. I think they are in the extended ROM and would have to be removed before you flash...but I dont know how to do it, or if that information is correct.
I do know, however, that SIP has to do with Voice Over IP - Internet, or WiFi calling. Thats all I know on that subject, not a feature I ever got excited about.

First; the calculator can NEVER be removed (it's part of the WM Operating system).
For the Voice speed dial i'm not sure, but you can remove apps that were installed from the EXTended ROM by doing a hard reset, and then immediately do a soft-reset as soon as the 'customisation-process' starts (that's what loads apps from the extended rom to your device, and so you skip that).
HOWEVER: as there may be some customisations in there that are needed for good operation on your network, you do this at your own risk...
But let's talk shop... (on-topic)
I've got a Trinity with an official Dopod WM6 ROM on it, and now i am looking for upgrading my friends Artemis...
So i wondered if there are any issues with this ROM, and how exactly all of you flashed this on a different CID device (my Friend 's got a Dutch (NL) Artemis)... So far i have found out that apparently the Artemis has to be CID unlocked completely before flashing different CID ROM...or are there hacked bootloaders out there that work too...?
Sorry for asking a question that may have been answered before, but an Artemis is just not my native device as you understand...
Search for USPL, its a hacked bootloaded that makes it possible to load any rom onto your device.
no issues so far, rock solid stability. faster performance than the black and blue rom as it doesnt include all the added junk
I don't understand why you should "upgrade" to radio 1.47, when 02.69.90 is in this ROM..?
Yes! WM6 is on my Orbit - going to remove the horrible green HTC dialpad.
However the SIP/VoIP stuff is missing from the WWE rom
Could somebody please check if this ROM includes Czech regional settings?
Czech is in the list in Regional Settings

About the only way to remove those particular apps would be to cook your own ROM, resetting before customization might get rid of Voice command and Clearvuew PDF, but I am not sure. I have contemplated cooking my own version of the official 3.5 ROM to get rid of Voice Command and ClearVue but it has not been worth the effort yet. Maybe once the official HTC ROM comes out. I install too many programs to make me want to flash regularly.
Thank you Janetpanic
Dear Tom:
I like your 3.7 version, but, this is very slow (3.5 is mor fast)
I like a New ROM within apps (Not clean, please), but with:
ArcsoftMMS
AudioManager
Office 2007
BT_FTP
HTC Camera 4.11 (From HTC Touch)
HTC Home
QuickGPS
ShareDLL
TaskManager
Sim manager
VoiceRecorder
NetworkWizard
Esmertec Jbed
StreamingMedia
More Themes (I got various themes ;-)
Calendar today o secretary calendar (see WM6 for wizard)
Speed dial today (see WM6 for wizard)
Messeges today
Touch Flo (but optional)
Thank you
Is this Rom Working on HTC P3300? Is Italian Language support?

Done some more research as well, and i'll get flashing this P3300 of friend asap...
I have spent 2 hours reading and searching through the net after a disappointing experience with CRC 6.1 and Blackberry Connect ... I have tried many versions, I do see success out there with Windows Mobile 6.1 but not with Hermes.
you could try this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=365604
there is a link in Matts signature which takes you over to another thread which contains a zip file containing OEM/SYS directories, in the OEM folder there is a version of BBConnect, not sure which one it is but would assume it will be for WM6 or later.
If you don't fancy having a go yourself I've just followed the destructions and cooked it into a base rom, you're welcome to have a try, can't guarantee it will work though as I haven't loaded it onto my device, the ROM is the same one I am using with BBConnect added in.
Try this:
1. Hard reset.
2. Change device ID, from Start -> Settings -> System -> About -> Device ID to HTC_TyTN
3. Install a registry editor, such as Resco (www.resco-net.com) or Total Commander (www.ghisler.com, I use 2.5 beta 3). Then edit:
"HKLM\System\Versions\AKU key", change whatever in there to .0.4.2
Note the . goes in front, it's not typo
does it work with BIS or only with BES because the BBC is only talking about BES
Thankx
Hi everyone,
I used vivi's Rom Kitchen for Asus P525 to cook my own ROM. Everythings fine, except one thing: I can't send SMS.
When I try to get the Text Message Settings (Settings -> Phone -> Services -> Voice Mail and Text Messages) I get a "Network Error".
Any ideas?
Thanks,
SamuelTee
Ok, I found the reason. The sms_providers.dll was missing. I cooked a new ROM including that and it worked.
Now, is there any way to install this DLL (cab ...) without the need of updating the whole ROM? I tried using cab (including dll and registry entries) but it didn't work.
I read something about "signing" dlls and certificates. Might this has something to with it?
Thanks,
SamuelTee
hai guys, I noticed after using it a few weeks that I'm missing the Transcriber feature as input option in my WM6.1 Classic, I'm using CE OS 5.2.2021 Build 19199.1.0.0
I searched around here and tried two different Transcriber.Cab's from this site and from www.4winmobile.com bot do not work (Transcriber still doesn't show up; and WM6.1 installer tells me "it may not work, as program is designed for an older version"). No registry entries either (I searched for "transcriber" keyword across entire registry).
Can anyone pretty-please help me out on this one ?
I'm using a hx2495b iPAQ and got the english ROM from a (Korean?) website, which was linked from here (somewhere in a "hx2000"-ROMflashing thread. Everything else seem to work fine.
thx

Nope doesnt work, if i read it correctly it's for BLOCK RECOGNIZER and not for TRANSCRIBER - i looked into the CAB-file, and it's pointing to a MSIMNL.DLL (for Netherlands InputModule) so i did it manually to MSIM.DLL (which is 120kbyte in size) - which according to the registry is/was set correctly, but not even in the registry was a TRANSCRIBER pointer/entry. After installing your suggested CAB i got TWO BLOCK RECOGNIZER modules/choices
It seems to me that both relevant DLL's are there (MSIM.DLL w. 120kbyte) and a MSIM.96.DLL (67kbytes in size), just missing the proper registry pointers to "activate" it.
anyone more suggestions?
cheers

The download cab under "Deleted from ROM (1...." at
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=313081
works on my Loox N560 WM6.1. And it looks the full monty!
well, it's getting closer
it shows at least up now in the input selection pull-down menu, but it's kinda "defective" the area is not completely drawn, and it's missing entries. My windows-Installer tells me that this too was "designed for an older version of windows Mobile"
again, I'm using WM6.1 Classic, CE OS 5.2.2021 Build 19199.1.0.0 and in soft-boot the boot ROM reads as version # 5.20.01.C ENG
i got my ROM from here http://www.pdaviet.net/showthread.php?t=23740&page=2
not sure if that helps further
cheers

hm, now i got even a weirder effect.
i got myself Calligrapher v8.7 Build 8.379.0810
but the wierd thing is, it installs nicely, but i cannot start it up. Only the Config Manager and the PenCommander start up, but the WriteAnywhere or WritePad will not start, I cant even put in my serial number.
I noticed that at installation it has an option to uninstall the original WM 6.1 TRANSCRIBER (which I'm missing) - that option had a check-mark, but was "grayed out"/disabled.
anyone have an idea ? I'm getting desperate
cheers

I'm having the same problem as atlana, I installed Calligrapher 8.7 but cannot get it to launch. Calligrapher support suggested I delete some plug-ins from my Today screen, but even with NO plug-ins I could not launch Calligrapher.
Has anyone come up with a fix? thanks
